16:8 - who's up for it?

kaytee87 · 25/04/2019 11:25

I had some success on the 16:8 diet before but my weight has crept up again (being investigated for under active thyroid).

Basically you fast for 16 hours of the day and only eat in 8 of them.

My chosen hours will likely be eating between 10am-6pm possibly 11am-7pm at the weekend.

I am also going to do a 20 minute exercise video in the morning 3-4 times a week and keep up doing my 10-15k steps per day.

I will make weigh in day Fridays. Will post my stats in the morning after I've weighed.

Does anyone want to join?

I've been doing this for 4 weeks now and gone from 9st 5lb to 8st 10lb, so 9lb loss in 4 weeks! Really chuffed and so many people have been commenting on my weight loss lately. I haven't even found it particularly difficult and now naturally seem to gravitate to 18:6/19:5. I only drink water in my fasting window, nothing else, and I have more energy etc than I have had in years.

kaytee87 · 29/04/2019 21:09

@TheBrilloPad well done, that's amazing.

I've only had about 1000/1100 calories today so I'm pretty hungry but I'll survive.

Have packed my food for work tomorrow; a wrap, an apple, a low calorie chocolate mousse & some strawberries.

My mil cooks us dinner on a Tuesday and there's always a dessert too 🙈

Not hungry at all this morning. I do have a bit of a headache though but could be tiredness .

Morning

I have a massive headache. It came on yesterday afternoon and won't shift. Slept really badly so today I feel hung over and everything feels like such hard work.

The joys of sugar withdrawal.

kaytee87 · 30/04/2019 11:13

@jimmychoux how are you feeling now?
I've had my apple and strawberries, waiting til 12 to have my wrap.

jimmychoux · 30/04/2019 11:46

@kaytee87 thanks for asking, my headache is still there. I'm going to have some lunch in a bit, hopefully that will help.

kaytee87 · 30/04/2019 12:16

I seem to remember from day 3 onwards of 16:8 the headaches and tired feeling go away.
Just had my lunch. I'm defo having an early night tonight, I'm so tired.

OP posts:
WeakAsIAm · 30/04/2019 12:39

Ye day 2, seems worse than day 1. Headache still hanging around, just stares longingly at someone else's cup of tea Grin

Just another 1 1/2 hours TIL lunch, it's at the side of me smelling delicious Confused

kaytee87 · 30/04/2019 13:34

Christ, I have a migraine. My headache reached fever pitch and I've just spent the last 15 minutes being sick. Still sitting on the floor in the loos as I'm still nauseous.
Will need to get a taxi home but don't know when i'll be fit to move.

jimmychoux · 30/04/2019 13:44

@kaytee87 you poor thing, sounds awful. Hope you feel better soon. Do you usually suffer from migraines?

Crazzzycat · 30/04/2019 14:45

@kaytee87 that sounds pretty bad. Hope you’ll feel better soon.

I’m on day four today and things are getting a lot easier. I’m actually quite enjoying this way of eating.

Previously, I really struggled to spread my 1400 kcal over three measly meals and some shitty snacks. I was avoiding healthy foods that are a bit more calorific (beans, dairy, nuts) and would turn down things like an extra handful of berries because those would push me over my daily calorie allowance.

After four months of dieting, that way of eating started to feel a bit unsustainable. But with 16:8 I can have those healthy things and still come in under target Smile

Anyway, that’s the end of my sales pitch...😂

kaytee87 · 30/04/2019 15:59

@jimmychoux @Crazzzycat thanks.
I've been lying in bed for about an hour and a half, slightly better but still headachey and tired. I get migraines a few times a year usually. It's annoying because I took paracetamol at lunch time so couldn't have migraleave when I got home. I can have it at 5pm if I need it.

Hope you are feeling better now @kaytee87?

Disappointing birthday for me today, have downloaded the Zero app (thanks swampy for the recommendation) and intend to start 16:8 tomorrow. I'm worried that I'll feel a bit hungry in the evenings, as I do tend to do lots of steps/ housework once the DC have finally gone to bed, hopefully I'll be able to hold out. I am desperate to start losing the pounds!!

jimmychoux · 01/05/2019 06:09

@RubySlippers77 I missed that it was your birthday yesterday, happy belated birthday 🌺🌻🌸

@kaytee87 how are you feeling today, I hope that you are feeling better.

Good luck today everyone.

kaytee87 · 01/05/2019 08:20

@RubySlippers77 happy birthday for yesterday!

Feel better today thankfully, just a bit tired (I always am though!)

I couldn't face eating my dinner until a bit later last night so my fasting period will be from 8pm-10am only 14 hours instead of 16. Considering I threw up my entire lunch yesterday I don't feel too bad. Don't want to risk another migraine today!

My stomach looks less bloated today 👍🏻

@kaytee87 glad that you are feeling better today I feel really tired today.

I'm having a mooch around the shops this morning. What's everyone else up to?

kaytee87 · 01/05/2019 08:27

@jimmychoux sounds nice. I'm off with my toddler today so we're going to museum & soft play with our friends as the weather is crap.
Having a cup of tea just now and have packed myself 2 boiled eggs for 10am and a wrap for a bit later (I'm so imaginative but I don't really like sandwiches and you can eat a wrap one handed)
Baked potato tonight, haven't decided on filling yet x

RubySlippers77 · 01/05/2019 09:09

Thank you for the birthday wishes Smile

It's a bit grey here today but not actually raining, I have two energetic toddlers to entertain so we'll probably get the bus somewhere and walk back. Apparently going on the bus is very exciting 🤷‍♀️

Weighed in today at 13st 10lb - that's over a stone more than I weighed after giving birth Blush 49lb to lose... planning to do 11am - 7pm eating today.

I don't know about everyone else but my weight has also given me a lot of social anxiety; I'm a SAHM and don't get to go out often, when I do I'm worried that people will comment on how big I am now. I'm planning to join a couple of exercise classes to try and improve my confidence and help with the weight loss. Fingers crossed...!

Worlds0kayestmum · 01/05/2019 09:16

I'm with you, Ruby on the social anxiety. I'm also a SAHM in a new area and I feel so self conscious all the time. I hate going to toddler groups because I feel like everybody judges me on my size.
I've got my DS's birthday on Saturday and my DD's birthday on Monday. Lots of picnics, cake and McDonald's planned. I'm going to really struggle

walnutwhip · 01/05/2019 10:09

Can I please join? I have been doing 16:8 to stop me eating loads of crap in the evenings and it was working, I seem to be letting old habits creep in so this will help me stay on it. I don’t have lots of weight to lose but I can feel buttons getting tighter and with menopause fast approaching I need to get sorted. Will check weight on Friday.

kaytee87 · 01/05/2019 17:26

@walnutwhip hey 👋

My DH is really bad for buying cakes for us to eat in the evening. I wish he'd stop it. I know I don't have to eat them but it's quite hard not to!

Just about to have dinner then that's me until tomorrow at 10.

I actually quite energetic just now even though I've been out since 9.15 with DS, just home 20 minutes ago.

jimmychoux · 01/05/2019 18:14

I ate 850 calories worth of ice cream. I got it in before 6oclock though Grin

WeakAsIAm · 01/05/2019 18:23

Day 3, headache much improved found lasting TIL lunch much easier today.
At work tomorrow and Friday so should be easier to to manage the willpower.
Keep going everyone

Crazzzycat · 01/05/2019 20:54

Day 5 and I’m starting to wonder if I’m actually eating enough! I find it quite a challenge to fit 1400 kcal into an 8 hour eating window. That’s a first for me 😂

kaytee87 · 01/05/2019 21:08

@Crazzzycat I know what you mean. I had about 1400 today but that's only because I had a hot chocolate when out. Mon&Tue I'm lucky if I had 1000-1200.
