So I’m fed up of being fat, and it’s time to take action.
Lately my skin has been a mess and periods have stopped, I’ve had numerous tests and it looks like obesity is the cause 😩.
I am so embarrassed but fuck it.
I am currently 30, 5’4 and weigh 18 stone.
I’d like to get down to 10 stone eventually but even a stone or two would motivate me.
As of tomorrow no more shit!

Would anyone like to join?
Wether you have a lot (like me!) or a little to lose!

Good luck everyone I hope you manage to keep to it. I haven’t been doing great on the food front but have been more active.
Weigh day was Saturday for me and I lost 3lb. Which is good but serious risk of putting it all back on...and some...if I’m not careful xxx

Hi, can I join please?

I don't know exactly how much I weigh, I've been in denial and haven't bought scales. I'd like to lose a little first before I am totally mortified.

I'd like to lose at least a stone, maybe a stone and a half, and at least one dress size. Barely any of my clothes fit and it's time to do something about it.

I did the weekly shop yesterday and made sure I just bought the right things. I'm sort of following slimming world, but not to the letter. I did it a couple of years ago before my wedding and it worked for me, but it also cuts out a lot of healthy fats etc, which I need as also trying to conceive. So I'm trying to be sensible, get the right nutrients, but also shed some lbs..!

Sootthus · 10/08/2020 01:19

@Submariner oh lol I use my fitness pal. I wracking my brains for ages what MFP could be and it never twigged Blush

I'm on 1200 a day. Some days that feels fine others it feels like it's not half enough

Sootthus · 10/08/2020 01:19

😆 Sorry, too many abbreviations!

1200 sounds hard - I've got just under 1500 without exercise.

Good start today, got up early, had my water and my walk. Waited until 7.20 for breakfast rather than scarfing it at 5 and then having second breakfast with the kids later! Official starting weight is 10st 11lbs. Yesterday I was 10st 10 but lots of wine and ice cream happened...

basilika · 10/08/2020 07:36

Morning all, it's weigh in day for me. I'm 13st8, so that's a 5lb loss for me. I've been sticking to 1200 cals, and absolutely no snacking - it's such a hard habit to break.
I'm out for lunch nah and dinner today, which is going to be tricky, just got to keep it sensible.

Submariner · 10/08/2020 09:04

That's brilliant basilika!

My diet always starts tomorrow.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I too need to lose about 3 stone but ... yup ... always tomorrow.

I will get in the right frame of mind but now isn't the time.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 10/08/2020 09:25

Can I join please? 5ft 2 and was 15 stone when I started trying to lose last month. In a month I’ve lost 8lb which I was a bit disappointed with, however the things I have been doing have made me feel so much better mentally, stomach wise and general energy levels wise that I am still motivated. Today it looks like I’ve lost a couple more pounds but I’m not officially weighing until beginning of Sept.

Things I have done so far are similar to suggestions here: -

 • MFP at 1200 cals. I find some meals difficult to calculate and time consuming so my eating consists of only having refined carbs like rice, potatoes or bread with one meal a day. Some days I don’t eat any refined carbs but get my carbs from chickpeas, fruit etc. I have not been hungry one day.
 • limiting caffeine to two drinks per day, coffee in the am and a tea or coffee mid afternoon sometimes. I have two sugars which I am slowly shaving down but can’t go cold turkey.
 • I don’t snack in the evening anymore regularly. Perhaps once a week if I have had a particularly good day and then a couple of squares of choc and not the entire family bar I was eating. Sometimes I opt for fruit.
 • walking between 4-5 miles outside almost everyday and a walking YouTube vid when I don’t. This, I cannot tell you how much this has been a game changer for me. It makes me feel amazing and invincible (slightly ridiculous I know). I signed up to race at your pace to walk 50 miles in Aug and it’s a real boost.
 • drinking loads more water. I drink water if I feel hungry and leave it ten mins to see if I really want to eat.

What calorie counting does is make me ask myself whether I am bored eating or actually hungry.

I had a rock bottom moment that was very embarrassing and now feel like I can’t not do this. Plus I have a big birthday next summer and a dress I want to wear that is a size 10 (I’m 18-20).

Good luck everyone.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 10/08/2020 09:41

p.s. I also don’t routinely add my exercise calories to MFP. If they are over about 600 I might allow myself to go over 1200 a little if I really want something, but I don’t ‘use’ those calories if you see what I mean.

basilika · 10/08/2020 10:10

Mercedes - that's a great loss, well done.
I've been using my Fitbit to record my calories, it also automatically tracks my calories burnt (hard to tell how accurately) so I can see my deficit each day.
The biggest thing that has helped me is giving up Diet Coke, it's been a struggle and has taken me 2 years, but I think I've got there. I've only had 2 cans since the beginning of lockdown and both times I've ended up binging later in the day, so definitely staying away from it from now on.
Good luck everyone.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 10/08/2020 10:18

Well done on the Diet Coke. I know that I a really tough one to give up.

Submariner · 10/08/2020 12:22

Great work Mercedes! 8lb sounds like a good sustainable loss for a month. I am planning to eat my MFP exercise calories, but I'll see how it goes.

Starlightstarbright1 · 10/08/2020 20:39

I lost 41/2lbs first week pleased with that.

Sootthus · 11/08/2020 02:04

@Submariner I feel MFP have stitched me up with my 1200!

Sootthus · 11/08/2020 02:05

I'm actually trying 16:8 currently so will see how that goes. I feel like I have consumed less. I would normally snack in the evening

Submariner · 11/08/2020 09:14
@Submariner I feel MFP have stitched me up with my 1200!
In all seriousness, would it be worth setting it at a slower rate of loss so you get a few more calories? I would be starving on 1200!

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 11/08/2020 09:25

Well done Starlight. That’s amazing.

I agree, if 1200 is too little then maybe try for 1500 or similar. If you are hungry or miserable because of it you will just give up .

I went over yesterday as we had takeaway and I was just not full so ate extra stuff. I’m not beating myself up. I ate half the takeaway when I would normally eat the whole lot and myextras were mostly fruit. I’ll eat the other half of takeaway for dinner tonight but try to have a good day around that.

EstherLittle · 11/08/2020 10:25

I weighed myself yesterday and realised that I am now heavier than when I was 9 months pregnant with DD2.

13st 11 lbs at 5 ft 6.

I have been so sweaty and listless in this heat and I know my weight is making my hip injury worse,

I am trying 16:8. I’m also cutting our all snacks and keeping my carbs down.

I am doing couch 2 5 k with DD1 but I just can’t run in this heat.

Submariner · 12/08/2020 17:15

How are we all getting on? Mercedes did the other day go to plan?
Esther I know what you mean about exercising in this heat!

I am on day 3 and so far have stayed within my calories. At the moment I am focusing on trying to get a walk in every day (haven't today - very hectic day!), only eating between 7am and 9pm (will gradually reduce this) and having more alcohol free days (she says as she sips a cider!). But the last two days were alcohol free and I am sticking to my one small can today. Just going to enjoy it in the sunshine!!

Minnie123456 · 13/08/2020 22:54

Well done to everyone that has lost.

I'm dreading weigh in on Sunday, i've had a rubbish week food wise. Af is due, it would of been my nannys birthday this week she passed away start of this year & dh is decorating so house is upside down. Really struggling to get back on track.

Starlightstarbright1 · 13/08/2020 23:41

Have you watched 21 days to loose a stone ? Some of the statics on there are shocking 63% of adults are overweight or obese

I think it was 2 in 5 women don’t last a week so celebrate every achievement even if it isn’t the goal for the day.

Submariner · 14/08/2020 06:07

Be kind to yourself Minnie, don't put pressure on to be perfect at the same time. Agree withStarlight, every little step is better than nothing.

Minnie123456 · 15/08/2020 10:15

Thank you @Starlightstarbright1 and @Submariner.
Writing this week off and starting again.
Ordered myself some gym leggings and tshirts to encourage me to go walking.
Saw that advertisied haven't watched it though.

Submariner · 15/08/2020 10:31

That sounds like a good plan. A walk would be a good escape from the house chaos too. Been doing a bit of that myself this week!
