Starting 1st March - who is with me?!

MrsCherryBakewell · 28/02/2021 09:01

I'm 5.7 and 13 stone at the moment which is the heaviest I've ever been. None of my clothes fit me properly and I feel awful.

I want to loose 20lb before the end of May when it gets warmer and we have to see people face to face again rather than trying to find a flattering angle on zoom!

I've tried weight watchers, slimming world, calorie counting and nothing has worked for me because I start a diet on a Monday and have given up by Friday.

I know if I don't do this now I'm going to feel even more depressed come summer when none of my lovely summer clothes fit.

So I'm starting tomorrow and will calorie count, 1,600 a day which is about right for my height and won't make me hangry all day. I'm going to weigh in on a Monday morning. I think I am going to need some support because lovely food and drink is pretty much what has got me through the last year! But if I can loose 20lb before summer it will be worth the sacrifice.

Is anyone with me?!

@Aroundtheworldin80moves today is a new day! My worst habit is thinking that one small blip has ruined the whole thing. I've accepted that for me, it's not going to be a straight line downward but a rather wobbly one! Friday nights are the worst for me. I can be good all week and then it goes out of the window with wine and crisps! So then that's it for the weekend and I give up until Monday. This time I'm getting straight back into it if it happens.

Here is my menu for the day;

B - 2 eggs and a slice of wholemeal toast
L - small jacket potato with tuna and a huge salad. I have some of the Heinz salad dressing spray which is 1kcal per spray, it's quite good.
D - chicken and chorizo stew. I'm using lower fat chorizo and will only use a small amount. Will have it with roasted peppers and small portion of crispy paprika potatoes which I will parboil and then roast with paprika and fry light.
Will have a glass of wine if I have enough calories left too at the end of the day.

Agreed @MrsCherryBakewell - I'm also guilty of eating somethibg. I shouldn't and thinking the whole day/week/weight loss is down the pan. Which is so ridiculous but you get into such a fixed mindset! It's all about doing this sustainably too!

theremarkablerocket · 02/03/2021 12:26

So easy to do, isn't it? I try and accept that I won't lose/might gain a bit over the weekend but as long as Monday's number is lower than the previous Monday then it's ok - eg. last week went roughly:
Monday - 69.7
Weds - 68.8
Monday - 69.1

So overall downwards despite not being terribly abstemious over the weekend!

IslaRoseGraceEtc · 02/03/2021 12:56

Weighed in this morning 10st6. Aiming for 10st only by the end of March! I weigh daily but judge myself based on the previous week. (E.g. today to last tues).

Sadly it's 12.49 and I've already eaten all but 400 of my calories for the day - ambushed by short dated pork pies in the fridge Blush. Must stay strong!

beckett12 · 02/03/2021 13:10

Pinched 2 crisps from my little boy 😭
I know it's not a big f*ck up but still! Must have more willpower than this 👊🏻

EvilOnion · 02/03/2021 13:17

@beckett12 it's not a fuck up at all! I have BED and just had 5 Pringles from a large tube with my soup just because I fancied some.

Sometimes you just need a little bit of what you fancy or it will gnaw away until you cave and eat more than you meant too!

I was back at work after a 9 day break this morning and usually drive the school run when I'm working so assuming for 10k steps and good food today :)

B: Blueberry & apple yogurt/oats
L: Butternut squash soup, boiled egg & 5 Pringles
D: Chicken pie (like cottage pie not the pastry kind!) & Brocolli

MrsCherryBakewell · 02/03/2021 13:53

@EvilOnion How do you stop at only 5 Pringles? That's willpower in action!

Todays menu so far:
apple, yoghurt, OJ
latte (semi skim)
tomato and basil soup, 1 bit of toast with a chicken slice and leaves
a banana

Dinner is planned to be leftover veggie frittata and we will go a run before dinner.

Hope the updating post lunch then after tea isnt too annoying - find its helping to reinforce the good eating midday!

I'll be weighing weekly.

EvilOnion · 02/03/2021 14:16

I'm going on the theory that there are approx 15 in a standard portion so I can scoff them all now or I can split them and have a few more later if I fancy... I will probably forget by then tbh 🤣

beckett12 · 02/03/2021 18:33

Struggling today and it's only day 2!
Worked my food out for the day and will be ending on 1137
Most of this has been meal replacement shakes I don't know if I will be better trying the same amount of calories but actual food will give it till the end of the week then decide. I want to do this so much so why can't I control myself 😭

beckett12 · 02/03/2021 18:35

To add I know 1137 is low but I was aiming for around 1000 -1050 a day so feel iv left myself down on day 2!
I had 2 crisps like I said before off my son an then had a chicken nugget from when I cooked the kids tea which iv counted in so have went over my daily allowance I had given myself. Sorry for rambling on I feel like I'm a failure already, I want the weight gone as fast as possible!!

StellaWol · 02/03/2021 18:43

I’ll join! I’ve reached a whopping 14st due to WFH, snacking and not moving enough. I’m absolutely addicted to sugar so need to tackle this. If I could lose 10lb in the next six weeks I’ll set another 10lb goal after that, etc!

EvilOnion · 02/03/2021 18:48

Argh, after my well planned day... SHTF (not a big deal but my brain likes to turn the minor into a catastrophe) and I started stressing which kicked off a binge/purge episode Blush

Anyway, things have calmed down and my head has settled.

It's DC2's birthday on Friday and she wants "party food" so I need to go shopping for that and cake tonight - the supermarket might not be the best place for me tonight but needs must🤦‍♀️

IslaRoseGraceEtc · 02/03/2021 19:31

beckett12 I have tried and failed on 1200 many times. Its tough dont be too hard on yourself. I always ended up going over too early in the day and overeating in the evening. I'm now having lots of success on 1400 - my tdee is 1800.

TimeToLose8 · 02/03/2021 19:53

Day 2 not too bad. Down 0.6lb this morning.

Poached egg on toast

Smoked chicken sandwich with a satsuma and a specaloo with my coffee

Chicken korma with half a small naan

Glass of White wine and 20g pringles

Tea and toast

But at least 2 hours of digging in the garden.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 02/03/2021 20:19

We did have fritatta! We also went a 5km run and did some exercises after Smile

@beckett12 that is a super low calorie aim. Low calories will make you lose fast but the concern is is a high failure rate cause it's so hard to stick to! As others said 1400 might be slower but is wayyyy easier to stick to

Starsandglitter · 02/03/2021 20:49

Hi, can I please join! I didn’t do too badly last lockdown losing most of the baby weight but it seems to have just gradually piled back on and I feel terrible. My downfall is all the sugar and I just feel like I look tired and rough and none of my clothes fit! I’m 11 stone 3 but would love to get down to 10 stone by June (9 and a half would be perfect but unrealistic l think!) I’m going to try my version of I.F (not eating between 6pm and 8am ish) as that helps and try and cutdown on the chocolate! Hoping joining the chat will help motivate me xx

Mreggsworth · 02/03/2021 22:41

My eating today has been a bit erratic as i had to go out today for work. Mostly wfh but once a week or 2 I have to go out and it throws me! But I stayed away from super bad food.

Breakfast - huel nutrition bar, small smoothie.

Lunch - 2 sandwiches Blush (one looked too little)

Dinner - home made juice, and a few bites of my boyfriends tea.

2 coffees.

5 squares of galaxy.

I'm guessing about 1500 cal?

theremarkablerocket · 03/03/2021 08:08

Another so-so day yesterday -

Breakfast - porridge with raisins (I'm a creature of habit...)
Lunch - leftover homemade fried rice and an apple
Dinner - toasted red cabbage with goats cheese and walnuts, small homemade flatbread. Creme egg.
Snacks - banana and apple, half a whole meal pita bread.
Kids' leftovers - half a whole meal wrap with hummus and grated carrot.

Did half an hour of yoga and did some digging and hauling bricks around in the garden.

So not great on the pudding/leftovers front but otherwise alright.

Mreggsworth · 03/03/2021 09:47

I'm going to try writing what I plan to eat for the rest of the day then check in at end of day to see what I've actually ate.

Breakfast- coffee, huel bar and juice

Lunch - huel savoury meal, yoghurt and a peice of fruit

Tea - rice chicken and mango salsa

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 03/03/2021 09:53

I did better yesterday. Meals were healthy, ate no biscuits, but did have some chocolate and wine in the evening.
The good news is DDs polished off my favourite biscuits last night, and there's only ones I don't like left.

Yesterday meals
Breakfast- fruit and yoghurt
Lunch- soup
Dinner- burritos, but without the wrap.
Exercise- short walk but we had to return as DD fell down a hill (takes after her mother)

Today
Breakfast- scrambled eggs.

Starsandglitter · 03/03/2021 16:07

This is good inspiration for me. My diet really isn’t great at the moment, I said I was going for 6pm-8am window but I meant 6pm-10am so I’m doing 16/8. Today I have had

Bowl of cereal

Cheese on toast, apple, satsuma, packet of smarties Blush

Just had a digestive with my cup of tea which I also really didn’t need!

Dinner will be home made pizza with salad.

Anyone else struggling with cutting down on sugar ? @Mreggsworth I wish I could just have 5 squares of galaxy! Im hoping to try and get out for a couple of walks in the next few days at least but it’s hard to fit exercise in x

cartwheelsteel · 03/03/2021 16:42

It's a bit late but can I join? I don't have reliable scales so am going to have to judge by how my clothes feel, but I've gone up a size during lockdown and last time I did manage to check my weight was just entering the overweight BMI.

I need to get into some healthier habits and get a bit of energy back and it'd be great to have a bit of moral support and not be doing it alone.

JustSaying101 · 03/03/2021 19:42

Didn't get round to posting yday as it was a shitter of a day! Managed to start off well with breakfast and lunch but everything went fairly downhill after 4PM. Came across an unopened pack of haribos and you can guess what happened next! 😩

Thankfully today has been better:
Breakfast - banana with porridge
Lunch - soup and bagel
Dinner - vegetable lasagne w rocket salad
Snacks - yogurt, pear, rice cake, plum

@Starsandglitter - I am totally struggling with the lack of sugar, you are not the only one! Given up choc for Lent but now trying to avoid sweets/biscuits, etc is v. difficult! Have tried to eat some fruit/yogurt to replace that sugar hit but that didn't work out too well yesterday!

sasasazz · 03/03/2021 20:28

I'm in too - I've lost 5st since May last year doing keto/low carb/IF and now I've got only the last 1.5st to go. I've gone from 16.6st to 12.4st, now I just need to get down to 11st.

Height - 5'10
SW - 12.4st
GW - 11st

I'll carry on with my normal activities - CrossFit 3/2 days a week, going for a fasted walk in the mornings as much as I can and I will also IF(18:6).

I've been maintaining my current weight for 3/4months staying low carb and IF but it's time to trim down for the summer baby!

I'll post my meals for accountability and to make myself stick to my goals - good luck everyone.
