Half a stone off in April (3kgs for the 'metrix')

Carrying on from the March thread (but all new joiners welcome), a fresh slate for April!

Please join me - all plans welcome (calorie counters, weight watchers, citizens of slimming world, intermittent fasters, eating-only-blue-food eaters). Here to support each other and aim to lose 7 pounds, or 3 kgs.

My starting weight for April is 65.1 pounds and getting to 62-ish or just under by the end of the month would be great.

Who is in?

Nice work on the jeans and weight loss victories! Star

I went out with DP last night; had a bottle of wine and a three course meal, although I tried to make good choices! Definitely expected to weigh more today; but the scales are saying exactly the same Shock Taking that as a small win!

cricketmum84 · 20/04/2019 01:17

So I had a photo taken with my all time favourite rugby league player today. Compared it to a photo from before I started ww at Christmas. I am so so proud of how far I have come!! I look back at the first photo and wonder how the hell I got myself that fat!! God I know I'm still a long way away but I've come so far from that photo.

Have attached for you ;)

Is it too late to join? Obviously I'm not going to lose 3kg by the end of April but I'm starting a weight loss campaign today!

VivaFrida · 20/04/2019 09:06

Unless a miracle happens tonight I am fast heading towards my first STS! Oh well I should take it philosophically (stoically to be exact):

  1. I lost weight every week since February 27 (my starting date)
  2. I have lost 7.5kg in 8 weeks, which is quite a big chunk of my over carriage
  3. My body is changing - I can see it every day, I see it on how it reacts to workouts, the energy I have, how clothes fit, etc. So, in a way, the scales don't matter.

BUT I am 700 gr from getting my 3kg gold star for the month... and I so much want it!! I am not planning to go crazy with the food today and tomorrow but stay on plan and next week I am going to attack those pesky last 700 gr like it's warfare! My name is not Frida it's STEELY DETERMINATION (hide the chocolate, please.)

I hope everyone is doing well and for those who are celebrating... Happy Easter Weekend!!

Blimey, that cricket guy is easy on the eye! Awesome work cricket mum, you look amazing.

I'm losing!! Despite my mad and random regime which includes peanut butter sandwiches, I'm down a stone since Christmas. I eat the exact same thing every day, so results are guaranteed.

I factor in one blow out per week, to accommodate life.

It's the BEST FUN EVER trying on clothes I used to look like a burst sausage in and finding they're flattering! I'm buying jeans in charity shops to tide me over til I hit my target, got a stunning pair of black asos skinnies for a fiver.

Hang about, what is my target? I'm not sure. I thought it would be ten stone but as I approach it, I think I might try for a smaller number.

GULP.

MorrisZapp · 20/04/2019 09:14

Stay the same ain't no shame! I took my watch off for my last weigh in, its a bit heavy :)

cricketmum84 · 20/04/2019 09:53

Aw thanks guys! And yes @MorrisZapp he is bloody gorgeous! I was like a teenage girl when I spotted him, had a huge crush for years! He's called Jamie Peacock if anyone wants to look him up, played for Leeds Rhinos for years.

VivaFrida · 20/04/2019 10:23

Hey MorrisZapp with that awesome attitude the sky is the limit for you!! You eat the same every day? Shock! Wow! respect to you!! What's your menu? I eat a lot of similar things, I tent to have porridge and fruit for breakfast, omelette for lunch (or tuna salad) and chicken/white fish/lean beef with lots of vegetables and some carbs for dinner. Snacks are normally zero percent yogurts or fruit.

Good tip about taking your watch off!! That's where I have been going wrong!! Loss of 30gr guaranteed for me next time.

I once took my wedding rings off at slimming world Cos I was half a pound off the next award 😂

shoelace88 · 20/04/2019 15:17

Congrats cricket, you look amazing and such a big difference!
Welcome Llareggub 🖐

My scale is moving again! Yay, its enough for me to make it through Easter without cheating too bad! I'm excited for Monday, maybe I'll be back in the 140s.

I'm trying to concentrate on my water intake today. We have a crawfish boil to go to today for my niece's birthday. I will not have cake. Lol

Hi all, I’m either going to be the same this week or up even ☹️. It’s not been a bad week but I guess I have relaxed a bit. Weigh in on Monday then crack on with the next week...

Llareggub · 20/04/2019 19:32

Thank you! I am concentrating on maintaining a calorie deficit and trying to move around more. Today, I wandered around the city centre getting my steps up, power walked around the marina and sea front and swam 500m.

I definitely don't drink enough! Your weight loss stories are inspiring me.

VivaFrida · 21/04/2019 07:07

Happy Easter!

Flash communication for me: EASTER MIRACLE! I have lost exactly 1kg this week!! I was 62.8 on Sunday and I am 61.8 now. Weight lost so far since the beginning (27/2) = 8.5kg. Weight lost this month so far = 3.3kg. StarStarStarStarStar

So what are you up today? I am going on a early morning hike with my DH getting some steps on before da day of Easter egg hunts and cooking and gardening and generally family business. I intend to stay on plan and have treats with moderation.

Have a Happy Day all!

OP posts:
sazzle27 · 21/04/2019 10:54

Today? Kids have woken us up, done their egg hunt and are for the moment playing nicely downstairs...
I'm trying to get the get up and go momentum to tidy our room and sort the washing...
Between myself and DP we need to work out what to do for dinner for the kids, whilst visiting some family, en route to dropping them back at their mums......

And sometime after that fill up the car with stuff for a nice early morning bootsale tomorrow.. 😴 😴 😴

At some point, also try to stay on plan - had a little blow out yesterday at the beach with the kids, and when we got home, so back on track today!
Determined to hit the 3kg this month!

VivaFrida · 21/04/2019 11:42

Have a great day sazzle! We ended up walking nearly 10 miles in 3 hours. Came back and literally inhaled my breakfast of porridge, yogurt and fruit. Having a little tea break after the Easter egg hunt for the kids (they are teens but they still like It. We just do more difficult clues now they are older!) and before attacking the wild jungle also known as my front garden.

Hello everyone! Just back from my holiday and straight back on the scales! I gained between 2 - 3 lbs which I am fine with as I didn't deprive myself at all, had alcohol every day and wasn't as active as I normally am, though there was some beautiful swimming and lots of walking / sightseeing.

My aim for the month is just to lose and today the aim is 2 meals, totalling c800 calories. We are away again for the early bank holiday in May and I have told DH I am not going to have any alcohol until my view is the Sierra Nevada!

Slinky I am in awe of you losing weight whilst on holiday!! Amazing work Grin

And before even catching up with the thread I took my wedding rings off to weigh this morning!!

GottaGetUp · 22/04/2019 09:11

68.3kg this morning. Down from 70.3kg since 4/4 but up from 67.6kg last week. Which I was expecting but is still a bummer.

I’m going to join the gym tomorrow and get some tips on what I can do with an injured heel. Probably have to stick to weights and the machines, but better than nothing.

Onwards and downwards! 😁

cricketmum84 · 22/04/2019 10:56

Well I've put a pound on over the bank holiday weekend. Quite disappointed because apart from a lager in the beer garden I've been really good. Haven't even had chocolate.

Small family bbq last night which would normally be a diet breaker but I put on some veggie options and only used 10 ww points on the whole thing!

VivaFrida · 22/04/2019 13:12

Morning all!

cricketmum84, when did you weigh last? maybe it's a weird fluctuation thing? well done on staying en pointe, I finished the day yesterday 4 points over - had planned it and will take that!

And same to you GottaGetUp - do you think the gain came from you being injured and not being able to exercise? People say that exercise increases appetite, but I found it regulates my appetite as it distresses me and takes my 'head hunger' away. I hope you find some exercises you like at the gym - if the injury is caused by impact on the heel, what about the elliptical cross trainer?

Hello adventure! Welcome back and no alcohol until the Sierra Nevada is on view is a beautiful goal. 2-3 pounds is nothing, you'll shed those in no time!

Had to got up super early to exercise this am as was expecting a delivery of new fridge but was a bit of a disappointment as the delivery person said it would not pass from the kitchen door and refused to come through the garage because there were 2 steps. Sad So now I have ordered a slimmer fridge that is coming tomorrow! It's going to be £170 more but then it's a snazzier fridge with ice maker & ice crusher so I console myself thinking it's all for the best & everything will work ok in the end even if today we are eating leftovers like there's no tomorrow as we are left with the baby spare fridge. Totally first world problems, I know.

Anyway the positive thing is that I have done my morning exercise, that I am taking these small challenges in my stride and even when faced by chips and pitta bread pizza for the boys' lunch I am totally not budging and having leftovers veg soup I made instead! Not because I have to but because I want to - eating well it's not a chore, it's a pleasure and it's my choice!

It's comforting to hear that others have also gained a little bit over Easter! I am weighing daily and have decided to take the weekly trend from the Fitbit rather than worrying too much about the daily weight which has been helpful to avoid catastrophising. I am now about 6 lbs down from the beginning of the month despite the recent blips so I'm happy with that! Excited for sunshine as I always find my appetite is a little smaller in the sun. Onward and (down)wards to the end of the month :)

GottaGetUp · 22/04/2019 17:12

VivaFrida That's great to be in a place where it's a positive choice instead of a battle.

I've been injured for a couple of months. I twanged my achilles stepping off a treadmill and the whole area complains now. Impact is certainly part of it, so I'll give the elliptical whatsit a go, but it's also any kind of movement through the ankle, so stretching is painful when I dorsiflex the foot but also pushing off as I step is bad too. Walking is more or less ok, but any more effort like up hill or running and it quickly becomes painful. So I'm going to focus on anything I can do without stepping or squatting. Upper body and abs and then any machines that work leg muscles without involving the ankle. I'm going on Wednesday now as they didn't have any induction appointments for tomorrow.

I have definitely had the effect of exercise just making me eat more, but also when I've got into a routine with it, it becomes more natural to eat better to get the right fuel in, and also generally have more energy so not relying on sugar and crap to get through the day.

Good luck with the snazzy fridge tomorrow! Hope the nice weather holds long enough to appreciate the ice maker Smile

VivaFrida · 22/04/2019 17:43

GottaGetUp I am so sorry to hear about your injury... sounds like it's quite limiting for you, probably also swimming is out (or I remember you saying you hated swimming?) Have you seen a physio or feel it's worth investing in it?

Regarding my attitude, I am truly amazed by it myself: in February I was comfort eating and living, frankly, in despair/anxiety/fear/stress for all a series of circumstances. I was filling up my largest dresses and thought enough is enough. I started therapy. I started eating well and exercising and now I feel so so much better. Two months have made such a difference, I wish I had not lost all of 2018 feeling how I did, but maybe there was a reason for it. Anyway I am not entirely sure where this new zen attitude is coming from but I am riding its wave hoping it will last!!

Thank you also for the kind words about the fridge!! We are totally excited about it have been watching videos if it online, the totally sad people we are!

edwardson & all, it is absolutely to be expected to gain at Easter, especially if you have family dos - I think the reason I have ben able to control food intake is that we have spent this long weekend amongst us because we had much house/garden sorting out to do because it's so so hard to eat sensibly at social gatherings! But it's the beauty of life so all of you who had a whale of a time with your family/friends do not regret it!!

GottaGetUp · 22/04/2019 17:51

Hehe, we are on the verge of getting a new kitchen, so have been getting excited about fridges ourselves Grin

I don't hate swimming, though it's not my favourite. I should probably give it a go and see if it works. Annoyingly, I am actually a student podiatrist, and should be able to sort my own feet out! But it just keeps getting worse, so my latest plan is to do what exercise I can, and ignore it until it goes away...
