Anyone need to lose a stone or less and needs motivation?

Flippetydip · 18/05/2020 12:15

Not that I can provide the motivation but hey ho, I thought perhaps if there were more of us it might help!

I'm currently 10 stone 12 and 5 foot 7. My fighting weight is 10 stone and I would like to get back down to this.

Lockdown has seen me put on at least half a stone. A bad back has seen me stop running and lack of school runs means a distinct deduction in time on my feet.

Anyone else in the same boat?

At last the scales move! Didn't weigh myself for a few days as I got sick of the disappointment 😂

Today I've gone down 1.2kg to 55.8kg!

Will go back to weighing myself every other day now.

overweightcat · 19/07/2020 13:49

@GreyBudgie I'm 5'5 and currently up and down a around 64.4kg aiming for 60kg ish.

My exercise hasn't been great this past week as everything is a bit jam packed recently, DCs are up super early (too early for me to get up before them and workout) and DP sets off super early too (too early for me to get up and workout whilst he looks after DCs) so just been limited to walks with them ATM. When DP gets back anywhere from 5-6.30pm I'm helping him with paperwork once DCs are in bed so can't workout in the evenings.

Focusing on cleaner eating is only quite recent too so I'm not expecting instant results.
Definitely not my natural Weight yet,I can see where I could easily be loosing some more and toning up the latter of course needs to come from exercise.

Up until now though the weight loss has been rather fast - about 1kg a week since May time (I think) on my 1200cals - basically I've lost 21lbs in 2 months so definitely the excess I've been carrying for the past few years but now I'm getting closer to that ideal target it's understandably slowed but I want to be seeing clear results...

GreyBudgie · 19/07/2020 14:00

@overweightcat You have achieved remarkable results in those circumstances, and the clean eating strategy will keep the weight off.

I would put your height and goal weight into a BMR calculator and go forward with that calorie figure. If you find time for exercise in your busy week, it's a bonus, but eating your goal weight maintenance calories from now on will get you to your goal weight in the end.

Good luck, you will get there.

GreyBudgie · 20/07/2020 17:47

1400 calories, 15 mins bodyweight exercises for me yesterday.

carrottopper · 20/07/2020 19:08

Would anyone be able to give me a couple of meal ideas for breakfast, lunch and eve meal for around 1200 calories please?

Indecisivelurcher · 20/07/2020 21:30

1200 Cals here, 1. peanut butter on toast, carrot and coriander soup, pork and veg fajitas, with snacks grapes and fruit & oat cookie and a g&t!

  1. Porridge with milk alt I had rice milk, tomato and lentil soup with bread and butter, Gammon and poached eggs, new potatoes and lots veg, bombay mix snack.
  2. Lots of fruits (5yo made fruit salad, got a bit carried away!), Greek Yoghurt, homemade bite size cheese Scone, egg Mayo sarnie with half a bag crisps, sticky Salmon with Chinese greens and boiled rice.
overweightcat · 21/07/2020 11:52

Weight is still staying between 64.4-65kg. I'm looking a bit bloated though but hoping that's just imminent AF.

I'm not up to exercising I'm feeling a bit achey and very groggy when I wake up in the morning and just can't get myself up - has anyone else experienced this? Am I lacking something?

CalmConfident · 21/07/2020 12:21

Emotional eating - two choc hob nobs just vanished !

Indecisivelurcher · 21/07/2020 20:49

I've had a bad calorie day! Takeaway flat white, Italian gelato, homemade crumble and custard which it turns out is mega calorific!! I have just got myself a glass of wine too. I haven't hit my target for 3 days... Need to have a word with myself tomorrow!

On a positive note though I did a 5.6 mile run across fields on Sunday morning, which felt fabulous and almost cancelled out dh's birthday cake... Did I also mention the chinese take away... Back on the wagon for me. After this wine...

Seriously though its made me realise I can't maintain 1200 Cals for life, and equally I don't think I'll need to, but where do I go once I'm at my target weight? I don't want to record calories forever. I know a fair bit about food and health. But it's easy to think you're doing OK while actually not be.

Indecisivelurcher · 21/07/2020 21:14

I'm almost starting to see the appeal of 2 fasting days, as something you can keep up. Rather than watching it all the time.

PowerslidePanda · 21/07/2020 21:46

I'm a couple of days behind, but congrats on the losses @GreyBudgie, @CalmConfident and @Chesneyhawkes1!

I over-indulged at the weekend Blush Back on track now, but I should be due my next 1lb drop round about now and I think it's actually still a few days away.

I've started doing some weights to tone up my arms. Not got much stamina for it yet, but my goodness I'm sore the following morning! In awe of your regular 15 mins of body weight, @GreyBudgie!

@Indecisivelurcher - Once I'm at my target weight, I'm going to keep calorie counting for a couple of weeks to get a feel for what I can eat within my new daily allowance. After that, I'll just weigh myself weekly or fortnightly, so if it starts creeping up, I'll notice early. I'm hoping to find (or start) a thread like this one, but for maintaining - I think it'll help keep me accountable.

Indecisivelurcher · 21/07/2020 21:57

Good plan. I might steal it 😉

GreyBudgie · 21/07/2020 22:00

@overweightcat Are you having disturbed nights due to children? It sounds like your you are either overtired, or dehydrated in the mornings.

@Indecisivelurcher I've had an really bad overeating day today, partly due to problems with Parent yesterday and being fed up of counting calories. I've called it a "rest day" and will do 1200 calories tomorrow. I think when you hit goal weight, try adding 200 calories to your daily amount for a couple of weeks and see what your weight does. Long term it's about healthy eating, and monitoring weight once a week/month.

I think

GreyBudgie · 21/07/2020 22:13

@PowerslidePanda I wish you every success with your weights. I'm by no means "ripped" but every time I am called "luvvie" or " dearie" by shop assistants who see me as a little old lady that can't read small print I do have the satisfaction of knowing I can bench press or do push ups better than them Grin

Chesneyhawkes1 · 21/07/2020 23:09

I've ramped my walking up. 13 miles yesterday. 8 today plus a 3 mile run.

Haven't done my weights for a few days though. Think I was too worn out. So I must get back on that.

Still sticking to my calories. Actually not hitting 1200 a day now. Just got used to eating less. But I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

In my mind the less I eat the better but I know too few and your metabolism slows down.

GreyBudgie · 22/07/2020 20:50

@Chesneyhawkes1 Congratulations on the weight loss and great effort on the walks. I agree it gets easier to eat less.

35 mins strength training today, 800 calories as I went so far over yesterday.

overweightcat · 22/07/2020 23:09

Incoming AF is making me crave lots of bad stuff. And I just know when it arrives day 1 is always when my self control disappears and I basically scoff everything I fancy Blush

DP wasn't back until quite late tonight so after DCs went to bed I did a 20min HITT. Feeling it when walking up the stairs already Shock

Indecisivelurcher · 23/07/2020 18:42

So one of the things that made me start posting on here was feeling tired a lot. I started minding my food more, a little bit more exercise on top of my physio and other bits, had a serious chat with my 5.5yo about not waking me up in the night unless something is wrong (she rarely sleeps through) ,and I also went for blood tests. They came back today low iron and platelets. With that in mind I've decided to cut myself a little slack and swapped mfp from losing 1lb a week to 0.5lb. Now get 1340 Cals which I'm hoping I can do consistently and chuck a couple of 1200 days in every week.

PowerslidePanda · 23/07/2020 21:33

@GreyBudgie - Haha, that's brilliant! I'm definitely not going for ripped either - just looking to lose the bingo wings! Glad you're back on track now - hope the past couple of days have been better with Parent.

Wow, @Indecisivelurcher - you did the right thing getting checked then! I'm sure I've read that iron levels impact your metabolism, so you might find the weight comes off more easily once you've got it sorted. Hope you get your energy back soon (you too, @overweightcat!)

Scales are being stubborn again... I generally lose 1lb every 5 days, but am now on day 8 without a drop. I had one bad day in that period but I've more than compensated for it now, so hoping tomorrow will be the day. Meanwhile, my hula hoop has arrived! I regained the knack for it fairly quickly, but was surprised that it got my heart rate right up and left me breathless. I burned more than 100 calories in 15 minutes. I suppose it is a fitness one, so a fair bit heavier than the toy version. Time will tell whether it makes a difference to my tummy though!

Indecisivelurcher · 23/07/2020 21:42

Good work @powerslidepanda I can't keep a hoop up!!!

clevername · 23/07/2020 23:54

Hi everyone. I haven't posted on this thread for about a week, largely because I've had the worst period and it's knocked me for six... Does anyone else occasionally get one which makes you feel like you're literally riddled with hormones?! It only happens once in a while for me but it's really unpleasant when it does. I've been seriously moody, impatient, tearful and totally exhausted. And spotty. And really, really hungry...

Needless to say, my willpower has been diminished to virtually nothing. I've been avoiding the scales but I'm going to jump on them tomorrow to see what the damage is. I'll report back in the morning!

Hope you're all feeling OK and trudging along towards your goals?

GreyBudgie · 24/07/2020 06:45

@clevername @overweightcat The hormone storm will pass, you'll be calm next week.

@Indecisivelurcher Good call getting checked out. Choosing a slightly higher calorie goal will make it far easier to meet your nutrient goals.

Hula hooping sounds fun Grin

1400 calories yesterday and 15 minutes bodyweight. Hope everyone is doing well.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 26/07/2020 10:34

I'm down to 54.8kg today. The walking is working 😂 plus as I can't run more than 4 miles I've cut right down on the carbs.

Sadly the bikini wearing that was my motivation has been cancelled after last nights change to the Spain travel rules.

However I'll keep at it. Plan is to get to my goal weight and then introduce more carbs slowly as I up my running.

Hope everyone else is well 😄

GreyBudgie · 26/07/2020 11:09

@Chesneyhawkes1 Congratulations! So pleased you are getting results from your efforts. Grin

I'm plodding along at 1400 calories, I 'll cut the weight training sessions to 2 per week, as if I try for 3, the last session is rubbish. I'll continue with the bodyweight sessions as I enjoy them.

GreyBudgie · 27/07/2020 13:27

Quick update. I'm 49 kg now which is my "happy" weight. PT friend is giving me a revised workout plan this week based on the attached picture (excuse the slippers and mess) and I'm working on finding my maintenance calories.

Good luck to everyone and thanks for the support. I'll join you on a maintenance thread when @PowerslidePanda starts one.
