Hi

I need to stop snacking and eating crap! So I'm drawing a line and starting fresh from Monday. I'm planning to eat healthily / low carb and am trialling Beachbody On Demand .... hoping this one will hook me as the workouts are different each day rather than the same for a week. Anyone want to join me and hold me accountable?

I still have about 3 stones to loose and would like to be out of my 16s and squeezing into a 12 by the time I go on holiday in mid July. First goal is to loose 2lbs which should put me in overweight rather than obese. Then I'd like to get to 11 something.... currently 12.9.3.

My problem is I lack motivation, am tired and lazy really..... I need to make a new habit tho.

Welcome @DoraleeRhodes you've got a great goal ahead! Nothing like your wedding dress to spur you on!

@mrsgandy hope your family member is recovering. @Howlongtillbedtime his recipes are supposed to be fab, can't help with veggie tho, I love meat and am struggling to no go over my protein macro!

New week now everyone, back to it! I've done the lower body day of 21 day fix, which is day 3 of the program. Hoping I've stretched enough that I can do my run day tomorrow. The workouts, even though they are classed as beginner, are so tough! You can tell that it will definitely improve the shape tho! Off to work now then have a friend coming over tonight for a catch up and a few drinks. Going to stick to spirits to keep the carbs down with diet lemonade I think. Not too many though as I'm not ready for the keto hangover and I have work tomorrow lol

howlongtilbedtime BBC Good Food do a great recipe for Lentil Ragu, which can be used in a lasagne, shepherd's pie and many other recipes. It makes tonnes too, so good for batch cooking.
I've had a much better day today, managed to keep my water intake up and have eaten well, staying under my calories. I didn't manage my 10k steps due to a crazy busy day at work, dragged DD out for a walk after dinner so hit 8,500. That'll have to do for today!

mrsgandy · 24/04/2019 06:58

Pontious I have read that a good 30 min walk is more effective than achieving the 10k steps per day and also just make sure you get up and move every hour . I'm not sure how true this is but it sounds sensible to me .

swimmingdory · 24/04/2019 09:07

Morning everyone.... notice a few of us have gone quiet? How are you getting on out there?

@howlongtillbedtime 8.5k steps is not easy so well done! My step count is missing the school run this week!

So i went out last night and had an indian tandoori mixed grill and sag paneer which was lovely. Couple of vodka / diet lemonade. I did notice how much more quickly the alcohol affected me without the carbs though, and also how badly i slept!

Up this morning and done w2r2 of c25k which was ok actually, i'm consciously slowing it down a little at the moment to try and help with the breathing, so jogging at about 6.8km/h but that's enough for me.

Lunch today is a sundried tomato and mozzerella salad - realising i need to try and have a non meat option for lunch to allow me to stay within my protein macros for dinner. Dinner will either be a homemade butter chicken or indian takeout again as i'm at a friends house tonight for a few drinks again! Am tempted to drive tbh, can't believe how badly i slept last night. See how i feel later.

Anyway, keep going ladies - summer and holidays and all other things that we need to be slimmer for are calling, and we need to push it now to get there x

Thanks for the motivation post Dory . I made a chicken curry so will have with wholegrain rice .

I'm super tired from hospital visit last night and work was so draining today . Fit to sleep

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 24/04/2019 20:11

My body has rebelled massively today. Only 17 mins of training. Poor show.

pontiouspilates · 24/04/2019 20:11

That is interesting, thanks Mrs Gandy I probably get a 30 min walk 5 days a week, so will push for achieving this daily. A pretty good food day today, but I do need to work on portion control. I'm fed up with starting over, so thanks all for helping me to keep on keeping on!

mrsgandy · 24/04/2019 22:21

Any exercise better than none ladies .
I checked my tracker at 7 pm
And only had 5500 steps , so said I take my own advice and do 30 mins exercise. Happy to report got to 11k steps . Food was ok too , getting there

Purplechanges · 25/04/2019 11:47

I haven't gone quiet, I have gone missing again totally Sad

I just can't seem to get my head into gear at all!

I had my pill check up yesterday and spent ages talking to the nurse about my weight. She was truly lovely - got no lecture, she is overweight herself. The pill I am on actually causes increased hunger and weight gain but it's the only one I can take right now due to migraines and a few other factors. DH is booked in for the snip next month so the end is in sight for this awful pill I am on. She said there is no rush, decide on a plan and work on things slowly. Think that's half my problem - I want results like yesterday!!

At the risk of outing myself, I turn 40 a month today ...... I need at least 10lb off. So I start AGAIN today. Have bought a nice new notebook to log all food and exercise (I have a bullet journal so this will go alongside it).

DH has also surprised me with an early birthday weekend away this weekend. So gonna fast today (500 cals) then aim for low carb options whilst away.

My aim is to 5:2 - fasts on Monday's and Thursdays. Low carb, lots of salad and try to stick to 16:8 on my normal days.

I will catch up on the thread with my next cuppa, I just wanted to jump back in before I chickened out and hid the thread.

Weight this morning 13st 5.5 so back to where I was a week and a half ago Sad

mrsgandy · 25/04/2019 14:25

Purple you have a lot going on . You are still trying so that is good . Good news about the pill . My dh would never have entertained the snip ( selfish lol ) . I'm on the pill still but for my period really rather than anything else .
I'm hormonal today feeling really weepy . I'm off work so heading out now for walk and shopping .
Hope it perks me up a bit .
I know very little about fast days etc but don't let yourself go hungry as you might overeat the next day . Make sure your head is in gear to tackle fasting . But I don't know much about it as I say .

Hope everyone else is well

Purplechanges · 25/04/2019 17:25

Thanks @mrsgandy there is a lot going on that's for sure!

Fast day is going ok though (on 5:2 you get approx 500 cals a day for 2 days of the week). Once you get into it properly your appetite reduces anyway and I feel I eat better when doing it properly as you don't want to ruin your work from the fast day!

I have about 250 cals left for tea after having a salad for lunch. So having a lemon pepper fish portion with salad and plenty of water as getting a little bit of a headache.

Been out clothes shopping and bought a gorgeous floral jump suit to wear for dinner tomorrow night, I will also wear it for my 40 birthday party. That has perked me up as I bought it a size smaller - it currently looks fine but will look better once I drop the 10lb I am aiming for!

Hope your walk perked you up a little!

swimmingdory · 25/04/2019 19:08

Evening all! Glad you're all still pushing through with me! It's lovely to have people walking the same journey. I went to a friends last night had a few glasses of gin and some chocolate pretzels / chocolate orange. I've managed to stay on track today with a small Freddo but I'm really feeling an urge for an Easter egg 🙈 weigh in is tomorrow so hopefully that will go well. Also had a rest day exercise wise today. So back to it tomorrow with the last run of week 2 and then my kids will be back tomorrow bedtime 😁 in the mean time I'm binge watching line of duty which I'm really enjoying.

Keep on going everyone x we're all doing well xxx

OP posts:
mrsgandy · 25/04/2019 19:37

Dory I love line of duty . It's brillaint .
Sounds like you had a good child free time .
Purple my walk didn't end up as planned due to weather but walked around the shops . However I'm on a mission so of to finish my steps for the day now .
Daughter is really encouraging me with the food . We had no cake or crap when out .
I chanced buying some chinos for work in a size 16 so will try them on now before I exercise . Can bring them back if they don't fit . The jumpsuit sounds lovely .

Dory I'm glad I am here . I don't do good with diets per se . I get depressed on them tbh. But I'm finding I'm mainly happy just eating my meals and keeping them pretty healthy. I still have not weighed but I feel better in myself so I'll take that a benefit so far

Purplechanges · 25/04/2019 20:17

550 cals today and I am hiding in the bath, out of the way of all the Easter eggs lying around! Have got a pile of washing to put away after the bath then to pack bags for tomorrow, kids are off on an adventure in the caravan with grandparents whilst we have our night away. So plenty to keep me quiet until bedtime and will try have an earlyish night too!

mrsgandy · 25/04/2019 20:44

Sounds great purple . I can't believe the chinos fit me and after a few more days of exercise they be just perfect although very wearable now . Super pleased . Thank god I have some clothes for work now .

Off to do more chores and movement . That's real motivator for me now

swimmingdory · 26/04/2019 05:37

Well done on sticking to the fast day calories @mrsgandy and well done on the trousers @Purplechanges ultimately we wouldn't care what we weighed if we looked and felt good so your shape changing is the start of you reaching your goal, well done. M

WI for me today, -2.9lbs and my bmi is how overweight not obese 👏🏻🎉 how great is that! So I'm hoping that might refocus me away from the Easter egg I'm wanting lol. I have definitely lost size these last two weeks, mainly carb bloat, but still smaller. Will get up shortly to do my last run of week 2 🏃🏻‍♀️. Keep going everyone xxx

Well done on the loss @swimmingdory that's fantastic!

Well we arrived at a spa hotel somewhere by the sea, it's truly awful Wink spent an hour chilling out by the pool, in the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Now relaxing in a bath in a gorgeous luxury bathroom before getting ready to go down for dinner.

Have eaten very little today as quite simply not hungry even after the fast yesterday! I even shared the complimentary chocolates that were left by the coffee stash, in our room, with DH.

Looking forward to dinner though and to getting all glammed up in the jumpsuit Grin

How's everyone getting on today?

mrsgandy · 26/04/2019 23:04

Dory that's a super loss . Well done , purple yes your hotel sounds awful lol ,

I had been having horrible indigestion. I know all diet related . Hoping it should be improving by now . I can't eat before bed I know that for a fact so really no food after 7 . Tomorrow night hard as going out for dinner at 7 .

I'm knowing all the trigger foods now too so needs be ultra careful

swimmingdory · 27/04/2019 07:04

Lovely @Purplechanges hope you enjoy your night away! @mrsgandy what sort of food are you off for tonight?

I was naughty yesterday. Had a bit of chocolate cake, a couple of sweets and then a few large gin washed down the Easter egg id been craving 🙈 made me feel absolutely crap tho. Also didn't exercise yesterday. So shortly I'm going to get up and do my run then a day of chilling and enjoying my kids being home is ahead! Sticking to plan today x

Dory I had the other night a bowl of special k and milk and a slice of toast before bed . I actually thought I was going to die . Mostly bad food triggers it so chocolate crisps chips etc etc but bananas and yoghurt can too , I'm going to be really careful of what I eat and see if I can sort it . As I have mentioned I hate dieting after 30 years of failing at it and being miserable but from health perspective I'm changing what I can eat . I'm wondering is low carb prob better way to go . I never want to feel that ill again .

Pinkvici22 · 27/04/2019 07:46

Some great losses 👏👏👏

I had the post-Easter with in...CONFESSION TIME: put on 1lb. I’m ok with that and know I can get back to it now. I was worried if I’d put on 3/4 I’d be really disheartened and spiral into emotional eating but I feel ok about this.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

swimmingdory · 27/04/2019 08:54

Yes it triggers for me too @mrsgandy so I know what you mean! Low can has definitely been helping me to be less hungry and I've been surprised actually at how the calories have worked out for low cab high fat... Surprising how many there are in carbs. Once you're through the first week I think it gets easier anyway!

Done my w2🏃🏻‍♀️3 which was great actually! So back to it today going to have homemade burger stuffed with babybel tonight I think

OP posts:
mrsgandy · 27/04/2019 11:44

That sounds absolutely delicious Dory .
I adore cheese . Going out for lunch and dinner now so need be careful lol but there will be no snacking in between

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 27/04/2019 19:18

Still no weight loss for little me. I havent been doing weights long enough to say its muscle.

swimmingdory · 28/04/2019 10:34

@TaliZorahVasNormandy your body will hold on to water if you start exercising though remember that!

How did you get on at lunch @mrsgandy

I did ok yesterday. An omelette and then burgers as planned for tea. Tonight I'm going for a broccoli and pepper stuffed chicken that I keep seeing on Facebook and looks lush. At the softplay this morning to run some energy off the littlest one then a chilled afternoon ready for school to start back tomorrow!

Struggling to keep my head in the game a bit at the moment ... need to keep myself focussed that holiday is only 11 weeks now. I need a new summer wardrobe regardless but would be much happier buying it in the next size down.

Although speaking of wardrobes where do you all find decent clothes? With exception of jeans / T-shirt's and jumpers I can never find anything that I like.... it's either too young (as in crop tops) or too old looking.
