Evening all!

Welcome to the lose 7lbs per month thread for spooky October! My second favourite time of the year! Big coats, snuggly scarves, pumpkins, ghosties and toffee apples!

Link to previous thread is here The September 7lb per month challenge! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4013012-the-september-7lb-per-month-challenge

I only lost 3lbs last month (booooooo) but have really upped the exercise in the last couple of days so hopeful I will start seeing proper losses again.

All are welcome, whatever programme or diet you are following. We just stick together and raise each other up which has worked so far and I've seen some amazing results from you lovely regulars :)

See you in the morning ready for first weigh in!!

Up 1lb this morning but I had my sister over yesterday, haven't seen her in so long but we made a decision to be her support bubble as she lives alone. We had wine, gin, got pizza delivered and had pringles so I fully deserved that pound! Back to yoga tomorrow though and going to get out for a walk in a little while so it will be gone again soon!

Haven't decided what to cook today yet. I think I might go through a couple of recipe books for some inspiration, the family are having some gammon and I have the choice of butternut squash, something with salad, a cauliflower, chickpeas, lots of beans and lentils? I just need an idea!

Welcome to all new joiners :) it's lovely to see some new faces about!

@TheStirrer eek hope you enjoy the yoga!! I fell over in my last class 😂 I have permanent vertigo due to nerve damage in my ear (vestibular neuritis) and just have absolutely no sense of balance, it was so embarrassing!! Thankfully the instructor knows I have no balance and we are trying to work on my core strength as that will improve it!! A good instructor will adapt some poses and movements for the less bendy amongst us 😂

@cricketmum84 when I get home I'm going to put a sweet potato and chickpea curry in the slow cooker if that's any inspiration? I doubt I'll make it to yoga tonight unless my husband finishes work early but have a class booked on Tuesday.

@NerrSnerr that sounds lovely! I could do butternut squash and chickpeas quite easily and then I would also have a few leftover portions for lunches too. And could throw in my sad looking leeks!

Monster munch and a penguin for lunch anyone? 😂

Totally @cricketmum84!

I have been very tempted by the chocolate etc but some days I've made a conscious choice to have my skyr yoghurt with chia seeds. Not the most exciting thing to eat but I know that the rewards will show on the scales.

I've also discovered the pre-made salads in aldi and have been having those for tea with fish and a little bit of dressing.

I find that as soon as I reach for carbs I pile the weight on so I'm now trying to satisfy my appetite with nibbles of cheese and meat.

Looks lots when the fat content shows high in myfitness pal but if I can stay off the carbs I can make progress.

I'll rtft later to find any ideas that others have

Haha same!! I'm veggie and trying hard to be vegan so struggle to find protein snacky bits that don't take ages to prep :( I'm also permanently tempted by a big slice of cheese even though I'm trying hard not to eat it!!

I need to start batch prepping a homemade hummous on a weekend I think and have it with veggie sticks.

I had a cheese related win at lunchtime, I made pasta and wanted a load of cheese so I measured out 100g which took me about 200 cals over my limit so I put 70gs of it in a tub and only put 30 on my pasta. Curry is in the slow cooker so my meals are sorted for the day.

Got my curry in the slow cooker. I went for celery, leeks, mushrooms, red pepper and artichoke hearts :)

I seem to have put on over 2lbs since Friday Hmm Obviously I haven't so I'm hoping it comes back down tomorrow. I went for a long walk in the rain yesterday and did yoga today for the first time since I was in hospital.
We ordered tonnes of treats last week so they're arriving every day just now and I'm having to try very hard to limit myself. Blush It's also my birthday this month. We're in local lockdown so I'm thinking of hosting an online party ... perhaps a murder mystery or an escape room. Does anyone have any other ideas?

I ran 10k this morning in an event at a local airfield - felt very good having done it.

After a fairly rubbish September in terms of weight loss my October is going quite well and I have definitely realised that to lose weight I need to track what I’m eating and not snack Grin

I'm 9lb from target. I've got to stay focused and remember that it'll be worth it in the end!

Well tried really hard all weekend and decided to have a sneaky weigh Monday morning ( I weigh Friday mornings) and have put on! This is the worst. Think it must be last week's festivities catching up but can be disheartening. Not a good start to my October blitz. Going to try harder for the next few days before next weigh.

Well, I have lost 1lb this week. I didn't put my stats at the start of the month so will now.

SW: 15st5
CW: 11st
TW: 9st7 - maybe, will see when I'm around there!

Total loss - 4st5 (61lbs)

Uni starts back up today so life is about to get busy. Hope my brain remembers what to do, its been so long! Grin

@DownUdderer so close, keep going!

@Winningatseesaw it can fluctuate frequently can't it. Keep going, and only take notice of the 'official' weigh in.

Happy Monday everyone, hope you all have a great week.

I spent a weekend away as I had to drive 6h to pick up DH. That meant 7 in the car each way, hardly any steps, dinner out, lunch out and a service station McDonald’s on the way home.
No surprise I’ve gained 1.5lb as my calories were around 1500 a day! Still gutted though as I’d tried so hard for so long. Back on it today and hoping I can shake a couple of lbs this week to get back in the 9s

How often do you guys weigh in?

Report
GetTheStartyParted · 05/10/2020 08:37

@MsMiaWallace I weigh whenever I feel like it, usually 2 or 3 times a week but the only one that I record is the Monday one.

I weigh in every morning. I feel like that keeps me focused day after day. I've only been trying to lose weight for a month. I just feel like I need to concentrate every day at the moment.

I can see a couple of people have had bad weeks or weigh-ins, keep on keeping on! Remember to drink plenty of water to flush the fat down the toilet!

I'm just counting down the last few days of the school holidays! The holidays are lovely when the kids are being lovely, but when they all start fighting! Argh!

I weigh every day. I find it keeps me on track.

I'm still on 11st1 but not complaining after takeaway on Friday and beer on Saturday. Had a hectic but lovely weekend with the children. I have already made a lentil bolognese (from one of the pinch of nom books) so will have that for lunch and tea. Have another 2 portions frozen for later in the week too. I didn't exercise this weekend as husband worked from 6am- 7pm both weekend days so I didn't have time but have a yoga class booked tomorrow. I'm determined to stay under my calories this week so I can finally get into the 10s and get to 1.5 stone loss!

I've been weighing daily too since mid September and am keeping a log to try to see trends. I had a weekend of only just staying in calorie count whereas I usually have a couple of hundred spare at the end of each day. This was mainly due to having a big lunch rather than my usual workday salad. Also planning to hit the gym this evening.

I weigh once a week on a Sunday. That seemed to be the theme with the thread, to check in weekly. I sometimes hop on in the week if I am curious/impatient or sometimes deliberately don't, but I don't get hung up about the result either way. The point is general downward trend over time. 1-2lb loss a week, accepting that some weeks nothing will shift! I was 12st, now 10st 13.5 Grin

TheStirrer · 05/10/2020 13:41

I try to weigh once a week otherwise any increases / decreases tend to impact my day when quite often they are just random fluctuations. I think it’s quite an individual thing.....
@cricketmum84 Thanks for the reassurance re yoga. Will definitely let the instructor know I am a completely unbendy, unbalanced newbie. Will let you know if I can move on weds....Grin
