Following on from a certain posters 3 stone loss (well done!!) we are motivated and have dusted off our copies.

Sign up here, all are welcome. We can keep eachother company and help with motivation!

I have a huge amount of weight to shift, but my aim is 3 stone by the end of July (ready for next summer holiday)
I am hoping for 1 stone by Christmas, 1 stone by Easter and 1 stone by the Summer.

I am going to listen to the CD every night. I am also going to take a larger share of the dogwalking duties back from dh (I did this last time and the 45 minutes, 4 times a week really helped) I am also going to go swimming once a week.

I will only be weighing myself every two weeks (as per PMK's advice), and will report my loss here. (if I may)

Well done Hippi that's brill

hippipotami · 02/10/2007 08:04

Thanks guys
Had a mixed day yesterday. Dropped the dc at school and then went swimming with a friend. We did 35 lenghts, which tool 45 minutes virtually non-stop so we were very pleased with that. Then went to the cafe at the leisure centre for a coffee. Friend had jaffa cakes with her cappucino, I chose a go-ahead cereal bar thing from their healthy options. When we compared wrappers we found out that the low-fat healthy option contained more fat and calories than the packed of 3 jaffa cakes. So will have jaffa cakes next time!!

I then ate really healthily the rest of the day only to un-do it all at a friends' jewellery party last night. She had put bowls of crisps and nibbles on virtually every available surface and I think I munched my way through most of them [grrr]

It has arrived!! My book that is! From AmazonMarketplace. Only problem is it absolutely stinks of cigarette smoke

hippipotami · 02/10/2007 11:05

Urgh, Lil, that is grim! Can you leave it outside for a while? Problem is, whatever you spray onto it will just mix with the cigarette smell and it won't smell any nicer. Failing that, I would actually contact the seller and tell him/her that that is not acceptable and get a re-fund. (but then I really cannot stand cigarette smoke smell, you may feel this is an overreaction)

OP posts:
LilBloodRedWantsGore · 02/10/2007 13:13

Am tempted to do that - I can't stand the smell either, BUT I want to get going on this. I'll stick it in the garden for a while to help it air.

I listened to the CD this morning but the effect was somewhat ruined by DD waking up and shouting at the top of her voice.

I'm 10 stones 7lb (or I was when I weighed myself on Saturday - am probably more now )

LilBloodRedWantsGore · 03/10/2007 09:31

Well, last night we were going to cook enchilaedas but on opening the pack of chicken discovered it was off - bleurghhh (Tescos are refunding), so we had fish and chips from the chippy , BUT - and I'm proud of myself here - I did stop eating whilst there were some chips left on my plate, whereas usually I would have eaten all of mine and polished of DH's too.

Listened again this morning. I'm a little concerned because I don't fall asleep at all and feel a bit daft when he tells me to wake up at the end. I do feel physically very relaxed though. Will it work for me?

mybabysinthegarden · 03/10/2007 11:13

Bleeuuch Lil! I always thought the "smoke-free pet-free home" disclaimers on ebay were a bit over the top until I bought a phone on there that was absolutely howfing. I try to do the CD in the morning too and don't think it's necessary to fall asleep, just try to be relaxed.

Hippi, I think it's probably ok not to weight yourself at all if you don't want to-- go more by how your clothes feel, etc. I'm obsessed by the scale and finding it really hard not to jump on it every day. And congrats on your loss by the way!

I've sort of fallen behind with the exercises so here are the next two:

Day 6
When we are wrapped up in our own worries and concerns, it is the easiest thing in the world to overlook all the all the good things we already have in our lives.
Today we are going to reverse that pattern. Ask yourself to focus on what's already working well in your life. Ask and answer these questions each time you notice you are hungry. When you've fed your heart, it will be time to feed your body...

Who do I love?
Who loves me?
What am I most grateful for in my life?
What is it about that which makes me feel grateful?

Day 7
Review and renew:
Take some time to reflect on how far you've come and re-focus on where it is you are heading by answering the following:

  1. The best things that happened this week were:

  2. My biggest challenges this week were:

  3. I did these things for the first time:

  4. What I learned was:

  5. My top three priorities for the week ahead are:
    a.
    b.
    c.

hippipotami · 03/10/2007 22:01

Thanks for the exercises Mybaby. Will write them down and start doing them

LilRed - bleurgh about the chicken, and how is the smelly book?

OP posts:
LilBloodRedWantsGore · 04/10/2007 09:37

hippipotami · 04/10/2007 10:45

Jhal · 04/10/2007 22:17

Hi can I join you? Just had my six week check after having a baby and would love to lose the excess pounds without obsessing. Sounds as if you guys are doing this.

bananaknickers · 05/10/2007 22:25

Jhal of course you can. I don't know where everyone else has gone of to though.I hope they haven't all given up, i am counting on them and feel inspired by their weight loss. I have my first wiegh in on Monday but feel like I may have lost.

LilBloodRedWantsGore · 06/10/2007 12:53

Welcome Jhal! Good luck for Monday Bananaknickers.

mybabysinthegarden · 07/10/2007 15:15

Hi Jhal! I've been skulking for a few days as I had some bad episodes of boredom eating. Had a really good day yesterday though, went out to a nice lunch and at dinner was really aware that I didn't need too much to eat after the big lunch.
Here are some more exercises:

Day 8
Imagine yourself tuning into your body and noticing you're a little bit hungry. In the past, you might have ignored this sensation, but now you've learned to respect it. You ask your body what it wants and needs. To your amazement, it asks for a small bowl of pasta with a salad (You were sure it was going to be chocolate and icecream, weren't you?)

Resisting the urge to skip the pasta, you sit down for a wonderful, peaceful meal. Stopping to smell your food between each mouthful, you enjoy indulging in the sensation of the warm pasta melting in your mouth before sliding down your throat. Each bite of salad crunches in your mouth, and you can taste the water-rich juice from the lettuce and cucumber with every mouthful. Delicious!

Down towards the bottom of the bowl, you realise you are comfortably full. Imagine the sense of pride as you push away the rest of the bowl, knowing you are now in full control...

Day 9
Rule 1: Eat when you are hungry

Make this commitment:

I, __, promise that for at least the next 81 days, I will eat whenever I'm hungry no matter how I feel about it.

LilBloodRedWantsGore · 08/10/2007 09:10

Am struggling - can someone tell me it gets easier please. i find that I'm almost finished shoveling a meal down me beforeI remember that I need to take my time and enjoy. Feel like giving up, but want to look good for my DH when we go to Egypt for our tenth anniversary in December.

mybabysinthegarden · 09/10/2007 09:28

Hi everyone, had my second weigh-in this morning and have only lost 1 lb . Had some crap days last week but think I pulled it together in the last couple of days. However I'm telling myself that it still makes x-5 for the first 30 days, so even if I keep losing at the same rate I'll still be down a stone by Xmas

Lilred & hippi, hope you're having better days. I definitely had an easier time the first couple of weeks and now feel like I'm backsliding...sigh... anyway, no quick fixes, we're in this for the long haul, right?

Banana, how did you get on???

Here's another exercise:

Day 10
Rule 2: Eat what you really want, not what you think you should.

There are NO forbidden foods on this system-- you can eat anything you want any time you are hungry, providing you take the time to really, really enjoy eating it.

Fancy a bit of pasta?
Go for it.
Cake and icecream calling to you?
As long as you're actually hungry, enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
From this day forward, nothing is off-limits to you. Ever.
And if you still really want to say NO to something, say it to the purveyors of sugar-free low-carb cardboard-tasting crap.

LilBloodRedWantsGore · 09/10/2007 13:03

5lb in a month is great! Keep going!

mybabysinthegarden · 09/10/2007 13:04

Thanks LilRed! How's your book smelling?

Charlee · 09/10/2007 13:06

Ohhh i would love to join but am to skint to buy the c.d! doh!

Oh well will have to wait untill things perk up a bit in the Charlee household!

bananaknickers · 09/10/2007 13:06

I feel bad now. I only lost 2.5 lbs in 2 weeks and felt really dissapointed

mybabysinthegarden · 09/10/2007 13:28

Banana, 2.5 is great for 2 weeks! Don't know if you're a serial dieter like me, but I think part of the trouble is we're used to programmes like Slimfast, Atkins, even Weight Watchers, where the weight comes off really quickly in the early days. These (and others) have helped me get to where I am now, 3.5 stone overweight. With any weightloss, the slower you lose, the more likely you are to keep it off.

Charlee, I am a compulsive bargain-hunter, but feel I can't recommend ebay/amazon marketplace again following LilRed's fag-marinated book!

LilBloodRedWantsGore · 09/10/2007 13:32

Charlee - email me at lilrewg at googlemail dot com please.

Book pongs, but I sticking with it! Have decided to write last week off. I will weigh myself tomorrow morning an start again as I've struggled.

Can you answer some questions please? (I'm being dumb )

1 - When you start counting backwards, are you meant to keep going all the way to zero?

2 - If so, how do you stop your mind from wandering?

3 - Please please please reassure me this will work.

LilBloodRedWantsGore · 09/10/2007 13:33

Banana - 2.5lb is fantastic, but you shouldn't have weighed yourself yet. Try to wait two weeks! (said by someone who has weighed herself every day for the past week )

LilBloodRedWantsGore · 09/10/2007 13:35

Even bigger - you had waited two weeks!! Just think - that's 65lb (4.5 stone) if you managed that every two weeks for a year!!!!

I'm going to hide now.

Charlee · 09/10/2007 13:38

Have emailed you as requested LilBloodRedWantsGore,
