Anyone up for losing a stone?

teneight · 24/05/2019 09:14

I am bursting out of all of my clothes, I have decided to lose the offending stone.

Just weighed myself and I'm 10'8.

I could probably do with losing 1.5 stones but I'm setting a goal of one stone which will get me back into my clothes.

Fancy joining me?

It's wierd isn't it because at 10st 8 I look really slim and if I was 9 stone, which I have once before, I look really really skinny/ill

I’ll join please. Have put on 2 stone over the last 5 years & would like to get back under 10st from a 158lb starting point.
I was down to 155 this morning, go on holiday 5 weeks today so hope to get off as much as possible by then. I am lo carbing, it’s then only way I’ve ever managed to lose any weight in the past.

Me too! I am 12st - I have lost 2st over the last 8 months but have put 1st back on. I would ideally like to loose 1.5 /2st taking me to 10st but I may be too tall. I go to the gym 2/3 times a week and walk. My body shape has improved I have lost a lot of my tummy.
My down fall is not eating all day at work so stuffing my face when I get home. Also mad for chocolate.

I would like to too.
I'm currently 11 stone 7 pounds.
Heaviest I've ever been and just under 5 foot 4 inches.
A stone would feel amazing.
Seriously lack motivation and with 3 kids, a workaholic husband and working 4 days I'm always shattered.
I know I'd feel so much better if I lost weight.

I’m in. 1 stone off would be amazing.

I am 10.9 at the moment and should really be about 9.7. 9stone is goals but hey ho.

It usually takes me a 1lb a week when I am losing weight by calorie counting. How quickly do you all plan to lose?

@lovemeorleaveme I guess it depends on your height. I'm only 5'3 and the extra weight really shows.

@PersonaNonGarter I would like to lose 2lb a week. I would love to lose the weight quickly but I'm being realistic and going for the steady approach.

Welcome newbies and good luck, thanks for joining me.

I’m 5ft3 but teeny built I have child like wrists and ankles so the weight just sits on my bum and hips mostly. I also have fibromyalgia which makes me very tired and unmotivated. I comfort eat chocolate in not supposed to as I’m supposed to be vegan I’m good all day then raid the kids chocolate at night.

Weighed in at 12 stone today so half a stone down so far in 5 weeks. I’m 5 foot 8.

Ideally I’d like to be losing a bit faster and hoping I will going forwards as I seem to have the binging under control and I’ve started running BUT if I try too hard I get obsessive and then I end up overeating so I have to baby myself a bit.

11 stone is my normal weight but I’d like to get back to 10 which I was years and years ago and that was the only time I felt truly happy with my body.

I’m just under 5’4 too but not petite build. I also suffer with fibromyalgia, although touch wood I seem to have things under control just now.
Fibro has made it very hard for me as I get a level of fitness & feel a bit toned then have a flare & I'm back where I started. Eating well helps me I know but when I’m in a flare with zero energy I reach for the carbs & alcohol, hence 2 stone in 5 years. I’m sure you have similar issues kitty?

Well done forever. I'm sure many of us here would be thrilled with that rate of loss. I personally would be quite chuffed if I managed to stop making my losses in negative figures Grin

@Loulou0207 I am struggling with motivation too but none of my clothes fit and I feel terrible carrying the extra weight. I only started yesterday and it was so nice waking up this morning knowing that I had actually made a start with dieting.

I’m good with Saturday weigh ins.
My day has gotten off to a good start, went for a 5km run which almost finished me off.

After next week I’m working 9-5 for the summer instead of my usual shifts and I find it much easier to eat well when I’m keeping normal hours so really need to make sure these are habits by the time I go back to shifts!

Hi team! So I've read the thread now. Seems like a good mix of people coming from different bases and with varied complications/barriers to this weight loss. Hopefully we can all support and motivate each other.

I am 5"4 and at last weigh in was 76kg. So 11st 13.5lbs. So basically 12st 😂.

I'm away on holiday this week to the sunshine. Absolutely disgraced with the way I fit into my summer clothes but I just need to style it out and do something about it (Can't afford any new wardrobe unfortunately). I will be eating lots of salads and trying to stay away from crisps/wine!!

My biggest dietary problem is alcohol and takeaways. Cutting out both will show financial gain as well so looking forward to that!
Mentally I struggle with motivation. If I don't see quick results I tend to lose the will and end up going for a KFC or the like.

Best of luck everyone, will update to let you know how salad and water is going on my holidays Grin

@gettofuckthrees I hope that you enjoy your holiday. I am very envious Grin

Good luck with the salad and water.

I would like to join. My starting weight is 10st 2lbs and I'd like to get down to 9st. My biggest downfall is fizzy drinks. I'm also supposed to be starting on epilepsy medication so I'm hoping that doesn't make me pile the weight on.

I'll join! 10st 11 today. I've lost 1st in a reasonably quick timescale already using a combination of MFP and 16/8 but seem to have stalled a bit since slipping with the 16/8.

I'm horrified at my weight gain. I'm 5'7 and even after babies 1 and 2 was only just over 9st. After my third I seem to have lost all portion control and piled on the pounds. Couldn't believe it when I saw I was approaching 12st.

I'm pretty active which has helped with the first stone coming off quickly I think. To help with the second I want to cut down on drinking (another vice along with gluttony!) I'm aiming to only have alcohol on a Friday night instead of three nights each week. Also aiming for 16/8 again rather than three smaller meals per day as it does seem to work for me...

Good luck to all!

Oh and I would eventually like to be 9st 3 again but for now a stone off would be amazing and all by clothes would fit again :-)

@Poppy43 gin and slimline tonic, or gin/vodka with any Coke Zero/ 7up Zero type mix. I'm hoping to stick to gin and slim while I'm away, lucky for me it's one of my favourite drinks anyway! Good luck!

As well as MFP I have just started using the Drink Aware app which I hope will shame me into not overdoing it (in terms of both units and the calories they contain!)

You can set goals for number of drink free days and max. units in any one session etc. I am aiming for 5 drink free days each week (I like wine on a Friday night and sometimes a cherry brandy before bed on a Saturday!) Until very recently was having wine three nights a week though which needs to stop!

My aim with booze is to stick to 2 glasses of wine on a Friday night, maybe with one small G&T too, and a max. of one unit of spirits as a Saturday nightcap. And nothing else at all. I think this is quite do-able and is within the weekly units limit. I know the Friday night is probably still approaching a "binge" but this is a real reduction for me and can only help with calories too!

Using MFP to log my food intake has definitely hugely helped me with portion control. I genuinely think I had lost all sense of what a normal portion size looked like. I've never calorie counted before but it certainly has been an education into managing my meal sizes and what my body actually needs (instead of what it tells me it wants!) I seem to be somebody who needs accountability to an app of some kind :-D It does seem to be working so far though!
