TheHoundsofLove · 12/03/2019 12:56

As our old thread was almost full, here's a shiny new thread.
If there are any lurkers about, please do come and join us - we are a friendly, relaxed bunch. Although, hopefully not too relaxed as we need to see results
Summer is just around the corner, so let's do this...!

OP posts:
PrivateCello · 12/03/2019 12:58

I come in bearing goodwill for all to keep losing and some teas & cakes as it’s cold and miserable today BrewCake
Thank you for the new thread Hounds, love the title!

Fiontar649 · 12/03/2019 13:09

I come bearing leftover pasta, in a stained-by-tomato-soup tupperware.

Thanks Hounds for the thread!

PrivateCello · 12/03/2019 13:19

Horrible weather like this the pasta will do just fine Grin
I can never get the tomato stains out of the tupperware!

WhenCanISleepAgain · 12/03/2019 14:57

Hello all! I’ve come down with a cold today so I come bearing a hot lemon drink Brew And I know all about tomato stains this week after DS dropped tomato pasta on the carpet

Thanks for the new thread Hounds.

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 12/03/2019 15:27

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. It really does mean an awful lot at a time when I’m feeling very low about myself. I just don’t get why some people are so cruel? Or how they don’t realise/care how hurtful the things they say are. I would be devastated if I made anyone feel this low Sad.

Fiontar - yes you could try tagging people in. It would be nice if anyone has fallen off the wagon to feel like they’re welcome back at any time Smile!

Cello - yay, big meet up! Although if things go to plan 2020 will have to be my year instead. Maybe I can be the fat friend who comes along and makes you all feel better???Grin

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 12/03/2019 15:28

Oh and Cello - good luck for your October goal! And well done for qualifying Smile.

PrivateCello · 12/03/2019 15:44

I have caught your cold When as I am also suddenly feeling very unwell and for me sadly that means plenty of carbs as the lemon drink does cut it Grin or maybe I am just a greedy gut Grin
Honestly Gruffalo I wouldn’t give it a second thought. Some people don’t think before they speak. I remember when I was pregnant with my second one, two of my colleagues were discussing how they don’t understand how women gain weight during pregnancy as a baby is just 7 pounds. The woman had never been pregnant before and the man’s partner hadn’t either. I remember sitting there feeling so low about myself as I am huge in pregnancy. Anyway his wife had a baby last year and she gained a huge amount and the woman is currently 6 months pregnant and has also gained a huge amount and keeps telling us how low she feels due to the weight gain. I just listen and give some encouragement. I would never think to pass comments. Bodies are all different and people do the best they can. Please don’t feel bad. The good news is you will lose the weight after the baby but this woman will always be cruel and that’s a hard life for her. And nah no chance you gonna be the fat friend Grin
Thanks Gruffalo, it’s a huge achievement for me and I am looking really forward to celebrate the day. I qualified last May but delayed the admission ceremony until this October as had lots going on. I actually sat my last exam in the morning with my hospital bag with me and went to the hospital in the afternoon to be admitted to the labour ward to have my daughter. I feel shamelessly proud of myself Blush

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 12/03/2019 16:29

Cello That is absolutely amazing. What a fantastic achievement! That is definitely something to feel proud about. Honestly, in the last few weeks of pregnancy the most I could do was roll off the sofa and waddle to the toilet Grin. I really hope October is a good event and you go along feeling good about yourself. You should feel so so proud Smile.

I’m so sorry you were made to feel awful at such a vulnerable time. I totally hear you about how every body is different and everyone reacts differently to pregnancy. I was also someone who gained A LOT of weight (5 stone). I too overheard plenty of comments about “so and so made sure she was still spinning at 40 weeks as she didn’t want to gain too much weight”. From being lucky enough to have two pregnancies, I can tell you they can be VERY different experiences and it’s not in your control whether you feel well enough to exercise etc.

There is another lady who works in my office who is super skinny (like really skinny). The bitchy one was making comments all of today about how amazing her figure is and “Oh Gruffalo aren’t you jealous...and she dresses so well too” Hmm. The nice (skinny) lady was saying “oh it’s really unjustified. Just look in my middle drawer” and she showed us a drawer filled with about 20-30 chocolate bars and packets of crisps (I’d already noticed she ate A LOT of junk, but obviously didn’t comment because I try not to be a total cow bag). She then proceeded to have a curry AND portion of chips for lunch, which I would never be able to “find the space for”. The thing is, some people just DON’T gain weight and some people gain weight the minute they sniff a lettuce leaf. Within reason, your “weight” isn’t necessity an indicator of your general health, your fitness, your self control or anything.

Anyway, monologue over...sorry!

PrivateCello · 12/03/2019 16:46

Oh thank you Blush
But seriously some people are so deluded and self absorbed, they have no consideration for other people’s feelings. You are a better person than them. My dear dad used to say that we have been given two ears so we can listen in and out to filter peoples’ crap and I find that very useful when people start spouting out all kind of rubbish.

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 12/03/2019 17:02

That’s brilliant. I’ll remember that Grin.

Gothamgirl1970 · 12/03/2019 17:05

Hi I am joining in. Birthday was yesterday so it all went pear shaped but today is not too bad!

Fiontar649 · 12/03/2019 19:08

Happy Birthday for yesterday Gotham - if you can't splurge on your birthday, well, when can you?!

PrivateCello · 12/03/2019 19:08

I like the message you sent on the other thread Fiontar, it was very gentle and without pressure. I remember Grey was going through a difficult time and hope she’s okay.
Welcome Gotham, huge fan of the series here too!
Yes that’s a good one Gruffalo!
Hope you are recovering When.

Fiontar649 · 12/03/2019 19:12

I hope I haven't left someone out!
Or even worse, included someone who has been posting recently, and shouldn't be on my list.

No offence meant to anyone - we are all mates here!

Elmashbu · 12/03/2019 19:20

Hi all

Sheepishly hanging around. It hasn't gone terribly but hasn't been great either. A dress size down ish but no real change in weight. 😞

Fiontar649 · 12/03/2019 19:31

Elmashbu lovely to hear from you!
A dress size down is BRILLIANT! Well done.

WhenCanISleepAgain · 12/03/2019 20:23

Hello Elmashbu and a dress size down is incredible. I had a similar situation in February and I suspect the scales will follow eventually.

Great message Fiontar and would be great to welcome back old or new friends!

Welcome Gotham and hope you enjoyed your birthday!

That’s a huge achievement cello and you’re right to feel very proud of yourself! All the more reason for us to be rooting for you as you prepare to celebrate in October.

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 12/03/2019 20:58

Elmashbu - that’s a fantastic achievement! I would quite happily take being a dress size down!

Fiontar649 · 12/03/2019 21:18

Me too Gruffalo - my clothes aren't as tight anymore, but I don't think I could squeeze into a smaller size yet.

CarrotPuff · 12/03/2019 22:13

Thanks for new thread

I've remarkably fell off the wagon this week, need to find a grip somewhere...

TheHoundsofLove · 13/03/2019 06:31

What do you think has caused you to fall off the wagon, carrot ?
Elmashbu Losing a dress size is brilliant. What have you been doing to achieve that?
I'm still about a size 13, so I suppose that I have probably lost a size.. I never bought clothes above a size 14, but they were getting tight, so I was probably a size 15-16 really. I do feel that I'm floundering a bit and think I need to have a couple of very strict weeks to get myself back on track again. A decentish day yesterday - a cheese, mushroom and onion omelette for lunch (used 3 eggs and it really filled me up) and then spiced lentil soup for dinner. I won't mention the cake I usually try not to have tempting, sugary snacks in the house, but my MIL has sent so much back with my DS and it's just sitting there tempting me...I ended up having a slice of lemon drizzle, a cherry bakewell and a tunnocks wafer thing yesterday. I did also go for a run, but still...

Fiontar649 · 13/03/2019 06:32

Hi Carrot - you'll get back into it. I was the same last week.

I've been awake since 5am 😴 - the wind is howling here. I thought I was going to nod off again but I have to get up soon. It's going to be a long day!

Fiontar649 · 13/03/2019 06:37

X-post Hounds - I have a range of clothes sizes! I haven't been a 14 or lower in years. I don't think I am back in my 16s yet, I was 18/20 at Christmas depending on the item. I really need to clear out my wardrobe and definitely get rid of the too-big stuff... Otherwise I am likely to grow back into it

Gothamgirl1970 · 13/03/2019 06:55

I have clothes from 22-8. Currently in 22! As I go down a size I will sell the bigger size on eBay and stash any ££ I get for a new wardrobe when I get to a 10 which is what I am aiming for.

Fiontar649 · 13/03/2019 07:12

Selling on ebay is always something I say I will do but I never get around to it. I have a charity shop bag in my utility room, and try to pop stuff I don't want any more straight into the bag after it's washed/dried so I don't put it back into my wardrobe. If it does end up back in there, I usually spend another month turning my nose up at it, and refusing to wear it, until I run out of clean clothes for work. And so, the cycle continues...

I am a fairly slovenly housekeeper 😂
