Anyone in?

Im doing dry jan which will help, better meal planning, and upping the water intake. No official "plan" in mind yet but will look to choosing one soon.

Im weighing in Jan1st, currently just shy of 14stone. I need to hit 9 1/2 to hit a healthy BMI.

I've just created a thread saying exactly this!

Can I play?

I'll copy and paste what I wrote over there...

To be at the lower end of my ideal BMI weight, I have to lose HALF OF MY BODY WEIGHT!

This does not upset me.

It does not daunt me.

Eight stone is less than a stone a month for a year! Or 2.1lb a week.

I'm aiming for 1-2lb a week. I've made an excel spreadsheet, working out my TDEE, and aiming for 500-700 calories below it, per day. I've entered formulae in it, so it will change depending on my weight on that day.

I'll be utilizing MFP, but fucking off the "1200 calories" bollocks...I've actually set it up to "maintain my current weight" so it doesn't tell me off every day! 🤣

I'm also going to burn at least 200 calories a day doing things like walking, energetic house cleaning, etc. This will increase as my weight goes down, and my energy increases. Where I live, walking to the bus stop is more like a mile hike, as it's all uneven terrain and country lanes!

When I've lost the equivalent of two ankle-weights, I'm going to buy some- and wear them- so I'm still burning as many calories.

I've made a Pinterest board of clothes in my style, in a size 12. Also a list of "treats" for every time I hit 10lb loss.

And I'm going to order a full length mirror for the first time in a decade.

Truth
Transparancy
Total Overhaul.

I got this!

FATEdestiny · 27/12/2018 10:48

Why? By body has lots of fat stores to use up for energy?

Which is the whole point of calorie deficit.

FATEdestiny · 27/12/2018 10:49

That was @RedPandaMama

certainlymerry · 27/12/2018 10:55

I will join. i am currently just over 13 stones and need to be 9 and a half. i just bought the Tom Kerridge cookbook, and intend to cut out carbs and alcohol, up water and exercise.I lost 2 stones ten years ago doing this!! Put it all back on plus 2 stones. It is SO depressing.
I hate myself. i am tired of wearing fat clothes, feeling like crap and hating holidays because i look awful in swimwear. Avoiding social events and taking no pleasure in wearing clothes at all.

RedPandaMama · 27/12/2018 11:08

@FATEdestiny yes I understand how calorie deficit works, before I had my daughter I was really into fitness and used to work out a lot (mainly high intensity interval stuff, not running though) and burned 3000 calories a day easily. Eating 2000 calories I was still losing weight as my deficit was so high. Unless you're really short I can't see how having such a huge calorie deficit can be healthy for your body, do you not feel really hungry all the time having just 2 meals a day and that kind of exercise?! I don't see how you aren't burning muscle as well as fat.

Not trying to be argumentative or having a go or anything, just genuinely surprised you can physically sustain that.

antipodeanjo · 27/12/2018 11:46

Can I join too?!

I didn't lose the baby weight after my son in 2016 and have just had baby no 2. I am too scared to weigh myself yet, but am a size 16 and want to go back to a 10.

I have been inspired by everyone's enthusiasm and @FATEdestiny's success! Especially since my main excuse has been that with a baby & work, it is too hard to exercise. But Fate managed to lose weight with 4 kids! We can do this!

Eesha · 27/12/2018 13:40

So in June I thought I was 14stone 3 and now 13stone so was happyier, HOWEVER someone gave me new scales and turns out my old scales were 9lb out! Arghhh....so I've lost weight but actually bigger than I thought I was!

Now I want to really lose weight quickly.....So I'll join the thread😁

Schmoobarb · 27/12/2018 14:34

Me. I’m morbidly obese and actually starting to feel debilitated by it. Every Christmas I say no more I’ll have changed by next Christmas but I never have. I’m really worried I’ll die if I don’t change.

AFridgeTooFar · 27/12/2018 14:41

Anyone doing MFP?

If you'd like a "friend" on there, feel free to add me!

Pennina · 27/12/2018 14:55

Me too, gracey88 I need to lose same as you.

Worried I'll struggle as I'm a bit older - early 50s.

However, I've got to get healthy and I'm sick of looking fat.

Pennina · 27/12/2018 14:57

FATEdestiny Great to see you on here. I've seen you on other threads and you have been quite inspiring. I hope you will pop on to give us all pointers and encouragement

SusanWalker · 27/12/2018 15:17

I'll join. I managed to lose a stone and a half recently but still have just under seven stone to go to get to a healthy weight. I have at least dropped out of the morbidly obese into the obese category.

I suffer from anxiety and cannot stop worrying about what damage i have done to myself. I feel the best way to deal with that is to take control so I know I am doing something about it.

I have had a very stressful few years with DS who has autism and related mental health problems. He's still not great but I am at least at a point where i can start thinking of myself a bit more.

We don't have a car anymore as it broke down and I can't afford to replace it, but this is good as I now walk or bus everywhere and feel a lot fitter for it. My main aim is to go out for a walk every day and if I'm just walking to the shop to go the long way round.

Diet wise i am going to concentrate on eating three sensible meals a day and plenty of fruit and veg. I have tried so many different ways of counting and measuring only to give up. I know what's healthy and what's not. I need to focus on portion control the most i think.

AFridgeTooFar · 27/12/2018 15:25

SusanWalker not diet related, but...

The Nickname.

Coupling fan?

SpikyHedgehogg · 27/12/2018 15:52

FATEdestiny thanks for sharing your diet and what works for you.

I have some background reading to enjoy - The Goddess Revolution and The Binge Code. I'm hoping that these give me some insight in to one of main reasons for being overweight, emotional eating.

cupboardwithashelf · 27/12/2018 15:54

I'm in. Currently 17 stone, want to get down to 9, preferably 8. I'm five foot. I have PCOS and am on hiatus from ttc to shake off weight I've gained over the last year mostly through PCOS and depression symptoms. I'm aiming to get down to 10 stone by the end of the year but we'll see what happens!

SusanWalker · 27/12/2018 16:08

AFridgeTooFar No - Arthur Ransome, when my anxiety is very bad I read vintage children's books and Arthur Ransome books are some of my favourite.

AFridgeTooFar · 27/12/2018 16:15

Susan I'm sorry. Hope you're not offended ❤

I listen to crappy bubblegum pop when I'm stressed/anxious I'm a musician, and if I put on anything "deeper" I tend to start analysing it, noting key changes and the like, which bakes my head even more!

SusanWalker · 27/12/2018 16:31

Of course I'm not offended. I tend to listen to nineties music to cheer me up and remind me of my carefree younger years, but then I'm not very musical - my flute teacher gave a sigh of relief when I gave up!

StealthNinjaMum · 27/12/2018 18:40

Can I join in please? I had started a diet in November and lost a stone. I indulged a bit Christmas Eve and Boxing Day and am terrified of weighing myself but would like to focus now. Monday will be my weigh in day.

I am just under 11st but would like to be 8 1/2 to 9 st.

TodoDoingDone · 27/12/2018 19:00

Can I join too? Got 1- 1.5 stone to lose. It's the bastard menopause here too. Gaining weight steadily just makes me more grumpy than normal. I'm going to go low sugar, low carbs, low snacks at first.

Inewd to get cardio into my life. I'd love to get back into running, but not sure how to do it with work and family. Even a fitness DVD at home would be hard to find time for. How do others do it?

BeetlebumShesAGun · 27/12/2018 19:05

May I join please?

I lost 12lbs in October/November on Exante - VLCD and I didn’t struggle, only problem was I turned 30 in November, came off for my multiple birthday celebrations and then thought fuck it, it’s almost Christmas now so I really wouldn’t be surprised if I have put it all back on plus more!

Weigh in will be New Years Eve but I’m estimating I will have around 2/2.5 stones to lose.

My plan is to go back on Exante, then combine Slimming World with calorie counting and exercise to maintain.

AFridgeTooFar · 28/12/2018 04:49

You're ALL going to think I'm on glue...but I BOUGHT a full length mirror yesterday- for the sole purpose of taking progress photos!

AFridgeTooFar · 28/12/2018 04:50

His knows where the caps lock came from on some of those words! Sorry!

FiveShelties · 28/12/2018 07:56

Can I join too? I spent last year gaining and losing the same few pounds.

Weighed in this morning at 10st 10 lbs, a nice round 150lbs - so annoyed with myself, especially as I can blame no-one else! I want to be 9st 12lbs so 12 lbs to lose. Have two more social things before 1st January so am just aiming not to gain anymore before 2019. I have 9 weeks to go before I return to UK for a month and I don't want everyone to be telling me how well I look.

Planning to drink more water and less wine. No more crisps, dips, Christmas cake etc etc. At least 10,000 steps a day and less sitting around.

wizzler · 28/12/2018 09:14

I'm in.
13 stone and need to lose 2.5
I know I am high risk for type 2 diabetes, I am out of breath walking up stairs and I have heartburn. I absolutely need to do something.

I like the milestones that Fate has posted... I think I will do the same...and it's back to Boots for a weekly weigh in.
