Anyone in?

Im doing dry jan which will help, better meal planning, and upping the water intake. No official "plan" in mind yet but will look to choosing one soon.

Im weighing in Jan1st, currently just shy of 14stone. I need to hit 9 1/2 to hit a healthy BMI.

Can I join? 3 stone to lose. I am planning on SW type meal planning but also logging on MFP. I'm also thinking about C25K. Nothing specific to aim for in 2019 but my goal is to swan around looking effortlessly stylish and slim by July.

SpikyHedgehogg · 24/12/2018 21:32

So many similarities with people here!
I'm looking at 40 at the end of next year,. This year I got myself in to a good place financially and professionally, but I've gone up a couple of dress sizes. I would like 2020 to be at my fittest yet.

I'll be following a "Michael Mosley" approach which for me personally means cutting out the damn sugar and upping the protein, beneficial fats and lots and lots of veggies. In January I'm trying to adopt his "Clever Guts" phase 1 stuff and focus on nurturing my poor insides.

Fasting works for me but I need to learn how to eat around chaotic work patterns and in a way that supports my weight lifting. I need to add a bit of cardio in too.

TidyDancer · 25/12/2018 07:10

Thank you @BurningTheToast! Determined to make it stick in 2019!

ItsalmostSummer · 25/12/2018 07:57

I’m joining you all. I’m
Not sure what I’m following to get healthier yet but I refute it want to get back into running. Probably MFP and C25K again. I love it and miss it.

HermioneWeasley · 25/12/2018 17:25

Aargh, I’m back up to my heaviest ever weight and GP says she’ll take me off my meds if 8 don’t shift some weight. Christmas has not helped. Stuff I used to do to lose weight not having any impact. Am going to have to get seriously serious.

Chrissmasjammies · 25/12/2018 18:18

Me too! Am about 11 stone 11 at 5 foot 3 and like OP my goal weight is 9 st 7 by my 40th in May or to be sub 10 by then.

KateGrey · 25/12/2018 18:20

I must be around 15 stone and I feel disgusting. Ideally would like to lose at least five stone. I’m mid 30s and I can’t afford to keep putting it off as I have young kids. I feel vile and under confident. 2019 is the year I make real change.

HalloumiGus · 25/12/2018 18:29

Disgustedly signing up.

MrsAndrewEldritch · 25/12/2018 19:09

Day 1 tomorrow.

I intend on trying to log my daily calories and exercise. If i have to post here every day, will help hold me to account.

I plan to do 8 weeks of low calorie (600) plus 20 minutes on the water rower each day (26/12/18 to 20/02/19).

Then phase in meal plans starting at 1000 calories moving to 1500 ish calories and up the exercise for weeks 9 to 20. I can eat 1500 before i lose or gain with no exercising.

By the end of 20 weeks (15 May) i aim to have lost the weight and established and embedded healthy eating/exercise routine to make a proper lifestyle change over the next 6 months (ish).

What i am hoping to achieve:

Lose at least 2.5 stone in weight
Get fitter
Establish healthy eating and exercise regime to maintain going forward.

abbsisspartacus · 25/12/2018 19:12

Checking in here I'm already off to a good start bloody stomach virus

hendricksy · 25/12/2018 19:21

Can I join in? Could do with losing 3 stone really 🙄

Xenadog · 25/12/2018 20:00

Hey all, I’d like to to join in with this thread, and weight loss obviously. I’ve been attending an intelligent weight loss group which basically follows Patrick Holford’s Low GL programme.

I’ve got the tools and just need to get my head and (fat) arse into gear. I need to lose about 4 stone - possibly more. Going to dig my Davina and 30 Day Shred DVDs out and aim to do three a week to begin with.

I would like to lose 2 stone by my birthday in May (more would be great but I’m not going to put one much pressure on myself) and just feel healthier.

What helps to keep you motivated? MIL bought me new PJs for Christmas, they’re a bigger size than I normally wear but made me think maybe I look bigger than I actually am. That’s motivating me!

danni0509 · 25/12/2018 20:03

Count me in.

Started 1st Jan 2018 lost 2 stone by the may.

From may to now put 3 stone on Angry

Starting again 1st Jan 2019.

I stopped smoking November too so that's not helped.

motortroll · 25/12/2018 20:07

3 stone to lose here. I'm in!

RedPandaMama · 25/12/2018 20:10

Can I join? Desperately need to do this for my own health. I'm only young and it's worrying me how overweight I am. NEED to lose 3 stone, WANT to lose 4 stone, GOAL of losing 5 stone.

Chrissmasjammies · 25/12/2018 20:14

FATEdestiny well done to you and your husband that's an amazing lifestyle change. Can I ask what typically would be? By no processed carbs or saturated fat do you mean no bread dairy or red meat?

SweetAsSpice · 25/12/2018 20:44

I'm in! I am. I am currently 15st and want to get down to at least 11.5 (would love 10.5!). Piled on the weight over the last 4 years and struggled to find the willpower to stop eating junk. Go back to work in June after Matty leave and need to fit back into my work clothes by then!

dementedma · 25/12/2018 20:57

saw a picture taken today of me cooking Christmas lunch...oh dear God!
I am SO up for this. Going to weigh, and more importantly measure, on 31st of Dec. Sometimes its the inches that show better than the poundage.
I desperately need to make 2019 my year for personal reasons so looking forward to being part of this.

RaskolnikovsGarret · 25/12/2018 21:04

Thanks. Signing in. Need to lose 7 to 10 pounds. Hoping to lose nearly 7 by the time I go back to work on 7 Jan, through low carb /eggs/water etc. Need to stop the Christmas chocolates.

Will start on Thursday I think.

mynaughtylittlesister · 25/12/2018 21:06

Me! so far I have lost 4kg in the last 3ish weeks. I have tried to be careful these last few days but it has been so hard.

ButtMuncher · 25/12/2018 21:50

I'm in. Need to lose about 8/8.5 stone. Annoying lost tonnes of weight about five years ago and got to a lovely size and maintained for ages before having my son 2.5 years ago - pregnancy was tough and had PND and slowly piled all the weight back on Angry

Joining SW day after NY. Know the plan works and looking forward to it. Going to plan on upping my exercise incrementally and once I've lost 3 stone return back to the gym because right now I am so unbearably unfit I couldn't bear to be seen in public exercising Grin

FATEdestiny · 25/12/2018 22:47

FATEdestiny well done to you and your husband that's an amazing lifestyle change. Can I ask what typically would be? By no processed carbs or saturated fat do you mean no bread dairy or red meat?

Thank you Blush

I've really enjoyed this year. Today I did a 7km run, yesterday a 10 mile (16km) run, and can wear slinky size 8 dresses - completely unthinkable compared to the size 24 unfit morbidly obese woman I was last Christmas eve and Christmas day.

By no processed carbs I mean I only eat wholegrain / wholefood carbs - so oats and rice or carbs that are in veg or fruit, but not bread, pasta for example. And not things like biscuits, cakes and whatnot (well, except at Christmas! Xmas Smile) on the basis that they are processed foods.

By no saturated fat I mean I go for low fat options where possible - all dairy, cut fat off meat or buy lean cuts. But I do eat some healthy fats from foods like nuts, nut butters, avocado and so on

HTH

Good luck everyone starting their journey this year!
