Anyone need to lose a stone or less and needs motivation?

Flippetydip · 18/05/2020 12:15

Not that I can provide the motivation but hey ho, I thought perhaps if there were more of us it might help!

I'm currently 10 stone 12 and 5 foot 7. My fighting weight is 10 stone and I would like to get back down to this.

Lockdown has seen me put on at least half a stone. A bad back has seen me stop running and lack of school runs means a distinct deduction in time on my feet.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Thanks so much everyone - I had a horrific day with my 11 year old DS who is desperate to go back to school and kicking off left right and centre at the moment - no idea if this is normal or not but that is probably a whole other thread - I was desperate for a drink come the evening but the thought of having to come on here and report that I had failed on day 2 made me resist!

Water - I must start drinking water!

@Karcheer - we have cut down a lot of carbs for the sake of our aforementioned 11 year old, they don't seem to affect DD at all but they seem to make DS' behaviour worse. However, what carbs we do have are wholemeal - particularly pasta - which doesn't taste too radically different but you don't feel the need to eat quite so much.

Here's to a good day for all today!

Can I join please. I’m 46, 5ft 5 and weigh just under 11st which is my all time heaviest! I want to be under 10st so goal is to loose a stone.

Lockdown hasn’t helped as I usually go to the gym, plus I have eaten way more treats and drank wine more days of the week than I normally would.

I started couch to 5k and have done week 1 so I need to keep up with that. I also need to start exercising more as I really need to tone up!

Plan for today is
Week 2 Run 1 of c25k
No wine (there is an open bottle in the fridge so may be tricky to resist that temptation!)
Eat max of 1400 calories
Hit all targets on my watch (move, exercise, stand)

Have a good day everyone!

PeasandCucumbers · 20/05/2020 07:10

Also for those of you who want to lose a stone how long are you giving yourself to do that?

MurrayTheMonk · 20/05/2020 07:13

Morning. I'm 5.6 and 10 and a half stone. I've lost a bit during lock down as had gone up to just over 11. Seem to have plateaued a bit now. My ideal weight is 9 and half stone and that's what I've been most of my adult life. Turned 40 last year and it's sudden rly very tough to lose weight.

Think 5:2 will be what I try next.

Annoyed with self as yesterday could have been a 500 Calorie day with ease had I not messed it up by politely accepting and then eating 3 of my neighbours rock cakes. I do great all day and then sabotage myself at the last minute quite regularly and that what I need to cut out!

Plan for today which will be fast day is 2 eggs for breakfast/lunch time ish, grilled chicken salad for tea, and a ton of water. Then confine myself to room from about 7 onwards so I can't mess it up and eat after that 🙄.Grin

VeraorHolly · 20/05/2020 07:20

Me! I need to lose 12lbs to be my best weight.

I am currently the weight my body prefers. I default to this for the past 20 years. I am exercising a lot (walking, running, Hiit class with dumbells, average 15000 steps a day). The trouble is the biscuits and ice cream I keep around for teenage boys. Teenage boys are bad dieting company. I also developed a daily wine habit in lockdown that I need to shake again. I've only been drinking about two bottles a week but its a hard habit to break once it is started.

Helpusout · 20/05/2020 07:24

Hi were similar weights and height! I'm 5 ft 8 and 67kg I'm back to pre pregnancy weight but really want to get to 62/63kg I just feel best at that weight.

Does anyone find the aren't buying or wearing summer clothes right now as hoping they'll loose some weight.

I have 2 under 2 and find it hard not to eat snacks as don't have much time to make lunch ect

Flippetydip · 20/05/2020 07:30

Welcome to everyone :)

Good morning-can I join? I have about 1/2 – 3/4 stone to lose.

I am WFH and my desk is in the kitchen opposite the food cupboards. I just eat all day Blush I was relying on going back into the office next month so I could restrict myself by only taking in the food I was going to eat that day, but have had my hopes dashed this week as my office is now not going to be open until at least September. I will be a complete hog by then.

@Flippertydip Are you doing one of your fast days tomorrow? If so, I’ll join you. I could do with some moral support. Like you due to injuries I can’t run outside so struggling to exercise. This might be a bonus for fasting as I never have the energy to train when I fast.

Good luck everyone

prettygreenteacup · 20/05/2020 08:29

Can I join? I am 30, have two kids and hoping to lose only maybe 4-5lbs now to get me to the weight I would like. I'm currently stuck at 10 stone and can't seem to shift any more 😭 I do 16:8 and started running 3x a week but currently struggling with painful knees!
Today I'm having water and black coffee until 1pm, then planning a ham and cucumber wholemeal gluten free roll for lunch, then we are having seafood risotto for dinner tonight. Will also likely have a fruit cider in the garden this afternoon whilst I'm on my childcare shift in between working 😂

Flippetydip · 20/05/2020 09:54

@Ilovetolurk - yes indeed I am planning on a fast day tomorrow. It will good to have someone to be accountable to as I'm rubbish!

Freetodowhatiwant · 20/05/2020 09:57

Right I’m going to try to go back on 16:8 today and also to stick to low carb. I’m on my own with the kids a lot so but not be able to go out for a run but will try to work out at home and also to drink lots of water. Good luck everyone!

Scarby9 · 20/05/2020 10:16

I am 5ft 6 and weighed between 7 stone and 7 .5 during my teenage years, between 7.5 and 8 through my 20s, 8 to 8.5 in my 30s and 40s, despite eating whatever and whenever I wanted, in large quantities. Menopause early 50s, a shift to a more desk bound job and a long car commute and the weight started to creep on. I weighed 10 stone 3 on the Thursday before lockdown when I was sent to work from home. Since this Saturday, I have weighed 9 stone 4. Just haven't bought any 'treats', have exercised (walked or cycled, nothing fast or hard) for my 2 hour commute time each day, and am eating two good, home cooked meals a day with only very occasional fruit or nut snacks between. Chicken or fish with lots of vegetables, potatoes or rice, average 3 meat free days a week. Yoghurt or fruit for pudding on one of the meals or 2 ingredient oat and banana cookies. I am amazed and pleased. I am also tanned, rather than my usual pasty car and office colour. Noone will recognise me when I rejoin sociey (well, they will, because I spend a lot of the day in Zoom meetings).

AIMD · 20/05/2020 20:05

Getting to the dangerous time of the evening when I eat eat and eat.
Any tips on managing cravings for junk food?!

dudsville · 20/05/2020 20:19

I'm just lurking but i I've come on to say that's a brilliant idea scarby9 to use your commute time to exercise. I'm going to do that!

AIMD · 20/05/2020 20:29

@Scarby9 how do you make your banana and oat cookies? Like the sound of them. Sounds like lockdown life suits you !

CalmConfident · 20/05/2020 20:37

@AIMD I can recommend a long evening walk with DS, DH or a podcast is brilliant for being distracted from the biscuit tin

ElphabaFlies · 20/05/2020 20:39

Me! A stone would be ideal. I know I can do it with exercise and less snacking, it's just motivation. Let's see if accountability helps!

Casino218 · 20/05/2020 21:07

Can I join. Am I allowed? Unfortunately I weigh 11 stone 4 and this time last year I was 10 stone 4. I want to be under 10 stone. I'm 5 foot 4. I ploughed on the weight when I got Covid and I need to shift it. I've started a 1340 day intake of calories. Hopefully I should start to see things shifting. I would like one of my days to be 800 cal intake but building up to that. I'm now able to walk further so burning more calories too.

AIMD · 20/05/2020 21:29

@Casino218 I don’t think I’d ever manage a day at 800 calories.

I’m only just managing to stick to 1300 ish

PeasandCucumbers · 20/05/2020 21:34

Apple Watch says I have burned 2,240 calories so far today and I have eaten just under 1000 so now sitting down with a glass of wine (yes I know Insaid this morning I wasn’t going to!) Feeling chuffed with myself, I have walked loads, did 30 mins yoga when I got up, and did week 2 run 1 of Couch to 5k.

I have set myself a goal of 80 days. By then I want to be under 10st. Perhaps I should say I will be rather than want to be, positive mantras and all that!

Hope you managed to avoid the evening snacking AIMD. I second the long evening walk if you are able to.

Glad you have made a full recovery Casino. My sister is a nurse and had it too, totally wiped her out and she is a marathon running machine!!

Great loss Carby9, hopefully we can all be as motivated and successful!

Flippetydip · 21/05/2020 07:25

Morning all and welcome to everyone who joined us overnight.

@PeasandCucumbers - you asked how long we were giving for this. I reckon six weeks or thereabouts should do it? Or am I being overly ambitious?

I caved and had bread yesterday. Rubbish but it's because we make our own and it's so bloody lovely! Anyway, fast day today. I believe @Ilovetolurk and I are on a FD - anyone else want to join? I find it much more freeing to count calories on 2 days a week than to fret too much about it the rest of the time. There is not a chance I could cope with 1200 calories every day. I'm much better with between 500 and 800 twice a week and then around the 2k mark the rest of the time. I will then weigh myself tomorrow morning and hope for some improvement.

@AMID - I did the start of 30 days with Adrienne yesterday evening, which I think @Karcheer suggested. That actually took my mind off eating. It flared up my back again though, which is not what I was expecting. I'm hoping if I keep at it, it might stretch it out rather than completely cripple me!

DorsetCamping · 21/05/2020 07:35

Would love to join!

Am peri-menopausal and since lockdown seem to have ballooned. Literally none of my clothes fit.

Am 5'5" and from being a fairly consistent 9 stone, i'm now pushing at least 10 1/2 (guessing as can't bring myself to get on scales).

Just started an evening job at local supermarket so hoping that will kick start my reduction in mindless eating and drinking.

Scarby9 · 21/05/2020 07:39

Banana oats cookies. I just googled banana recipes (incredibly generous delivery from local greengrocer, even when shared with neighbours). 2 ripe bananas mashed, with 165g oats. Took 2 mins. Shape into cookies on a lined baking tray - it said baking parchment but I only had foil and they came off fine. Bake 20 mins Gas mark 4. They don't change shape while cooking, and end up kind of crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. It said they keep 2-3 days in a tin, but I just froze them and pull out one as required! Last time, I added a spoon of cocoa powder to half the mix - those taste really chocolatey- or maybe I've forgotten what chocolate tastes like....

Ilovetolurk · 21/05/2020 08:07

I am fasting today @Flippetydip so checking in. Apart from cups of tea Grin
100ish calorie tuna salad planned for lunchtime. Not sure about tea yet. Not looking forward to late afternoon.

Flippetydip · 21/05/2020 08:23

Oooh @Scarby9 I might have to give those a go. Particularly as DS is off sugar. Just finding some ripe bananas might be an issue.

@DorsetCamping

  • yes to being peri-menopausal - I'm 46, I'm sure it doesn't help.

@Ilovetolurk - Be strong! I'm alright as long as I don't start eating.....Once I start, it's liking waking the beast!
