Well done on your weight losses April and Mich!

I’ve stayed the same weight for my second week doing this (so still at 3.1kg weight loss so far), probably because pasta dishes and sweet things krept back into my mouth...Hopefully I will lose 1-2kg by next week.

RubySlippers77 · 03/02/2020 20:50

Pah. I was doing well (7lb off in 3 weeks) but I put 1lb back on this week. Sulked a lot and ate too much chocolate but hopefully back on it from today!

I've been following SW online but not sure I can justify £20 per month when my membership expires next week Sad

Sjanish33 · 03/02/2020 21:16

Thanks @theweightlossone feeling a good bit better but have to have my Thyroid checked. @rubyslippers77 I tried SW online in 2018 it really didn't work for me at all - there was no real peer support and I thought it was pricey.

I'm finding calorie counting a lot easier to do and it really teaches me about portion sizes - it sounds like you are having great results with SW so far. 7lb in 3 weeks is fab!

SheepSocks · 03/02/2020 21:45

Thank you @Sjanish33

I am not having much success losing weight. I lost 1 lb last month which I appear to have regained today. I'm going to hit the gym harder!

nibdedibble · 04/02/2020 07:25

Worked really hard. 217lbs on Friday, 213lbs today Smile
That is 1330 calories a day and cardio gym work every day. I guess that is what it takes. Damn Grin

The nutrition bit of MFP is interesting. I think I have a reasonably low-fat diet but I don’t, it tells me 45% of my calories are coming from fat. Yesterday it was just 2 eggs, a pat of butter, and 2tbls of vegan mayo Confused I also don’t eat as much protein as I think I do. Something else to work on.

NotPawPatrolAgain · 04/02/2020 09:18

So, I weighed in yesterday at 16.9. I am aiming for 16.6 next week. Well done everyone!

theweightlossone · 04/02/2020 12:49

Pretty sure I’ll have gained this week!!!

Due period though so if I do I’ll blame that Grin

RubySlippers77 · 04/02/2020 22:06

@Sjanish33 I agree with you about the peer support on the SW website, I'd rather be on here! If I could pay to only keep the recipes and daily tracker then I'd do that, but I think if I could pay for a (much smaller!) fee then I'd do it.

@theweightlossone I'll gain this week too if I don't stop eating pizza...

SunshineAvenue · 05/02/2020 07:45

As I suspected I've put on this week, only 0.4lb so not too bad considering it was a fairly high carb, high sugar week. I did average out at about 1500 a day so technically I should have lost at least 1/2 a lb but that just goes to show you the effect that carbs/water retention has on your body.

Goal for this week then is to go back to the principles of week 1 and 2 which was lowish carbs and sugar from fruit not cake!

SW: 14st 13 (01/01/20)
CW: 13st 12.2 (05/01/20)

Sjanish33 · 05/02/2020 08:25

Weighing in a day early by mistake
SW Jan 2nd - 89kg
CW Feb 5th - 84.6kg
Weekly loss 0.7kg/1.5lb

4.4kg/9.7lb loss since thread started!!
Happy with that as I had in up and down week.

RubySlippers77 · 05/02/2020 11:25

Well done @Sjanish33!

@SunshineAvenue I agree, if I eat a lot of carbs I don't tend to lose as much weight either. I'm investigating whether I have a slight wheat intolerance as I feel much better when I eat less carbs although seem unable to resist cake regardless

Sjanish33 · 05/02/2020 12:51

@RubySlippers77 and @SunshineAvenue I have been keeping low carb and have only had 1 slice of white bread since January 2nd and one potato :( no pasta or rice or biscuits or cake :( but I did have some couscous last week which I really enjoyed.

I strongly wondered about a gluten intolerance as we have a Celiac in the family and I feel so much less bloated without bread - but I'm beginning to think it may be a yeast allergy - I had a terrible rash (under boobs) and it has disappeared completely since staying off the bread. I would like to re-introduce carbs - I'm still eating carby veg like parsnips, and sweet potato and carrots though so maybe I'm just fooling myself.

RubySlippers77 · 06/02/2020 11:13

@Sjanish33 I am in awe of your no cake for over a month Shock

We would be really stuck without carby veg, DP loves swede & carrot mash, sweet potato fries etc. He went on a diabetes awareness course last year as his DM and DB are both diabetic, then came back and lectured me on the evils of potatoes, bananas and Diet Coke, amongst other things. I stopped listening when he continued his regular nights out drinking his body weight in alcohol and having a kebab afterwards Hmm

HarryRug · 06/02/2020 11:32

Been watching. Congratulations all of you. I only started my diet 30th January so only a week in. How soon have people started to lose the first kilogram or 2? I’ve been calorie counting and am exercising.

Sjanish33 · 06/02/2020 11:45

@RubySlippers77 I don't know how I did it either and it continues...I have to rush past the pastry counter in the supermarket, like a crazed woman :)

Yep, sweet potatoes and parsnips as chips are perfect and actually there is really no difference calorie wise just a tiny bit more nutritious.

I live on broccoli.

@Harryrug we are all different I'm sure, I do find the first week normally has the biggest results - lots of water weight - I lost 2kg in my first week in January. But it's slowed down to 1lb to 2lb a week, and that's brilliant too.

HarryRug · 06/02/2020 12:05

@sjanish33 thank you

theweightlossone · 06/02/2020 14:45

Checking in ladies! I’m completely off it this next few days as we’re away but hope you’re all getting on ok!

Sjanish33 · 06/02/2020 21:07

Anyone try...Eat this much .com - It's a meal planning, recipe app/site that gives you different ideas based on your daily calorie goal. I'm trying to transition from VLCD packs (still take shakes and have 2 full TFR days a week) and it's really difficult to count calories accurately in my opinion.

I had a bowl of homemade beef stew for dinner - MFP said 581 cals but ooh I could have gone in for seconds!
So I'm going to see if this app will help with planning particularly lunch and dinner meals. I'll let youse know. I hope all are getting on well. enjoy your break @theweightlossone - I'm heading away the end of next month and I can't wait!

SunshineAvenue · 07/02/2020 15:37

Thanks for the website heads up Sjanish looks like it could be handy.

I've had a couple of light days, felt I needed to 'reset' and I'm going out for lunch Sunday so want to save a few calories for that.

How's everyone else getting on?

Sjanish33 · 08/02/2020 00:11

I kind of burnt the wagon tonight - I was keeping under or around the calorie intake for the day until the evening and I had some wine, and nibbles and more nibbles. My brother isn't well (not a good prognosis) and it has hit me hard as he's next to me in age and still in my opinion young (53) so this little blip was coming...

Hope the rest of you are slaying that 3 stone...

SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe · 08/02/2020 09:09

Hi everyone. Want to shift between 3-4 stones. I am using Exante. Have used it before and it has been successful once over the first 3-4 days.

I am feeling steel like determination at the moment- can't remember when I felt so focussed- so that is really helping. I want to be slim and health.

Got the first day done yesterday. Weirdly don't feel hungry or headachy and have woken up with bags of energy this morning.

I am planning a massive wardrobe/style overhaul for 3 months time which is exciting me as I am vain thing.

I am feeling excited to be tackling this - other times I have felt resigned to it so I think I am in a different starting place now :)

SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe · 08/02/2020 09:15

Forgot add- I am doing the 800 cal a day plan but just using all their products initially as I find this helps me stay on track. I usually lose about a stone a month on this level of cals

RubySlippers77 · 08/02/2020 21:54

@Sjanish33 really sorry to hear about your DB. My youngest DB is currently waiting for a bone marrow transplant (I'm not a compatible donor) and it's hard feeling so helpless in the circumstances; you must be having a really tough time.

I will join you on burning the wagon, full of streaming cold, DP not lifting a finger to help with childcare/ cooking (although fully expects to retire to bed and leave me to cope whenever he has man flu) and things at home are making me sad too. Aaarrrggghhhh.

Welcome @SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe! Glad you are full of motivation, feel free to share it Grin I've been thinking about doing something low cal just really so I don't have to sort out meals any more, I don't enjoy cooking much and it seemed like an easy option... but can't afford a structured plan at the moment really. I've done Slim Fast before which was ok, but didn't tackle my dislike of meal planning/ prepping/ cooking! Will look into it though if only to lose a few lb's quickly to give myself motivation to lose the rest...

SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe · 09/02/2020 19:46

Hi Ruby - I bought their 4 week plan thing for under £70 from Exante which is pretty reasonable.

Going great guns today- must drink a bit more though!!!

theweightlossone · 10/02/2020 09:28

Back from holiday and going to lower my calorie limit for the next week at least to try and undo some of the damage. I usually weigh on a Wednesday but will wait till next Wednesday because I actually don’t want to know right now Grin
