I am starting a diet tomorrow, anyone care to join me.

I need to shift at least two and a half stone of lard, I feel hideous.

Well, I planned food today, all going well, until I had a major glitch due to plumbing issues.Cannot seem to get boiler working right, it has been going on for two months, plumber out today to service said boiler & now it’s not working. Costing £££ that I do not have. Driving me mad - and big emotional eating binge ensued.
I only hope by venting about this to you, my diet buddies, I can get back on track. Grrr.
Tomorrow is another day....

PocketFullOfCrap · 19/02/2019 00:26

I've just got in from work and my stomach is actually rumbling...I can't remember the last time that happened!

...Am I skinny yet?!

camdenchips · 19/02/2019 07:39

Morning

Just wanted a little rant about my friend. I've woken up still angry about it.

Yesterday, my friend asked me to go shopping with her for new shoes for a wedding. I said I was happy to go with her but I am on a strict diet so I won't be eating out with her, just coffee. Fine she said.

We got to town, ten minutes later she is trying to entice me into Greggs (the pie shop, not the man) I said no and remind her of my diet. We move on, ten minutes later she is trying to get me into McDonald's, then a bit later she's trying to get me into KFC. Then she tried tempting me to a Weatherspoons, even offering t pay!

It was really difficult saying no to all this food, I was really hungry. I'm so proud of myself for saying no but I am really pissed off with her that she put me in this position. What a bitch. She knows the score as she is overweight herself and miserable about it.

Rant over

Have a lovely day.

Camden that's pretty shitty of your friend, well done for not caving though that's impressive.

Oh no moan! It's done now just draw a line and step over it. You don't throw all the roses out if only one is wilting. So don't ruin other diet days just coz you slipped up. Good luck with your boiler, is it sorted yet?

I've woken up for the first time NOT bloated and I can't believe the difference, my belly hasn't changed at all but I feel SO much better. Something feels different about this diet attempt and I'm feeling positive, what's everyone get for food today then?

Peachteeshirt · 19/02/2019 08:44

Camden - well done for sticking to your plan - the repeated ‘no thanks’ eventually works, annoying nonetheless.

Moan - hope you get to the bottom of the boiler issue.

Pocket - yes!!! Was thinking same when I woke up..I usually eat late and night then sleep badly but this morning i woke up not feeling quite as sluggish as usual - I must keep reminding myself of that so I don’t return to my bad habit at night!

Moanranger · 19/02/2019 08:51

Thanks, Pocket. Boiler will run & run, getting a plumber out is a challenge, tho this company is (relatively) quick.Sad
My binge really upset me, more than usual, but then I realised it is perhaps because I have been food-planning & following my plan well, and by breaking it, I did more than just binge.
Haven’t planned the day quite yet, esp thinking how to offset 1000 extra cals from yesterday - that bad!
May walk to shop shortly & buy sandwich ham & a red pepper. Ham sandwich for lunch & veg chilli for supper.

PocketFullOfCrap · 19/02/2019 09:08

I don't think anyone starts a diet and doesn't have a single off day for the whole duration. Be kind to yourself moan, instead of overthinking it you need to just tell yourself it's a blip and move on.

MissingPanda · 19/02/2019 11:30

Morning :)

Well done on resisting Camden. If your friend is overweight and miserable I suspect she's trying to sabotage you to avoid being "the fat one" when you succeed in losing the weight.

Moanranger pick yourself up, dust yourself off and carry on. Do not allow yourself to be derailed by one bad day. I know it's not easy, I've been there but think in a month's time you can either look back on it as a blip which slowed down the weight loss or you can be still where you are or even heavier because you gave up. I'd rather it be the former myself.

Dieting isn't easy when life is running smoothly, not with all the temptation around. It's even harder when things go wrong and life is more stressful but if we want to lose the weight we have to be strong. I know I've looked back in the past and thought 'I could have lost half a stone/a stone/two stone if I'd kept to the diet instead of giving up.

I hope I don't sound patronising there. I don't mean to be. I managed to lose 3st 10lb in 2017 then put a stone back on last year. I think to myself that if I'd managed to keep it up I could have been at goal weight by now. Instead I have to relose (is that a word?) a stone plus the rest of what I want to lose. Hopefully by sharing it will help others.

2018anewstart · 19/02/2019 12:36

@moanranger try not to worry about the binge yesterday. Stay positive today! I think at the cause of moat people's weight problems is emotional eating. .I know I do. Perhaps we just need to think of something to distract us when we feel this way.. any ideas?

@Camden I have had people like that who basically are trying to force you to eat when you tell them you are on a diet. It's so infuriating because wgat you need is support not temptation. I find it makes me more resistant to not eating the junk in front of them so in an adverse way it helps me.

Hello to any newbies! The more the merrier I am already looking forward to reading this thread in summer when we will all be kick aas slim jims. Think of those bikinIs and how good they are going to feel.

PocketFullOfCrap · 19/02/2019 13:50

I'm feeling hungry today, already had half the days cals and considering having dinner now too!

Moanranger · 19/02/2019 16:09

I am now hanging out waiting for plumber who will fix boiler and then extract £££ from my wallet.
2018 Part of my process is to list everything I can do to distract myself from eating; yesterday was just overwhelmed with frustration & sense of being sh*t upon from a great height. I have now eaten ca 500 cals. My distractions are to read and to take a shower, but only after plumber has left.
Pocket maybe cook dinner now,but hold off eating it. I cooked veg chilli this morning. It will be ready to eat later. Not a particularly appetising mid-morning dish.

Nicecupofcoco · 19/02/2019 18:38

I'm not doing well at all this week! It's only Tuesday!
I've decided I'm going to start writing down what I eat, in the hopes it will help. Just dont seem to have much will power! Sounds like you ladies are doing great though! Well done! Smile
I've got a wedding in June! I will be slim for it!

PocketFullOfCrap · 19/02/2019 19:11

Urgh, Dh has talked me into McDonald's. Hes explained that today should be a day off as it's the only evening we see each other this week Hmm to be fair though I actually think he might have a point and I might go lower cals the rest of the week and Tuesdays be my day off. That way when I struggle I can say no just wait til Tuesday and it won't be so hard...I'm not sure if it's genius or I'm clutching at straws! It's also far enough away from weighday to not make a dent... I dunno Confused

2018anewstart · 19/02/2019 22:48

Writing what you are eating down definitely helps. And also writing as a distraction from eating sounds like a good idea. My trigger point is when I get home from work. I could eat all night. Been really good in work but a bit naughty when I got home but not as naughty as yesterday! Going to keep to same routine for day and get healthy snacks to munch on when I come home. .peppers and houmous. Not necessarily low calorie but better than junk. Sleep well guys. Xxx

2018anewstart · 19/02/2019 22:49

I'm also going to see if I can find a meditation video on you tube about eating less. .. anything is worth a try! Perhaps it will hypnotise me!

2018anewstart · 19/02/2019 22:55

P's @nicecupcoco you will feel amazing by June, think positive @pocketfulofcrap tell hubby to cook you a nice romantic and healthy meal to support you in your weight loss journey on your one evening together. (Half joking but half serious!)

Moanranger · 20/02/2019 07:50

Yesterday much better; I planned what to eat & stuck to it.Am now starting to work out calorie counts as well. The plan for today is porridge for breakfast, leftover veg chilli for lunch & roast chicken & salad for dinner with a bit of leftover potato-sweet potato mash.
Pocket McDs not lethal, cal counts on everything. Unless it becomes an excuse for a blowout Grin

MillieMoodle · 20/02/2019 08:08

Just catching up as has a manic two days at work. Now got 3 days off so hoping I can eat well. I always eat badly when it's crazy busy at work as I don't get in til late and then DH talks me into a takeaway.

@camdenchips well done for keeping your willpower and sticking to your guns. How mean and unsupportive of your friend.

@Moanranger Is your boiler sorted? Not a good time of year for it to pack up!

I had a terrible day food-wise yesterday. It involved Dominos. I also hardly did any steps Monday or yesterday as was so busy at work. I am feeling annoyed with myself about it all. Someone give me a slap please!

camdenchips · 20/02/2019 08:18

Just checking in.

It's a lovely day. The sky is blue and the birds are singing and I'm bloody starving!

OP posts:
2018anewstart · 20/02/2019 10:01

@Camden chips Love the fact it's a new day. Porridge eaten can't wait for lunch. @moanranger your menu sounds great! Definitely feeling less bloated...almost tempted to pop on scales this morning but thought don't do it! If you feel like munching think summer is on its way!

Peachteeshirt · 20/02/2019 14:17

Im currently reading the latest here whilst I have some lunch (veggie chilli - moanranger we must have same chef :) )

Really hungry today but trying to resist any urge to run out to shops. Have upped water intake to try to keep myself full - feel like I’m swimming!

It’s great hearing how you all getting on and your comments in general-one in particular that I think about all the time is the similar to your thought Panda..I was supposed to have started this regime at beginning of January- if I had I’d be so much closer to my goal. Urgh. The upside is I’ve met you lovely lot starting last week!

Nicecupofcoco · 20/02/2019 15:22

Thanks 2018! I hope so!
Yes that's my trouble. I can be good all day and at night I can't help but crave something sweet! I think getting organised and buying in healthy snacks is the way to go 2018! Dp takes lunch into work each day, usually includes chocolate biscuits for afterwards, so there's temptation in the house. I've even asked him to keep them in his car, he thinks I'm joking! Hmm
Been calorie counting today, and writing everything down, so far so good!
Milliemoodle men eh? Always a bad influence! My dp is the same.
Well done all, let's keep it up! Smile

camdenchips · 20/02/2019 19:45

I've really upped my water intake. Trouble is I need a wee every five minutes. On the plus side, my Fitbit steps will increase with all this trotting off to the loo.

I've had a good day food wise, I've also been crazy cleaning lady today in the hope that it counts as exercise. I'm bloody exhausted.

Just sat down and painted my nails. This stops me eating as they take so long to dry in between coats.

Hope that you all have had a good day.
