Bad day for me today... I've got my steps in but I'm having cheese pie and chips for tea.

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 17:19

@lucy2204 - Thank you! Ah it's a pain isn't it, you feel like you've done amazingly to gain it all plus more back a month later!

So glad to have the support :)

Yes same, my mind doesn't work with calorie counting/dieting. So I'm trying to eat the more nutritious foods and smaller portions lol.

Thank you, good luck to you too :)

@quarentini - Good that you have your steps in at least! I can't remember the last time my fitbit recorded more that 150 steps in a day! Try not to let the dinner make you think you've done bad. Enjoy it, it's a new day tomorrow! :)

I really don't mean to sound patronising or anything! It's just what i've found through this whole process! It's so horrible how bad certain things can make us feel. I really feel like I messed up my mind so much through the whole 'dieting' stage. I would beat myself up for having a slice of cake, and would then go on a 4 day binge of eating everything in site lol.

I really try to stick to the whole "eat whatever i want in moderation" Easier said than done i know!

lucy2204 · 07/01/2021 17:48

@quarentini I'm sorry you had a bad day hun but remember a bad day isn't the end of the world, 🤗there's always tomorrow to try again, there's no judging here! We all got you🤗🤗

@delilah221 omg, and people think you've just been pigging out once you've gain it back so quickly 🙄I'm with you 1000% with the whole one bad meal then I go on a binge but won't be letting that happen this time no more beating myself up for having a off meal as long as I get more work out in is all that matters (obviously I'm not going to have an off meal every single day) 😂ngl I downloaded a calorie counter and found myself checking everything I wanted to eat and thinking to myself wtf am I meant to eat if all this counts up to this, I'd barely be eating anything if I followed it, undownloaded it real quick 😂😂

I've also got about 4 stones to lose. I have been eating healthier things for lunch at work (I used to have sandwiches, crisps and a chocolate biscuit) Tea is still a bit of a problem as has to be suitable for the kids as well and they are quite picky. I have got an exercise bike but I'm so unfit (and suffering from long covid) I can hardly do any km on it. My plan is to do 1 km a day (which is hardly anything but the best I can do) this week then up it to 2 next week and so on.

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 17:55

@lucy2204 - I know!! You get the 'Oh diets going well then' and i just think oh eff off lol!
I know! It's literally taken me years to get into a better mind set of just eating what i want when i want but in moderation. I'd eat a chocolate bar, then feel so bad about it and then end up eating an entire tub of ice cream cos i felt so bad lol. Such a bad habit to kick!
Ah i had myfitnesspal, and became OBSESSED with the calories in everything, like everything! down to measuring out grapes/blueberries!! I ended up logging the food i was eating when i started to eat better, and it would all add up to around 1,400 cals anyway so now i just try to stick to 3 meals a day and i try so hard to focus on WHAT i eat not the calories, if that makes sense. But also trying not to hate myself for having a bloody chocolate bar or packet of crisps lol.

Best of luck xx

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 17:58

@Bunnybigears - That's good though to do it in smaller steps. So sorry to hear you're suffering from long covid! :( In terms of dinners, i find slow cooker dinners really helpful as it's way easier and you can make so many different things!

I also recently just got engaged, so now have to try and fit in a wedding dress!! As well as trying to be more healthy TTC our first!

lucy2204 · 07/01/2021 18:21

@bunnybigears sooo sorry you got/had covid I hope your feeling a little better each day, defo start off slow and don't push yourself to much, I have 1 very fussy kid when it comes to eat the other 2 are happy to try everything, I also agree slow cooked meals are the way to go if your not feeling yourself still, but obviously depends on what your kids like and if they will eat it 🤗I hope you start to feel better soon! 💐

@delilah221 oh god yes, and you accidentally give them the stink face and they act as if it wasn't a big deal being an ass, il never understand why people like to drag other people down uno! How exciting trying for your first baby that's defo something to look forward to!!, having kids was the best thing I've ever done, there so crazy yet so funny but it's defo tiring, 😂but then again I have 3 within 4 years so that's prob why I'm constantly tired 😂😂hopefully by the end of all this your get to share your bfp with us 🤞&a massive congratulations on your engagement you have a lot to look forward to xx

Well yesterday I did a joe wicks PE session... I have never been so sore in all my life! Hobbled around today!!!

Today has been an ok day and am on plan.

Can you through me what your weekly meal plans are? I need to edit my order tonight so need some inspiration!

BeastOfBODMAS · 07/01/2021 19:21

@Delilah221 it’s funny how what works for one person doesn’t work at all for the next (tell that to the diet industry ha!) - I love planning ahead in my fitness pal because I can hack being slightly hungry all day if I’ve got a roast dinner to look forward to!
Congratulations on your engagement! 🥳 We will be TTC our first soon too, hopefully getting my coil out next week

buckeejit · 07/01/2021 19:40

Joining in please. About 5+ stone to lose but will be in a happier place if I lose 2 stone-shamefully lost a stone in summer & have put it back on with interest in the last few months with my fuck it, let's enjoy life as best we can attitude.

I love to eat & drink & put on weight so easily. On day 3 of dry January, doubt I'll get much further as work is so stressful but will try. I'm mainly trying to get up early enough to do a short walk each morning-the first 3k steps odd which will motivate me to do a bit more through the day.

All my friends IRL don't really have any significant weight to lose &

Off to RTFT now & hope others have a better plan than me!

BeastOfBODMAS · 07/01/2021 19:41

@queenofthelamas
Weekly meal plan
Breakfast -porridge or knock off special K

Lunch -‘glorious’ veggie soup or 1/2 a dinner portion of leftovers or salad (veggie BLT salad with avocado is a winner) with low cal dressing

Snack if needed- 1 crumpet with a tiny scrape of spread, tea, herbal tea, more tea

Dinners-
Moong dal with spinach and rice
Veggie sausage, baked beans, grilled tomatoes & mushrooms and tiny portion oven chips
Carribean rice n beans - bbc good food recipe
Roast dinner - frozen nut cutlet, roast potato, carrot, fennel, cabbage, gravy
Stir fried veg, rice or noodles and crispy tofu
‘Popcorn’ cauliflower battered gribbets with misc steamed other veg, rice and packet katsu curry sauce
Bean chilli with rice

We eat a lot of rice! But half the veggies were missing off this weeks online shop so there’s lots of tinventions

@lucy2204 that’s ace, rice and peas is one of my favourites, if you have a recipe to share I would be ever so grateful!
I could put scotch bonnets on anything that stands still long enough tbh

queenofthelamas · 07/01/2021 19:58

@BeastOfBODMAS thanks that's so helpful. I feel so uninspired at the moment!

@lucy2204 OMG tell me about it. I look like an old lady trying to climb the stairs Grin

HereIgoagainagain · 07/01/2021 19:59

Can I join ? But sadly this comes with the fact that I have failed much more than I have succeeded.

I really need help to sort myself out .

Snacking is my enemy (and booze)

I will now read the thread but I just wanted to get that out there !

lucy2204 · 07/01/2021 20:10

@BeastOfBODMAS I shall upload the recipe I use 😍I'm out shopping atm so will do it when I'm home 🙄

@queenofthelamas I thought you know what this is all over daily mail and everyone is losing weight on it so il give it ago, people are clearly closing weight on it as its hard to get to the dam snack cupboard 😂😂😂🙌

@HereIgoagainagain💐 yes come join us🤗, there's a few of us that have gone backwards and forwards on diets, theres no judgement here just support and advice and general chit chat ☺️and hopefully everyone will be sharing recipes and etc it might help keep you on track this time x🤗

lucy2204 · 07/01/2021 20:20

I use 1 tin kidney beans, 1 tin coconut milk, 1 and half table spoon gravy granules(sainsbury's cheap one goes best) , one table spoon of honey, 1 tea spoon chilli flakes(add more if you like, I do for me and my partner but the kids don't like spicy food) 1 table spoon of salt, 1 tea spoon of pepper, and 1 cup of water and let that boil on medium to low heat for around 1 hour stir every so ofter then I add the Rice I use balsamic rice and turn to low then I use whatever meat I'm cooking some of that fat to put in it and stir and serve don't put the fat in till your dishing up, I change the recipe Alot looking back on it tbh 😂😂😂didn't realise how big the que was gna be did I 🙄🤣 @BeastOfBODMAS

buckeejit · 07/01/2021 20:43

Keto sounds good but the only thing I've ever followed is SW/WW so now, even though I'm trying, I still want a biscuit with my 2 cups of tea a day-there seems to be a part of me that will not surrender everything as otherwise life would not be worth living!

Also, what does everyone do at the weekend? My time off has always revolved around eating & drinking. Is it possible to change a lifelong mindset? If I could eat & drink what I want now & still lose weight, I'm sure I would.

lucy2204 · 07/01/2021 21:04

@buckeejit if you want a biscuits with your tea have one!, just don't over do it with them you can still treat yourself it's just about knowing to to stop 🤗if your getting hungry throughout the day have some cold water the more water the better 🤗I have kids so I'm constantly busy everyday 🙄so I can't help you on that one xx

Thank you @lucy2204
I want to be one of those positive go get em types but instead I am an overworked sarcastic over drinking types

Going to try .....

BeastOfBODMAS · 07/01/2021 21:59

@lucy2204 thank you so much! The bit of honey is what’s missing from the recipes we’ve used before, I can imagine how that would lift the taste in the same way as bolognese wants a bit of sugar

@buckeejit at weekends I have a cooked protein-y brunch as late as possible to keep me going till dinner which leaves enough calories spare for a couple of glasses of wine Grin Also try and get out of the house (apocalypse permitting) as I get way more snacky just sitting around
