So I’m fed up of being fat, and it’s time to take action.
Lately my skin has been a mess and periods have stopped, I’ve had numerous tests and it looks like obesity is the cause 😩.
I am so embarrassed but fuck it.
I am currently 30, 5’4 and weigh 18 stone.
I’d like to get down to 10 stone eventually but even a stone or two would motivate me.
As of tomorrow no more shit!

Would anyone like to join?
Wether you have a lot (like me!) or a little to lose!

5'4 too and 13st here, struggling to fit in my clothes

unstableunicorn · 05/08/2020 09:25

Using myfitnesspal and attempting to walk regularly and try running on the treadmill until I'm fit/brave enough to do it in public without looking like a malfunctioning blob Blush

NameChange564738 · 05/08/2020 21:05

Oh lord I have been awful.

No diet in sight so far.

I have taken the step and written down measurements/taken photos.. maybe the next step will be batch cooking so I don’t have to think about it

Minnie123456 · 06/08/2020 08:03

5ft 3 and 13stone 8.5lbs Blush looking to loose just over 3 stone, going to use MFP (again!!!)and get out walking more, also refusing to buy bigger clothes so need to loose weight

basilika · 06/08/2020 08:10

I haven't been doing that well since Saturday (2 lunches out this week!) but I haven't put on weight. DH and I watched the Michael Moseley programme on C4 last night, and have decided we're going to do it together - he's only got 2 stone to lose (in reality i've got 6!). Weeks m hoping doing it together will help.

Starlightstarbright1 · 06/08/2020 08:37

Can I join . I am 5ft4” .

I have joined gym phobics and doing low carb - sugars . I have been eating so badly since lockdown anything that isn’t processed or junk food is a great improvement

Spaghettihooplas · 06/08/2020 08:37

I am using a tracker but because I’m not planning meals and then during the day I’m busy and just grab something quick which isn’t always the best option. Planning definitely makes it easier for me @middleager
Got a few days out which makes it harder too.
I have been walking more to try and make up for it but won’t weigh myself until the week has passed. On Saturday I’m making a food plan

Spaghettihooplas · 06/08/2020 08:38

Also meant to say that once I know I’ve eaten something bad I don’t use the tracker anymore....suppose that’s the worst thing

Starlightstarbright1 · 07/08/2020 07:35

I am like that with the scales - if I think it is going to be bad I avoid .

unstableunicorn · 07/08/2020 08:39

Me too, I generally avoid scales until I think I'm at an okayish weight, I look at how my clothes fit and inches lost in the meantime, but think this time I'm going to have to suck it up and face the scales regularly!

basilika · 07/08/2020 10:37

I'm another one who stops logging food if I go slightly off track, I also have a tendency to have an 'in for a penny, in for a pound mentality' which means one small fall off the wagon snowballs into eating everything. I had a really good day yesterday. I'm trying to use the heat of the next few days to motivate me, I can't stand the heat and I know my weight makes it so much worse. 3 summers ago I was 20lbs heavier than I am now and if I walked anywhere in the heat I wouldn't stop sweating for 20mins afterwards. I already cope better than I used to, but another 20lbs would make a big difference.

Minnie123456 · 07/08/2020 18:26

Same, once I start eating rubbish I stop tracking my food which doesn't help.

unstableunicorn · 07/08/2020 18:58

Whoa, I've been doing this 16 8 thing for four days now and actually seeing a difference in my appetite already, I've had roughly 1200 calories today and just finished a very small portion of salmon and broccoli for dinner and I'm stuffed! Before I would've had double that portion and still could've fit in an ice cream

Starlightstarbright1 · 07/08/2020 22:12

I am trying to cut out snacks to stop my body expecting food so frequently.

I hope like yours it starts to have different expectations

Namechange8471 · 07/08/2020 22:51

How does 16:8 work?

OP posts:
unstableunicorn · 08/08/2020 01:16

You get a window to eat, so 16 hours fasting and 8 hours to eat, you can choose the hours. I do 11am-7pm. You don't have to calorie restrict but you end up eating less anyway because of the smaller time frame. Cuts out my evening snacking which was a big problem for me! Did just munch two midnight biscuits though Blush

Sootthus · 08/08/2020 01:30

I'm late to the party but can I join?

5ft4 and probably 2 or 3 stone to lose.

Submariner · 08/08/2020 12:54

I need to get on board with this. This time last year I was using MFP and was a stone lighter than today. I'm pushing the top edge of the healthy BMI range for the first time in my life and look much better at probably 1.5 to 2 stone lighter. I used to walk everywhere pre-lockdown which gave me a lot more leeway than I realised, plus I have treated lockdown like the days between Christmas and New year and just eaten and drunk what I fancied all the time. Just coming to terms with the fact that I'll be WFH for the foreseeable so I have to take responsibility for being healthy again. 😩

Sootthus · 09/08/2020 00:34

@Submariner what is MFP?

notangelinajolie · 09/08/2020 00:39

Joining you.
Slight head start as I haven't eaten much for the best part of 3 days due to ibs flare up, however despite drinking and eating nothing but water I still weigh the same as I did on Thursday Confused

MrsEricBana · 09/08/2020 00:55

Hi all, I am 5"4' and overweight too. There's a definite pattern here! I have been doing WW for going on 6 weeks now and getting steady results. I did the Michael Mosley Blood Sugar Diet 2 years ago, which is what he's advocating on his new show, and the weight fell off me BUT once I reached goal all I wanted to do was eat carbs 24/7 and it all went back on. WW feels much more doable/sustainable. Good luck all 💪

Hamm87 · 09/08/2020 03:22

Can I join

I am 33 and 5foot 4 and nearly 20 stone need to lose half my body weight 😫 I have reduced my food so far and walk everyday

Minnie123456 · 09/08/2020 10:22

Lost about 1/2lb from thursday, not going to weigh myself again till next sunday.

Why is it so easy to put weight on but so hard to get it off againConfused

Submariner · 09/08/2020 13:52
@Submariner what is MFP?
My Fitness Pal 😊 It's an app and website. It's just good old fashioned calorie counting but it works if you stick to it. It's free and they've also got a message board that's quite helpful.

Just signed back up and going to start logging tomorrow. Disheartening to see how little calories it recommends now that I'm sedentary though!

nodtik · 09/08/2020 14:00

I'm starting tomorrow too!!

Am 5'4" and probably weigh 11 stone

Which means I want to lose 1 stone

BMI shows that I am officially in the overweight category for the first time in my life.
