Half a stone off in April (3kgs for the 'metrix')

Carrying on from the March thread (but all new joiners welcome), a fresh slate for April!

Please join me - all plans welcome (calorie counters, weight watchers, citizens of slimming world, intermittent fasters, eating-only-blue-food eaters). Here to support each other and aim to lose 7 pounds, or 3 kgs.

My starting weight for April is 65.1 pounds and getting to 62-ish or just under by the end of the month would be great.

Who is in?

Morning all!

viva congrats on the dress, and singapore your holiday sounds amazing!

I have a conundrum. I don't really seem to be losing any weight. I'm down from 86kg at the start of March, to 83.5 today... barely anything. I'm already going to the gym three times a week and restricting calories to 1,200 a day with barely any carbs.

I had the snow problem before but was a bit heartbroken too, and ended up eating as little as possible and exercise lots... not at all a good idea, but I lost 2 stone in a very short amount of time.

I told myself I'd never do it again and bought myself a turbo trainer and a bike so I could exercise inside. I got in the habit of cycling once a day and used that to maintain my weight; which worked fantastically, but then I had to flee domestic violence and now have neither a bike or a turbo trainer... and the same issues with getting outside or moving much when I'm on long days at work. They were happy for me to spend an hour on a bike if I kept an eye on things; but they aren't happy with me leaving to go for a run.

I've got an event in the middle of May that I really need to look and feel better for. Any thoughts?

LittleSF · 17/04/2019 14:13

Is it too late to join this April group? I'm doing WW online so a bit of support from a group like yourselves would be great. I weighed in yesterday at 13st and my aim is to get cholesterol down by 2pts and lose 2 stone in four months. I hate being this size, especially heading into the warmer months.

I had a Marie Kondo moment after Christmas and decided that if I didn't lose the weight this year then the size 12 stuff is going to the charity shop. I'm currently 14/16 but would need to lose 2st to get into my nicer clothes and look good and feel comfy in them. I managed to lose a stone and a half since Christmas but put a half a stone back on. Back on path since yesterday - not easy with Easter coming up. Very nice boss left an Easter Egg on my desk today but haven't cracked (pardon the pun) yet.

We're just back from a trip away and looking at the photos is awful. I don't want to feel that way about my summer holiday too.

shoelace88 · 17/04/2019 15:56

Good morning everyone! I'm chaperoning my oldest daughter's field trip today at the zoo, so lots of walking

Crazzzycat · 17/04/2019 17:47

AnchorDownDeepBreath have you been trying to loose weight for a while? Or did you start in March?

I’ve hit a bit of a weight loss plateau myself, which I’m putting down to being on a diet for almost four months now. I am still holding out hope it’s a temporary thing. Interestingly enough, I’ve stalled on the exact same weight as you!

It doesn’t sound like there is much more that you can realistically do, so may be it’s just a case of seeing whether things improve for you too?

Crazzzycat · 17/04/2019 17:52

And welcome LittleSF, I’m sure it’s not too late to join this thread!

You sound very motivated, which is at least half the battle. Do you have a plan for how to get to your goal?

sazzle27 · 17/04/2019 18:10

Awful day today... have the kids over for half term this week and ended up in Wetherspoons...

Yes, plenty of food healthy choices available, but did I choose any of those? Of course not Hmm

Oh well... back on it tomorrow!

shoelace88 · 18/04/2019 02:25

Sazzle, don't beat yourself up for it, happens to all of us. I have such a bad sweet tooth, cookies are just too hard for me to resist at times. 💖

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 18/04/2019 07:43

Morning all. I wish people would stop giving me chocolate treats 😬😬

I'm doing well at passing some of them on!

SingaporeSlinky · 18/04/2019 09:09

Morning all, weighed in yesterday after my holiday, fully expecting to have put on around 4 or 5 lbs. Amazingly, I lost another 4lbs instead. I really don’t understand how as I didn’t think I’d eaten particularly well, especially having 2 croissants with loads of butter and jam most mornings. Maybe it was because I still wasn’t snacking, just having 3 meals. I do feel like I’ve put on, I don’t feel quite as toned as before, but if I can now get back into good habits again, I’m hoping to keep it off.
I weighed myself again this morning, in case it was a blip and another pound off, so currently at 9st 4lbs, from my starting weight in January of 10st 10lbs

cricketmum84 · 18/04/2019 09:46

That's fantastic @SingaporeSlinky!

I always feel like I'm going to put a lot on while I'm on holiday as I eat and drink too much! But I am a lot more active on holiday and do loads of walking so it must cancel it out!

SingaporeSlinky · 18/04/2019 09:57

cricket yes, must have been running around after the kids every day instead of watching too much tv!

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 18/04/2019 10:21

Great work, SingaporeSlinky!

Crazzzycat Sorry that you're stuck in the same place! I have been minding my eating and going to the gym since about September with the aim of losing weight, but I didn't start properly calorie counting and weighing myself every day until March 2nd.

It may well just be a case of being more patient, but I hate not seeing much progress... And I have a feeling DP is planning something that I'd really like to look less of a mess for!

MyFitnessPal has got all stressed with me as with food eaten + exercise calories removed, I'm under 1,200 calories for the past three days. No sign of it on the scales though!

I really don't know what else to try. Due out for dinner with friends tonight, we're going somewhere where I can have fairly good pasta and I'll walk there and back, but I couldn't feel less like going. I've bailed the last two times though, so I have to really! Going to try and get out for a walk today at least.

VivaFrida · 18/04/2019 10:24

Welcome singapore and amazing about your weight loss on holiday!! What is your final goal weight? You must be near now!

Good on you on resisting chocolate treats funky, two days ago I used 12 points of my weekly allowance in sugar free chocolate and loved it! No more choc until the big day for me now. :(

sazzle - half term can be difficult to stay on track, especially if your kids are small!

Welcome littleSF, you are so right, it's not fun to be chubby in the summer!!

Right, what's happening in my world, I hear you ask! Well, it has been a slightly challenging week for me, my OH in annual leave to sort out a few things around the house, me still at work with a few days working from home and with the kids around my productivity has somehow dropped and, sod's law, I have a couple of writing commitments (I write non fiction) which are approaching their deadlines... on top of this I had a few days with lunches out so difficult to determine point age/calories/damage, and had, as I was saying, some sugar free chocolate 2 days ago....

So sneaky peek on scale shows that this week I am heading towards a (possible well deserved) STS but on the other hand I can see in the mirror that my body is changing! A few items of clothing which did not fit me anymore now fit again and my curved belly is slowly but surely flattening - within the realm of a geriatric mother of 2's tummy, but flatter than it used to be! I also feel HUGELY better within myself, so much that i had decided to discharge myself from therapy, my anxiety seems to be much more under control these days. So in a way if the scales do not budge does not matter.

Anyway, working only a couple of hours today because i have time off in lieu to take from last week's fieldwork, and soon taking the kids to the science and nat history museum, hoping to rake up some serious steppage there. Have a lovely day all!

Frida initially I had hoped for half a stone before holiday, and ended up losing just over a stone.
I never thought I’d realistically get under 10st, and if you’d told me I’d get down to 9st 4 I think I would have said I’d be extremely happy with that. The problem now is I still have a flabby tummy and don’t feel at an ideal weight yet. I think because I’m only 5’4” tall so I could probably lose another stone before I looked slim. I don’t know how realistic that is though!

VivaFrida · 18/04/2019 10:47

Quick stop press - with one foot out of the door but I have to write this I am wearing jeans I repeat I am wearing jeans!! My jeans fit me!! Ok, they are the largest pair i have but after wearing 'fat girl dresses' for over a year getting back in my jeans is ENORMOUS happy happy news!!

Great news Frida!

shoelace88 · 18/04/2019 13:29

That's awesome slinky & Viva! Great job!

I've been weighing myself like everyday, I'm trying to look at it for science. Lol Problem is, I'm super sore from workouts and I've gaineda little. 😥 I know it's just from water on my muscle but it's still disappointing. I'm seeing a difference with strength and that will do for now.
Breakfast: 2 eggs & avocado
Lunch: shrimp, chicken sausage & veggies
Dinner: baked chicken and asparagus
Workout: fitness blender

sazzle27 · 18/04/2019 15:41

Thanks shoelace.. definitely need to practice more self allowance.. just easier to forgive myself when there isn't a healthy option available!

Well done slinky! That's amazing for being on holiday! Perhaps the "whoosh" effect?

Viva* They're still primary school aged so definitely not easy Confused
Also well done on your non scale victory! It's so satisfying when you have tangible results like that!

sazzle27 · 18/04/2019 15:43

On a separate note, to anyone shopping in Primark, don't be disheartened when you aren't the same size in new clothes - I've had it on good authority that they have changed their sizes... I've jumped up two sizes whilst losing (admittedly only a small amount) weight ConfusedHmm

cricketmum84 · 18/04/2019 16:37

I feel like making the decision to go vegetarian has given me a much needed kick. Also kids are back at school this week so there's been less temptation in the way of share bags of popcorn and chocolate hanging about.

So far today I have had a pink grapefruit and some strawberries for lunch, a slice of home made crustless broccoli quiche (3 ww points) for lunch with salad, drunk 3 litres of water and 2 cups of earl grey with almond milk and I've made a big pan of chilli and a small portion of quorn mince and chickpea chilli for me! Will have mine with baked sweet potato and salad.

Also if you accidentally lick your fingers after taking skin of chicken you're still vegetarian right? Asking for a friend....

cricketmum84 · 18/04/2019 16:38

Sorry should have read grapefruit and strawberries for breakfast!!

ZsaZsaMc · 18/04/2019 18:12

Singapore we were the same starting weight and same height. I’ve now lost a stone but I don’t really look that different!

It’s so disheartening. I never thought I’d be under 10st but turns out you can’t tell anyway!

Think I need to look at exercises for the inner thighs and arms!!

SingaporeSlinky · 18/04/2019 19:15

ZsaZsa it’s hard isn’t it? People have said I look slimmer, and I was fairly confident wearing bikinis on holiday, instead of full costumes, but I think I still look on the bigger side, and definitely not toned. I really thought a stone or nearly 1.5 stone would make a massive difference. I don’t think I’d be able to maintain if I lost much more! I like food too much.

cricketmum84 · 19/04/2019 08:04

2lbs off for me this week :) that's 6lbs so far in April so should be on track for my half stone and hopefully a little extra!

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend everyone!

sazzle27 · 19/04/2019 10:22

Weigh day today!

Still same issues as last week ongoing.. however a loss has been achieved!

Start weight: 94.2kg
Current weight: 90.5kg
Total loss in March: 1.7kg

Total loss in April: 2kg

Nearly hit the proposed 3kg... just really for to up my game to make sure i keep losing before the end of the month.. Confused
