I am starting a diet tomorrow, anyone care to join me.

I need to shift at least two and a half stone of lard, I feel hideous.

Afternoon. Everything is going okay here. Staying within my calorie allowance so far this week. It's takeout at work tonight so we'll have to see what happens there. Depends on where they order from. Bright side I was well under yesterday, 2/300 under a couple of other days and still have 900 to play with today so there won't be too much damage done.

MillirMoodle portion control is my problem too which is why I use MFP. It's so tempting to add a bit more or think sod it I'll have those chips and ignore the extra calories without the reminder.

MillieMoodle · 16/02/2019 16:42

@MissingPanda enjoy your takeaway and well done for keeping to your calorie allowance!

I used to use MFP but got out of the habit. Maybe I should start again, it did keep me quite focused.

PocketFullOfCrap · 16/02/2019 20:26

Hi, I'm starting tomorrow after not getting my butt in gear from after Xmas!

Also doing mfp and as much exercise as I can although I don't have any child free time other than when I'm at work and dd has a broken leg atm so can't do too much..

Hoping that finding a thread will keep me on track and away from choc!

Moanranger · 16/02/2019 20:27

Can I join? I am doing Beck Diet for life, and one requirement is that I get a Diet Buddy - so this thread could be it.
There are various steps in this system, at first you do not cut back on calories, but establish a pattern of planning eating, writing it down beforehand, then sticking to it. This is meant to establish a good habit of only eating what you have planned to eat. So I have done that for a couple of weeks & getting the hang of it. Now I am starting to eat 200-250 cal breakfasts - I have a list, and have 8 options, so a pretty good choice. Starting Mon, I am going to restrict myself to a 400 cal lunch - need to buy a few items tomorrow. I will give that a week or so, and then go the whole hog, with 500 cal for dinner. 200-300 cal per day snack budget.

I have decided to break a habit of a lifetime, and instead of starting some extreme diet Mon a.m. to instead ease into it, creating good habits.
Approach is CBT based, so lots of affirmations, etc. Also advises against cutting calories too low. My eating was getting very chaotic, so I am hoping this puts paid to that, and results in some weight loss. I need to get 2 stone off.

MillieMoodle · 17/02/2019 08:28

@PocketFullOfCrap your poor DD! How did she manage that? I struggle with fitting in exercise too as have two young DC and life revolves around work and them at the moment.

@Moanranger that sounds a bit like what I am trying to do. Rather than a crash diet where I live off lettuce and cut out all the nice things, I'm trying to change my eating habits altogether and make it a more sustainable diet, but where I can still enjoy the food I like. Self-control and portion sizes are what I need to deal with first!

I've downloaded MFP again - I've checked my history on there and I first started it in 2012 after I'd had DS1 when I was 27.6 lbs lighter than I am now. Shock Oh to be that size again!

Yesterday I had:
B - Actimel 0% strawberry and 2 slices of wholemeal toast with honey
L - 3 slices of cheese on toast
D - Blushsome salt and vinegar baked crisps, some Haribo, 4 ginger nut biscuits and 5 squares of galaxy chocolate. Oops Blush

Today is another day!

camdenchips · 17/02/2019 09:34

Morning all and welcome to the new buddies.

Today is my first weigh day, it's been a very long week.

I've lost 6lbs. I honestly can't believe it.

youbethemummylion · 17/02/2019 09:55

Wow well done camdenchips
Im doing really good at sticking to my plan, but I have a friend visiting tomorrow whi wants to go out for lunch and I dont know if faced with a pub menu I can make good choices!

PocketFullOfCrap · 17/02/2019 10:04

Wow Camden that's fab well done!

I've just weighed myself and reset my mfp, it's still down from when I first set it up, though 11lb more than when I last used it!

@MillieMoodle total cliche she was jumping on the sofa with ds and just as I said someone is going to get hurt she fell and landed funny and cracked the bone..she's only 2 bless her it's been really tricky.

MillieMoodle · 17/02/2019 10:24

Wow, well done @camdenchips that's amazing! You must feel really encouraged to carry on!

@PocketFullOfCrap oh bless her! It's so difficult to explain things to them so they can understand at that age. My DS2 is 2 as well. A challenging age! Grin

PocketFullOfCrap · 17/02/2019 10:35

Yeah she really wants to walk on it but we've noticed the days she walks on it she's in pain at night so now we are trying to keep her off it and she's not impressed!

Moanranger · 17/02/2019 12:29

Pocket total bummer, I managed to avoid broken bones with my two ( now grown)
Cchips Total star - you’re an inspiration.
Have planned today, which is porridge with fake sugar and coffee. I buy this really granular porridge, but it really sticks to my ribs. Lunch is salad, low fat dressing & veg soup. Just bought a bunch of soups with max cals for a whole tin 183, so even if I pig out, not damaging. Soup is handy like that. Dinner will be rice, black bean, cheese & salsa wraps. I make these. I keep cooked beans & rice on the go, so I can quickly make something nutritious with the faff of long cooking times. I have a Pressure King, which is great.

2018anewstart · 17/02/2019 13:13

Any chance of a late joiner. Desparate to lose about 2 stone have put a stone and a half in since splitting from my husband 10 months ago. I must be more contented! Have a really unhealthy relationship with food as I just can't stop eating! Will binge eat. This morning have finished off left over pizza and a packet of chocolates and was meant to be good. 🙈 really like the idea if diet plan above where you keep a food diary. Would you be able to kethus know your choice of 8 breakfasts as think I will start looking at my breakfasts this week. Ff out for a jog (waddle) for the first time in months even though I would rather be sat on the sofa reading a book. Hope you are all having a good eating day today. We can do this.

MillieMoodle · 17/02/2019 13:28

@PocketFullOfCrap she must be so frustrated by it poor mite. At 2 they are desperate to explore! Hope it heals quickly and she is back on her feet soon.

@2018anewstart welcome! I also can't stop eating at times, especially when unhappy or overtired. I am hoping that being answerable to strangers on the Internet will help with my self-control!

PocketFullOfCrap · 17/02/2019 13:55

2018 and moan you both sound so motivated!

Binge eating is a bastard isn't it. I've been secret eating whilst Dh is at work then hiding the evidence-that's not healthy and I feel like realising that was my turning point to get myself organised and on here to sort myself out!

Today I had a roast dinner but skipped the Yorkshire puddings and only had a tiny amount of gravy and 1 potato then stuffed myself silly with veg and chicken, feels good to get back on it!

2018anewstart · 17/02/2019 14:24

Just come back from my waddle and run myself a bath to avoid going straight to the kitchen. Just read the thread back to the beginning and you all sound like you are doing amazing. Going to plan my meals for week next and do food order online. Any inspirational healthy dinner ideas?

Nicecupofcoco · 17/02/2019 14:51

Well done camdenchips! And hello to newbies!
I've had bad weekend! Far too many treats, plus take out last night! I do OK for few days, then completely blow it!
Back to it though! Smile

PocketFullOfCrap · 17/02/2019 16:27

I'm planning on lots of tinned soup and adding extra veg to bulk it out, tons of water as I'm sure I'm confusing hunger with thirst.

Moanranger · 17/02/2019 17:39

2018 Food planning helps a lot. Today when I was driving to shops I thought about buying a pastry, but it wasn’t on my plan, so I didn’t. The food planning is starting to become a habit.
Also list all the things you can do instead of snacking when bored. That helps too.
Off to have a shower & then prep dinner.

Peachteeshirt · 17/02/2019 20:02

Another late comer-may I join too? I always say I’ll start on Mondays which means I gorge on everything naughty that was purchased during the weekend on sundays. Today is first Sunday I haven’t done this this year and have vowed not to buy bad food and get myself back on track.

mommymooo · 17/02/2019 20:34

I'm feeling a bit left out every thing I put gets ignored so sorry ladies I'm leaving I hope you all get to your goals. Please don't give up. Xxx

VioletCharlotte · 17/02/2019 20:52

Hello, is it ok to join you? I've piled on a the weight recently. I don't weigh myself (no scales) but I'm visibly bigger and all my clothes feel tight. I reckon I've got about 11/2 stone to lose. I've been munching on pastries, cake and puddings all winter and it needs to stop!

So diet starts tomorrow. I've got into some bad habits I need to break. I'm ok with meals. But everyday I find myself having a pain au chocolat or similar with my coffee. Then mid afternoon, snacking on chocolate or biscuits. And before bed it's more chocolate or pudding, whatever's in the kitchen.

Need to get back to the gym as well and start swimming again. I used to go regularly 4 times a week, I've really let it slide.

PocketFullOfCrap · 17/02/2019 21:41

@mommymooo don't go. I only read the OP and then posted my say, though now you said that I have scrolled through and found your last post.

KK?! God that's mahoosive, your back must be in agony? When is the OP date?

I've just managed 30 mins on the exercise bike-my legs are like jelly! Blush

Moanranger · 17/02/2019 23:10

Mommymoo don’t take it personally, I cannot tell you the number of times I have posted on threads & have been completely ignored. It is usually because a few posters get into a sort ofdialog with each other, or a bunch of posts come in right after you have posted.
You look like your doing really well, especially with all your challenges- stay with us!

camdenchips · 18/02/2019 06:49

Mommy I am sorry that you are feeling ignored, please don't take it personally. I think what Moanranger says is right. It's nothing personal. Stay with us.

camdenchips · 18/02/2019 07:20

It's a new week and we are all going to do well and stay focused on what we want to achieve.

I'm off work this week which I am really looking forward to. I feel that I have really let myself go now that I am fat so I will be making an effort by getting a new hair cut and sort my nails out. I bought a facial brush in Aldi yesterday so I will be working on a good skincare routine. Have also purchased a L'Oréal face mask. I am taking this very seriously Grin

Good luck all
