The 2019 Bunch (Thread 3): Lightly Springing into Summer!

As our old thread was almost full, here's a shiny new thread.
If there are any lurkers about, please do come and join us - we are a friendly, relaxed bunch. Although, hopefully not too relaxed as we need to see results
Summer is just around the corner, so let's do this...!

Well, it's an absolutely beautiful weekend here - was 21 degrees yesterday and looks to be the same today. I did a 12 km run this morning and it was absolutely glorious!
mrbob 1 kg is nothing in the grand scheme of things, really. Although, I understand the feeling of slogging your guts out to essentially stay the same! It's the 1st April tomorrow, so the perfect time for a fresher start!
I have achieved my stone over the first 3 months...
Starting weight: 12st 2 (BMI 30.1 - obese)
Current weight: 11st 2 (BMI 27.6 - overweight)
I am going to try to lose half a stone in April...

PrivateCello · 31/03/2019 12:08

Oh well done Hounds! Jealous of your nice weather Envy
Ending the month’s at 68.4 kg, which means a 3 kg loss from 71.4 kg at the beginning of the month. Hoping for some good losses in the next calendar quarter now.

TheHoundsofLove · 31/03/2019 16:51

Cello A 3kg loss (so just short of 7lbs, I think) over the last month is fantastic progress! You must be really happy with that!

OP posts:
PrivateCello · 31/03/2019 18:52

Yes Hounds, I am happy with that. Although my eating hasn’t been brilliant these past few weeks so my aim is to get a better handle on what I do after dinner. The problem is I go to bed very early ( before 8 some nights ) so I almost feel like I need something/anything other than dinner before going to bed. It’s hard to explain. Anyway, hope April is kind. All well with you? Smile

Fiontar649 · 31/03/2019 19:32

Hello everyone! I'be had a nice quiet Sunday, we went to see Captain Marvel so obviously ate my weight in popcorn. I am slipping a bit these days. BUT tomorrow is start of the month, and I have my lunches and dinners made until Wed. On Wed night I am going to my mum's for a few days. Eating wil be 50/50 fine/not fine. I'll do my best.

Focusing more on how I look instead of scales. I bought a dress and top in Oasis today. I have not fit into their stuff in years Blush

Have a nice evening - isn't the bright evening a treat!

Springyellow · 31/03/2019 22:47

Hello everyone, I've come here for some motivation as starting yet again tomorrow! I'm size 16, 5 '2 and looking and feeling terrible. Nice to 'meet' you all x

TheHoundsofLove · 01/04/2019 07:24

Welcome Spring !
Right....it's the 1st of April, so is the perfect time for a fresh start. Let's smash this!
As much as I don't really like doing it, I'm going to have a month of counting calories - aiming for 1400 calories a day, but will eat back some exercise calories if I feel the need. I really want to lose half a stone this month, so have got to step it up a gear...

OP posts:
StealthNinjaMum · 01/04/2019 07:28

mrbob never feel embarrassed to come back, if this wasn't hard we wouldn't need to have a special board just for people on diets.

This is about retraining our body and I've had a bad week too (more on that later) but I like how I look and so this its going to be my life but I will get easier. I had a coffee with a friend on Friday who looks naturally thin (she is a stunning woman) and even she struggles and says that you need a year for your body to reset itself.

So I haven't been on my fitness pal for a few weeks but coping because I have been eating soup, salad, stir fries. But the last week has been too hard. I had a child's party on Friday evening and the parents supplied lots of biscuits which I hoovered up and then I ate a couple of the children's easter eggs that got damaged in the food order (they were not full sized eggs). Yesterday dc wanted to go to a Chinese restaurant for a mothers day 'treat' after buying me lots of chocolate for my present. I am annoyed with stbexh about that - he knows I don't even like chocolate that much but when it's around I eat it - for helping them buy it.

So the end result of this is I am 137.3 lbs which is 1/2 lb less than on the 1st of March! For all my effort I have lost just 1/2 lb!

But being positive, I do weigh less and I have been going to the gym and swimming more, Stbexh has noticed my biceps are more defined after minimal work. 1/2 lb off is better than 1/2 lb on and before I started the diet that's the direction I was going in.

StealthNinjaMum · 01/04/2019 07:33

hounds of love well done on your stone and a half! (You absolutely will do your April target!)

cello that's amazing. Very jealous.

Fiontar how lovely to go clothes shopping. I bought some chinos from Marks in a size 10 which look good on me but I don't really have any tops for them. I bought a new one in the Mint Velvet sale but I'm taking it back because it looked crap over my big boobs.

Welcome spring yellow you can definitely do this.

TheHoundsofLove · 01/04/2019 12:07

Thanks Stealth . You're crediting me with an extra half stone loss, though tempted to keep quiet and take credit , but I'm determined it'll be a stone and half by the end of this month! Grin
It's interesting you saying about your friend as I do think there's a temptation to just assume that anyone slim is just effortlessly so. I have a really stunning friend who I have only known as being very slim - I was gobsmacked when she told me that she lost just over 10 stones a few years ago! Likewise, I know 2 men who've lost 7 and 8 stones respectively and, again, you'd never think that they'd been anything other than very slim. I honestly think that most slim adults have to constantly work at being/staying that way.

Hello, good to see others doing well and lots to catch up on after not being online over the weekend. I’m popping in at the start of another month and after a weekend of being poorly in the SleepAgain household. We’re on the mend again and I need to re-focus, especially as summer holiday is nearly all decided so lots to look forward to. Remember the ‘where are you on the global fat scale’ calculator that someone posted? Well we’re going to the country that is my goal weight Grin Lets see if I can get closer to goal before the holiday...

StealthNinjaMum · 01/04/2019 12:48

Hounds I know, I'm including your April weight because I know you'll do it!

I have observed many 'thin' people in the last few years and there are some for whom it's effortless - i.e. those people who know they're full and leave food on their plate and just don't fancy cake

There are others who do stuff like have a starter as a main course in a restaurant. In fact I take the dc to a pizza restaurant sometimes and will have a bruschetta as a main meal and we also go to an American Diner where they'll let me have a starter chilli as my main course because the main course chilli is too big.

TheHoundsofLove · 01/04/2019 13:08

Ahh, I see that now, Stealth . Well, I have to do it now! Grin

OP posts:
TheHoundsofLove · 01/04/2019 13:17

What a coincidence When Smile ! How much more do you have to lose to get to your goal?

OP posts:
CarrotPuff · 01/04/2019 16:37

Hi everyone, fell off the thread a bit!

Not such a good month for me, I only lost a pound... I'm hoping April will be better, but I'll keep going regardless. Even if I continue at this snail pace, I'll still be 2st lighter by the end of the year. That's not something to be sniffed at!

Springyellow · 01/04/2019 21:35

Thanks for all the welcomes 😍. It's great to read about people's progress it gives a bit of inspiration. I really find the slow going of weight loss hardest, I have a bad day which turns into a bad week. A couple of weeks ago I stuck strict to keto with some fasting thrown in, 3kgs dropped off in a week then for some reason I just gave up and put it all back on again 🤦‍♀️ I mean ffs what is wrong with me ?!
Anyway been good today except for a couple of mothers days chocs, thanks for listening x

WhenCanISleepAgain · 02/04/2019 07:15

I have 28 lbs to lose Hounds. If I post 2lbs a week I could be at my (initial) goal weight by my summer holiday but in practice I’m losing much much slower than that and that’s Ok.

Welcome back carrot and 2 stone in a year would still be a significant loss and you’ll be so pleased you stuck with it. If I hadn’t started this I think I would have gained more so any loss over the year takes me to a much healthier weight.

Welcome Spring! I’ve found weight loss to be slow and up and down too.

I’ve stayed the same this week (14 stone exactly) and am relieved because I probably should have gained. The scale flickers briefly to 13 stone something before resting at 14 stone so I’ll hopefully cross that line soon.

Fiontar649 · 02/04/2019 07:59

Morning! is anyone else still useless after the time change

Lost the 2 lbs I gained last week. I am still 2 lbs away from my 2 stone. I really want to be well in to 13s by end of April too When

Welcome Spring - great to have you here

Carrot - your March sounds similar to mine 😊 I feel like I am in a much better head-space for April though

Shall we all re-brand March as the month we learnt how good we are at maintaining and not going backwards? 😉 it is a skill we will need when we get to goal

mrbob · 02/04/2019 12:15

Hi Spring There are many pretty inspiring people on here- they are keeping me going that is for sure!
Doing better today so feeling a bit more positive and very grateful for all you lot showing me that it is possible!
Fiontar that sounds like an excellent March theme. And hopefully April will be the "we are all super skinny and happy" month :)

StealthNinjaMum · 02/04/2019 13:31

Yes. Maintaining is a bloody good thing to do. If we all maintained forever it would still be better than where we were at the start of the year!

Having said that I would prefer mrbobs idea that April will be the "we are all super skinny and happy" month!

Springyellow · 02/04/2019 14:11

I've made an appointment to do an EMS workout tomorrow for a trial has anyone tried that? I used to gym it quite regularly years ago but have an injury now which prevents anything high impact so have only been swimming and yoga recently. And not very frequently either :/

WhenCanISleepAgain · 03/04/2019 07:22

Wednesday weigh in = 13 st 13.4! Yes!!!

Fiontar649 · 03/04/2019 07:40

High fives When

WhenCanISleepAgain · 03/04/2019 08:12

Thank you Fiontar - feeling very happy! You’ll cross that line too soon!

StealthNinjaMum · 03/04/2019 11:24

I just googled EMS as I hadn't heard of it. Let us know how it goes. I sometimes do pilates as I don't like anything too high impact either and my pilates class of full of people with a variety of injuries and the instructor tailors the class for them.

WhencanIsleepAgain About time! I am so pleased for you. May you never see 14 on the scales again!
