Anyone in?

Im doing dry jan which will help, better meal planning, and upping the water intake. No official "plan" in mind yet but will look to choosing one soon.

Im weighing in Jan1st, currently just shy of 14stone. I need to hit 9 1/2 to hit a healthy BMI.

Me too - I need to lose 5 and a half stone. I lost my Dad two days ago. Both he and my mum (who died in 2016) had their lives massively curtailed by illness (not weight related) in their last 10 years or so. It makes me feel like I need to make the most of being (relatively) young still and having reasonable health.

CmdrIvanova · 23/12/2018 13:06

Me. I am going to cut out sugar and snacking. That is all. No eating between meals or after I put the kids to bed.

maxisinapaddy · 23/12/2018 15:37

I'm in, I am 11st and want to lose 2st and get fit. Will start on January the first, going to kick start by going sugar and alcohol free for January. I'm going to follow a whole food, low carb diet with time restricted eating starting at 8.30am and stopping eating at 6.30pm which gives a ten hour eating window and more importantly a 14 hour non eating window to give my body a break! I'm also going to try and hit 10,000 steps a day. Wow that's a lot of goals...good luck all

CarrotPuff · 23/12/2018 15:41

I'm in. Need to lose over 2st. DD is nearly 3 so can't blame it on baby weight anymore!

Jennifer1150 · 23/12/2018 15:43

I'm going to do Dry Jan too. Have you tried any of the drinks from this page? - healthydrinksreview.blog/2018/12/22/best-drink-ideas-for-dry-january/

CarrotPuff · 23/12/2018 16:02

Ofchris sorry about your loss ❤️ hope you have a lot of family support around you

CarrotPuff · 23/12/2018 16:06

Cabin try c25k, it's great and builds up very gently. I'm on week 8 at the moment although haven't really run in December at all due to different bugs and viruses.

My plan is to skip breakfast (I don't eat it most days anyway), and just have 2 healthy meals a day. No snacking and treats only on weekends.

Also need to keep running and build in some strength exercise too.

And drink lots of water!

Going to start on 27th as NYE isn't big for us anyway due to small DC.

sar302 · 23/12/2018 17:29

Joining in please! I have lost two stone in the last 6 months, and have a further three to go.

I've spent the last year in physio, but now strong enough to do walking, cycling and some Pilates. I'm hoping this will help!

Current weight around 13.11. I shall weigh in on Jan 2nd, which is my SW weigh in day...

Fingers crossed for 2019 🤞🏻

MerryGinmas · 23/12/2018 17:36

Can I join? I had lost a stone and a half over the last year or so. 4lbs back on over the past 3 weeks as I've had a couple of ops. Most recent was hysterectomy and I still have a lot of swelling. Hopefully by early January I'll be feeling well enough to begin focussing on my weight/ hoping to be ready to exercise more by march.

Hoping to lose 3 or 4 stone.

meow1989 · 23/12/2018 19:01

Please can I join? Since having DS in June I now weigh more than when I was pregnant 😳

I weigh 10 and a half stone on would ideally like to be between 8 and a half to 9.

I've never dieted before and have found the NHS 12 week weight loss plan so will try that. I don't drink much alcohol so dry January any help really. I'm going to try to walk into town (3 mile round trip) with Ds at least twice a week.

dementedma · 23/12/2018 21:28

menopause is a bastard. i am now barrel shaped and hate it!

teacakes44 · 24/12/2018 05:15

Me too! 48 & well into the menopause. Can’t control my sweet tooth & feeling lumpy!

DarienGap · 24/12/2018 05:41

I'm in!
Last time I got weighed I was about 18stone. I've put on more since then Sad
But I've noticed I'm getting out of breath more easily so it's scared me into planning to lose weight.
I have pcos and am in peri so it's tough to resist carbs but I am going to do it!!!!

MarcieBluebell · 24/12/2018 05:48

*fatedestiny

It's so great to hear your success and without promoting a fad diet. Huge welldone for your grit, determination and patience.

Neoflex · 24/12/2018 06:11

I am in! Hoping to lose 3 stone or to get back in a size 10, whatever happens first

GreyandGrumpy48 · 24/12/2018 09:44

I am in! Hoping to lose 3 and a half stone and lose at least one of them before I go away in mid March

MrsSlocombesPussy · 24/12/2018 10:18

I'd like to join, I've been struggling with my weight for a while now. I broke my ankle in the summer so since then I've put even more weight on. Have about 5 to 6 stone to lose.
Here's what I plan to do:
5:2 diet
Healthy eating on non fast days.
Go for a walk as often as I can, build up number of steps to 10000
Start going to the gym again to do cardio and some weight training

I'm starting from such a low point in terms of physical activity - I'm going to have to build up gradually.
Menopause is a bastard!

BurningTheToast · 24/12/2018 10:27

I'm in.

Peri-menopausal, high blood pressure and horribly unfit. But I'll be 50 in just over a year and I'm determined to be in a better place by then.

I'd like to lose a load of weight but the getting fitter thing is my priority to start with. I've noticed that I avoid doing things because I don't want people to see how unfit I am. Professionally, I'm in a really good place; my marriage is strong; DC at university and I have some great opportunities ahead of me that I want to make the most of.

Also, I recently found out that an old friend is quite possibly terminally ill now and it's been a wake up call - none of know how long we've got so you need to make the most of life and not put off what you know you need to do.

I'm planning to get some exercise most days - just starting with walking and Pilates. And we're going to eat more conciously - we cook from scratch etc but I know that it's too easy to go for carb and cheese-heavy options, especially in the winter. And I'm cutting out the wine, at least for January.

sherrysfortea · 24/12/2018 10:29

Yes I'm in!!!! Two stone to lose

RJnomore1 · 24/12/2018 10:31

I'm in. I changed jobs 7 weeks ago and started a new approach to life. I've lost 16 pounds since then and I'm much fitter.

Trying to maintain over Xmas rather than anything else but I'd like to drop a few more stone and get lifting big again next year (weights are the thing that spark me)

It would be good to have a wee check in on here.

TidyDancer · 24/12/2018 13:12

Can I play? I have lost nearly three stone in the last four months so I'm getting there but I need to lose a lot more, probably another 6 stone. I know food wise what works with me but I'm going to join the gym in the new year and I have found a good personal trainer to get things started with.

BurningTheToast · 24/12/2018 13:27

Three stone so far is amazing @Tidy - well done!

Lulutheboss · 24/12/2018 19:19

Me too please. Three stone to lose or get back into a 10/12.
I quite resistant to losing weight so it’s going to be hard going!
