Cambridge Diet / 1:1 diet, anyone? 2020 targets?

MrsHufflepuf · 06/01/2020 17:41

Hi all, does anybody want to buddy up through weight loss journey? I'm feeling really positive. I have 6 stone to loose in order to qualify for any fertility treatment.

I'm on sole source, step one. Sticking to shakes this week. Might have some "meals" next week. Might treat myself to a bar next month.

I feel like the bars could be a slippery slope
for me... I prefer cutting all solids out.

Yes I know, not the healthiest diet long term.. I have no intention of gaining it all back. It's not for everybody, please be nice :) I need a kick start.

@Whatsthesmell I'm trying to conceive and that's the reason I'm doing this diet, so it worked for you? You got your kids because of it?

I have a dilemma. My best friend has a wedding dress shopping day planned. Including us and her other bridesmaids going out for a meal. This is the hardest thing for me. I'm not sure if I can sit there and just drink water with a bar or something.
So ordering chicken salad cheating ? 😩

@MrsHufflepuf talk to your consultant about it they should advise you, I think that a chicken salad without dressing should be OK though. Amazing weight loss BTW, well done!!

Thanks @Soph168 I'm chuffed with the loss. I did the first week liquid only. I had a bar today and now I'm painfully hungry.
I did this diet 10 years ago lost 6 stone in 6 months. But she had be doing it hard core the whole time. So when it came to the steps of introducing food. I couldn't deal and just went to eat food normally. Obviously gained it all back. Wouldn't recommend.

My current consultant has a totally different approach. She said if you feel you can get straight back on it the next day, than have a meal that involves making smart choices, is doable. She said " if anything itll stop you feeling miserable. And it's teaching you about making real world choices. Just know it will effect your loss and can you handle that."
So I have two extreme different opinions...
I'm pretty sure I can get back on it next day cos of my reasons for doing it, part of me thinks I'll actually be able to stay on it longer if I know I can have real food very very occasional...
Than the other side of me is like no, it's sole source for a reason. It's cheating, it defeats the point and itll makes the diet harder.

I truly don't know what to do, any advise appreciated.

@MrsHufflepuf yep I conceived 3 times while on plan. I miscarried the second time when my first was only 5months old. Once had normal period I got back on plan and then I conceived again when first was around 9mths.
Miscarriage not related to plan, I've had a few over the years.
Before oldest I had 2 miscarriages and then was struggling to get pregnant again, so went on plan as I was looking for reasons it wasn't happening and was blaming my weight and now I'm a mummy to a 2 & 1 Yr old.
There has been tons of woman who go on plan to get to a target wait for ivf and end up pregnant naturally while on plan

MrsHufflepuf · 13/01/2020 23:38

Thanks @whatsthesmell to qualify for ivf I need to loose about 7 stone... so I'm really hoping itll happen before that. At the same time I wanna be a health weight for me and baby.
Youre amazing for getting through, all you've been through, and two lovely little ones, that's amazing.
You've given me some much needed hope :)

I'm glad @MrsHufflepuf it's so common for it to happen naturally.
If you stick to the plan you'll be nearing your goal if not at it already in 6months. Which in the grand scheme of life is nothing at all.

@MrsHufflepuf I'm sure my consultant said you can have meals if they are healthy choices. I will check tomorrow when I go to weigh in and let you know. I think having some food and getting back on track the next day sounds like a good plan. You still have to live.
I find the bars really hard to finish, they are so chewy. Lol. I'm starting to prefer shakes as I feel like you think about food less, quickly drink one and get back on with your day. I do like the porridge though, getting the new Berry one tomorrow. Anyone else tried it yet.

Thanks, @Soph168 I guess we do what ever keeps working. And I would only have something that was allowed on step two. I'll still have my shakes and drink water.
I'm so hungry right now and I really think it's the bars that have done it. I was fine last week. Although looking forward to the spaghetti bowl meal tomorrow lunch time :D

Had weigh in today. Another 3lb down, did think I would loose more but still 10lb I just under two weeks. Tried the Berry porridge, it's really nice! Also had the curry tonight, no idea what I just ate but taste wise was good.
@MrsHufflepuf think a healthy meal out is OK and try to choose one with mostly stage 2 food that's in the book.

Thanks @Soph168 I had a long chat with my consultant and she totally believes a healthy chicken and salad type meal now and than actually kinda restart the weightlods. And if youre choosing step two stuff you're not actually "cheating"
So I actually feel alot more positive today.

Welcome on the weight loss that's the right direction :p
Just tried Mac n Cheese and actually really liked it 😅

Hi All, can I join. I am meeting a consultant tomorrow and planning on starting Thursday. I did this before about 12 years ago and did really well but it's gradually crept back on again. Am starting to feel really miserable I have back pain, get out of breath quickly and I sleep really badly as I wake myself up snoring!!! I know I need to make a change!!!
I have done other diets over the last 12 years but I think for me the success from the Cambridge diet was taking all food choices away from me!!!
I'm quite excited but worried about getting headaches. It's great to hear how others have been doing

Hi all, well I lost 6lb which I'm not overly pleased with, hoped for more, however I've just had 3 concurrent big surgeries so maybe the anaesthetic is playing a part?

In better news though I've lost a total of 12.5 inches since last week.. that does make me happy!!!

Report
sunsetandcocktails · 15/01/2020 11:06

Congratulations @RedDhalia ! That's a great loss, and inches too! I'm being weighed in a week so hoping I can achieve a similar success.
I'm on day 3 and feeling hunger pangs. My willpower is strong right now though- hopes it lasts!

@RedDhalia 6 pounds is great! Just think how happy youd be with that sorta loss normally.

So I've had one of those days, where someone at work has really negative about "this kind of diet" saying it must make me ill and how it's not healthy.

Sigh why people got to be so negative?

@MrsHufflepuf don't listen to them. It isn't any of their business. Obviously it isn't bad for us of it wouldn't be a sold product. It's terrible but you feel like you have to hide the fact you are on a diet. I'm dreading going back to work in Feb as I know people will have opinions on it.

I saw a post about using the vanilla shake to make a yummy morning coffee. Another one to try.
