16:8 - who's up for it?

kaytee87 · 25/04/2019 11:25

I had some success on the 16:8 diet before but my weight has crept up again (being investigated for under active thyroid).

Basically you fast for 16 hours of the day and only eat in 8 of them.

My chosen hours will likely be eating between 10am-6pm possibly 11am-7pm at the weekend.

I am also going to do a 20 minute exercise video in the morning 3-4 times a week and keep up doing my 10-15k steps per day.

I will make weigh in day Fridays. Will post my stats in the morning after I've weighed.

Does anyone want to join?

I've been doing more reading about 16:8 and apparently the two most important things to make it sustainable is to drink plenty of water and get enough sleep. Which makes sense I suppose.

I'm sure I had enough calories today as I had a cheese toastie at 11am Grin it was a belated birthday present to myself with my birthday money, I was out and about with the DC and was hungry by then. I did stop myself from polishing off the remains of their pizza though!

Good points @kaytee87 about the sleep and the water, I do drink plenty but could still up it. Sleep: I have two toddlers, never going to get enough!! And poor little DS1 has been poorly this evening so who knows how much I'll get!

jimmychoux · 02/05/2019 08:49

@RubySlippers77 sorry to hear your ds is poorly. Hope he is feeling better today and that you managed to get some sleep.

I had stomach ache for a few hours last night after eating all that ice cream. I'm going to be good today.

Good luck today everyone

kaytee87 · 02/05/2019 10:07

Feeling good this morning, feel like I'm actually having to make myself think about food whereas before an hour after breakfast I'd be hungry again.

Going to break my fast with an apple and handful of pistachios. Don't feel hungry but don't want to risk more headaches x

Can I join in please?

I've got about 4 stone to lose & have just started a bit of weight training. I've been doing it every other day for the last 10 days so really early days but quite enjoying it so far.

Haven't lost anything yet though.

Funnily enough I couldn't face breakfast today so haven't eaten since about 7.30pm last night so will hold on til 12noon & use 12-8pm as my window to eat.

I take my DC to various clubs & often don't get back til 7pm so eat late a lot of the time which I know isn't great.

kaytee87 · 02/05/2019 11:18

Hello @JurassicGirl - expect a headache tomorrow and possibly the next day but after that you'll feel great Smile

Yes, I'll join. I've been defeated by my inner pig lately and have at least 2 stone to lose. I'm doing paleo, but have had success before with 16:8 as the evenings are trouble time for me.

Probably 11 am to 7 pm is a good window for me

kaytee87 · 02/05/2019 18:38

Hey @RussellSprout the more, the more, the merrier.

Is your first day tomorrow?

I had my dinner at 5.45, that's me until tomorrow. I think I will try to fast until 11am tomorrow as I'm getting my nails done at 4.30 so will be home later than usual for dinner.

kaytee87 · 02/05/2019 20:26

Just had a glass of water to curb the craving for junk.

Tomorrow I think I'll have;

11am 2 boiled eggs, 2 oatcakes with cheese & an apple.

6.30pm Maybe some nice tortellini & garlic bread.

I've kind of already started doing paleo/super blends.. I started eating at 11 today and finished just recently so that's more of a 14:10 day but it's a start... as I get into things I will narrow that window down!

Combining it with Jason Vale's super blend me which is shakes you make yourself from fruit, veg and nut milks. Very nutritious, having 3 of those a day plus one healthy meal. No carbs or sugar.

kaytee87 · 03/05/2019 07:06

jimmychoux · 03/05/2019 07:54

@kaytee87 well done losing 3lbs that's fab.

It is my weigh too, am just about to get showered so I will post in a bit.

kaytee87 · 03/05/2019 08:03

@jimmychoux weigh before shower! I seem to absorb water in the shower and come out heavier 😂

OP posts:
jimmychoux · 03/05/2019 08:06

@kaytee87 funny you should say that. I always weigh half a pound more after a shower. I thought it was because my hair is wet.

I always weigh before.

Crazzzycat · 03/05/2019 09:30

My weekly weigh in stats:

Starting weight 82.1
Today’s weight 81.2

So that’s a loss of 0.9kg, or two pounds. I’m very happy with that Smile

jimmychoux · 03/05/2019 09:30

I can't believe this, I have checked three times.

I've lost 7lbs since last Friday.

kaytee87 · 03/05/2019 09:41

Well done @Crazzzycat and @jimmychoux !!

I'm hungry just now but holding off til 11 so having a cup of tea instead.

jimmychoux · 03/05/2019 10:31

@kaytee87 thanks!

kaytee87 · 03/05/2019 11:18

Just had an egg & ham salad with a wrap bread and hummus for brunch. It was lovely!

OP posts:
jimmychoux · 03/05/2019 15:34

@kaytee87 I had egg salad too.

I'm ok eating lots of salad during the summer but it's not a choice I would make in the winter.

kaytee87 · 03/05/2019 18:03

This is my first weekend 18:6 as I only really started on Monday. Just about to have dinner then nothing til brunch at 11am tomorrow. We're having dinner out tomorrow but it will be early as we're out with DS.

Crazzzycat · 04/05/2019 13:42

How’s everyone doing this weekend?

I went for a long walk today before my fast ended. I felt like I was walking on clouds, and not in a good way 😂 But I made it to the end, which is what really matters.

jimmychoux · 04/05/2019 15:20

Pretty boring day here, I've made myself do all the horrible jobs that I have been putting off. I've cleaned the goldfish out, well actually they are my daughters fish which she got for her 10th birthday. She is nearly twenty now and has been moved out for two years but will not take the fish with her. I bloody hate cleaning them. How much longer can they live? 🐠🐠🐠

RubySlippers77 · 04/05/2019 23:12

jimmy my friend bought what looked like a really cool fish tank - loathed it and ended up giving the fish away - she said if she didn't scrub it out at least once a week it got appallingly grubby!

I'm managing to fast for 14/15 hours rather than making it to 16, but to be fair I'm usually up by 6am with DS1 (he's still ill), so waiting till 11am is quite tricky.....

Made carrot & beetroot cake this evening to snack on when we go out tomorrow, planning a long dog walk. It burned. Mary Berry I am not Sad

jimmychoux · 05/05/2019 06:49

Looks like a lovely day here. Yesterday we had rain, wind, sun and lots of hail and rainbows all in one day.

What's everyone doing today?

I'm off to town later in search of some new sandals.

Have a good day.
