16:8 - who's up for it?

kaytee87 · 25/04/2019 11:25

I had some success on the 16:8 diet before but my weight has crept up again (being investigated for under active thyroid).

Basically you fast for 16 hours of the day and only eat in 8 of them.

My chosen hours will likely be eating between 10am-6pm possibly 11am-7pm at the weekend.

I am also going to do a 20 minute exercise video in the morning 3-4 times a week and keep up doing my 10-15k steps per day.

I will make weigh in day Fridays. Will post my stats in the morning after I've weighed.

Does anyone want to join?

Hi can I join you please? Iv got 5st to lose so quite a bit, my plan for losing it is pretty much the same as what your planning to do except Im planning to join the gym once iv worked on my fitness a bit at home.

jimmychoux · 26/04/2019 07:53

Can I join too?

I weighed myself this morning and decided that I am going to start today. I like the idea of a Friday weigh in.

I need to lose about 2 stone. Today's weight is 10st 13lbs

kaytee87 · 26/04/2019 09:08

Hello @Faith468 @jimmychoux

Today's weight 12st5lbs Shock I have 2 stone to lose but I'd be happy with a stone at the moment.

I'm easing myself into it by cutting out all snacks / unhealthy food this weekend then will start 16:8 from Monday.

Oh god I almost don't want to post my starting weight lol, I'm 16st 5Blush.
Iv got a 5 month old baby so can blame some of that on the fact that I "allowed" myself a few months after the birth to not worry about my weight as I was trying to lose weight while ttc, however that has basically turned into spending my mat leave sitting about eating loads of junk food.
Iv got a holiday coming up in July so I would like to be under 15st by then, hopefully closer to 14st 🤞.
Im aiming for about 1400 calories a day and only between 10am - 6pm and any time I feel like snacking I'm going to get up and do 5 mins exercise as well as walk at least 10k steps and a 20 min workout each day (or at least 5days a week)

jimmychoux · 26/04/2019 10:07

Morning, I will be aiming for 1200 calories between 10-6.

I am a massive comfort eater and consume so many calories from eating chocolate, well anything sweet really.

It is time for me to stop making excuses and actually sort myself out once and for all. I am starting right now!

I do have a Fitbit so I will go see if I can find it. It will be lurking at the bottom of a drawer somewhere, hopefully with the charger.

homeBird9 · 26/04/2019 10:13

Count me in. So fed up of trying to shift the same 10lb for the last year or so.

jimmychoux · 26/04/2019 10:47

Hi homeBird9, you are so lucky only having 10lbs to lose.

Good luck.

kaytee87 · 26/04/2019 11:04

Hi @homeBird9

So far today have had a small bowl of porridge, didn't have time to pack my lunch so will try to buy something relatively healthy. 3483 steps so far, will have a wee walk at lunchtime.
Going back for more blood tests on Monday, I'm really hoping they'll agree to a trial of Levothyroxine. We're ttc as well and I suspect thyroid issues aren't helping Sad

I’m doing this, are at 7 am after early morning boot camp so can’t eat after 3pm which will be hard! But I’m 12 st 1lb and was 10st 2lb about 18 months ago. Passed off with myself, also doing sugar free (apart from my morning coffee)

Villanellesproudmum · 26/04/2019 11:09

Also pissed off with myself Grin

Villanellesproudmum · 26/04/2019 11:11

Don’t forget to drink 2 litres of water a day.

homeBird9 · 26/04/2019 11:27

Thanks @jimmychoux its the extra weight l've been carrying since my son was born over 2 yrs ago. Want to fit into my old summer clothes that taunt me from the back of my wardrobe Sad

Hope you get the outcome you want @kaytee87. My dad just started taking that medication yesterday for his underactive thyroid.

BlindTipsy · 26/04/2019 11:47

I'd love to join. Have started this week. Find the days that I work really easy as I am busy until about 3pm so just eat when I get home but non- work days are much harder! (Ie. today!)

I lost 4 stone last year but have plateaued since January really and still have another couple to go so hopefully this will kick start me again.

jimmychoux · 26/04/2019 12:25

BlindTipsy you lost 4 stone, that is fantastic. Well done.

Hopefully you can keep us all on track.

NicoAndTheNiners · 26/04/2019 12:36

Me! I did it last year and lost 2 stone which I've kept off but I'd like to lose another.

jimmychoux · 26/04/2019 20:05

Hope you all had a good day. I am feeling really hungry but glad that I have got through the first day.

Diemme · 26/04/2019 21:53

Think I'll join you. How do you tend to organise your meals? I was thinking I'll see if I can do 2 meals a day, say lunch at 12 and dinner at 6. Around 700 cals each.

Crazzzycat · 26/04/2019 23:23

Can I join too? I’ve been dieting since the start of January and lost 2 stone in the first three months, but have come to an almost complete standstill in April.

I’m still almost a stone overweight, so am keeping my fingers crossed that 16:8 can help shift some of that.

Crazzzycat · 28/04/2019 00:54

Just finished my first day and found it surprisingly hard. I thought that after dieting for four months I’d be used to feeling hungry, but I’ve been feeling starving all day 😖

Anyway, my starting weight this morning was 82.1 kg. Fingers crossed for quick results!

jimmychoux · 28/04/2019 07:02

@crazzzycat yesterday was my second day and I felt really hungry all day too. I hope that it sorts itself out as I really hate feeling hungry. I have not slept very well either and today I have a headache. Am going to try and drink more water today.

How is everyone doing?

Shutityoutart · 28/04/2019 07:08

I’m re- starting tomorrow. I’ve put on a lot of weight over Easter! I’m going to do 11-7 I think. Can I ask what everyone does when they start their eating phase? I’m thinking of having a piece of fruit at 11, and then lunch at 12.30? Another bit of fruit mid afternoon and then dinner about 6?
Does that sound about right ?

IndieWally · 28/04/2019 07:13

I’m going to join! Currently 10st6lb, started 16:8 since last Wed, along with taking Apple cider vinegar in the morning and night. Was 10st10lb before starting! So quick results already! Although I did change up diet, restricting sugar intake, oat porridge in the morning 10am, baked potato at lunch and a piece of protein (chicken/pork/fish) with salad for dinner before 6pm. It’s easier during weekday with being in work and fixed break times, gets harder during weekends when the kitchen cupboards are so accessible...

Aim is to get back down to 9st 7lb, which I was 1.5yrs ago, kind of let myself lose after wedding and did not care. So a stone to lose!

Worlds0kayestmum · 28/04/2019 07:16

Hi can I join too please? I started Friday, I have a ridiculous amount to lose but hoping to make some steady losses. I can't keep going the way I am, I'm killing myself

Blossom28 · 28/04/2019 07:19

I’m now 15 st, have actually put on weight since my baby was born! 😭 just not sure how to stop myself eating biscuits 😩

jimmychoux · 28/04/2019 07:27

Hello newcomers, glad that you have joined.

I'm going to do online food shops for a bit as I certainly can't trust myself to go into a supermarket. Too much temptation for sure and I definitely can not trust myself to make sensible food choices at the moment.

Good luck today, lets all be good on the food front.
