So I’m fed up of being fat, and it’s time to take action.
Lately my skin has been a mess and periods have stopped, I’ve had numerous tests and it looks like obesity is the cause 😩.
I am so embarrassed but fuck it.
I am currently 30, 5’4 and weigh 18 stone.
I’d like to get down to 10 stone eventually but even a stone or two would motivate me.
As of tomorrow no more shit!

Would anyone like to join?
Wether you have a lot (like me!) or a little to lose!

I think sometimes fresh start is a good plan..

I treated myself to granola yoghurt for a treat...I haven't been this motivated in a long time.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 15/08/2020 21:38

Can I join please.

Just come back from a short holiday and I spent the whole time feeling fat and uncomfortable.

I'm 5'2" and weigh 13 stone 3lb - that's 20lb more than this time last year and I was overweight then!

Ideally I'd like to lose 3 stone but I'd be happy with 2

I'm calorie counting using MFP - I did it about 5 years ago and lost 2.5 stone but the bad habits of snacking and eating too much have meant it has all gone back on.

I'm only on day 2 and the trouble is even though I've eaten really healthy meals and substantial meals today and had all my calories I feel empty. I realise this is just because I am used to overeating and it will pass but it's horrible. Usually at this time of night I'd be tucking into half a dozen biscuits!

I've also been drinking lots of water and feel as if I have spent all my time going to the loo.

I'm tracking my meals on an Instagram Account - I started to do it a while back and it helped me to remember meals I had enjoyed as I had a visual record.

Hi @RuudGullitOnAShed i'm the same need to loose over 3 stone.
Weighed myself this morning, somehow managed to loose about 2oz so glad it wasn't a gain.
Meant to be having a bbq later so i'm sure the calorie counting will be out the window today lol

HJ2020 · 16/08/2020 10:08

Can I join? 😄 started end of December but with no routine thanks to Covid iv only managed to lose 1.5 Stone!! I did lose 2 but seem to be losing and gaining the same 7LBs over and over!

Decided to do 2 shakes a day to kick start it again until DD goes back to nursery and we have some routine because at the min sitting at home all day just means I want to eat!

Start weight 18 St 6
Current weight 16 St 12.2
Goal weight 11 St 6!

Hope this group keeps me motivated 😵

NeverTwerkNaked · 16/08/2020 10:49

Please can I join? Also 5 ft 4 and I weight just under 13 stone. I used to be 8stone before children and I hate seeing my reflection because I don't look like me.

I have started gently by trying to get out for walks. I am finding listening to podcasts while I walk helps me feel I am getting me time.

I am trying to ear more healthily but it is hard when DH and the kids can eat whatever and stay slim. Yesterday they had Domino's so I had a salad. Today they want to go to a restaurant for lunch. ... It is much easier to make healthy choices when they aren't eating junk food in front of me!

NeverTwerkNaked · 16/08/2020 10:51

One thing I find is if I walk at the start of the evening I feel less tempted to snack (despite slim DH ploughing through mounds of snacks). No idea why that is?!

RuudGullitOnAShed · 16/08/2020 10:55

@NeverTwerkNaked I’ve been walking the dogs every evening (usually let DH do it) and I find it helpful. The trouble is it’s fine when I’m on holiday but I know when term starts (teacher) I’m in less likely to feel like walking and I’m more likely to be tempted to snack.

I just need to keep reminding myself how uncomfortable it is to have a giant, protruding stomach!

Starlightstarbright1 · 16/08/2020 15:52

I am finding I am achieving more as I am keeping myself busy .

I did half an hour on the wii today - mainly thinking it is weigh in day tomorrow .

Idle hands definitely means snacks for me .

I am having breakfast fruit and yoghurt most days which I was skipping mostly but then have lunch a bit later and tea a bit later so it helps in evenings.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 16/08/2020 17:01

I'm always starving by the time we eat in the evening (usually about 7pm) so today I had a midmorning brunch and then an afternoon snack of fruit salad and yogurt - going to see if that helps

Sadly, that won't be possible when I go back to work but maybe bt then I'll be used to eating less calories and not feel so empty

Zazu44 · 16/08/2020 19:25

Another 5'4 chub here, going for smaller portions/healthy food/ more active. Hate the scales and am going to go on tightness of clothes (which are very tight). Have a tendency to binge/ emotional eat, am going write down and calorie count. X

NeverTwerkNaked · 16/08/2020 20:16

Is anyone setting themselves a goal/reward? I really love stand up paddle boarding so think I am going to try and save up as I lose weight and treat myself to a board when I reach 10st (3st to lose!). I would like to get to the 9 st mark eventually but I hope by 10 stone I might have got out of all my bad habits.

I am definitely an emotional eater /stress eater and life has been so stressful over last decade (divorcing abusive ex and all sorts of continued awfulness from him).I have also prioritised everything else, work, family, hushamd etc over keeping fit.i think DH has realised it will.help.if he joins me on exercising so we have been swimming today and also went for a walk this evening it feels good that he is starting to join me in doing this

Submariner · 16/08/2020 21:52

Twerk that sounds like a great reward. Have you thought about giving yourself smaller weekly/monthly treats to keep you going in the meantime?

I have been really pleased with how well I have stuck to my calories this week. I'm going to slightly adjust my 'rules' for this week.

  • Still walking every day, now I also want to do 1 workout of some kind this week too. Will just be on YouTube this week as we're off on holiday, but will be getting some day passes to the gym after that.
  • 3 alcohol free days this week.
  • Eating between 8 and 8. Although I have been doing 7 till 9 this week, I tend to eat breakfast later and finish snacking earlier, so shouldn't be too hard.

I'm not going to worry about calories on holiday though.

Weigh day tomorrow 🤞

RuudGullitOnAShed · 16/08/2020 21:55

I'm very reward driven - currently trying to decide what to treat myself to for each 10lb loss Smile

My overeating is a combination of greed (I literally eat until I feel ill if I like something) and habit. I've realised that every time I need to go into the kitchen I eat something - a biscuit/packet of crisps/piece of cheese - and working from home for so many weeks meant there were lots of opportunities to do this!

Starlightstarbright1 · 16/08/2020 22:02

I have sort if rewarding myself paying for gym phobics

I have definitely been home too long i am loving my hour out of the house

NeverTwerkNaked · 16/08/2020 23:05

@Submariner yes have been mulling over the idea of smaller rewards too. Any ideas /inspiration welcomed Smile. I am terrible at spending money in myself, everything goes on the kids, and I think that is all bound up in never prioritising exercise etc too, everything else comes first.

I'm trying to remember to do things like doing some home pampering or even just having an hour in the garden with my book. I suppose I haven't done these so much as rewards though. I quite like the idea of set rewards, but for me it would be for effort over the week, not for weight loss I think, as sometimes you're just not in control of how much comes off (or goes back on!!) 😆

Starlightstarbright1 · 17/08/2020 07:46

I have lost 2lbs this week. Total now 6 1/2 lbs

Submariner · 17/08/2020 08:34

Well done! That's brilliant!

My scales are down for the week, but I made the mistake of weighing halfway through the week too and it's not as low as it was then. Trying to ignore!

dollypops15 · 17/08/2020 08:38

Count me in. I'm.2 days late to the chat but oh my god I'm a fat mess

tibni · 17/08/2020 09:15

Hi can I join too please. I have about 3 1/2 stone I need to lose. Started MFP (again) and noticed the last couple of times I started I was at exactly this weight.
Logically I know I need to make long term changes and not focus on scales. I've lost the weight before but not in a way I can sustain.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 17/08/2020 12:39

Well done @Starlightstarbright1! That's a great loss.

@dollypops15 'Fat Mess' is exactly how I would describe myself!
I have a hairdressers appointment on Wed (first time since December) and I have decided that next time I am sat in the chair I will be looking at a lighter version of myself!

RuudGullitOnAShed · 17/08/2020 12:42

@tibni - at least you are only the same size as last time - I'm 15lb heavier than I was at my heaviest! I think that (and my very unflattering holiday photos) were the tipping point.
We were staying in a very instagramable spot and there were loads of tine hand-span-waist women and girls having their photos taken against a beautiful backdrop and their was I looking like a sack of spuds with a bit of string around the middle

dollypops15 · 17/08/2020 12:42

Im 5.1 and want to look attractive. Ive struggled since having my second child 6 years ago

@RuudGullitOnAShed I got back from holiday Saturday and spent my time positioning myself behind family members in photos.
I had to buy new jeans before I went and kept putting it off until my last pair literally wore into a hole. With Covid you can't try on so I was searching for jeans with max stretch as I didn't leave myself time to return as I don't enjoy clothes shopping at this size. May I add M&S have some very forgiving stretchy jeans!
I have 101 reasons why the weight has gone back on, but I'm trying to focus on moving on and sorting it!
