Evening all!

Welcome to the lose 7lbs per month thread for spooky October! My second favourite time of the year! Big coats, snuggly scarves, pumpkins, ghosties and toffee apples!

Link to previous thread is here The September 7lb per month challenge! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4013012-the-september-7lb-per-month-challenge

I only lost 3lbs last month (booooooo) but have really upped the exercise in the last couple of days so hopeful I will start seeing proper losses again.

All are welcome, whatever programme or diet you are following. We just stick together and raise each other up which has worked so far and I've seen some amazing results from you lovely regulars :)

See you in the morning ready for first weigh in!!

Had a good official weigh in after the up and downs of the scales this week.

Loss - 1.6kgs (the 0.8kgs I put on last week plus an additional 0.8kgs)
Current weight- 93.8kgs
Target for end Oct- 92.4kgs

I expect my weight loss will slow next week but can celebrate this week anyway :)

Well done on all the losses and the keeping on keeping on.

It's 11 weeks until Christmas! What's everyone planning on doing re watching weight during the festive period? I think I'll try and maintain during December as I'll have a lot of festive catch ups (hopefully...)

Cricketmum, I listen to an audiobook every night to help me drift off to sleep and if I wake up in the night I put it on again, otherwise I could lie there for an hour trying to fall back asleep.

I think a diet break or switch up can help. It's like you can try your hardest to be strict and follow a good plan but sometimes that still doesn't work. I've read about carb cycling.

I made flapjack, what a daft idea! I've eaten four pieces today, I absolutely love the stuff!

I'm so glad the kids are back to school on Monday, these school holidays have been exhausting. I've got three kids and one of them is always moaning, moan moan moan! It's so exhausting to deal with!

Keep on keeping on everyone.

Last December I just maintained all month. I think I had good days and bad and the evened out!

cricketmum84 I fall asleep to a podcast each night and like downudderer put it back on if I wake up again. Gives my mind something to focus on.
Made the mistake of a midweek weigh in the morning and no loss at all, I shouldn't do it as I know I don't see daily results its like my body clings on as long as possible and finally gives up at exactly a week.

I’m 9 13 again this morning, so that’s about 10 days hovering between 10 1 and 9 12, with a 9 13 average. Still carrying on and hoping for a consistent drop soon.
I like daily weigh ins- when I’m down I feel good and keep trying, when I’m up I try harder. Plus I can’t have 3-4lb gain sneak up on me as I always get that early warning to change something up a bit if I’m starting to gain. Years ago, at my target weight, I’d weigh daily and any 2lb gain would trigger a 2 day “diet” to get me back down.

@Winningatseesaw hopefully I’ll be at my goal weight by December so can just maintain. If not, I’m going to aim lower! 1lb a month would do over December.

@Howmanysleepsnow I was like that for the whole of September, varying between 11 13 and 12 1. I started September on 11 13.8 and was exactly the same on 1st October. Its now started going down again, 11 12.2 this morning. Its very dispiriting when you see no change for so long, but keep at it and it will eventually move. Hope yours doesn't last as long as mine did.

@Ecci that’s exactly what I needed to hear! Well done for sticking at it. It must feel good to see the scales finally start to drop again.

STS for me this week at 11st 9lb. I weigh most days to keep me on track but take my Friday weight as the official one.

GetTheStartyParted, thats a lovely achievement, size 12. Well done!!
Ecci, I've been reading your posts with interest over the last few weeks as we weigh the same and have been losing the dame way (veryslowly) over the last few months. Seems we are getting there extemely slowlybut surely.

Weighed myself this morning and I was 67kg exactly. So since June 24th I have lost 12.5kg or very nearly 2 stone Smile.

Still overweight but not far to go until I’m not. As I was obese when I weighed myself in June then I’m feeling quite good. And in September I wasn’t tracking my calories so quite glad I kept exercising as I still lost 0.5kg

2 stone gone! Congrats Mirandawest.

A weightloss plateau is hard to deal with, well done on just keeping on with it all.

I've found some great weightloss inspiration on instagram. It can be really inspirational to see people my age losing weight! (I'm 39, I don't feel particularly old) it's nice seeing the comparison photos with big smiles!

My weight is staying at 10st 12lb so far but I am on my period so happy there's no gain.
I did however shoe horn into size 10 trousers this morning! Not bad for 3 months post c section.
They were too tight to wear really but hey I managed to do the zip up! Lol!

Finally a bit of movement on the scale. Not quite a pound but almost (0.4 kg). That means I have hit the 3 stone mark for my weight loss which feels like a really big deal so I am really chuffed about that. When I started out at well over 14 stone, it felt impossible.

As I said in a previous post, I am thinking about a diet break, ie eating at maintenance for my goal weight, for a bit so now that I have hit 3 stone, it seems a good time to start it. I have set my goal weight as 11 stone and the maintenance calories based on exercising 4-5 times a week are 2143 so that is what I will be aiming for over the next few weeks.

Morning all. I went a bit bonkers yesterday and ate too much. Back on it today though. Really need a kick up the bum as I'm so close to being a size 12.

Determined to be good today. Just made banana, yoghurt and chia seeds for breakfast and planned my tea. I will bloody do this,

@NerrSnerr that was me last weekend! Literally ate everything in sight all evening and felt so shit about myself and like it was all pointless. Then when I was looking at my Fitbit app, I saw that it said 2 kg from goal weight and I thought wtf, I’m so close (it used to say 20kg from goal) so why am I stressing about one day of bad eating when I’ve come so far. It made me put it all into perspective, as well as reading some articles online about how little actually gets stored as fat if you overeat on one day. You can do it!

Howmanysleepsnow · 10/10/2020 08:43

@MirandaWest that’s a great loss overall, and brilliant you can continue to lose without tracking calories. That shows a real lifestyle change, well done!
@Shedtheload 3 stone is awesome.

I’m a lb down from yesterday at 9st 11lb and hoping it doesn’t go back on tomorrow.

I need to plan ahead a bit better I've had a few days of boring eating, I just need to get shopping and stock up on healthy options to choose from. My kids are pretty fussy eaters and it really means that I hate cooking dinner. They often groan when I dish up and it's so draining! It's hard to stay healthy when you'd love to just hang your head against a wall!

Ecci · 10/10/2020 14:48

@Shedtheload 3 stone is a fantastic achievement, so pleased for you.

@peanutbutterdog Slow and steady works for me too, good to know I'm not the only one. I'm hoping that I've developed a way of eating that will stick after I reach my target. I'm down another pound today, very surprised and pleased after losing nothing in September.

The only thing I've changed is that I'm mostly having porridge instead of toast for breakfast. I still have to make a slice of toast, though, as these two beauties expect a bit of toast at breakfast time. If they don't get it, they stare at me reproachfully and I feel very guilty. I guess they've got me well trained.

Finally I'm 10st13! That's 1.5st lost so far. I just been to keep it up.

I haven't had time for exercise this weekend as my husband has been away (and I don't have the energy or the inclination once their asleep) but I have a couple of classes next week. Just need to plan my meals for today, might stick a curry in the slow cooker for tea.

10st 12 ish today. Had a mixed week and the weight loss is mainly from a couple of busier lower calorie days. Happy with the loss and hoping to get down to 10st 7 this month.

I am 40 and have to start a life long immuno suppressant for a condition I have next week, with a scary list of side effects,
so not being overweight is everything. On the good side there was a study done that found the drug can help prevent skin ageing, so at least I will have good skin Smile.
