I'll join you.

I have 21lbs to lose, I haven't been able to exercise for 10 months due to problems with my feet, but they've improved loads, so my plan is to go for a half an hour walk every day, doesn't sound a lot but it's better than sitting on the sofa eating chocolate.

I'm not following a specific diet, just cutting out chocolate, crisps, chips, bread and trying to reduce the sugar in my tea for now.

I started yesterday & I'll be weighing in on Mondays & Fridays.

Good luck.

jazzyroll · 05/01/2021 10:36

I have joined so many of these threads in the past and fail to lose weight so never go back on them. I have 84lbs to lose and just worked out yesterday that I need to lose 50lbs to get me from obese to overweight. Seems like a huge mountain I have to climb but I need to just do it now. I have started today and will reduce my portion size a and try not to snack. Will also cut the alcohol and try to move more but wfh now so not sure how that will go.

BananaBananaII · 05/01/2021 10:38

I'll join I have around 2.5 stone to lose. I was going to do it whilst on maternity leave. Baby is now over a year and I'm back at work and not fitting into my uniform. I'm wearing my pregnancy uniform so definitely need to do something about it.

I'm loosely following slimming world as I know that plan as I have done it before. 1 treat a day (i.e. syn values) but otherwise healthy breakfast lunch dinner and snacks. Although any low carb ideas for lunch will be well received. I'm having soup or eggs atm as breakfast is either wheetabix, shredded wheat or a variation of oats/porridge. I'm not a salad fan in winter. I really struggle to see joy in eating lettuce in January.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 05/01/2021 10:41

i'd like to join too. On a coffee break at work now, so will be brief. I have a stone to lose to have a "normal" BMI, but realistically a further stone or two to be a suitable weight for my frame. I was skirting the edges of overweight before last year's lockdown, but am now a stone heavier than then.

No specific diet, just starting by cutting out the excessive snacking, and then will look at portion control. Good luck folks!

BananaBananaII · 05/01/2021 10:42

@jazzyroll you can do it but I think maybe start slow so you see results immediately. The first 2 weeks are the hardest to crack I find. Maybe cut the alcohol, smaller portions but allow snacks. Otherwise you will be hungry and miserable. Please don't think I'm being out of order I jusy think going hard straight away will be difficult. I always do better easing into it so my stomach gets used to smaller portions before cutting down snacks etc. I hope that makes sense.

lucy2204 · 05/01/2021 11:44

Didn't expect people to actually reply 💃hopefully we can keep each other focused, I was looking into keto but doesn't look like something I'd be able to stick to, (3kids under 4)I have a big problem with chips and bread I don't binge on anything else not really a chocolate or crisps or sweet fan just chips and bread😂which is clearly how I got here, I plan to try and weigh in every week, goodluck everyone xx

I will join you please, I have 5.5 stone to lose , back on the wagon yesterday after Christmas . Lost 4.5 over the last year-ish calorie counting (and some of those stones I lost twice over!)

OP my DH is slim too and I’m sure finds it alien weighing ingredients out for dinner because he is able to just stop eating when he’s full, I can’t!
Be good to share support with people who understand.

lucy2204 · 05/01/2021 13:54

@BeastOfBODMAS, omg yes about the partner thing, mine also can eat like a pig and gain nothing. 🐷☹️He can lose weight easily to 🙄I'm hoping to have success this time as I normally give up, but want to change this time more so for my mh, we got this!! 🙏🤗💃xx

quarentini · 05/01/2021 14:11

Can I join in please ?
I have 4.9 stone to loose.
I'm calorie counting and doing at least 10 k steps a day to begin with.
I'm so unfit that this is all I can manage at the moment.

BeastOfBODMAS · 05/01/2021 14:21

@lucy2204 You can do it! I have learned as a fellow bread fan to buy portioned stuff like muffins/ thin bagels to freeze or part baked rolls. Easier to exercise restraint as it takes time to defrost/cook. I am someone who would make a sandwich to snack on while their toast cooks given access to a sliced loaf Grin

Birdladybird · 05/01/2021 14:21

Hello, I would like to lose 20-25kgs. Started yesterday with my DH. He also would like to lose about 30kgs.

My DSD is getting married (hopefully) in September so i don't want to be the fat step mum!

We aren't doing a specific diet but keeping carbs and sugar low. My DH is a chef so he does all the cooking.

My downfall is snacking, trying to get that out of my system!

How’s everyone doing?

I’m just back from my walk, food intake has been really good so far today, just need to keep my sticky fingers out of the Quality Street tin until bedtime.

lucy2204 · 05/01/2021 20:39

@sassenachwitch it's going good here, I finished my water for the day + a little more and managed to get a 40 min workout done!, glad today was a good day for you, xx

GarlicMushroom · 05/01/2021 20:47

Hello all! Just wondered if there was any room for another to join? I've gained about 60lb over the last 5 years, mainly related to pregnancy. I have started 'the diet' so many times over the years but tend to go in too hard and fall into old habits after a couple of years. I have a stressful job and toddlers and often use food as a reward for myself so I'm planning to go gently this time and hope I can stick with lifestyle changes.
Can anyone reccomend any workout videos or home workouts? X

SassenachWitch · 05/01/2021 20:58

@lucy2204 A 40 minute workout is great, well done you!

Glad you mentioned water, must drink more!! X

BeastOfBODMAS · 05/01/2021 23:37

Good going on the workouts and walks lucy & witch, I really struggle during the week with so little daylight so admire your get up and go.
Hi @GarlicMushroom !
I am under calorie goal for the day and made a stew of all the veg that needed using up. It was yellow flavour with a squash, a cauliflower, carrots, yellow split peas, sweetcorn, lots of turmeric and ginger. Arse melting pickled naga chilli on top. DH approved and he is sometimes sniffy about my inventions. So a good day

SpookieDookie · 05/01/2021 23:42

I had 4 stone to lose. Lost 1 stone last year, then have been having a break, hoping to lose another stone in this time. Using my fitness pal and doing run 2 5k

lucy2204 · 06/01/2021 08:43

@SpookieDookie hey hun, that's great, just a question do you have a treadmill or do you go out running? 🙈I'm not a weirdo I promise 😂I really want to start running but I'm so embarrassed to run outside as I'm so unhealthy and we have Alot of runners in out end of town 🙄very judgey people

morning - lovely to see so many people on the thread for support and motivation. Totally relating to making a sandwich while waiting for toast - savoury carbs are my downfall.

For exercise I very slowly ( 7min/k) jog 5k twice weekly. I probably need to dust off my Shred DVD as well.

I have weighed in this morning (no clothes, post-wee pre-coffee for accuracy) at 12st12, although last night was 13st1. That's my heaviest ever non-pregnant weight. My best weight is 10st7, but I haven't seen that since before the teenager was born, so somewhere under 11st7 would be a great start.

lucy2204 · 06/01/2021 09:05

@TheTurnOfTheScrew morning! I never expected so many people to join, your weight is near my goal weight 😱, how much you looking to lose?

Does anyone on here have a treadmill if so are they recommended? Xx

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 06/01/2021 09:13

Lucy, 2st off would be great for me. Although I am tall I have a small frame (no boobs even now) and I wouldn't look too skinny even if I lost 3st!
