Starting 1st March - who is with me?!

MrsCherryBakewell · 28/02/2021 09:01

I'm 5.7 and 13 stone at the moment which is the heaviest I've ever been. None of my clothes fit me properly and I feel awful.

I want to loose 20lb before the end of May when it gets warmer and we have to see people face to face again rather than trying to find a flattering angle on zoom!

I've tried weight watchers, slimming world, calorie counting and nothing has worked for me because I start a diet on a Monday and have given up by Friday.

I know if I don't do this now I'm going to feel even more depressed come summer when none of my lovely summer clothes fit.

So I'm starting tomorrow and will calorie count, 1,600 a day which is about right for my height and won't make me hangry all day. I'm going to weigh in on a Monday morning. I think I am going to need some support because lovely food and drink is pretty much what has got me through the last year! But if I can loose 20lb before summer it will be worth the sacrifice.

Is anyone with me?!

I'll join you :)

I want to lose about 3st to push into the healthy zone. I've lost a lot of weight following diet plans in the past but don't find it's sustainable for me so I'm working on portion control for now. Need to get my head round "normal" eating!

I will also weigh in tomorrow morning :)

MrsCherryBakewell · 28/02/2021 09:23

Hi @EvilOnion. Thanks for joining me! I know what you mean, the last year has meant I've lost track of what normal eating is. I also gave up smoking just over a year ago and replaced it with an addiction to crisps.

This time I just want to try and be realistic and do something more sustainable.

I'm going to enjoy my Sunday roast later though and plan out my meals for the week so I feel in control.

Count me in too 👍 Looking to lose around 1.5 stone by the Summer. I've given up chocolate for Lent, so I'm hoping that helps with some of the calories and I stick to it!

CrackedActor · 28/02/2021 09:39

I'll join too. Although my BMI is normal, I've just bought a pair of Zara jeans online (size 12, I'm normally 10 but wanted them baggier) and they were waaaay too tight. I need to lose off my middle and stop hitting the sugary foods.

I intend to not eat in between meals and do 16:8 fasting. Hopefully I can reset my appetite. I don't have scales so I don't weigh myself, I'll go on how clothes fit.

MrsCherryBakewell · 28/02/2021 13:08

Hi @JustSaying101 and @CrackedActor

Hopefully we can all spur each other on. I'll post my menus each day if that would be helpful too? Have just made a lemon drizzle cake. Will have to make sure everyone else eats it before it can get to it! I'm my own worst enemy.

penelopepittastopp · 28/02/2021 15:05

I will join you if I may.

IamChipmunk · 28/02/2021 15:12

Ill join. Lost a stone and a half in last lockdown, too stressed this time round and that and xmas means half a stone back on. Im a terrible enotional eater but can do it when I'm focussed!

IslaRoseGraceEtc · 28/02/2021 16:22

I'm with you. I'm calorie counting and not eating back exercise (although not actually doing any exercise either)

Lost 12lbs since January, 8lb to go to get to pre lockdown weight. Surely I can shift 4 of those in March.

EvilOnion · 01/03/2021 08:17

Weighed in this morning... 13st 10.2lbs.

Today is a fresh start, the sun is shining here and it's a crisp morning so it feels like spring has arrived so I'm feeling positive :)

penelopepittastopp · 01/03/2021 08:47

Morning, such a lovely day where I am.

Weighed in earlier and I am 11st 13 1/4lbs. Shocking.

Today's the day, fresh new start.

theremarkablerocket · 01/03/2021 09:15

Mind if I join? I'd like to lose a stone by Easter. I had my third baby in Nov and breastfeeding alone doesn't seem to be cutting it in the face of lockdown and homeschooling!

I'm awful at counting calories (and don't want to restrict too much when bfing) so I'm going to try and avoid snacking and pudding and filling up on veg rather than biscuits. Also have been getting up before the kids to do half an hour of yoga and have started up running again for the first time in a few years so hoping that will help.

Weighed in this morning at 69.1kg/10 st 12.

NotaWickedStepMum55 · 01/03/2021 09:30

Can I join as well? I'm calorie counting, I can't do this in the winter as it's too miserable, but spring seems the right time

This time last year I started, and lost 15 lbs by the summer, but put more than half back by winter. So I have 8ish pounds to lose.

I love cooking (and eating) and drinking, so I find my best way is just to eat less of nice things, rather than a lot of low cal stuff. I'm on 1700 a day, which is doable in a slow and steady way.

I look forward to seeing everyones posts.

JustSaying101 · 01/03/2021 09:33

Morning everyone☕

@MrsCherryBakewell Lemon drizzle cake sounds delish - did you manage to resist?! I think I would've had to have a small sample, just to check it came out ok!

And if anyone has any menu ideas, that would be great - I've started the day off with some cereal so far and a banana, not that exciting! Going to try my best to stick to 3 meals today and fruit for snacks. Aiming for around 1600 daily calories. Good luck everyone, we can do this!

Mreggsworth · 01/03/2021 09:38

I'm in.

Desperate to be able to wear pretty strappy tops and dresses come summer.

I'm planning on doing 2-3 weeks pretty strict to kick start. I know this generally isn't a recommended approach but I find once i start to see the weight fall off it motivates me to keep going, where as I just loose my patience with slow and steady as I dont see immediate results. Once I'm a few pounds down and gyms open again I'll pick up the cals.

I'd love to shift 2 stone but think that may be too ambitious. So will be happy with one

kittybee · 01/03/2021 09:55

I’ll join you if I may. I weighed myself this morning after avoiding the scales for too long. I’m 12 st 1/4, my heaviest ever. I’d like to lose 2 1/2 st. Will be nice to have company on this journey.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 01/03/2021 10:15

Can I join?
My weigh in... 15st8. I did really well last summer, went from 16st4 to 15st. But it's crept back on me again. (Height 5ft7)

I eat when I'm bored or stressed. My exercise has been limited by having the children at home the whole time and DH is at work. Fingers crossed for school next week.

Good luck. I know I'm not going to be slim by summer. But not obese will be a good start.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 01/03/2021 10:43

ME!

I'm currently 187lbs/13st 5"/85kg/ BMI 29.
I's 5 ft 7.5 (the half is very important.
Best weight would be about 130-150!

Goals - Aiming for 170lbs as a start Smile.
Strengths - physical activity.
Weakness - sweet treats.
Motivation - fertility and feeling good.

penelopepittastopp · 01/03/2021 11:51

@kittybee we weigh pretty much the same. I also need to lose 2.5 stone. I'm only 5ft 4lb and I look huge, especially my belly.

kittybee · 01/03/2021 12:26

Penelopepittastopp I noticed that too. Also most of my weight is on my belly. I’m going to be strict for the first couple of weeks as I need to see the pounds come off to keep motivated.

MrsCherryBakewell · 01/03/2021 12:39

Yay, loads of us to cheer each other on!

Weighed in at 13.08 this morning. I really need to do this. None of my summer clothes fit.

Today's menu;

Breakfast: 2 eggs, scrambled and wholemeal toast.

Lunch: roll with leftover roast chicken and salad and a pack of Ringos (my downfall and only 84 calories a pack!)

Dinner will be 'Superhealthy Salmon Burgers' from BBC Good Food. Have made them before and they are really easy and tasty. Will have them with the cucumber and carrot salad they recommend and some rice.

I've got some grapes to snack on and might have a very small piece of lemon drizzle if I have enough calories left.

endingintiers · 01/03/2021 12:43

I'm in! In the last 15 months I piled on almost 3 stone. I lost a sibling unexpectedly and traumatically last year so started comfort eating. Then lockdowns, WFH, Christmas, home schooling. I've tried Noom, calorie counting etc last year and lost 8lb but put it back on. I find calorie counting really depressing especially as it doesn't always equate to weight loss. When the scales didn't budge I'd lose all motivation. So I'm focusing on sustainable changes.

I decided end of Jan that if I aimed for a modest 1lb a week loss, I would be at target by the autumn. I've lost 6lb since then, although it is slow going especially last few weeks where I've reached a plateau and then binged on chocolate!

SW: 11st 11lb
CW: 11st 5lb
GW: 9st
Height: 5ft 4in

I'm eating porridge for breakfast with fruit and a drizzle of sugar free syrup. HM soup for lunch. Dinner something from Pinch of Nom cookbook - the whole family eat them and DP is happy to make them. Snacks - fruit, yoghurt, one snack bar.
Water: aim for 2.2 l a day
Sleep: Aim for 7 hours a day
No drinking in the week. Slim g&t or two on the weekend.
Exercise: need to improve, so unmotivated. Aim for one half hour workout 3x a week. Plus one 4-5 shift volunteering at a vaccination centre, I'm on my feet the whole time! And one 2 hour walk a week with the family. Any suggestions for indoor exercise welcome, I'm looking for something fun!!

EvilOnion · 01/03/2021 13:20

@endingintiers i really don't like exercise very much as i get bored so easily and also i'm lazy but i discovered the Body Project on YouTube during lockdown #1 and find i actually enjoy them!

They have a site with free and paid memberships so there's something for every level, i like the Real Start programs because they work for me as a beginner and i also like that the people doing it alongside the instructors end uphuffing, puffing and sweating like i do rather than looking polished and effortless 🤣

I got out of the habit but did my first video in ages today with some dance music on in the background, feeling good about it too!

Also on YouTube there are Just Dance (the Nintendo game) videos that show you all the moves, i do them with the kids someties just for the fun of it. Warning: Gangnam Style is bloody exhausting!!

NaeBor · 01/03/2021 14:00

I'll join please, also starting today 🙂

SW: 9st 11.6lbs
GW: 8st

Doing 16:8 and low carb. Went for a walk down to the shops and about to break the fast with some boiled eggs.

steph2412 · 01/03/2021 14:37

I'll join please! Been half heartedly trying on and off since jan with little success!
Stared on jan 1st at 16st 1lb
This mornings weight is 15st 1lb
I restarted low carb 2 days ago
I'm doing low carb and 16:8
Would like to get back to 12st 7lb may adjust that to lower but need to get there first
My aim for March is to lose 16lbs I would like to be under 14stone by April 1st even if it is only 13 st 13lbs!! Although 16lb seems a lot I know from low carb in the past I will lose a few lbs in the first two weeks!
Also brought an exercise bike and have been doing 2 lots of 5k a day.
Good luck lol everyone

Echobelly · 01/03/2021 15:57

Didn't see this thread, but have started 5:2 today.

9 and a half stone, just over 5ft. So not terrible, but the heaviest I've been and it all goes to my waist so stops a lot of things fitting, plus I need to keep my weight down because I have a dodgy hip.

I did 5:2 before, a bit half-arsedly, a few years ago and found it OK, lost 1/4-1/2 stone over 3 months, being a bit stricter this time, eg only 2 meals.

It's not really a long-term thing, but just hoping to lose lockdown weight over next3 months so I can keep it off over summer at least!
