I’ve been living off Brie and chocolate since December began and I’ve put weight on. Currently 9st4lbs and I want to be 8st10lbs.
Anyone with me!?

Going to try calorie counting but open to suggestions. I currently eat far to much crap which is the root of the problem.

@MyuMe I think @everycowandagain 's advice back there is brilliant about mini goals! It's so true about the good day/bad day cycle and impact on your motivation and mindset.

@Octopus37 and @dontfund so sorry you're having a tough time. It's so hard not to turn to food for comfort, I agree about trying to get some sleep if you can although that's usually easier said than done.

Heygirlheyboy · 28/01/2020 17:06

Hope everyone feels better. That hairy bikers sausage casserole for me, thanks to pp!

TheHoundsofLove · 28/01/2020 17:19

I'm also sorry for those of you having a tough time. Flowers
My legs are still a bit achey from the weekend so just did a steady 5k this morning. Luckily, the yoga seems to be loosening up my neck so am back to my weights too.

Heygirlheyboy · 28/01/2020 17:40

TheHoundsOfLove you are so active! I am sitting down shortly to hours of work ahead for a presentation :( least I don't have my usual distraction of chocolate, jellies etc!

Wineloffa · 28/01/2020 17:55

@sforsh49 and @thehoundsoflove thanks for Pinch if Nom feedback, I bought it at lunchtime. I’ll post any successful recipes on here Smile

Today I’ve eaten;
B- porridge + blueberries
L- smoked salmon & wheaten bread
D- homemade vegetable soup

Snacks- Apple, banana, yogurt

Do we believe Fitbit for energy expended? I synched mine today for the first time in ages and it is saying 1800-2000 a day depending how far I've walked (18k steps/12.5km today) which is higher than I thought and means the muggle maths of 1500 cals a day would actually be ok. I'm only half heartedly counting calories because I reckon the 16:8 is keeping a lid on them and I am keeping my meals healthy with not too many carbs and lots of salad or veg. Just interested!

Heygirlheyboy · 28/01/2020 19:26

I'd say it's reasonably accurate. I'm nothing like as active as you and I'm surprised how little I expend really. The 2000 daily recommendation is way off imo. I'm at 1611 so far today but around 1200-1300 for intake.

everycowandagain · 28/01/2020 19:28

@Patchworksack I guess the only way to know for sure is to try that limit for a bit and see what happens!!

I seem to have eaten 1200 calories and haven't had dinner yet. Doh. That's what happens when I do my gym workout first thing. Oh well, I guess it will be a very small portion of whatever DH has made for dinner!!

Heygirlheyboy · 28/01/2020 19:38

Just finished logging there and I'm under 1200! Not hungry. In case anyone interested, I had two weetabix with full fat milk, feta, beetroot and mixed leaves with pumpkin seeds and frwnch dressing, sausage casserole and sweet potato cubes and mandarin, apple and 12 almonds for snacks. Doesn't feel restrictive.

Patchworksack · 28/01/2020 19:41

heygirl sounds delicious!

toasterstrudle · 28/01/2020 19:56

Fell of the wagon today, had crackers, a few chocolate biscuits and a big dirty baked potato with beans and cheese for tea! Never mind, onwards and upwards tomorrow Grin Cant even reflect and say I mindfully enjoyed it all because that would be a lie! I suspect it was triggered by not drinking any water today and having a terrible night with both kids up the whole time, but should probably have gone for a walk instead of eating!

everycowandagain · 28/01/2020 21:53

Tomorrow is a new day @toasterstrudle

Twixes · 28/01/2020 22:29

@toasterstrudle Lack of sleep is a killer! When my kids have me up I generally eat badly the next day

Loving the food notes, I'll have to try that pizza wrap. It sounds great! Child friendly too

Not so bad for me, but my weighing-everything-resolution has already been broken!

Breakfast: protein granola (weighed)
Lunch: leftover homemade pad Thai
Dinner: chicken and veg broth/soup. Small ish bowl
Snack: tiny protein bar from Aldi
Exercise: zero, other than a bit of walking in work

I really hope I'm at about 1300, that's what it comes to in MFP anyway. Feel a teeny bit hungry now but I'm going to ignore it and go to sleep if I can.

WellErrr · 28/01/2020 22:45

Evening all! Just checking in quickly after a long shift. I’ve done 1365 calories today, more than I wanted but under 1400 so I’m ok.

I’ve also made overnight oats for the first time, hope they’re nice!

I’ll check in properly tomorrow xx

Heygirlheyboy · 28/01/2020 22:59

Yum I have them in fridge also WellErr.

DontFundHate · 29/01/2020 06:15

@WellErrr how did you make your overnight oats? I make mine with 40g oats, 200g yogurt but fancy a change!

Woken up with a horrible cold. Don't feel up to exercising, which is annoying as I took regular exercise into account when I came up with my daily calories total, will re-evaluate at the weekend and see if im up to doing a mega run to make up for it, otherwise I won't use my banked calories maybe

DontFundHate · 29/01/2020 06:16

@Heygirlheyboy also wondering about your overnight oats!

Patchworksack · 29/01/2020 06:31

Hope you feel better quickly wellerr look after yourself.

Patchworksack · 29/01/2020 06:32

Sorry, that was to dontfundhate ignore me, I haven't woken up properly yet.

MyuMe · 29/01/2020 06:35

I skipped dinner last night.

Couldn't face it as I got home too late. That would save some calories.

WellErrr · 29/01/2020 06:40

Morning everyone!

@WellErrr how did you make your overnight oats? I make mine with 40g oats, 200g yogurt but fancy a change!

I layered them in an old jam jar - oats, then yogurt, then frozen raspberries, then oats yogurt frozen raspberries again.
Had to keep zero-ing the scales to get the right amounts of everything to work out the calories, it came to 264 and is more than I’d usually have for breakfast, so I’m going to try have half and make it last two days.
I’m assuming it’ll be ok in the fridge till tomorrow!?

Hope you’re feeling better soon @DontFundHate!

MyuMe what sort of day did you have yesterday?

OP posts:
Octopus37 · 29/01/2020 07:01

Hope you feel better soon DontFund. Sounds as if everyone is doing well. Was 9.6.75 this morning so pleased with that.

MyuMe · 29/01/2020 07:03

Awful. I'm really struggling at the moment with work stress and crappy guy situation.

I did ok because I skipped dinner and came in about 1200

TheHoundsofLove · 29/01/2020 07:30

That's great Octopus !
I've weighed myself this morning and have put on 3 chuffing lbs!!! I did a fast day on Monday and haven't been overeating on non-fast days and, if anything, my clothes feel looser! I have been exercising pretty hard though so maybe it's just muscle fluid retention...?

HippoHips · 29/01/2020 07:53

HippoHips is back!!! Sorry all. Work and kids and life been crazy which is ironic as thanks to my dry, low sugar, calorie counting January it’s actually been the longest, dullest month of my life. So far I’ve shifted an oinktastic 2.8 kilos and I’m now just under a kilo from my goal. I plan to break dry January on Friday so keeping the weight off might be more of a challenge than losing it. Things I’ve learnt this month...

I think the low sugar has had the biggest impact. If I eat pudding now I want to sleep for a week.

I’ve not gone low carb really but I have cut back hugely on bread. My erratic diary on MFP has shown me that bread gobbles up calories!

I’ve not gone out very much. It’s far easier to calorie count when you stay in!!

I’ve been trying to eat my daily meals in a shorter window (so intermittent fasting in a very loose way). I find that much easier to keep up.

I exercise but try not to eat my exercise calories!

For the first week I lost nothing. It’s true what they say, you genuinely need to stick at it to see the results.

And finally, I need to remember all the above lessons for the next year so I’m not back to guzzling creme eggs by March. Please can we keep this thread going even after we’ve all lost. Will be nice to keep checking in and remind myself that I picked my username for a reason! Wink
