Evening all!

Welcome to the lose 7lbs per month thread for spooky October! My second favourite time of the year! Big coats, snuggly scarves, pumpkins, ghosties and toffee apples!

Link to previous thread is here The September 7lb per month challenge! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4013012-the-september-7lb-per-month-challenge

I only lost 3lbs last month (booooooo) but have really upped the exercise in the last couple of days so hopeful I will start seeing proper losses again.

All are welcome, whatever programme or diet you are following. We just stick together and raise each other up which has worked so far and I've seen some amazing results from you lovely regulars :)

See you in the morning ready for first weigh in!!

Made an amazing peanut butter chilli beef dish from The Roasting Tin for dinner. Closing the kitchen at 1200 calories.

Peanut butter chili beef sounds amazing!

I had bolognese without pasta for dinner last night and egg mayo with toast for lunch.

Peanut butter chilli beef sounds amazing. Was it 1200cal or was that the whole days total? Assuming the 1200 was for the whole day, I’d love it if you shared the recipe.
I just weighed in at 9st 12lb, so that’s 2lb down from the start of the month despite my cheat weekend.

Finally shifted a pound and am 11st exactly, need a good couple of days to get into the 10s. 10st 13 will also be a 1.5 stone loss so nice milestone.

I have just had porridge and berries for breakfast and really going to try to be good for the rest of the day. Day off work today so I'm with the 3 year old.

Ooh well done on your losses @FatGirlShrinking and @NerrSnerr. You’re nearly in the 10s now, @nerrsnerr which is amazing and 1.5 stone is great.

It's lovely to see weightloss! Well done everyone.

I was so hungry today. I tried to listen to my body and I ate more. I had an extra snack, and I'll admit that I ate chocolate! My body told me I needed it! I had a larger portion for dinner this evening.

Have nice days today everyone.

Well done everyone on the disappearing weight. I've been keeping an eye on mine but won't do official weigh until Friday. I didn't realise how much the scales fluctuated when weighing so often. I hope to lose the gain I had the previous week.

@downudder I also listened to my body yesterday and ate a little more. And also had a little chocolate! I'm assuming you're in Australia? I'm in Melbourne

Well, yesterday’s loss was a blip, back at 10 today. It makes me glad I weigh every day: if I’d weighed a week ago then yesterday I’d have seen a 2lb gain, but every day weighing shows a plateau of 10st with occasional fluctuations. Time for 16:8 to jumpstart some loss I think. DH wants to do fast800 next week too so I might join him.

Shedtheload · 08/10/2020 08:24

Yeah there’s always so many fluctuations when you weigh every day. I ate at maintenance calories yesterday (2150 according to my Fitbit) as I had period pain from hell. Still feeling a bit crap today so I might do the same again as it’s nice to be able to eat a bit more. It’s a nightmare trying to diet when you feel rubbish.
The good thing is that I tend to lose a little bit of weight once my period finishes and I always find the first couple of weeks after it much easier in terms of sticking to healthy eating.

Morning all :) haven't weighed as the fluctuations always depress me!

Ended up just having a baked potato last night, you can always tell when I haven't done a proper meal plan.

I really think I need a new diet plan, I've just got no enthusiasm for this at all! Am really struggling. I just feel like I've been dieting forever! Which to be honest I have lol.

Tried meditation last night and it was lovely although I still woke up in the early hours but definitely had less anxiety this morning. I found a lovely soundtrack in YouTube which was Stephen fry talking me through a walk through lavender fields in France. It was so relaxing!! Might have to stick some headphones on and do it every night!!

Busy busy day today with meetings so I don't really have a plan in place. Might be a batch cook portion for dinner tonight as I won't have time to make anything and DH is a bit rubbish at veggie cooking!

@cricketmum84

My go to lunch is a mix of whichever of these I have in the fridge - greenbeans, baby corn, mushrooms, sugar snap peas

I put them in a bowl with a little water, cover with cling film then blitz in the microwave for 3 minutes.

Then chop some spring onions and 3 slices of wafer thin ham or chicken (exclude if veggie)

Drain the veg, add in the onions and meat along with a teaspoon of real butter and seasoning, I like lots of black pepper and a bit of salt.

Give it another 30 seconds to 1 minute in the microwave to melt the butter then stir.

It's filling, really tasty and comes in way under 200 cals for a huge portion and takes 4 minutes to cook.

I am having a couple of days of low carb to get me back on track, haven't gained anything but have been messing around and snacking for the sake of it. Yesterday I snacked on cheese, Pom bears, a Milky Way and finished the children's tea! Before it gets out of hand I'm getting it back in check.

My husband is away this weekend so no exercise classes for me, but the extra he's working at weekends will help pay for Christmas so I can't complain. Have a couple of classes booked in for next week.

@cricketmum84 glad you’re feeling a bit better. Meditation sounds great. It really helps me with my anxiety too.
Yeah, switching the diet up is probably a good idea if you’re feeling fed up at the moment. Also, I think the longer you’re doing this for, the more important it is to have something you can stick to. I did 16:8 quite religiously at the beginning but I have found recently that I’m actually hungry in the morning and have to force myself to wait until 10.30 to eat so I decided to give it a rest for a bit as I don’t like that feeling of being really hungry.
I also read some stuff about having a ‘diet break’ to reset the body a bit. This obviously doesn’t mean going back to eating the stuff that caused weight gain in the first place but instead eating at maintenance or a very small deficit for a couple of weeks. I am thinking of doing this, or at least alternating deficit with maintenance days for a few weeks. I figure it’s better than giving up motivation and falling off the wagon altogether. Plus it will give me practice for maintaining weight loss which everyone keeps saying is harder than losing the weight in the first place.

I have planned my meals for the day, going to try and make a cauliflower pizza for lunch. I'm not usually a fan of pretending vegetables are other things (especially cauliflower) but will give it a go. Am going to make broccoli cheese for tea. Will make 2 portions of each so it'll be my meals for today and tomorrow. I have two portions of lentil bolognese for the weekend and if the pizza is a hit I'll go with that.

Afternoon all.

Glad you're doing ok @cricketmum84

@NerrSnerr I love broccoli cheese! Good choice.

@FatGirlShrinking that sounds delicious.

I'm weighing in tomorrow morning then will be having 3 days off my diet - lots of celebrations and decided to take the plunge and join in! Hope it doesn't do too much damage and also subscribing to @Shedtheload 's school of thought, where it may get things moving again when I get back on it on Monday.

Wearing a skirt today, almost unheard of for me! Size 12 clothes from head to toe. Not bad when I started the year as a size 18 Smile

Better get back to studying now, I have not got much done today.

Enjoy the weekend @GetTheStartyParted. I think if this whole weight loss thing is going to work in the long run we have to try and factor celebrations etc. Well done on the size 12s. I'm so close to getting in my 12s, I need one big push because I think in half a stone or so the larger ones will be fitting comfortably.

Now I have been cooking I feel more in control. The cauliflower pizza was actually quite nice, nothing like a pizza base but was nice and filling. I think I'll make it again although it was a faff to make. I have another one made for lunch tomorrow too. I have a couple of portions of broccoli cheese made too. Thursdays are my quiet day at home so I like to get cooking.

Having a sit down, just asked my 3 year old if he's ok and he said 'I'm busy playing mummy and I don't need you' so I'm taking the opportunity to rest before the school run!

Does anyone know how primark sizing compares to places like Dorothy Perkins or next. I've been sized out of primark for a long time only able to get the 2xl stretchy stuff like pjs. Bought a pair of size 18 jeans there yesterday and I can do them up but their not the most flattering shape on me so want to look elsewhere but don't know if I should go for 18 or 20 or smaller?

Report
Shedtheload · 08/10/2020 14:27

Ooh well done on the size 12 @GetTheStartyParted. I’m also a 12. I probably was 16 at the beginning of the year but was in serious size denial and only wore elasticated clothes in smaller sizes 😂

Cauliflower pizza sounds interesting @nerrsnerr. I’ve always wondered what it tastes like so I might give it a go sometime. And lol at your DS telling you he’s busy. That’s you told then 😂 but enjoy your rest.

Thank you @Shedtheload Blush

Exactly @NerrSnerr

I know with keto, a lot of people don't agree with enjoying the odd occasion as it takes you out of ketosis, but I've been doing this for over 8 months and have only indulged a few times, whereas previous diets saw me 'cheating' quite regularly.

It hasn't impacted my weightloss greatly, nor my resolve to lose weight.

Enjoy the pre- school run rest Grin

I don't know sorry @FatGirlShrinking

Weigh in today and I'm down 0.8 lbs since the start of the month, so I'm already doing better than I did last month. Today I've had porridge for breakfast, lunch my friend brought round, was half a chicken and cucumber sandwich, apple, grapes and a pear. Planning to have pasta with pesto and roasted beetroot for dinner.
@FatGirlShrinking your go to lunch sounds lovely, I'm definitely going to have to copy it.

@FatGirlShrinking I have always found that primark is relatively true to size, a bit like Dorothy Perkins and Next. H&M and Zara are ridiculously tiny sizes. Although to be fair I haven’t been in Primark for a while as the town I live in doesn’t have a branch.
