Following on from a certain posters 3 stone loss (well done!!) we are motivated and have dusted off our copies.

Sign up here, all are welcome. We can keep eachother company and help with motivation!

I have a huge amount of weight to shift, but my aim is 3 stone by the end of July (ready for next summer holiday)
I am hoping for 1 stone by Christmas, 1 stone by Easter and 1 stone by the Summer.

I am going to listen to the CD every night. I am also going to take a larger share of the dogwalking duties back from dh (I did this last time and the 45 minutes, 4 times a week really helped) I am also going to go swimming once a week.

I will only be weighing myself every two weeks (as per PMK's advice), and will report my loss here. (if I may)

Moomin, it actually changes your attitude towards food. I am terribly greedy, and will always choose the plate with the biggest portion size on it, but after listening to PMcK for a week or so, I will automatically choose a healthier / smaller option. For instance, whenever we as a family go to Ikea, we will have coffee and a cake in the restaurant. Last year (when doing PMK) I chose an orange. Now, I would never ever normally choose an orange. Ever. But for some reason I wanted an orange, and I enjoyed every mouthful!
And I was NOT eyeing up dh's or the dc's cake.
Strange but true...

OK I'm up for this .

I too have 3 stone to lose (I think - I am too overwieght now to weigh myself). I have th book & CD but lost motivation before listening to the CD. I will listen to it tonight and report my losses, if any, when you do, hippipotomi.

Righjt, having publicly declared this, I am off to eat an apple because I'm hungry .

MyEye · 22/09/2007 19:40

ok, 36 hrs in, and I'm definitely not snacking. At least, not by my normal standards . And it's not hurting.
Just sat by and watched dcs and dh have an early Giraffe supper of burgers and chips. I had mint tea and will have small stirfry later.
Truly this is unusual behaviour.

Tillyboo · 22/09/2007 22:34

Hi Hippipotami - remember me ? One of the original gang.

I sort of gave up but have kept off the 7lbs I lost with PMcK.

I have joined Curves and booked onto a 6 week Pilate course so hope to shift a bit more.

I've had a terrible back so exercise has gone out the window.

Good luck everyone ! I shall be watching this thread with interest

For all you Newbies starting, listen to the CD EVERY DAY if you can. If you fall asleep, it still works.

hippipotami · 23/09/2007 10:09

Hello Tilly, of course I remember you

I gave up over the summer holiday and put 7lbs back on. (and I only manged to lose 13lbs in the first place) BUT, I am still convinced it works, and I have now set aside a whole school year to do this, ready for the next summer hols. Hence my 3 stone target!

Please let me know how you get on!

Sounds like a plan dramaqueen. My first weigh-in will be Monday the 1st October. Will post any losses (or gains??) here.

Had a late night last night and did not listen to the CD. Then had two oatmeal and raisin cookies for breakfast. Grrr, must do better!!

bananaknickers · 23/09/2007 11:27

O.k count me in please. I need to loose 3 stone and would love to be supported and support you all. I have put on loads

Tottie32 · 23/09/2007 12:31

are we meant to post starting weights?

Moomin · 23/09/2007 13:14

Once you're listening to the CD every night, is that it for the rest of your life in case the weight piles back on the minute you stop listening to it? Am I going to be going to bed with Paul McKenna every night instead of dh?

Moomin · 23/09/2007 13:15

Don't want to post weight just yet. I'm not even going to weigh myself until I'm feeling like I did before the summer. I put loads on in France on holiday (bread for breakfast lunch and dinner )
I think I'll just post any losses in a week or so!

Tottie32 · 23/09/2007 15:15

ok but how will you know if you have lost do you mean lost from your pre hol weight?
i think after a while you can listen every other night

Moomin · 23/09/2007 17:44

When my jeans are back to the normal belt hole (they're not far off now tbh) I'll give it one more week after that then weigh myself.

MissTea4Me · 24/09/2007 11:20

OK, I'm going to be brave and post my weight when I started: X

I've been going 2 weeks and just had my first weigh-in: X-4 (I've got about 3 1/2 stones to go in total). So I'm feeling cautiously optimistic this morning (been on so many diets I know not to get too excited about those first few pounds).

I'm not on every day but I'll try to post the exercises. There's also a chart at the front of the book where you check off every day, so you could go ahead and check off the days until Christmas on a calendar, if you felt like it.

Day 1: Close your eyes and imagine that it's 90 days from today. If it helps, you can actually mark the date on a real or imaginary calendar. Now travel out into the future until you are looking at a future, slimmer, happier you. When you're ready, step into that future you until you're seeing what they see, hearing what they hear, and feeling the wonderful feelings in your brand new body.

He also suggests taking a picture of yourself and sticking into your diary 90 days from today.

There's also a checklist to do at the end of every day, though he points out that you don't have to do every single thing, every single day, but "as long as you are doing most things on most days, you are making tangible progress towards your goals." The checklist is:

  1. I ate when I was hungry
  2. I ate what I really wanted
  3. I ate consciously
  4. I stopped when full
  5. I drank water
  6. I moved my body
  7. I listened to the CD
  8. I did the mirror exercise (p. 96 in ICMYT) One positive thing I noticed today: What I'm looking forward to tomorrow:

Whew, a long post. Hope it helps and great to have some comrades in this!

Fimbles5 · 24/09/2007 12:54

Well done MissTea4Me. Keep up the good work!

MissTea4Me · 24/09/2007 21:12

Thanks! I thought I'd post Day 2's exercise tonight for any early birds on here:

Find a photo of someone or something that inspires you and put it up where you'll see it every day or carry it around with you. Look at it whenever you need inspiration.

hippipotami · 25/09/2007 16:35

Well done on your loss MissTea4Me. Thanks for posting the excercise too. I will try and buy a control journal. Can you get them in WH smiths?

I have been listening to the cd most nights for a week now, and today I went swimming. I am due to weigh myself next Monday.

I'm theincredibleshrinkingmummy but this is my regular username, I've now lost four stone and have nine pounds to go to my goal weight. I'm not doing enough exercise - yet, and I'm not tracking anything - doesn't make sense for me, would only make me more obsessive and I don't need that.

Good luck everyone.

MissTea4Me · 25/09/2007 22:44

I got the journal on ebay-- there are usually plenty of them knocking about (hope that's not a bad sign).

Day 3
Look in your fridge and throw away anything that does not totally inspire you to eat it (fat free products, diet soda, etc.) There shouldn't be anything in there that you wouldn't be totally delighted to eat-- and when you're next hungry that's exactly what you should do!

tortoise · 25/09/2007 23:10

Hi. I started listening to the CD a while ago. I find the visualiing things really hard so i'm not sure it worked in any way for me but i am willing to give it another go.
I also find it impossible to know when i am full. And very hard to leave any food on my plate!!
When do people find time to excercise? I have a few DVDs/Videos that i could do but don't seem to have time.I do walk miles everyday on school runs though.
Good luck everyone

hippipotami · 26/09/2007 08:12

I think walking miles on the school run is absolutely fine.
I don't like excercise as such. I will never ever ever set foot inside a gym for instance. But I walk briskly on the school run, I walk the dog daily, and I have just started swimming on a weekly basis with a friend. (did 30 lengths yesterday which equated to 40 minutes swimming without stopping, I was sooooo shattered at the end)

Will have a look for the journal.

Thanks.

I am struggling to find an inspiring photo. What or who are you all being inspired by?

hippipotami · 26/09/2007 16:31

I am struggeling with the photo thing as well. I don't know what they mean by 'inspiring'. [dunce emoticon]

OP posts:
mybabysinthegarden · 27/09/2007 09:22

Yeah the photo thing is kind of tough. I chose Paula Radcliffe in the end, because she had a baby (in January I think) and is back running the Great North Run this weekend. (Of course I'm going to throw it away if she doesn't win )

Tortoise, he makes the point in the journal that you're unlikely to do all the things every day, the important thing is just to try to. I think it's supposed to be a gradual process of changing your behaviour rather than "You must do all these things from day 1." Instead of trying to take it all on board at once, why don't you just pick one thing and try to do it at one meal, e.g. make a deal with yourself that at your next meal you'll leave a tiny bit on your plate. If you're still hungry then eat something. But remind yourself that that one tiny bit is unlikely to make a difference to whether you're full or not.

The clean plate and knowing when I'm full are the two things I'm finding most difficult, so I'll be interested to hear how you get on.

Anyway, here's day 3:

Day 3
Look in your fridge and throw away anything that does not totally inspire you to eat it (fat free products, diet soda, etc.) There shouldn't be anything in there that you wouldn't be totally delighted to eat-- and when you're next hungry that's exactly what you should do!

mybabysinthegarden · 27/09/2007 09:23

oops, I'm MissTea by the way!

hippipotami · 27/09/2007 09:41

Nice new name MissTea

Right, my fridge is already full of lovely stuff so no worries there. Still thinking about the inspiring photo. Will ponder that one a bit more.
