Rules are: be kind, no judging, have a sense of humour, weigh on Wednesday mornings... and no training with Amanda Grin

@YouBoggleMyMind @recklessgran @MrsMummyBx @emilyjeff and others! Here's a brand new spanking thread.

New starting weight: 14st exactly.

Morning all - feeling better at last as got a call back from the doc and he was really lovely actually. The upshot is that he has prescribed Levothyroxine at last!! Also, some Vitamin D. ampoules that you take one a week for 6 weeks as he said my level was so low that the over the counter stuff I was taking is no good considering the low level. Hoping I will start to lose weight properly soon as well as being in less bone/muscle pain. We shall see. In the meantime my weight this morning was 13st 5.5lbs. Eeek. On the way up again. I'm giving myself a bit of slack for today as I really feel a bit fragile and then it's back on the wagon tomorrow with a vengeance.
@Emily a mini bag of chocolate buttons is about 87 cals if you fancy a bit of chocolate. I think there's about 14 buttons which is enough to make you think you've had a proper treat. It's really odd but I never ate anything sweet until I started this dieting lark, now I find I like a sweet treat after dinner.
@Tins you sound as though your head is in a good place for your studying - it's a stressful time of year. DD3 [assistant head] rang to
say that they've got OFSTED in - Sats week as well. She wanted to give me the heads up as understandably she'll not be in touch for the next couple of days. No mummy call for her tonight!
Hope everyone is O.K. and getting out in the sunshine.

reckless are you just doing this through your GP or has your GP already referred you to an endocrinologist? My experience is that my GP was useless with thyroid and I see a Harley Street consultant now. Would defo recommend you get a referral to endo in the NHS (or if you can bear to travel to a teaching hospital, even better). Luckily I have private medical insurance with work as I couldn’t afford private otherwise!! Do you know what your results are and have you been told the range for TSH and T4? I can check the chart I have for what is normal and not if that helps and you don’t already have that info? My consultants opinion is that if you’re under active - he likes his patients at the higher end of ‘normal’ to be functioning well. Feel free to PM me with any questions if you want as I’ve been through all this circus xx

Ps reckless I’m at UCLH in London for bubba no2 and under Endo there as well who are excellent - to make sure the Levo is working to its best they advise everyone to take Levo on an empty stomach in the morning and wait 30 mins before eating anything. If you take calcium and iron supplements, wait 4 hours before taking them as that can interfere with absorption of Levo so it doesn’t work as well. I thought that was interesting and told my mum who is also underactive and the GP never told her any of that info. Just thought it might help!

Thank you @MrsMummy my TSH is 7.9 [?too high] and my free T4 is 9.4 [? too low]. I'm going to see how things go and am starting on 50mcgms which I know is very low. I will have another blood test in 6 weeks and dose will be increased if need be. I'm just happy that at last something is being done - I definitely feel as though I need some new batteries or something! DD2 and darling little DGD 18months were here today - usually come on Tuesdays but delayed on account of us going to DD5's last night for the lovely Greek dinner . I have eaten all kinds of rubbish today including chips and a bar of caramac out of DH's chocolate box. Ofh well being super good from tomorrow. Don't worry @Tinsel I think you are working too hard!

@MrsMummy do you think that the G.P. knows what he's doing I imagined that this could be sorted by G.P. but would happily pay to see endo if I'm not happy with how things are going. It all sounds quite complicated and definitely not an exact science!

TinselAndKnickers · 16/05/2019 01:01

Hope you get it sorted!

I've decided that when my exams are over I'm going to try and get a uni placement but not pressure myself - finally going to take the plunge and start my own business doing what I love!! Purchased a domain name Smile it won't make much money but I'll love doing it and I'm really excited for some reasonGrin

@Tinsel - go for it that is so exciting and you can definitely do it. There's nothing quite like doing a job you love. Believe it or not I started my own business when DD4 and DD5 were 14 months and newborn and my goodness - from little acorns..... it has at least allowed us to educate the DD's to a high level which we couldn't have dreamed of before with so many of them, so yes, definitely get on with your beautiful cakes - my only advice is be confident enough not to sell yourself short and charge properly - NOT mates rates that's how you will make money. You have a very valuable skill tinsel whatever you think! [Sorry for lecture!]
I've tied myself back on the wagon - back to one sensible meal a day for the time being.

Haha 5 months of great chat and for me, no weight loss 😂

Have a great time @YouBoggle - sounds really lovely and you definitely deserve the break. I have started my medication and was interested to read that a low vitamin D level could also hamper weight loss along with the shot thyroid. I know it will take a while but hoping I can start losing again now. They reckon about half the population are vitamin D deficient so mentioning here in case anyone thinks they ought to be taking D3 -it's quite cheap to buy. I've been good today and had cottage pie and veggies for dinner - not too large a portion as used a small plate and DGC were here as normal so that was their requested meal. They had choc ices and cake afterwards but obviously I passed on that bit. Feeling postive and determined again but dangerous day tomorrow - Friday lunch in the pub with g/f. Ooops.

Morning ladies!
Boggle Center parcs sounds fab, tho Ive never actually been. Have a great time :)
Tinsel Your job sounds a lot more interesting than mine! Shock
This wkend we are caravanning so should be doing plenty of walking...just got to try and keep an eye on my eating!!
Feel like this week has been ok, ate too much yesterday as my day off and I just seem to graze continually but other than that I've been pretty good. Was hoping to do parkrun tomorrow too but I've injured my knee now so probably not the best idea to run on it.
Hope everyone has a good weekend x

recklessgran · 17/05/2019 18:53

Oooh @emily have a great time -would love a little stay in a caravan! Lots of walking will earn you some little treats surely? I've been to the pub and had bacon and egg sandwich and a JD and coke. Will be having a small tuna salad shortly. I've been told by G.P. to eat either oily fish or an egg each day and to sit outside for half an hour in the mornings with bare arms. Well, I'll manage the egg and fish today but sitting outside with bare arms - no way - I've just put the heating on! @Tinsel, yes I would take D3 especially if you know you're deficient it might help with how you're feeling in general and if it is true that it helps weight loss then that would be a bonus. DD3's birthday today so I've just done the mummy call and she is off out now for food and drinks with friends. No particular plans for the weekend but I'm sure we'll come up with something.

Evening all. Been sort of good today - I ate a banana earlier as I was starving. I really want to try to stick to the one meal a day thing at least until my holiday but struggled today for some reason. Hoping if I can manage it I will maximise potential weight loss. Feeling positive anyway now that my health problems seem to have been addressed. I'm having ham and egg salad tonight. Will indulge in a mini bag of chocolate buttons afterwards by way of a little treat.

Evening ladies, hope you've all had a good weekend.
Caravan was good, weather not the best but managed plenty of walking, quite a lot of eating but the majority of it was healthy-ish. Back to the no snack rule tomorrow anyway!
Oh and I bought a bike whilst we were away. Nosing on gumtree and found a barely used one near where we were staying so it was a done deal! Hoping to go biking with DH/ DS2 some evenings, been to the next village and back so far this evening x

Had a fairly quiet weekend so I've been planning a family weekend away to the New Forest for DD2's 40th. Hoping to get a pony hack for everyone as DD2 had a horse when she was younger and is still a very keen rider. The rest of us not so much, so I have volunteered myself to babysit the DGC's whilst everyone who fancies it goes for a ride. Just got to find a hotel that is reasonably priced and can accommodate all of us as we're quite a big tribe. Otherwise I've stuck to my ham and cheese salad today - still trying to keep away from the bread and chips and their carby friends biscuits and cake.
@emily sounds like you've had a lovely weekend and I'm jealous of your bike ride because it sounds so lovely - sadly I think I'd probably fall off these days if I had the nerve to try it. My balance is definitely not what it was once upon a time.Feeling upbeat none the less and hope everyone is doing O.K.

@YouBoggle so glad you had a lovely time at CP with your friends. It's so good for the soul and more important than this weight loss lark which let's face it is turning into a marathon. I actually don't care about how long it takes and think the support and lack of judgment here is lovely.I am really valuing the friendship on this thread. Thanks all. x
Don't worry @Tinsel you are definitely more active than me! I spend
most of the day sitting at my desk and drive everywhere. I'm quite ashamed of that to be honest, just not ashamed enough to do much about it. Lately I am trying to get up and do things in between assignments instead of mindlessly reading online newspapers and MN. Just ate some toast and shouldn't have.
