Just that really. How the fuck did I get this big! I've always been on the chubby side, but at 5"9 I pulled it down off.

Fuck. Where do I even start

I've lost 5st in the last year, coming down from 14st 9lb. The great thing is that as soon as you stop the over eating and healthy habits you start reaping the benefits. Right from day one you feel better because you are taking back control.

Greysparkles · 05/01/2020 11:25

@chalkyc2 well done! That's fabulous! There's no shame in a shuffle, it's better that slobbing on the sofa!

Greysparkles · 05/01/2020 11:28

Well I bought a new set of scales today as mine were rubbish, I got a precision set with a higher weight limit.... Well I'm trying to not let this throw me of my game. But they weighed me at 20st 10.5lb.... So fuck knows what they would have weighed me when I started 4 days ago.
I will not let this set me back, its just a number that I need to get down either way 😔

I have to say I always weigh myself in kilos. Somehow than it IS just a number?!

Lolly34h · 05/01/2020 12:23

Well we went for a walk I'm on 4500 steps today so far. Also have danced round the kitchen like no ones watching. Worked up quite a sweat while doing the dishes and stuff haha. The way I see it is if I'm moving I'm burning calories. I will shift the butt shaped dent that's in my sofa. I am the biggest I've ever been. We lost my sons dad in november and I've eaten my feelings every day since!

Eukanuba · 05/01/2020 20:40

Good luck OP , one pound at a time

ringletsandtwiglets · 05/01/2020 23:09

You lovely people are wonderful. So good to hear your successes and motivation.

I’m 5’8 and currently 18st 12lbs. I also have PCOS, so have the classic big tummy look. In July, I was 21st, then got really ill and was in hospital, lost a lot of weight though mostly fluid from swelling, came home and ate a looooad of crap and went back up to 20 stone.

Now I’ve seen sense and have been slowly losing weight again. I generally have two scrambled eggs for breakfast, salad and some kind of protein (mostly chicken) for lunch and then a ‘normal’ dinner of things like spag bol, steak, roast dinner, chicken tray bakes. But I’ve changed to wholemeal pasta, have one roast potato, have salad instead of chips etc. I’m having popchips little bags, apples or raisins as a mid afternoon snack and drink water. I treat myself to a Diet Coke at the weekend. :)

I’ve also upped my exercise, averaging 8000 steps a day at the moment and hitting 10,000 a few times a week. I’m choosing to park further away from places to walk more, and have been doing exercise videos from YouTube too.

It helps to know other people are on a similar journey. I read a lot about people lamenting how fat they are, when their starting weight feels like a goal weight for me. Thank you all for sharing your stories xxx

Morning all.

Just weighed in and I've lost 2lbs from Weds. So this now takes me to bang on 16 stone. I'm going to work hard this week on the 1200 calories a day, lots of water and aim for 10k steps.

Keep plugging away all, a liss is a loss. I'm thinking of the summer and not wanting chafed thighs and to be hot and sweaty looking again.

Have a good week everyone

Greysparkles · 06/01/2020 07:53

Morning!
Well done couch 1 more lb till you're in the next stone down, bet that feels amazing!

Back to normality today, kids back to school then straight to work for me. I have a very physical job so I'm going to try to do some extra movement whilst I'm there today.

I know what you mean @ringletsandtwiglets, my best friend is 11stone. Granted she is only 5ft 1. But I just can't relate when she's whinging!

I forgot to weigh this morning but I am back at work today. Good thing in that I have limited food opportunities but bad in that I am sat behind a computer most of the day :(

How is everyone doing?

ringletsandtwiglets · 06/01/2020 14:09

Well done, @Couch25k! I’m down another 1lb today and have done a 30 min YouTube workout. I was going to go for a walk but it’s pouring down. I might go to Cribbs Causeway to wander around the shops and get some steps done in the dry!

I’m currently signed off work but due to return imminently. Fitting in exercise when working is going to take some thinking about. I’m mostly doing it at home when Mr Twiglets is in bed. My normal work hours will mean he’s still awake when I get up and then up when I get home. I could banish him to the study while I puff away in the living room, I guess.

motherofawhirlwind · 06/01/2020 16:02

@chalkyc2 am veganuary-ing too :) so far, so good, but need to cut out the "oh, I need to try that vegan sausage roll / burger / biscuit" mentality

Greysparkles · 08/01/2020 11:18

Morning,
Still in it and doing well, have so much more energy and finding it easier to wake up in the mornings! Looking forward to weighing tomorrow 😁

Can I join in? Weigh about 140kg and I'm 5ft 1in so basically look like an armchair with a head. Dh was diagnosed with diabetes just before Christmas so I've been trying to support him by massively cutting down on sugar with him. We've given up eating after 8pm too. I'm on day 3 and already fed up and craving chocolate and ice cream. How long will it be before I notice a difference?

Groovee · 08/01/2020 17:10

I've lost 5.5st and kept it off for 21 months following slimming world.

I needed the accountability of the scales and the plan works for me. I took my losses in half stones and it soon all added up. I wasn't a big loser like some people and it took me 21 months to lose it.

You can do it by looking at it as a lifestyle rather than a diet. I didn't exercise for the first 12 weeks. Then I went way out of my comfort zone and joined a Burlesque class. That's toned me up nicely but not helped with the actual weight loss.

You can do this x

FannyFartALot · 08/01/2020 17:14

I remember looking in disbelief at the scales when they said I was 18 stone 2lb. It really was a wake up call. I’m 5ft 8 so that put me at 6 and a half stone over the normal weight for my height. It seemed an insurmountable amount to lose but I had to start somewhere!

It’s taken me a year to lose just over 3 stone (14 stone 10lb now). Hypothyroidism doesn’t help. It’s coming off slow but I’m not calorie counting just cutting out junk and eating cleaner, although I’m doing a lot of exercise which makes me feel amazing and has changed my shape before the scales showed a significant difference.

The next last 3 stone feels manageable now.

Small steps is my advice and if you have a bingey day get back on the horse the next day. The bingey days will get less as you see results. I have found the exercise has naturally made me make better food choices as I don’t want to waste the hard work. Good luck!

BettyJean · 08/01/2020 17:25

@Groovee

That’s really good weight loss, congratulations!

I’m debating between weight watchers and slimming world but have decided to see what I can do by myself by the end of January. If I’m doing ok by myself, I’ll keep going, if not I’ll join slimming world.

TheStirrer · 08/01/2020 17:37

Well I was doing ok until my car broke down today and have just spent the day scoffing as at home so surrounded by things to pick at.....
I am so cross with myself with my emotional eating - I know that scoffing myself won’t help my car get better. Really I should have just had a good cry or should have vented my frustration on a cushion Sad.

Still it’s 6 hours till bed; I can stop scoffing and make myself a healthy stir fry and get off my fat arse for a change tonight Grin

Laska2Meryls · 08/01/2020 17:44

OP have you considered doing the Low carb bootcamp starting Monday? It really works..

Laska2Meryls · 08/01/2020 17:46

.. read IloveCherries post at the end of the thread. She has lost 6stone doing it and is a whole new woman!

motherofawhirlwind · 08/01/2020 18:00

3lbs off in my pre 1st week (I know I had a lot of meals out so wasn't really starting til this week). Veganuary is so far totally fine and yummy. Am enjoying it even!

dementedma · 08/01/2020 18:09

Slimming World is a con. I second looking for RebelFit on Facebook to understand why you overeat. Then make healthy changes rather than a restrictive diet. Even a little bit of exercise, walki g or swimming will help

Greysparkles · 09/01/2020 16:01

4lb off in my first week. Am super chuffed, and it's just motivated me to carry on! We've got this!

OP posts:
ringletsandtwiglets · 09/01/2020 18:24

@Greysparkles, you are a sparkly star! Flowers for you!

I'm 4lbs down since Saturday too, although I weigh myself every day. I've managed to do an hour of exercise every day so far this week, which I'm really proud about. I've gone from barely doing 3000 steps a day when not working, to consistently doing 10k.

The most surprising thing is that my ankles feel stronger. I've had wobbly ankles since a missed fracture 20 years ago, so walking on slopes or even a dropped kerb was difficult. I'm much more stable when I go for walks now!

Not much difference in how I look yet, but hopefully that will come.

DobbyLovesSocks · 09/01/2020 20:10

Well done @greysparkles
I've been fairly good this week and haven't smacked in the evenings. FTW
