I have 10-14lbs to lose to start feeling comfortable in myself again. I'm 5' 6.

9 stone is my fighting weight but I'm at least 10 stone now, and I know it's going to continue creeping up.

I look at threads already going on here but when lots of people are already on I feel like I get lost on it Grin

So I'm aiming to start Monday, not sure what plan I'll be following yet, but will have to eat less and exercise more as I've noticed my thighs are rubbing a little and got some fat on my back etc.

Tomorrow i am having
L eggs and avo on toast with tomato salad 500kcal
D cajun salmon and roast veg with sweet potato mash 600kcal
S fruit and yoghurt 150kcal

Aiming to do a short circuit at the gym with a 2 mile run

Weighed myself today 66kg or 10 stone 6 (146lbs) so the first part of the mission is on! Half a stone takes me to under 10 stone/63kg which would be a great first goal as that is pre baby weight! Lets have a good week!!!!

Love the idea of cake for breakfast too mmmm

Hi I’m in.
I’m also 5ft 6”and over the last year have gained 12 lbs. Mind you I’ve probably lost way more than that but it’s the same 2 pounds I keep loosing over and over. Have lost the motivation but not the disgust at my new shape and additional extras..Looking forward to having some accountability and support.

Chocolatecake12 · 27/07/2020 07:10

Weighed in this morning and am delighted with a 1lb loss Smile

Egghead68 · 27/07/2020 07:16

Weigh day. 68.9kg (BMI 22.4) which is a loss of at least half a kilo this week (losing track). Pleased with that.

Your plan sounds great @Stradivari.

Good luck with the weighing everyone!

Mustardpot · 27/07/2020 10:35

Hi, yes thanks Egghead68 holiday was great. No housework, proper break. We are out every day, DH is a foodie. Well done on your loss.

6th July I was 10st 5lbs
13th July I was 9st 13 1/2 lbs
20th July I was on holiday
27th July I am 10st 4 lbs which is a BMI of 24.

So back at square one basically.

Busy day unpacking and laundry etc here. Haven’t worked out food yet. Need to get back on it.

Egghead68 · 27/07/2020 11:37

It goes like that sometimes @mustardpot :(. Glad the holiday was good!

Stradivari · 27/07/2020 13:42

Nice job @Chocolatecake12!

Went food shopping this morning and absolutely rinsed the fresh vegetable aisles, and just fully avoided the chocolate aisle...seemed smarter that way .. too easy to be tempted Grin

Chocolatecake12 · 27/07/2020 16:54

@Stradivari thank you!
I need to do the same and avoid the chocolate aisle, and all the dessert treats!
It’s hard when everyone else in the household likes all that stuff!

Egghead68 · 27/07/2020 18:54

Yes nicely done @Chocolatecake12.

SmallPinkBear · 27/07/2020 20:26

Well done to everyone who has lost this week.
I only lost .5 lb but I suppose I shouldn’t be too disappointed as I was staying with my parents so couldn’t be as strict as I would like. However it has made me more determined to get back on track this week.

Swearwolf · 27/07/2020 21:11

Well done everyone who has lost!

I've swung wildly from feeling utterly hopeless this morning, as I feel like I've been trying hard and haven't lost anything, to feeling more accountable and determined to keep going. I've cut down a lot but definitely still have some weak spots, so my plan for this week is:

  • no alcohol! I've said this all along but I'm still having the odd gin here and there. I will just drink on Friday and Saturday night, and no other time!
  • stop eating bits as I'm cooking! I managed not to right at the start, but it's crept back in.
  • be stricter with portion size, especially at dinner time.

Sounds easy right?!

Mreggsworth · 28/07/2020 08:02

@Swearwolf

I am also quite bad for eating as I cook, I've generally tried to stop doing this but the odd occasions I have just added an extra 50 or 100 calories into mfp.

I'm used to seeing all sorts of threads saying things like "help I'm eating 700 calories a day and not loosing" and think they must really be counting wrong as theres no chance. Though I'm utterly mystified right now.

I've been super strict for 9 days now. Some days not going over 1000 calories. I had one cheat meal on Saturday which was a stone baked pizza, yesterday I only ate 800 calories.

And I put on two pounds through the week and now I'm at my exact same starting weight...?

When I last tracked my calories I would loose so rapidly doing this.

I'm very confused and just getting paranoid that theres some how I'm getting more calories than I realise but don't know how as I'm weighing everything.

Swearwolf · 28/07/2020 08:07

@Mreggsworth I'm exactly the same! Even when I'm super strict about weighing everything, the weight doesn't come off. I have noticed that my body takes a couple of weeks to catch up - if I have a week where I overdo it, it doesn't show up on the scales until later. Same with losing! I just need to find the motivation to keep going even when the number on the scales isn't going down. At the moment I am genuinely trying and not losing anything. I've also been measuring and there's no change in size either, so can't even hope that it's muscle or that my shape is changing. I'm hopeful that it's my body just waiting to shed pounds!

Mreggsworth · 28/07/2020 08:59

@Swearwolf

Yes it can be very disheartening. The only thing keeping me motivated is telling myself realistically theres no way in the long run I can't loose anything so it has to catch up at some point (unless I have some metabolic or thyriod disorder - which I really don't think I have). So I'm just putting my faith in science and the whole calories in / calories out rule, just don't understand the delay!

Swearwolf · 28/07/2020 09:04

@Mreggsworth I'm thinking exactly the same thing! So I've decided to stop weighing myself for now and play the long game, I'm trying not to weigh until the end of August... but we shall see how well that goes!

kirstinm · 28/07/2020 13:04

@Swearwolf I'm considering the same - not weighing for ages, I mean. Weighing every week it has become this big 'thing' which stresses me out a lot on a Monday morning, I don't know.

I weighed exactly the same as last week yesterday - 10 stone 11.5 ish. I'm a bit conflicted - on one hand I think I kind of deserve it as I didn't have the best week, had a bottle of wine and had eggs benedict one morning as well. But I also think (like a few of you have mentioned) that I am maybe taking in more calories than I realise on a day to day basis, though I'm not entirely sure how. Also wondering if my body is adjusting/catching up as I had a big loss the first week and then put some of it back on. In short, all very confusing and also pretty frustrating!

Really trying to stick to the 1200 this week and my boyfriend is helping me as he's pretty good with it all. Trying to step up the exercise as well, we will see.

Also hoped that I had maybe lost inches but I tried on a pair of trousers that were pretty tight - guess what, they were still pretty tight! So no luck there either!

Hope you are all having a good week so far.

TheNewLook · 28/07/2020 13:56

kirstinm are you using My Fitness Pal? It’s quite an eye-opener to see the incidental calories mount up. Makes you much more conscious of what you eat. Also, don’t you think 1200 is quite low? It’s hard to stick to long-term and might just make you throw the towel in. MFP suggests 1450 to me with the aim of a 1.5lb loss each week (I changed it from 2lb because I didn’t want to do 1200). I generally end the day somewhere around 1500 and with daily exercise (which I don’t count) I am steadily/slowly losing. Some days I’m still hungry on this so at 1200 I’d be starving.

Egghead68 · 29/07/2020 06:47

Plan for today:
B: Blueberries & ice-cream 500
L: Spinach & chickpea pancake, beetroot 450
D: Veg biriyani, roast cauliflower 450

Hope everyone has a good day.

Mreggsworth · 29/07/2020 08:15

I'm managing to stay under 1200 calories quite easily at the moment. I know it's not healthy but I was just wanting to get off to a quick start to get the ball rolling, my plan when I go back to gym was to up it quite a bit though as I do weight training, so I'm thinking around 1300/1400 for then. My weekly average will always be more as I have at least one treat meal a week.

I'm doing the intermittent fasting so only eating between 12 and 6 (I don't know if these are the rules of intermittent fasting but it's what I'm doing)

For lunch I'm having my biggest meal and I'm going for high fat, so an omelette, salmon , cream cheese (with veg) etc. For tea I'm finding myself not that hungry but just craving more of a taste of something so if it's a sweet tooth I've got I'll go for a small pancake with fruit or if it's a salty taste I'll find something that appeasies that. Last few days it's just been a snack rather than a meal I think it's the big high fat lunch that's helping.

Egghead68 · 29/07/2020 17:34

Well my veg biriyani got substituted with 6 mini macarons (300), a Jaffa cake bar (100) and half a cookie (200?). I need to get my sweet tooth under control.

Swearwolf · 29/07/2020 17:39

Those doing intermittent fasting, do you find that means you can't exercise in the morning? At the moment that's the best time for me to exercise and I'm worried about going out on an empty stomach. I've lost weight in the past skipping breakfast though, so am wondering if I should go back to it.

Mreggsworth · 29/07/2020 17:46

I've not tried exercising in the morning yet I'm due to start. I'm sure I heard there were benefits to fasted exercising? Not sure if that's one of those weight loss myths though.

I have started naturally not feeling hungry till 12 si I'm hoping it isnt an issue but if you feel too hungry/weak to exercise then maybe have something light before you go? I think putting your all into exercise is more important than following the rules of intermittent fasting.

Stradivari · 29/07/2020 21:52

I had an absolutely huge meal for dinner (roast chicken, pepper, mushrooms and onions) with lettuce tomatoes cucumber green bean radish salad AND a sweet potato and it was less than 600kcal! I couldn't believe it. And I weighed everything so I know its accurate... I mean, it wasn't far off a meal I would have eaten pre-tracking, but it was amazing to look at the amount of food and KNOW how many calories I was eating.

Stradivari · 29/07/2020 21:53

@Swearwolf I exercise in the morning almost always (sometimes a lunchtime session) but always before eating. I find I can just plod through the morning without getting too hungry - today I went for a bike ride 0930-1030 and ate my lunch at 1300 (first meal of the day) so it seemed to work? WATER is your friend :)

Swearwolf · 30/07/2020 07:09

Ok, I'm going to do it, I'm going to try and wait until 11 for breakfast. I know that once I get used to it I won't be hungry until then.

Last night I ate way too big a portion and that's my downfall. I'm awful at putting the right amount on my plate! It looked fine, but once i started actually eating it, I realised there was too much. I need to be better at this! I've been mystified about why the weight won't come off and this is why.
