Anyone care to join me?

I need to lose weight - about 2.5st - but my main goal is just to be healthier by making better choices and maintaining healthy habits.

I'm getting organised today and Day 1 is tomorrow, small steps lead to big things :o

Yesterday:

Breakfast 0
Lunch leftover mushroom lasagne - had it late so managed to fast 19 hrs or so, gonna try 24hrs next week
Dinner went out to street food festival for chicken and chips and a half pint 🍻

Nothing yet today - we are having pancakes for brunch in an hour or so

What's everyone doing about weighing? In the past I have weighed every day but not sure that is helpful really

StarsOutShining · 01/09/2019 12:33

singing for me, I have no particular rules, it’s simply whether it’s motivating or demotivating or neutral. I can find it demotivating, so don’t rely on it too much, but some people find it very useful. My plan is to use the scales more when I reach whatever my target weight is to help me stop me backsliding. For now I’m mostly trying to focus more on healthier food, and esp smaller portions, though I have seen the scales go down a few pounds over the last month too.

stoneysongs · 01/09/2019 12:43

Hi @StarsOutShining yes I think it'll be better for me to focus on what I'm doing rather than what the scars are saying IYKWIM. Might weigh once a week on a Monday and hope for a little loss each time.

gigi556 · 01/09/2019 13:23

@singingstones I'm not sure about weighing ... upthread I posted an article that explained that you should weigh yourself everyday and then take the average for the week and then have an anchor week and measure progress monthly! The science behind it is that our weight fluctuates daily depending on a number of factors including menstrual cycle. I'm not too fussed about a number as I'm trying to gain muscle but equally I know my number needs to drop regardless. I know I should take pics and measurements too but it's such a faff!

gigi556 · 01/09/2019 21:39

Did ok today. Think my cals might be a bit higher than this. Went for dinner and had a steak and chips so that kind of blew my calories out of the water but I managed to leave a few chips on the plate which is kind of unheard of for me.

Just ordered new kitchen scales as mine have packed in. Need them to keep my portions under control at home.

Popping in to say hello and report back on my 3 day juice ‘cleanse’ (hate that phrase) that I did last week. Fuck it was hard! But...I lost 4 lbs!

Been eating smaller portions of healthier, low carb-ish stuff since then and lost another pound over the weekend, so 5 lbs off in a week. And that’s while I’m menstruated and bloated, so feeling extra chuffed! Grin.

If I can lose even a pound a week now I’ll be happy.

DontGetMeWrongBaby · 01/09/2019 21:41

Menstruated = menstrual

stoneysongs · 01/09/2019 22:33

Well done @DontGetMeWrongBaby excellent results

StarsOutShining · 01/09/2019 23:00

singing sounds good. I am just rather random in my weighing! Every day for a few days, then don’t bother for a couple of weeks. dontget and gigi definitely sound on course. Hope everyone stays healthy next week!

B. Peanut butter on toast
L. Vegetable Moroccan raging home made new recipe - delish
D. Seconds!

I’m away for a few days now. I’ll be more reliant on cafes and stuff 😳!

StarsOutShining · 01/09/2019 23:16

Moroccan Tagine!

Leftiefterson · 02/09/2019 00:46

Sorry folks I’d forgotten to post. Must make it an every day thing.

Fell off the wagon a bit today as I had a children’s party and well, you know, I grazed.

B- Coffee
L- cocktail sausages and some sandwiches and maybe a slice of quiche
D - toast
S - slice of birthday cake

I did cycle this morning but that probably doesn’t equalise me.

Tomorrow is Monday, let’s have a good day people.

Apolloanddaphne · 02/09/2019 07:36

Good morning. Today is my weigh in day.

26/8: 13st 7lb
02/9: 13st 5.25lb

Loss of 1.75lb.

For some reason i was a bit cross that i hadn't lost very much weight given this as my first week. Then i thought about it and really i have just been cutting down rather than doing a full blown diet so that i guess that loss is actually pretty good. I certainly don't feel like i have been hungry or deprived.

glenthebattleostrich · 02/09/2019 07:51

Good morning,

Well done Apollo, that's a great loss just by cutting back.

Back to work today, which makes getting into a routine a bit easier.

Today I have walked the dog for 30 minutes (she wasn't impressed being dragged from her bed at dawn).

Loaded the dishwasher, sorted a load of washing and put the dryer on. Oh and put the food shop away. Lots of delicious and healthy food arrived so no excuses this week.

My food plan today is:

Yogurt, berries and seeds for breakfast
Eggs for lunch
Lamb curry for tea

Watermelon and nuts as snacks.

I'm taking the monsters to softplay today then organising DDs stuff for first day back to school tomorrow. Aiming for 15000 steps today. Playing with the kiddos and another dog walk should see to that.

Oh and weighed in at 13st 12.8 today. Not as bad as it could have been considering its the end of the summer holidays! Aiming to have the 12.8 gone by Halloween.

stoneysongs · 02/09/2019 07:57

@Apolloanddaphne i was just thinking something similar:
25/8 14st 3.2
1/9 14st 1.4
So have lost 1.8lbs. But like you say I have been cutting down gently, have had chips and beer etc. Think I will try to weigh once a week on a Sunday and aim to be a bit less each week, no rush. If I could keep that up until Christmas I would have lost 2 stone which would be amazing

GoodwithRocksandGems · 02/09/2019 08:04

Count me in. I’m usually reasonably healthy but I’ve had a summer of alcohol, cheese sandwiches and crisps. Plus some pain in my feet has meant that I couldn’t do my usual davina DVD’s.

I had a lovely swim in the sea yesterday, I was in for ages (although it took me 2+ hours to warm up afterwards) so I want to start lane swimming at the local pool on Fridays like I used to.

Currently drinking tea and contemplating some porridge.

SquintEastwood · 02/09/2019 08:46

Week 2 - 13st 6lbs (+1.25)

Well that wasn't quite the plan, can't say I'm surprised my eating hadn't been great BUT I did do 2 rounds of an exercise video which is more than I usually do. I feel like someone has pumped my stomach with air - so bloated and heavy gut feeling today!

I've also joined a local PT page for a free trial and sighed up to take part in her planking challenge for the month and done my first 20 secs earlie!

I'm working from 9.30 - 8pm so all food is packed - just realised I've double pastad but never mind 😂

B: Fruit, yogurt, oats
L: Minestrone soup
D: Veg lasagne and salad
S: Mini party rings

Can I please join?
I'm getting married next July and I just want to look and feel my best. I also need to get into healthier habits (I have been having a Pepsi max with my breakfast!)
5ft 2in, 60.5kg. Doesn't sound too bad but after having 2kids in quick succession (10.5 months apart) I need to lose the belly. Also think that the firmest part of my body are my hands!

Isthebigwomanhere · 02/09/2019 09:54

Off to Tesco today. I've meal planned for the week and as I'm off today, I'm going to prep for the week.

swampytiggaa · 02/09/2019 11:07

Hello! I’d like to join 🙂 I don’t have much weight to lose (about 7lbs) but I need to be more consistent with exercise and decent food 🙂

I’m doing fasting currently 🙂 16:8 is the goal but generally I am doing 18:6. I am training for a half marathon at the end of the month and have done all my long runs fasted on a Sunday morning.

I try not to eat before 12 and not after 8pm.

I’m losing on average 1/2lb a week eating what I want during my set hours.

WhenDoISleep · 02/09/2019 12:51

Back from our holiday and day 1 for me. Starting weight is 14st 11.5lbs. I put on less than a pound during the holiday which surprised me given I felt like I was eating so much.

ChipInTheSugar · 02/09/2019 16:04

7 days since I started the Fast800 and I've lost 2.2kgs. More than happy with that!

StarsOutShining · 02/09/2019 17:01

My long post disappeared!

Don’t worry squint these things happen. I put on 2 pounds overnight- but I blame the chickpeas in my delish Moroccan ragine!!!

I’ll try to post about once a week on Mondays. Its the long game for me, and with my physical restrictions I have to go slowly. But even though it’s only been a month for me I just feel lighter and clearer in myself.

stoneysongs · 02/09/2019 17:20

Pleased with myself today for managing a 24 hr fast - no breakfast or lunch and have had chicken stir fry / a plum / handful of walnuts / bit of dark choc. Stuffed now Smile and just need to make sure I don't waver tonight!

magicmallow · 02/09/2019 17:49

hello everyone i am thinking about joining!!! I'll check in once my kid is back at school in a few days if that's ok :)

gigi556 · 02/09/2019 21:28

I'm really struggling today with my mindset. Just feeling like I can't do it. I just want to eat. I'm feeling a little deprived to be honest and also didn't feel I did that great with my food choices. I know I'm being hard on myself but idk, I'm going to weigh in tomorrow but I feel like I need a quick win to feel like this is worth it and I don't think I'm going to get it...
