I have 10-14lbs to lose to start feeling comfortable in myself again. I'm 5' 6.

9 stone is my fighting weight but I'm at least 10 stone now, and I know it's going to continue creeping up.

I look at threads already going on here but when lots of people are already on I feel like I get lost on it Grin

So I'm aiming to start Monday, not sure what plan I'll be following yet, but will have to eat less and exercise more as I've noticed my thighs are rubbing a little and got some fat on my back etc.

Oh well done @ mustard, 4 lb is alot, looks like the michael moseley is working. I was toying with it but will stick to slimming world this week and maybe do it when i get back from my so far non existant holiday.
And an inch of the tummy is grea, i also measured mine last week and need to get rid of some belly fat.

Mustardpot · 14/08/2020 13:12

Thanks Humphriescushion, I am measuring my slimmest part under rib age where I dip in (waist) not belly button which I know is where some people measure for waist. I guess if I keep measuring in the same spot that’s all that matters. I’m not following MM in the sense I don’t weigh food or calorie count, just avoiding bread, pasta, rice and potatoes and upping the veg which I love anyway. Crisps are my nemesis, none in the house right now.

Humphriescushion · 15/08/2020 08:17

I measure the narrowest part of my waist as well, it is way too scary if measure around my belly button, i would have no chance of ever getting my waist there below the recommended number. Would be very disheartening.

Swearwolf · 15/08/2020 08:46

I measure that part of my waist too. Completely agree - as long as you're measuring the same part each time that's all that matters!

Egghead68 · 15/08/2020 09:00

I’m still 68.3kg but my shape has changed noticeably (I’m doing 8 hours of light to moderate exercise a week). I’m reasonably happy as long as I’m not gaining. Hope everyone is doing well.

pigear · 15/08/2020 15:43

I've lost another pound. It's taken a week and a bit of staying the same then a drop. I've lost 6 and a half pounds since my first post, so in about 5 weeks. It's not fast but it's happening.

I also measure the narrowest part of my waist as the belly button waist is way too big! Even the narrow part isn't under 31 which the NHS says it should be for women and that's despite my bmi being comfortably below 25. I think I'm 22 point something. Looking at myself though there is still plenty of fat to lose so maybe once I've lost another 9lbs my waist will be smaller.

Egghead68 · 15/08/2020 17:32

Good work @pigear.

Just measured my waist - 29 inches so only just under 31 and my BMI is 22.4.

Egghead68 · 15/08/2020 17:42

Today I’ve eaten
Fruit salad, cake, ice cream (600)
Beans/grains/salad/chutney (500)
I small glass wine (100)
3 bags baked crisps (300)
1 ice lolly (66)
1 piece Turkish delight (100)

Tomorrow’s plan:
Fruit/ice-cream/cake (600)
Pizza (500) salad (100)
1 bag baked crisps (100)
1 small glass of wine (100)

pigear · 15/08/2020 19:09

Thanks @Egghead68. We are at almost the same bmi.

I've just checked. My waist is 32 inches and bmi is 22.5. Seems a bit rubbish really.

Will be interested to see whether it gets a decent bit smaller with further weight loss.

I am pretty happy to have reached the 10 stones band as it's been a couple of years at least since I last managed it am 10 stone 9 at mo.

Egghead68 · 15/08/2020 19:14

It’s stupid isn’t it. I don’t know how they come up with these arbitrary figures for waist size.

pigear · 15/08/2020 21:00

I do think it is a bit daft because surely if you are tall and have a wider bone structure then your waist will be bigger.

Egghead68 · 15/08/2020 21:04

Well exactly.

Egghead68 · 16/08/2020 08:03

67.9kg BMI 22.1 I’ll take that for now!

Just seen where “waist” measurements are supposed to be taken! I think my “waist” is about 33” in that case. I can’t see it ever being below 31.

Humphriescushion · 20/08/2020 19:21

Hope everyone having a good week. Mine was so so, mostly ok but not so good today and have to weigh tomorrow - tempted not to but I know that it then gets worse when I dont face it.
Going on holiday on monday which is lovely, but have not lost any weight so feeling a bit gloomy and porky. Will try not too put any on in the holiday.
Suppose my mantra is going to be slow and steady bla bla ( could not get much slower if i tried!)

TheNewLook · 20/08/2020 19:37

Well, I shouldn’t be here this week - supposed to be away but had to cancel due to quarantine! But of a bummer but the one upside is I am spared the challenge of yummy hotel breakfasts and moorish cocktails etc I can keep on the plan and lose a few more pounds. I’d factored the holiday in and was just aiming to try to stay the same and not gain. So there’s that...

becsr · 20/08/2020 20:03

Hi I've just joined Mumsnet and I would love to join this group. A bit scared to weight myself at the moment - I will do it on Monday!

Humphriescushion · 21/08/2020 08:36

Oh so sorry about your holiday @ thenew, is so disappointing for you, my holiday was cancelled because of quarantine too, but we have managed to changed plans. It really is rubbish for you though.
@ becar, hello and welcome. I hate getting on the scales for the first time, i console myself that if i know the situation i can start to do something, things get bad for me when I avoid the scales and i creep up till nothing fits! So good luck for monday. It helps to check in here and write it down.
Got on the scales this morning reluctantly, feel a bit bloated and wobbly so did not want to. Was ok 63.4 - from 63.9 - not even a kilo but going to look on the bright side and is a pound and going down not up.
My losses atm for slimming world are very small, not sure why but trying not to get disheartened and keep going.
Wont bother measuring waist this week cant see half a kilo doing much there Grin
Good luck everyone.

kirstinm · 22/08/2020 09:16

Hello all, checking back in! I've been back at work in a busy restaurant and doing pretty much full time hours as they have been so crazy! Not good for my dissertation but turns out to be good for my weight loss. I weighed in this morning at 10 stone 6 which is 10lb down from where I started. My ultimate goal is 9 stone 7 but we will see. How is everyone getting on?

Egghead68 · 22/08/2020 09:38

Well done @kirstinm! I’ve not had the best few days food wise (once I lose the habit on one day I find it hard to get back to) but I’m 67.8kg so not too bad (prelockdown was 63.2kg). Getting there slowly!

pigear · 23/08/2020 22:35

1.8 lbs down since last weigh, it seems to slow and i wobble around the same sort of weight for a week or 2 then suddenly drop. Im 10 stone 7.2 pounds now. Really pleased to be half way through the 10s.

Egghead68 · 24/08/2020 09:09

67.9kg after a bad few days. I seem to have lost my groove a bit.

TheNewLook · 26/08/2020 22:01

18lb down here. It’s taken ten weeks so it’s rather slow and steady but I’m ok with that.

We are having a little holiday now, just a few days away in a nice hotel - in total I won’t be logging MFP for five days, just can’t be bothered trying to add it up and you never know what ingredients have been used so it’s pretty useless guessing. Just have to TRY to make fairly good choices I suppose and accept that I probably won’t lose this week. Staying the same would be fine.

Funny how it makes me feel anxious all the same. I suppose at the back of my mind I’m worried I’ll enjoy the days off too much and chuck the towel in! Hope not. This really feels like my big opportunity to shift every last pound that’s been weighing me down in every sense for about the last three years.

Writing it down here helps to remind me of that!

🤞🏼 🤞🏼

Egghead68 · 27/08/2020 07:03

Had a whoosh and now 67.2kg. Happy with that as I’ve not been massively disciplined.

pigear · 29/08/2020 14:25

Thats great @Egghead68.

@TheNewLook 18 pounds in 10 weeks is brilliant. Its taken me 14 weeks to loose 18 pounds. Hope you have a lovely holiday. Your eating plans sound sensible and I'm sure even if you eat a bit extra, you will be able to get back into it when you get home.

I'm down another 0.8lbs so happy about that.

Egghead68 · 29/08/2020 15:39

Nicely done @pigear!
