I’ve been living off Brie and chocolate since December began and I’ve put weight on. Currently 9st4lbs and I want to be 8st10lbs.
Anyone with me!?

Going to try calorie counting but open to suggestions. I currently eat far to much crap which is the root of the problem.

Yes sweets and chocolate are my downfall too

Twixes · 27/01/2020 21:55

@MyuMe Could you try to hold off eating for as long as possible before you eat in the morning? I find if I eat a lot first thing it kind of gets my hunger ramped up?? Losing weight is not easy, it's all about willpower! You can do it! 💪🏻

I'm laughing at my name making people want to eat twixes, I think I was eating one when I name changed! I like the lettuceleaf suggestion...

A not bad day for me:

B: skimmed milk coffee, small protein granola bowl, weighed
L: mug shot chow mien flavour

D: pad Thai with about 4 prawns
Snacks: apple, satsuma and some grapes

Total cals 1337

I have watched the video now everycow very helpful!

DontFundHate · 28/01/2020 06:41

@MyuMe im working on 1400 a day, but I tend to have lower calorie days Mon - Thurs to have extra calories leftover for Fri - sat. I have about 300 kcal breakfast, 300kcal ish lunch and usually about 5-600kcal dinner. I try not to snack at all as that's a problem for me! Tom kerridge has some lovely recipes which are all calorie counted. I still eat pasta, rice, bread, oats, toast every day, but I weigh it and keep to sensible portions

everycowandagain · 28/01/2020 06:42

Glad you thought so @Patchworksack!!

I am up half a pound on yesterday but that's OK, it is normal and expected and I am doing the right things. Am up early to get my legs workout done before work, and I have a backpack full of veg sticks and other good food to fuel my day. Feeling a bit tired after a terrible night's sleep but I know I will be energised after my workout.

DontFundHate · 28/01/2020 06:50

@WellErrr they are very nice! One corn wrap, spread with 1tbsp tomato puree (I use a garlic flavour), on top put 40g chopped up tomato, 30g grated mozzarella and 1 slice chopped up Parma ham. Put under hot grill for a few mins. Slice up like a pizza! Comes to 265kcal and 1 of your 5 a day.

Wineloffa · 28/01/2020 07:37

Good morning. Has anyone here got the book Pinch of Nom? I need inspiration for low calorie dinners and wondering if it’s worth buying.

@MyuMe do you like dark chocolate? When I’m craving something sweet in the evening a square or 2 of good quality dark chocolate usually does the trick or a low cal yogurt. These are my snacking go to’s these days.

toasterstrudle · 28/01/2020 07:50

God yeah @everycowandagain dont worry about half pounds! I fluctuate all the time and theres no rhyme or reason to it but its the overall trend I'm watching. I track on an app called 'simple weight tracker' - annoyingly cant show the whole month in one shot but the below 3 and I'll post 1 more show the progress I've made since 28th Dec, lots of mini up and downs but the overall trend is down.

Omg @DontFundHate that sounds amazing!! Will def be making that!

TheHoundsofLove · 28/01/2020 08:23

Well One of my friends was telling me about that Pinch of Nom book the other day - she said it was really good and the recipes sounded pretty nice.

everycowandagain · 28/01/2020 08:33

@toasterstrudel yep that pattern looks familiar!

MyuMe · 28/01/2020 09:25

I'm always thwarted

The monthly food market is here today.

But I have been good at brekkie and am going to the gym

Patchworksack · 28/01/2020 11:16

everycow I think I love Jordan - telling it like it is

everycowandagain · 28/01/2020 11:18

@Myume how about you set yourself a small target that is achievable (go to the gym twice this week or stick to 1600 calories a day for a week) and then reassess from there?

Starting off with a really tough target like 1200 calories a day just reinforces the try/fail/beat yourself up cycle.

DontFundHate · 28/01/2020 11:18

Yes I love him too!!

Today's menu

B - 1 scotch pancake, 2tbsp honey skyr, banana
L - my lovely wrap pizza!
S - piece of fruit, maybe some yogurt
D - tom kerridge pasta bake
S - biscuit

everycowandagain · 28/01/2020 11:21

@patch that one was great. Have binge watched most of his YouTube vids and moved on to his podcasts Wink

Patchworksack · 28/01/2020 11:47

What did you think about his muggle maths? Using that, my recommended calories would be 1500 (12 x 126) but using other calculators I think my TDEE is about 1600 (and fitbit says 1600-1800 depending how much exercise I've done) so it would be a pretty small deficit.

everycowandagain · 28/01/2020 11:59

It works out pretty close for me, my goal is 130, which x 12 is 1560. I target 1500 and do a lot of exercise but don't add back exercise calories and it is a good level for me.

For me I guess the point was that it needs to be a level you can sustain and be consistent at and so long as it produces a deficit you will lose overall. But definitely room to adjust for yourself based on what works for you I think.

Octopus37 · 28/01/2020 12:52

So hard isn't it. I weigh every day cause I need that motivation and incentive, even if there are fluctuations I cam see that the trend is downwards (marginally). I'm pretty miserable at the moment for various reasons so finding the whole trying not to emotionally eat really hard. Had my usual breakfast and lunch today. Could eat my bodyweight in chocolate, but keep telling myself that I will feel even more shit if I do cause I will be adding to my problems not diminishing them.

Patchworksack · 28/01/2020 12:55

Flowers octopus - sorry you are having a hard time.

Octopus37 · 28/01/2020 12:57

Thanks. Hope everyone else is getting on well today. Would love to be one of those people who go off food and cant eat when they are miserable lol

Sforsh49 · 28/01/2020 13:59

@wineloffa I have both Pinch of Nom books and they're both really good IMO. I also like Two Chubby Cubs and Gino di Campo's The I Diet is pretty good too. My husband has loads of allergies, one of which is nuts and anaphylactic so I cook everything from scratch

Heygirlheyboy · 28/01/2020 14:02

I am the same as you octopus but you're so right re feeling worse.

DontFundHate · 28/01/2020 15:14

Sorry to hear that @Octopus37 not having a good time here either and also wish I went off food!

Trying to be kind to myself at the moment more than ever, try my best, get some sleep, do a little even if I can't do it all, at least it's something in the right direction

Had to do some baking today, so an unplanned 200kcal or so with testing everything, only to make sure that it tastes as nice as it looked!
