Anyone up for losing a stone?

teneight · 24/05/2019 09:14

I am bursting out of all of my clothes, I have decided to lose the offending stone.

Just weighed myself and I'm 10'8.

I could probably do with losing 1.5 stones but I'm setting a goal of one stone which will get me back into my clothes.

Fancy joining me?

Well done Decormad38!

So I am exactly the same as last week (10st). No mystery as to why, lots of wine and a lot of bread and New Jersey potatoes. I am not giving up and I am not disheartened as it was the worst week in the month for me with bad pmt and period just starting.

Starting again today and it should be a much better week, I feel calmer and DH has just left for an 8 day work trip so I can eat earlier and have a veggie week without being tempted. Cannot believe tomorrow is 1st of June!

Neome · 31/05/2019 11:21

Best of luck to everyone doing this. I am on day 1 of a plan which I have confidence in but need to bolster my stickabilty or I won't last a week. Too easy to reach for cake.

Iwearthegreenwillow totally agree that calorie counting is horrible and I am much better if I just follow some rules for myself. I had a lot of success a few years ago with the Dukan diet which is basically low carb, and that was good as it was very prescriptive about what you can and can't eat and slowly builds up to more or less normal eating which was good. No calorie counting, just relied on you being sensible with portion size and eating lots of veg. I loved the Dukan pancakes though (sort of alternative to bread that you make with bran, egg and yoghurt - sounds horrible I know!) and still make them sometimes.

readyforsunshine · 31/05/2019 14:05

Tripped I had great success with Dukan, lost 1 1/2 st in about 8 weeks.
I found it very restrictive though & since regaining I have never managed to stick at it as I have zero energy, not something that I remember suffering with first time round.
I’m now following lo carb & on the boot camp thread. I’m not restricting fat but not loading either & im finding it very doable & im not suffering with lack of energy.
So far I’m 1 week in & 4 lbs down, it will be interesting to see if I continue losing now the initial water & super extra lbs have gone!!

Trippedupagain · 31/05/2019 14:31

Readyforsunshine sounds as if you are doing well! I'm trying to make the most of this first week or two as I know I'm very motivated at the moment so likely to stick at it, but further down the line less likely to be so determined. It's doing it for several weeks / months that is so hard.

Poppy43 · 01/06/2019 09:39

Stayed the same this week, stepped on the scales this morning and I'm still 10st 4.
Im OK with that, given I lost self control over the bank holiday. I have not managed to get back into the swing until Wednesday.

I think it will be easier this coming week as kids back at school means I'm back in a routine.

Keep going everyone!

NeedsMotivation · 01/06/2019 09:51

2lbs down this week which I'm fairly happy with as a starter as I haven't been able to do any exercise but managed to keep the food on track.

Keep going everyone!

maglincey74 · 01/06/2019 11:23

Well done willow, maglincey & needsmotivation!

gettofuckthrees · 03/06/2019 08:53

So my salad and water holiday food plan isn't going exactly to plan.

Been indulging a bit on fizzy juice wine but have been eating lovely fresh salads every day. It has been incredibly warm so have been ingesting a continuous stream of ice lollies and sugary drinks.

Also what is it about a toastier in a different country that makes it taste so much better?! Madness!

On a serious note though I have seen so much body positivity out and about and truly appreciate that people can be happy in their own skin. People with more wobbly bits or bigger are absolutely radiating joy and confidence and it's refreshing to see.
Then you have the modelesque types who make me want to hide under my overpriced beach towel.

Riddleofthesands · 03/06/2019 10:56

I’ve lost 4 lbs! Delighted and encouraged to keep going. I always find the week my period arrives easiest to lose weight. I have been eating a lot of veg and low carbing.

How is everyone doing?

Saladforsantorini · 04/06/2019 14:13

I gained 2lbs making me 9 st 6lbs now. Starting weight 3 weeks ago was 9 st 10lbs so I’m not disheartened. The gain - my partner came back over the weekend after having been away for work for 3 weeks so we had date night ~ loads of Chinese food and then pudding. Followed by a kids birthday party the next day when I ate snacky bits. Feel back on it / motivated this week. Hoping I can shift the 2lbs this week as I think it’s probably mainly water from all the carbs!

Saladforsantorini · 04/06/2019 14:16

How is everyone else getting on??

Poppy43 · 04/06/2019 21:43

Back in the swing @saladforsantorini, how about you?
I've done another 2 days of fasting 16:8,
Cut right down on the milky coffees and putting everything into my fitness pal.
I will be happy if I achieve another pound loss this week.

dudsville · 05/06/2019 08:45

I had stine unplanned travel for work over the last 7 days which completely threw my plans out if the window. I gained 3 lbs. These emergency trips are rare so I should be able to get a better grip on things now. I've brought a healthy lunch in with me today tuna with lots of veg, and had fruit and black coffee for breakfast. The 3 lbs is annoying, but its called to mind a cartoon character reversing before running off at pace!

Skyejuly · 06/06/2019 13:54

Can I join?

boooey · 06/06/2019 23:37

My scales have been lying to me and I’m actually half a stone heavier then I thought I was. If I didn’t laugh I’d cry GrinShock

So looking at that stupid BMI calculator thingy I’m definitely overweight.

It doesn’t matter how much exercise I do, if I’m still eating my version of ‘normal’ the weight won’t shift.

Back on it tomorrow and trying to do better.
I just love food way too much! Maybe I’ll
Start going to bed at 7pm so I can’t eat in front of the tv .Blush

AimeeJMitchell · 07/06/2019 22:51

Hello, I’m new to mums net and the mummy thing. I had a baby 3 months ago and I’m looking to get back to my original size before I was pregnant. My starting weight is 11 stone but I’d ideally like to lose a stone maybe more. Does anyone have any tips of eating plans that they stick to and are good? Thank you! Smile

awesmum · 07/06/2019 23:53

Hey everyone.
Starting weight May 24th - 12st
Current weight June 7th - 11st 7lbs
Total Weight loss 7lbs

How's everyone else doing?

Shelly111 · 08/06/2019 23:46

I'm 87kg and just starting out. I want to be approx 83kg if not less. Anyone got any quick tips which will get me going? I rarely exercise, don't eat much sweets but I'm a big stickler for finishing leftovers. I seem to have lost my way and am not happy with my weight.

dudsville · 09/06/2019 11:32

I've lost the 3lbs I'd put on a week ago. Back at starting weight so not exactly celebrating. I've not been able to reduce my portion sizes yet but I've curbed some alcohol and have been meal planing my work lunches. They've been based on tons of veg and fish. Last week it was with small salad pots as a carb base. This week I'm going to try pearl barley instead.

The thing I learned this week that was sad is that I take in far more calories than I would have assumed in the amount of basmati rice I have. I LOVE the stuff and will happily finish whatever's been left over, at room temp with salt. I'm not good at calorie counting so just randomly googled some of my staples. I suppose I'm glad I did...

I'm glad summer's approaching. I've always had large portions but the content used to be healthier, like mammoth salads. I'm going to try to steer myself back to old habits because I do not think I have the will to reduce quantity, at least right now.
