Just that really. How the fuck did I get this big! I've always been on the chubby side, but at 5"9 I pulled it down off.

Fuck. Where do I even start

Right I've just come back from joining SW. I've set an interm target of 18lb by the end of April. Plus I've paid up front for the next 12 weeks.

Just making a few bus n bobs to survive the weekend. Some home Meade soup with pasta (and I've found I can have crustless Wholemeal bread, 3 slices as a healthy extra)

God knows what I'm going to do with all the Xmas cheese!

Liskee · 03/01/2020 18:16

I'm hovering on this thread as I feel strangely invested, also I'm really struggling to get back on track after Christmas and everyone's resolve is boosting my motivation. So, mind if I hop on for the ride?!

I'm doing Slimming World, one thing that's ever worked for me, and really want to get to my target weight this year Grin

Greysparkles · 03/01/2020 21:34

Liskee
More the merrier!
Day 2 has gone well, had the slimming word meat feast pasta meal for dinner. Awful. Actually inedible. Do not bother buying that one!!!

Well done!!
I've joined the WW online, start tracking tomorrow.

frustratedashell · 03/01/2020 23:25

Hi all, I started my diet on Sunday. Got 23lbs to lose. Am doing my own thing ,using my fitness pal and am going to the gym. Feeling positive

DobbyLovesSocks · 04/01/2020 09:16

Morning ladies (and gents?). I'm back on my diet with a vengeance. SW and WW ready meals are not worth buying. What you gain in convenience, you lose in taste and flavour.

Have a big function in March that I would like to get a new dress for and not have to resort to any of the tents currently hanging in my wardrobe.

15s10.5lbs - Shock

Greysparkles · 04/01/2020 11:23

Morning everybody, onto day 3, I've had a look at team RH on Facebook and have signed up. Still feeling positive.
I need to take some before pictures but I'm actually so ashamed to do so

@greysparkles thats great! What are your calories?

Rockbird · 04/01/2020 17:57

Hovering too. I join one of these threads every bloody year and still finish off the same weight as I started. This has to change, I'm sick of being fat.

WeirdPookah · 04/01/2020 18:04

Have you seen the thread about walking a mile a day? When I was most successful in my weight loss (I lost more than half my weight) I walked daily without fail. So I have joined the thread for accountability.

I use SparkPeople to track my food. It has a great community and the food tracking is so useful and eye opening.

Greysparkles · 04/01/2020 18:13

Calories set at 2500 which seems ridiculously high, especially as I'm very sedentary!

I have lost 3st 4lb since mid-July but put 5 lb on over Christmas. Have managed to lose 2 of those since.

I start the day with grapes and fat free/high protein fromage frais or two hard boiled eggs and crackers.
Lunch is soup and crackers sometimes with cottage cheese or Laughing Cow Light cheese triangles. Followed by an apple.
Tea is a meal with DH - I have been making homemade coleslaw with the fromage frais based dressing and eating it with vegetable lasagne, lentil bake, Linda MacCartney sausages etc. Making salads that are different every night- including fruit and a range of veg.
Basically counting calories and have upped my exercise - walking 8-9km almost every day. Exercise is the key for me. It make a big difference to what I lose if I am exercising.
I haven't followed any diet in particular, tried to stay lowish carbs.
It hasn't been hard but I have craved cake since Christmas Grin

chalkyc2 · 05/01/2020 07:53

Joining you all please! Have 8 stone to lose really. A whole normal person!! Anyway - I'm indirectly starting by trying to do veganuary - so that means all the Xmas choc and cheese has gone in the bin and I can't shove the kids leftover pizza and fish fingers in my mouth before it gets to the food recycling. And I've bought myself some 'active wear' in the sales that actually fits so I can get out and move a bit more (tricky with kids schedules and work with longish commute). Let's see how it goes!

errorofjudgement · 05/01/2020 08:57

Hi, can I join in too please? I’m looking to lose around 4 stone in all. I’ve rejoined WW, and their new purple plan looks v similar to SW, but I find the classes much more motivating with a focus on the whole person. Key issue is to find what works long term for you.

errorofjudgement · 05/01/2020 09:00

Meant to add, my weigh in day is a Saturday so am aiming to lose 6lb by my final weigh in this month.
(Bearing in mind that you generally get a bit of a boost in the first couple of weeks)

Greysparkles · 05/01/2020 09:08

It's my sons birthday in about 10 weeks, id love to lose 2st by then, tbh I'll take any loss atm!

OP posts:
FairfaxAikman · 05/01/2020 09:10

Can I join please? I've got about 10st to lose

BuffaloCauliflower · 05/01/2020 09:19

Well done for starting OP! I really wouldn’t recommend SW, it’s so easy to overeat or build in cheats, saving up sins for loads of wine and chocolate isn’t healthy. MFP is a great start, focus on good fats, protein, lots of veg.

I’d really recommend reading the book The Diet Myth - not a diet plan but will help you understand your body better. And look at the Blood Sugar Diet/Fast 800 (the updated version) - medically much better supported than SW, works fast which is really motivating, and will really reset you to a healthy eating style.

Lolly34h · 05/01/2020 09:42

I weighed myself 5ft 9 and 19st 4. Totally fed up. So today I signed up weight watchers. Free month gonna try and do it without going to a class and reprogramming the way i feel about food. I abuse food. Eat for boredom, stress and upset. I need to channel the negative into doing something pro active. So today me and the toddler are gonna go for a long walk to bank my 10000 steps and get the toddler some fresh air. Todays the day I make a change

notthemum · 05/01/2020 10:00

Hey sparkles. I see you have a Wii fit.
Used to look after kids and we got a Wii dance junior. All the kids and me would choose two or three songs. They show you the actions. Even did it with my mate when she came round one evening. We were knackered but it was a scream. See if you can find a mate and dance away with it to songs and routines you haven't heard for years. You will lose weight, have a laugh and not realise it's actually exercising.
Good luck 🍀 💐

Inanothertime · 05/01/2020 10:03

Following you all at the moment...! I need to join in.

Greysparkles · 05/01/2020 10:08

I'm with you there lolly I eat my feelings, I know I do. But don't know how to stop that? It was a tough year last year. Started with my ds being diagnosed asd after years of appointments and waiting around. Such a wierd feeling at the time, half relief half sadness. Which of course, I grazed my way through, we had 3 friends dies suddenly last year, again grazed my way through all that. Then all the usual stuff on top, money worries, job stress. I need to find a new coping mechanism.

OP posts:
Greysparkles · 05/01/2020 10:09

notthemum good idea! I'm pretty sure we have that game somewhere, will have to dig it out and tempt the kids into a boogie

OP posts:
chalkyc2 · 05/01/2020 11:13

I just went for a...umm...well
I hesitate to say run, but it was more than a walk! A shuffle! 3.5k. It was fine and the people who saw me en route didn't burst out laughing or point or anything like that!
