The 2019 Bunch (Thread 3): Lightly Springing into Summer!

TheHoundsofLove · 12/03/2019 12:56

As our old thread was almost full, here's a shiny new thread.
If there are any lurkers about, please do come and join us - we are a friendly, relaxed bunch. Although, hopefully not too relaxed as we need to see results
Summer is just around the corner, so let's do this...!

You sound like you've been lucky Stealth - one of my all-time favourite threads was the one where the date had all his money folded up in little plastic bags and was thought to have a false leg! 😂 It was absolute comedy gold.
I, too, think it could be water retention - something about your muscles taking on more fluid when you tear them during exercise! I'm not sure your gardening would account for 2 lbs Fiontar , but you never know... Grin
Nice to see you back Cello - I bloody love pizza!
Well done When - it'll be mere days before you hit the 13s! Yay!

Fiontar649 · 26/03/2019 13:37

I will take any excuse!

(And ignore my chippy tea on Friday, and Chinese on Saturday)

TheHoundsofLove · 26/03/2019 13:45

I've done a 10k run this morning. Plus, I've set up a mini gym at home, so I'm going to start doing some weightlifting in the evenings. I'm using Chloe Madeley's weights app and apparently it's optimal to do fasted cardio in the morning and then weights later in the day.

You must link the thread here Hounds if you find it, it will be a right laugh! I love pizza too Grin In fact last night I was googling eating pizza to lose weight and I came across a blog by an american girl who experimented by only eating pizza for a week and she lost 5 pounds. Hmm I wonder if I can give that a go?! Yes that's all I need right now Hmm
Also, what's with these guys turning up to dates with plastic bags Grin

PrivateCello · 26/03/2019 13:53

Well done on the run Hounds, nice weather for it too!

StealthNinjaMum · 26/03/2019 14:57

Ooh water retention I'll take that if I get a whoosh afterwards.

cello yes I did see the thread about the 87 year old wonder if that'll be me in 40 years time chasing after young men with my zimmer frame and it does seem like online dating is full of weird men. Maybe in a week's time I'll be telling you about another one!

I have a nice dress that I wore to my last date. It's about 6 years old but clingy and very flattering. I don't have many nice 'date clothes' so if I got past about 3 dates with someone would struggle. perhaps offer them sex at that point so they wouldn't be thinking about what I was wearing?

Ignoring all comments about pizza! And 10k runs jealous

PrivateCello · 26/03/2019 15:15

Am sure your date will rather you without clothes than with clothes on Grin AND you have a great figure so time to show it off! Perhaps after date 3, might be a good time to get some a new wardrobe as summer is just round the corner anyway!

As long as your 87 years old self don't turn up with a plastic bag to meet the young guys, you should be fine Grin

PrivateCello · 26/03/2019 16:38

If I dial back my appetite for the pizza, I would love to end the month at 68 kg. That would mean a loss of 1.4 kg in the next month will see me in the healthy appetite albeit at the higher end.

PrivateCello · 26/03/2019 16:39

Healthy appetite?! Jeez, I can’t stop thinking of food it appears! I meant healthy BMI!

Fiontar649 · 26/03/2019 18:07

Cello my airfryer is used at least 3 nights a week. Mainly for chips. I cut up spuds, parboil for about 5 mins, then they get about 20 mins in airfryer. I don't use any oil. They are no quicker than using the oven, but far nicer than attempts I've made trying to do them in the oven. I've done tofu (sticks a bit), and roasted chickpeas for a snack (addictive)

I don't eat meat, but DH would sometimes do a frozen chicken fillet. Basically any frozen oven food like chips, wedges, onion rings, waffles, chicken nuggets etc can be done. I find that things are crispier and cook more evenly.

Fiontar649 · 26/03/2019 18:09

I must look up these dating threads foe a laugh. Stealth I hope your next one us more successful!

WhenCanISleepAgain · 26/03/2019 18:21

After all the talk about pizza, I made DS a ‘homemade’ pizza using an english muffin tonight. He didn’t like it and refused to have anything to do with it so i ate it. I’d love to lose weight by eating pizza Grin

WhenCanISleepAgain · 26/03/2019 18:31

Amazing you’re so close to healthy cello! Can’t wait to get there.
I must have missed the dating threads. Are they in classics?

PrivateCello · 26/03/2019 18:47

Thanks for the fab ideas Fiontar, that’s exactly what I needed. I will be doing the chick peas for lunch tomorrow, never would have thought of that honestly. If you come across any other fab ideas, please do pass them on. I am actually so tempted to the chick peas right now!

When, muffin pizza sounds delish. Hey did you know there’s actually a pizza diet called 30 days pizza diet plan and also a pizza cleanse diet. One chef lost 100 pounds by eating pizza for lunch everyday. Okay okay, I will stop with the pizza now! Hope you enjoyed your one Grin

Oh that thread I referred to was in the relationship board yesterday, not sure if it’s still there. The one Hounds referred to, not sure if it’s around as well. I do love the online dating stories. Actually I just remembered, I had a meeting with one of my client the other day and I asked him how his lady friend was. He had met her on match.com and he said he just suddenly noticed one day that most of his space was filled with her stuff and was basically trying to move in without him noticing! I said oh you know there’s a word for that, it’s called cocklodger Grin. He couldn’t stop laughing. I was like yea I learnt this word on Mumsnet Grin. And yes so close to a healthy weight now, I hope I don’t self sabotage!

PrivateCello · 26/03/2019 18:48

And you ain’t far off the healthy weight When, you are into the 13s now so not far so go Smile

StealthNinjaMum · 26/03/2019 18:49

There's a series of long running dating threads in relationships that can be hilarious (and a bit depressing too). I don't know where the ones about the guy with one leg or the 87 year old were - I spend too much time in mumsnet on all the boards! Possibly AIBU or Relationships? I'm sure the 87 year old man one was only today or yesterday?

Cello that's amazing. Do you have an end goal or are you just going to stop dieting when you're happy?

PrivateCello · 26/03/2019 19:00

SNM it was def yesterday on the relationship board or could be AIBU! My natural weight is between 8 stones 3 and 10. I would like to stop at 9 and see how it is from there. Although I was a tiny 7 and a half stones pre kids but I was commuting on my cycle to work, a round trip of 36 miles per day plus running but that’s not sustainable anymore as I don’t exercise to that level. Do you have an end goal in mind?

Fiontar649 · 26/03/2019 21:50

Chickpeas are dead easy Cello. I drain a tin into a sieve, cover them with paprika, then airfry at 160-180 (not an exact science) for about 20 mins, shaking regularly. I like mine well-done /crispy so crank it up to 200 at the end for 5 or 10 mins. They burn easily enough at that stage, so I hover over them. There are loads of airfryer groups on FB.

StealthNinjaMum · 26/03/2019 22:24

privatecello I can't imagine being 7 1 /2 stones you must've been tiny!

I can't remember exactly what my weight is (I put it on an app and a child has lost my iPad) now I think it is 134 or 135 lbs. At my lightest before I was 125 lbs which is about 8st 13 and I was really happy with myself. So I suppose 10lbs is my goal - although I am doing more gym and pilates than before and an hour of swimming last week so maybe my body will change and I won't need to lose the weight.

houndsoflove are these like proper weights? I would love to be able to motivate myself at home to do something but I just need someone to kick me. I like the gym because they've given me a programme to follow otherwise I wouldn't know were to start. Stbexh was very weedy but has been working out at home for a couple of years and I noticed tonight he was looking quite muscular bastard

PrivateCello · 27/03/2019 06:24

Fiontar, thanks, I am making the chickpeas to take for lunch today, I can’t wait. I put salt, pepper and chilli flakes on it. Will have some salad with it.
Stealth, that sounds like a good goal, how tall are you? Is the iPad lost lost or might find it somewhere in the house?
Best foot forward for the day everyone!

TheHoundsofLove · 27/03/2019 08:48

Stealth Yes - I've got a benchpress and some dumbells! I started last night and quite enjoyed it. Lifting weights is meant to make the biggest change to what your body looks like, so we shall see...?!

Cello You sound like a similar size to me as, at my slimmest, I was 7st12. I'm 5'3 and have a slight build. My end goal is to be 8 stone something - I'll decide what the 'something' is when I get there.
I'd like to run today, but my legs feel a bit achey from yesterday, so I think I'll do some weights and core exercises instead.
The chilli chickpeas sound awesome!

StealthNinjaMum · 30/03/2019 12:52

Where is everyone. I hope you're all ok.

Well my eating has been inconsistent but I have lost the lb I put on last week. When I say inconsistent I possibly should say it's just been a bit shit - carbs like toast, chocolate, biscuits, lasagne - but I've clearly been under the calorie limit enough to lose weight. I really want to lose weight healthily and I'm not doing that.

I went to the gym yesterday and had a good session.

Fiontar649 · 30/03/2019 13:31

Just checking in. Had a nuts week at work. Dinners have been a bit dodgy, but breakfast and lunches have been fine. Have had a morning catching up on housework. The glamour. DH is working today.
Might head to the coast tomorrow to have a walk.

mrbob · 30/03/2019 21:54

I have been absolutely shit this week and too embarrassed to come back but the last 2 days have been a bit better so I feel able to show my face again. I have been working away this week in the back end of nowhere (my wifi dongle kept asking me if I was sure that I didn't need international roaming and then would disconnect because the reception was so bad) and did a bit of feeling-eating. I wasn't the worst (when I say "shit" I mean I have eaten fruit and a few squares of dark chocolate and maybe 4 biscuits in the week but that apparently is enough) but I am a kg up from last time I weighed.

I am feeling like even barely eating anything I just STS and am realising that this is going to be my life! Which is fine I guess- totally on plan all the time except when I eat out and then I can go crazy and eat some rice or dahl or something equally extravagant :/

I need to have a drive and get on with the rest of the 10kg though and that ain't going to happen on its own! I feel this week will tell (but then have a wedding at the weekend again with 2 meals involved) At least I finally have one day off today and I can go and do some chores and then maybe have a walk somewhere and cheer myself up while doing something towards moving the fat arse!

I keep telling myself that as long as I can STS even in the bad weeks I am in a better place than I was on New Years Day- if I let it slide then I will have to do all this again so that would be daft! One day I will get there!

PrivateCello · 31/03/2019 09:44

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday? Weather has just turned after being so sunny and warm yesterday. MrBob it’s sounds really hard being away from home. Your dongal made me laugh Grin how long are you away for? Hopefully when you get back, you will get back into routine.
Hounds, we have similar goals!
Stealth good luck for tomorrow’s date and well done on losing the pound.
I will weigh in later today to log the last weigh in for the month.
