Anyone want to join to lose up to a stone?

I have 10-14lbs to lose to start feeling comfortable in myself again. I'm 5' 6.

9 stone is my fighting weight but I'm at least 10 stone now, and I know it's going to continue creeping up.

I look at threads already going on here but when lots of people are already on I feel like I get lost on it Grin

So I'm aiming to start Monday, not sure what plan I'll be following yet, but will have to eat less and exercise more as I've noticed my thighs are rubbing a little and got some fat on my back etc.

I always exercise on an empty stomach too. I believe it’s better for weight loss as your body has the chance to burn stored fat rather than the food you’ve just consumed. (Not very scientific but that’s the gist of it).

Egghead68 · 30/07/2020 20:32

Plan for tomorrow:
B: Berries & Tart 500
L: Biriyani & Roast veg 450
D/S: Crudités & Tzatsiki 150, 2oz nuts 320

I came on to create a thread about losing a stone and then saw this! The doctor told me I need to lose a stone which she thinks is ‘easily achievable’ but I love my food! I know I’m late to the thread! Is it ok to join? Can anyone get me up to speed? Star

Egghead68 · 30/07/2020 22:14

Come and join us @Anotherfreshstart! Some of us (me) haven’t lost much yet so you’ve not missed anything.
I think people are using a variety of techniques. I’m going for (not very strict) calorie-counting and trying to step up my exercise. Official thread weigh-day is Monday.

Anotherfreshstart · 30/07/2020 22:30

Thank you! The first thing I need to do is get a weighing scales so Grin. I think I enjoyed the gorging during lockdown a little too much!

One stone doesn’t seem like too much but it certainly won’t ‘fall off!’ [sips more wine & takes another bite of toast]

Egghead68 · 31/07/2020 06:13

Weighed as was feeling thin and am 68.8kg - a whole 100g off since Monday. This is painfully slow...

Anotherfreshstart · 31/07/2020 08:33

Slow & steady works best! I’m curious now. I never weigh myself but I need to start before Monday. Mission buy a scales today.

Mustardpot · 31/07/2020 11:08

Hi everyone, I am still here but not doing any of the things I should. Lost my mojo. I will get back on it at some point. Period due (excuses excuses).

Egghead68 at least you feel thinner, you have probably lost inches. I feel fat and bloated (Horrible word) but it is very hot today.

Anotherfreshstart · 31/07/2020 11:14

A mate of mine is ‘naturally skinny’ but guess what? No one is! I

Anotherfreshstart · 31/07/2020 11:20

I went on holidays with her and this is what she does without even Knowing :

  • she exercises every day in some way.
  • she eats 3 meals & never snacks apart from
at big occasions.
  • she rarely eats dessert.
  • she pawns off half her dinner on other people (super annoying but explains how she eats less).
  • She never ever eats junk food except at occasions.
  • she eats very slowly.
  • she rarely eats after 8pm.

Everyone says to her ‘you’re so lucky. You can eat what you want’ but she’s doing all of the above. I’d like to try it all!

TheNewLook · 31/07/2020 11:22

I’ll be impressed if anyone manages to exercise in this heat! It’s already up to 32 where I am. Might just do a few squats in front of the fan... On the other hand, the heat tends to zap my hunger! I had an ice-lolly for breakfast! Grin

Skyliner001 · 31/07/2020 11:26

Failed to weigh in the last two Mondays. Weighed today and down from 8.12 to 8.8 and 1/3.

Have revised target weight to 8.4

Egghead68 · 31/07/2020 13:47

Great loss @Skyliner001.

Just stress-ate some ice-cream and went over calories.

Skyliner001 · 31/07/2020 13:50

@Egghead68

Great loss *@Skyliner001*.

Just stress-ate some ice-cream and went over calories.

Thank you! Our freezer is empty sadly or I would be on the ice lolly's 😊

I’ve had a takeaway & chocolate & wine tonight & a lot of carbs today. My diet will start properly with a reality check/weigh-in on Monday!

Swearwolf · 01/08/2020 07:34

Urgh, everyone, I've had another week where I've utterly failed at eating well! I now fully understand where I'm falling down, I just need to be stricter with myself. Off in a bit for a socially distant 5k run with two of the ladies from my c25k group!

Egghead68 · 01/08/2020 09:15

Enjoy your run @Swearwolf!

Yesterday was bad food wise and today is already very bad (half a bag of nuts 600 and half a daim chocolate cake 860). I’ll see if I can pull it back with exercise and fasting.

Stradivari · 01/08/2020 21:48

Hello! Just checking in before weigh in tomorrow.. I’ve had a good week of eating: calories have been between 1200-1300kcal everyday and I’ve exercised 4 out of 6 days with another session planned tomorrow, so feeling very positive! Hopefully the scales compliment my hard work! I have to say the late night bloating has been nonexistent so my stomach is much flatter in shape (not in tub though Grin )

Anotherfreshstart · 02/08/2020 08:21

That’s great @Stradivari
I need to take a leaf out of your book. I had pie yesterday.

Stradivari · 02/08/2020 08:43

Well I’m baffled! In a good way... last sunday I weighed myself at 66kg and today I weigh 63.8kg. Is this the fabled water weight?? I certainly don't feel like I’ve lost 2.2kg - thats 4 pounds in a week! Same scale and same place

kirstinm · 02/08/2020 08:44

Hi all, as usual I had a good week till yesterday when I had breakfast out. I just had a half portion of eggs benedict but I did have two lattes as well. Going to try and be really good today and see if I can pull it back. I just feel a bit frustrated that I can't seem to have one more relaxed day a week without gaining weight.

Egghead68 · 02/08/2020 09:02

Well-deserved loss @Stradivari!

Surely the odd half portion of Eggs Benedict won’t do much damage @kirstinm?

I’m back up to 69.5kg this morning. Oh well.

Swearwolf · 02/08/2020 09:34

Ooh well done @Stradivari!

I just weighed myself too. I've had a terrible week, I've had a few days out where I haven't really kept an eye on my eating, and am feeling generally bad about the week. It was my period week which always hits me quite hard and I usually end it a couple of pounds heavier.

I'm still 10.2 - not a loss, but not a gain either! So all I have to do is try harder this week and I should get a loss. Weirdly, I am encouraged!

kirstinm · 02/08/2020 11:02

@Egghead68 I think that's why I am so frustrated...I feel like it shouldn't make a difference but it seems to? And I am being very good the rest of the time, sticking to the 1200 calories more or less and trying to exercise as well, where I can. Maybe I'm not doing enough exercise, I'm not sure.

My mum said I looked like I had lost weight when she saw me yesterday so maybe that is something?

Egghead68 · 02/08/2020 21:35

@kirstinm there doesn’t seem to be any logic to it sometimes does there.

I agree with others that overall if we are eating less than we would normally overall it’s probably beneficial in the long-run.
