Any suggestions as to best format to achieve this?

I'm limited as to amount of exercise I can do, so it looks like dietary approach to begin with, then hope to add in some exercise when I can.

Just wondering if anyone has got advice and/or done similar themselves and can share.

All input gratefully received.Flowers

@outherealone
Im guessing the stuff you put into your coffee and/or sugary caffeine drinks?

Black coffee is ok, I think?

I'm guessing though!

Perfect challenge for you to start with from Cancer Research:

Walk All Over Cancer

10,000 steps every day in March. Most phones have a step tracker or you can get a cheap wrist tracker for £20 or so.

Fat loss is mostly about diet - what you put in your mouth. But if you think of your weight loss journey in terms of becoming healthier, then being active as well as eating healthily will help.

Bluntness100 · 21/02/2020 20:59

Plus also exercise helps you tone up, so when you lose the weight you look defined, as opposed to just smaller and still a bit flabby.

Ability builds surprisingly quickly too.

ppeatfruit · 22/02/2020 09:44

Ineed ONE decaff black coffee a day is ok. But it's strange how much weight I lost giving up even one freshly ground normal coffee (I think that the caffiene holds onto water when you have it every day) dh has far too much coffee and he finds it very difficult to lose weight until he cuts down.

My metabolism reacts as it should when I have one every 2 or 3 weeks Grin I did it when going on the Combining way of eating too which may have helped I suppose.

pooriver · 22/02/2020 09:48

Google the snake diet. I've lost a stone in a month, another to go & I'll be under 25 BMI

ppeatfruit · 22/02/2020 14:10

poo does that mean you end up looking like a snake or eating them? Grin Grin

Fact Check: Coffee and Weight Loss

  • caffeine containing drinks have a diuretic effect
  • this means coffee makes you wee more, reducing the amount of water in your body composition
  • Coffee therefore has the effect of slightly lowering water weight in body composition.
  • Caffine is a stimulant so will increase metabolism (the rate at which calories are burnt)

Source 1 Source 2

  • Coffee contains very few calories if drank black and without sugar. 200ml black coffee is 1 calorie.

Source 3

Summery: Coffee will not cause weight gain as part of a calorie controlled diet. It will cause weight loss, but only to a very small degree, due to increases metabolism and water loss.

Black coffee not a recommended diet aid. But will not cause any weight gain.

@ppeatfruit your DH not losing weight has nothing to do with his coffee intake.

FATEdestiny · 22/02/2020 15:34

Black coffee is ok, I think?

Absolutely @Ineedaplan!

In fact when I have up all sugar and processed carbs, high quality coffee became my treat.

I've been a non drinker for decades, I very rarely drink any alcohol. I gave up smoking 6 years ago and as mentioned above, gave up "treat food" (high fat, night sugar unhealthy crap) 2 years ago. I needed something as a "ahhh that's so nice, such a treat" type feeling. Coffee was it!

I pay a lot of money for quality coffee nowadays. And drink a fair amount (of both caffeinated and decaffinated) every day.

Coffee is a joy!

ppeatfruit · 22/02/2020 15:42

Thank you Fate I know how it affected me. I go by own experience. Oh and I don't count calories, No one mentions DAILY coffee consumption in your scientific survey . I said I know it works as a diuretic but IME not if you drink it every day,

He does add oat milk and honey which of course won't help. He can't give it up for long but it does help when he cuts it down because of course he's not having the extras

outherealone · 22/02/2020 18:27

Thank you @FATEdestiny

Ineedaplan · 23/02/2020 00:58

Ineedaplan · 23/02/2020 01:02

I mean - it's going to be crap BUT no excuses.

OP posts:
Ineedaplan · 23/02/2020 01:03

Has the gin hit me already???

OP posts:
FATEdestiny · 23/02/2020 08:50

You're still making excuses not to start...

Bluntness100 · 23/02/2020 08:58

I think you need to reasses if you actually wish to loose weight op. Right now it seems you wish the food more. There is no reason for next week to be Crap. Other than you choose it.

ppeatfruit · 23/02/2020 10:02

ineed Food Combining is not a crap low cal. low fat, way of eating, it's so much better for your health, you can have a large mushroom omelette or fried eggs and mushrooms (ccoked in olive oil) for example ,with lots of green beans and a salad. (try not to think of it as a diet) you need a different mindset (that's where Paul Mackenna is important to help). Eating slowly is the secret. Oh and try to eat more often ONLY when you're hungry ,

YOU HAVE TO EAT WHEN YOU'RE HUNGRY and STOP WHEN YOU'RE FULL,. have a large green tea if you crave sweet things after a meal Grin

You can substitute large fizzy water and lemon juice for your gin!!!

ppeatfruit · 23/02/2020 10:03

Good luck!!!!

ppeatfruit · 23/02/2020 10:10

Strangely (sorry to go on Grin ) when you eat nourishing meals more often (whenever you feel hungry) you do lose weight. When you skip meals your blood pressure drops which makes one bad tempered and much more likely that you eat ANYTHING and quickly when you get home.

Blackbirdblue30 · 23/02/2020 10:12

I’m doing alternate day fasting. I’m not big but have slowly gained a stone over where I normally am (blaming smoking cessation and desk job last year). Also stopped alcohol/liquid calories. I’m only a week in and have already lost 4 pounds.

Ineedaplan · 23/02/2020 10:39

Ta everybody for pulling me up.

I meant that next week was going to be a crap week in terms of stress and onerous things I'm not looking forward to, NOT that I was already giving into it being crap foodwise. I know in advance it's going to be a taxing time, so that's why I'm saying...No excuses. I need to be prepared.

Yesterday was a day that unexpectedly didn't go to plan at all and I didn't eat all day. I should have just taken myself to bed. Hmm

On a positive note, i did enjoy my late night sandwich, the gin was a relaxant and I had a good night's sleep!

Taking the positive from a less than ideal situation and moving on. 😁
