Anyone need to lose a stone or less and needs motivation?

Flippetydip · 18/05/2020 12:15

Not that I can provide the motivation but hey ho, I thought perhaps if there were more of us it might help!

I'm currently 10 stone 12 and 5 foot 7. My fighting weight is 10 stone and I would like to get back down to this.

Lockdown has seen me put on at least half a stone. A bad back has seen me stop running and lack of school runs means a distinct deduction in time on my feet.

Anyone else in the same boat?

@overweightcat in February I was training for a marathon and hitting 50 miles a week. Then I sprained my ankle and then I got diagnosed with cervical cancer and it all went to shit 😂

Just re started running now chemo and radio therapy finished and my god I've lost all my fitness. And gained 12lbs along the way. That coupled with being put straight into menopause is making shifting them feel impossible.

Your dinner sounds tasty and healthy!!

Indecisivelurcher · 15/07/2020 21:25

@ches fair play for picking up your running shoes! It's hard getting back to it but hopefully you'll find your stride again.

GreenBudgie · 16/07/2020 07:27

@Chesneyhawkes1Great effort on the running do you go off road or stick to the pavements? I hope you are recovering well from your treatments.

@overweightcat I'm stealing your salmon dinner idea for dinner tonight , we'll have new potatoes with it as I don't think 95 year old parent will enjoy quinoa Grin

I went over calories by 3 pieces of toast and 4 custard creams tonight. I'm not berating myself as I had a good weights session last night, and was ravenous afterwards. I skipped breakfast today as I had the extra calories late last night. If I have salad for lunch and salmon dinner I'll be OK.

Husband is bringing the decent scales from home this weekend, the knackered manual scales here really aren't fit for purpose.

Hope you are all doing well.

PowerslidePanda · 16/07/2020 12:41

I admire your fitness, ladies - 30 push ups, 8.6 mile walks - wow!

@GreenBudgie - Yes, maybe I should start taking photos. I thought I'd left it too late into my weight loss journey to bother, but I also thought that about tracking my measurements, which I'm now finding useful. Great that you'll have access to decent scales again soon - those manual ones sound little better than plucking a number out at random!

Goodness, @Chesneyhawkes1 - you've been through a lot lately! Glad you're feeling up to running again. Hope the scales reflect all your efforts soon!

I'm down to 129lb now - pleased to be out of the 130s! 8lb to go.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 16/07/2020 16:30

@GreenBudgie I do both. I prefer road. Anytime I've fallen over running it's been on the trails tripping over a tree root 😬 but I've been mostly running on my treadmill in the garage since I re started. I can watch tv and the time flies by.

@Indecisivelurcher thank you.

@PowerslidePanda well done for your weight loss! 8lb is hardly anything left to go.

I've got a routine going now. Cos I can't run as much as I want to, I run one day and then go for a long walk the next. Today was a run day and did 4 miles. Didn't weigh myself today and I can't face the annoyance at the scales not shifting 😂 I just keep telling myself to believe in the process! Eventually it will come off.

Indecisivelurcher · 16/07/2020 17:40

I'm trying to get back to exercise living with prolapsed discs for 2yrs. It's never been catastrophic but gives me sciatica that stops me sleeping and a pretty painful knee! I've done endless physio, pilates and swimming was working for me until lock down, I've now introduced short bike rides 10-15 miles and a couple of tentative 2 mile runs. To be honest they're not brilliant, I suspect bike caused sciatica relapse and I ended up back at the physio. But she didn't say I should stop just build up very gradually.

Anyhoo managed 1200 Cals today with enough left over for a Gin later, as I'm not working tomorrow!

Hope everyone else is #winning Wink

GreenBudgie · 16/07/2020 17:46

@Indecisivelurcher Well done for finding ways of exercising round your injuries ( as approved by physio of course). Enjoy your long weekend.

@Chesneyhawkes1 I was a very keen jogger in my 30's. I much preferred roads, going down hills as too scary on uneven countryside. My knees/shin splints brought it to and end.

GreenBudgie · 16/07/2020 17:51

@PowerslidePanda Well done for breaking out the 130's. Not far to go now!

Indecisivelurcher · 17/07/2020 18:10

Loving that there is an option to add 0.5tbsp of homemade chocolate cake batter mix on my fitness pal (22cal)! Cake

GreenBudgie · 17/07/2020 20:33

I wonder how many calories in a sniff of a chocolate wrapper?

1400 calories, 15 mins bodyweight exercises for me. Hope you are all doing well

PowerslidePanda · 17/07/2020 21:02

Thanks! I'm 80% of the way between my starting weight and target weight now, so yes - the end is in sight Smile

Not the best of days today. Calories in is less than calories out, but I've not managed much of a deficit. Doesn't help that Ocado substituted the low fat oven chips for Home Fries... I love them, but it works out approx twice as many calories per serving!

Haha - good to know, @Indecisivelurcher!

clevername · 17/07/2020 22:46

Another pound down today, whoop! So now I'm 11 pounds down, 5 to go to target. I definitely feel so much better about myself. Clothes fit and look better and I just feel more confident and like 'me'. So pleased I managed to make myself do this whole thing.

Mind you, I made another vegan chocolate cake today (which involved my eating more buttercream than I care to admit) and had a chip shop supper on the beach. And I've got a friend coming over tomorrow so I'm making a veggie lasagne and I guess we'll drink lots of wine... So perhaps I shouldn't count my weightloss chickens just yet! Grin

Well done to everyone who's seeing progress of any sort - we'll get there Smile

overweightcat · 18/07/2020 09:37

So I'm officially 21lbs down and 9lbs to go but the weight loss has definitely slowed down.

10st 1lb and aiming for around 9st 6lbs.

I'm not sticking to 1200cals anymore as I'm worried about wrecking my metabolism after reading up about calorie restrictive diets but instead I'm focusing on eating good wholesome foods with plant of protein and veg and just eating when I'm hungry rather than strict meal times.

I'm desperate to shift the last 9lbs though, does anyone have any suggestions? Should I up my workouts?

Indecisivelurcher · 18/07/2020 10:26

Morning all, so end of first week for me and scales are showing 4lb off. I don't fully believe them, but am slightly wondering if I was having a heavy day at the start of this. I think I'm going to carry on broadly at I am, with 1200 calories achieved with adding exercise in and a bit of watching what eat. But not stress about dh's birthday take away tonight!

Indecisivelurcher · 18/07/2020 10:32

@overweightcat I don't know how scientific this is but how about changing your exercise? Pools are opening end of month...

Lurkingforawhile · 18/07/2020 11:27

@overweightcat what about trying something like 5:2? Might confuse your metabolism enough!

Lurkingforawhile · 18/07/2020 11:29

The other thing thought I has was maybe you're at your natural weight @overweightcat? If you're eating well, exercising, and feel healthy maybe that's it?

BorsetshireBlueBalls · 18/07/2020 17:52

21ilbs is a big weight loss, well done, cat. As for the last stretch...do you drink alcohol? if you do, could you knock it on the head for the duration? I gather your body has to metabolise booze before it can get started on food, so even if you've included the units in your calorie count, it can slow down weight loss.

My Thursday morning weigh-in showed 59.5kg, so another slow week after the previous week's big (for me) loss. But still in the right direction. However, I have felt pretty rubbish this week: migraine, followed by a couple of days of nausea and spaced-out feeling, rubbish sleep. Ravenously hungry, and food was the only thing that settled the nausea.
But I slept better last night and did a workout today, so - onwards!

Indecisivelurcher · 18/07/2020 20:35

Just noting for posterity, tonight I did not finish my takeaway, I stopped when I was full!!!! (takeaways are a very rare treat in this house and now I get to have it for lunch too?!)

PowerslidePanda · 18/07/2020 21:30

Congratulations on the losses, @clevername, @Indecisivelurcher, @overweightcat and @BorsetshireBlueBalls (especially after not feeling your best this week)!

Cat - afraid I don't have any further suggestions to add, but just some solidarity in terms of things slowing down. My target daily calorie burn is 2000 and I've noticed that I used to achieve that with ease, then I managed it only on days when I did exercise, and now it's a struggle even on those days.

My weight loss hasn't made a lot of difference to my wobbly post pregnancy tummy (twins and my second c-section, so it's pretty dire!), but I've heard that some people see good results from hula hooping! I used to enjoy it as a child and it sounds way more fun than doing crunches, so I've just ordered a fitness hoop Smile

GreyBudgie · 19/07/2020 07:51

Formerly GreenBudgie checking in as I changed email accounts. I weighed in on the digital scales at 49.3 kg so just under 8 stone. I was 8 stone 8 on the ancient manual scales when I joined the thread. Looking back at the photo I took at that start, I reckon I actually lost about 4 pounds. I've got another 3 weeks to continue on my current training of weights session every 3 days, bodyweight session on other days before PT friend evaluated progress. Is it OK if I keep posting to keep me in track?

Congratulations to everyone who has lost weight!

@overweightcat 21 pounds is a fantastic achievement which you should be proud of. The last 9 pounds will take a little longer to lose. What is your current exercise routine, your height/weight?
