Carrying on from the March thread (but all new joiners welcome), a fresh slate for April!

Please join me - all plans welcome (calorie counters, weight watchers, citizens of slimming world, intermittent fasters, eating-only-blue-food eaters). Here to support each other and aim to lose 7 pounds, or 3 kgs.

My starting weight for April is 65.1 pounds and getting to 62-ish or just under by the end of the month would be great.

Who is in?

@sazzle that sounds really rough. People can be so thoughtless. I suggest you try and forget about it and focus on what you are doing and achieving. Flowers

Viva: same goal weight as me. I’m 5ft2

OhTheRoses · 29/04/2019 11:35

Teenagers eh Cricket. Fingers crossed at this end that dd is coming through the other side after mh issues from 15 to 19, cutting, small overdoses, restricting food, etc. Underlying it all was ADHD/ADD finally diagnosed at 17 (it cost thousands as there was zero support on the NHS) and now that's successfully medicated she seems much better and is nearing the end of her first year at uni having had to repeat y12 and had a consolidating gap year after A'Levels.

Life takes its toll and after 4 years of sleepless nights due to worry and consequently too much wine and too many carbs I feel ready to take myself in hand.

WW weigh in tonight and on a/l this week so hope to get some walking in.

Flowers for you VivaFrida, cricketmum and everyone else who is, or has been going through stress and other mental health issues. It sucks, but it’s inspiring to see how you’re all taking back control of your lives (and expanding waistlines!)

My story isn’t too different. I had a mental breakdown last year caused by a decade of extreme stress. I was off work for six months and diagnosed with general anxiety disorder, which is funny because I used to be absolutely fearless. Now pretty much everything stresses me out.

A year on, I’m still recovering from my breakdown, while also supporting my autistic husband and two autistic kids. So there’s still a fair amount of stress in my life, and unfortunately not much in the way of emotional support. I’m glad I’ve finally taken control of sorting out my weight issues though. It’s a big step in the right direction Smile

Sazzle & viva, sending you both lots of positive vibes! FlowersFlowers💞

My husband ended up bringing us out for sushi on Saturday and we did the BBQ on Sunday. I live in New Orleans and it is always hot but our weather has been really nice this last week. My kids are back at school today. Yay! Today is my weight in day

High: 5'6 1/2
Starting weight: 155.6
Today's weight: 150.6
-5lbs
1st goal: getting to 145
Final goal: 135

I've only lost a lb this week, but I'm so thankful for that 1 lb gone!

shoelace88 · 29/04/2019 14:19

Sending lots of love and positive vibes to all of y'all! 🥰

sazzle27 · 29/04/2019 19:24

Thanks to all who commented...
She's always been the same, saw it growing up aimed at my mum, and as i got older, me too.
Mum always acted more emotionally, more like I did yesterday, i generally bat it back at her..
Just feel gutted as I work with people who have dementia intermittently so know what they're like and that as she deteriorates is that it'll just get worse.

No chance the message will get through - no recollection by the time we left, and the dementia has really affected the empathy part of her emotions as well..

Well done Adventure - sounds sustainable and a real life change rather than a fad diet!
They definitely do Vida - she has never had any qualms just saying it as she sees it either 😂

Thanks all... I am feeling better about it all today.. realistically she will have no recollection of it all, and indeed when we left the goodbyes were as normal.
I guess my main concern was for the kids, but even after dropping them off the goodbyes there were as normal so all in all hopefully all good!

Nursing a hot water bottle on the sofa today, tv on, and wondering what to have for dinner if anything, as I indulged myself at lunch!

Well done to everyone on their positive mental attitudes!

OhTheRoses · 29/04/2019 21:46

3.5lb down again Grin. 7lb in two weeks. Must keep it up x

cricketmum84 · 29/04/2019 22:46

@Crazzzycat yes yes!! I was always the fearless go getter of the family. I'm known for my ability to step in and sort out other people messes, I support people through hard times, I have an answer for everything.

And then anxiety just absolutely floored me. I find it very difficult to work, visit shopping centres, busy pubs and restaurants. Something like a meal out is a huge challenge for me. I sit and think to myself how did this happen to ME of all people?!

cricketmum84 · 29/04/2019 22:59

@OhTheRoses that's amazing!! Well done :)

cricketmum84 · 29/04/2019 23:04

@OhTheRoses god teens are hard.

My son is 14, he's had MH issues for a couple of years now, he's a school refuser, struggles with communication, is very very destructive especially when he is frustrated, he's run away a couple of times, he's taken an overdose, been hospitalised. It's been a hard hard couple of years on all of us. CAMHS and school are going down the route of ASD diagnosis which is the first thing that's made sense in a long tjme.

Now DD (10) is under investigation for chronic stomach pain, she's being tested for IBD, crohns, coeliac etc. Personally think it's stress induced stomach migraine but tbh it's just one more thing to worry about.

Sounds like your DD has really been through the wringer. I really hope that you are coming out the other side with her now. It's so heartbreaking when you can't just pick them up and cuddle them better. Xx

VivaFrida · 30/04/2019 10:54

Crazzzycat & cricketmum84 - I know exactly what you both mean about the anxiety! I had to stop reading the news because they were causing me a spin of panic!

& well done OhTheRoses!!

so... final stats for the month?

OP posts:
VivaFrida · 30/04/2019 13:45

Hi! Sorry I disappeared I lost my signal and then was busy with work! I was 65.1 at the beginning of the month and 60 kg exactly this morning. I lost 5.1kg in April. It has been a good month for me! I hope to get to (or close to) my previous happy weight in May!

It has been a difficult month, with Easter and the challenges that come with it so give yourself a big pat on the back: we have done this and got to the finishing line!!!

OP posts:
Crazzzycat · 30/04/2019 14:19

@cricketmum84 , it’s weird right?

I know so many people who’ve had mild to moderate anxiety all their lives. I, on the other hand, went from not even knowing what anxiety was, to barely being able to leave the house in the space of less than 3 months. How is that even possible?!

I do feel that sorting out my diet, and doing regular exercise is helping me a lot though. I hope it brings you the same benefits 🤗

Right, stats for April:

  • starting weight 83.5kg, waist 35.25 inches
  • today’s weight 81.5kg, waist 34.5 inches

So that’s a 2 kg loss for this month. Bearing in mind that the scales still showed a gain of 0.5 kg last week, I’m not complaining!

Now where do I sign up for the May challenge...?

shoelace88 · 30/04/2019 14:52

Yay! I'm excited to be apart of the beginning of May! We can do it! I lost 5lbs this month and I'm ready to lose more. Congratulations to everyone who made it through April!

Breakfast : Go lean cereal
Lunch: TBD
Dinner: salad with chicken
Snack: popcorn & fruit
Workout: fitness blender on YouTube

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

VivaFrida · 30/04/2019 15:46

New thread for May:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight_loss_chat/3573611-Half-a-stone-off-or-3kg-in-May

We can do this!!

OP posts:
edwardson · 30/04/2019 21:28

Final stats for me:

Starting 10 st 3
Ending 9 st 8.5
Loss in April 8.5 pounds :) delighted with this.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I know it's been a tough month for many of us and it's been lovely to be able to share in the challenges and successes. Bring on next month!

VivaFrida · 01/05/2019 05:40

edwardson: awesome! What is your final target? Bring on May!!

OP posts:
spugzbunny · 01/05/2019 08:31

Well I actually did it! That's a first! I'm feeling really proud of myself!

Height: 5ft2 (no change 😂)
Started: 14st
Current: 13.68
Loss: 7lbs
Goal: 10st

I struggled the first half of the month but I've started intermittent fasting Mon-Fri which has really helped. I basically only eat lunch and dinner. This has helped massively as I'm very much an all or nothing kind of person and I've been able to have large meals and then just not snack in between, in the evening or eat breakfast. I've never been a massive eater of breakfast any way! at the weekend I relax a bit to allow for some beers or something in the evening.

Onwards and downwards! Hopefully another half a stone in May!

edwardson · 01/05/2019 08:56

Thanks @VivaFrida! I think the goal will be 9st 4. Really ideally I'd love to go to 8st 13 but I'll see how I feel (and how my cycling performance changes) at 9 st 4. It's all feeling very possible after a good month and the support of all you ladies :)

VivaFrida · 01/05/2019 10:15

spugzbunny - congrats!!! It's great that you have found what works for you.

edwardson - amazing you are so close now! I wish you all the best for May - you have done really well!!

Se you all on the May thread, fit buddies Smile

Final stats! (Totally late to the party)

Small gain before D-Day, as predicted as I'm now back to actually eating food again this week 😂

Start weight: 94.2kg
Current weight: 90.5
Total loss in March: 1.7kg
Total loss in April: 2kg

(Was on target, but think a hefty plate of mac and cheese last night pushed me over this morning......Doh!! 😖😖😖)

Chocolatepeanuts · 01/05/2019 11:25

Im later sazzle! Weighed in this morning at 12st 8lb so i have exactly half a stone off yay!! Had more off actually but easter got in the way. Roll on May!! Well done everyone!
