Anyone in?

Im doing dry jan which will help, better meal planning, and upping the water intake. No official "plan" in mind yet but will look to choosing one soon.

Im weighing in Jan1st, currently just shy of 14stone. I need to hit 9 1/2 to hit a healthy BMI.

@AFridgeTooFar sorry to hear you have been unwell 💐 I would just weigh in as normal tomorrow. Log the last known weight as well.

I don't think I will lose next week but I am still weighing in. My parents are visiting - I haven't seen them for nearly 4 months. There will be meals out and celebrating. I plan to make healthy choices but I will not be ultra strict. When I don't see great results on the scale next week I will know why, and that's ok. This journey needs to be a long term, sensible, lifestyle choice.

@TulipsInbloom1 I used to love millionaire Hoy but I think he has gone over to subscription only now 👎 Hasfit is good and also The Bodycoach workouts. If I think of more I will let you know.

See you in the morning over on the other thread for our first weigh in. Xxx

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 05:27

Well exactly...I refuse to let a potential non-loss put me off!

If I'm weighing every week, I'll probably see a non-loss one week out of every four anyway. AF brings about 7lb of water weight with her. I'm in two minds whether to even weigh in those weeks, if nobody objects?

Anyhoo....on the first day of New Year, my fat love gave to meeee...

15st 7lb!

I'll take the 7lb loss from last week with a pinch of low-sodium salt, due to yesterday's illness...

Onwards and downwards! 🤣🤣

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 01/01/2019 06:52

Making - I think that’s the right attitude! As long as you’re prepared and don’t let a bad week on the scales next week throw you for the rest of the year. It’s all about the long term changes Smile.

Fridge - At least you know (roughly) what your starting weight is. Good luck over the first few weeks. It’s torally ok not to weigh on AF weeks! There will be weeks I won’t weigh/post because...well...life!

Starting off at 12 stone 6. It makes me sad because I was down to 12 stone 2 a few months ago, having painstakingly lost 3 stone of baby weight Sad. I’ve also been pretty good over Christmas, so feel I deserve to be back to 12.2 for being such a god damn angel Grin.

Anyway, initial goal which will be SUPER HARD for me, is to lose 6lbs in 6 weeks as I have an event then.

Good luck everyone else!

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 07:13

I've broken mine down into ten blocks of 8.4lb...it doesn't seem so daunting that way!

First goal: 15st 5.5lb. If I work my ass off, I should hit this by next Tuesday's weigh in!

I've planned my menu for the day. Some may find it unhealthy to skip breakfast...but meh! I can't actually justify forcing food down my throat just because it's "the norm" iyswim? I'll drink my usual pint of hazelnut milk, though.

Lunch: baked sweet potato, with a tbsp of vegan cream cheese, spinach and broccolli (308cal)

Dinner: v sausage stew thing with three sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, jalepenos and shallots, and a portion of cauli rice (515cals)

Snacks: unsalted cashews as and when I need them. (400cals)

It seems wrong, somehow, to be taking in almost 1/3 of my calories by snacking...but I feel that this will work for me. I only really added them to get my calorie intake to an acceptable level! I could have added a packet of crisps, but I don't want empty calories.

mrbob · 01/01/2019 07:19

I think mini goals is great! And reward yourself for each one with something which will help (I was thinking new running pants for my first 5kg)

tryinganewname · 01/01/2019 07:21

I'm in.

Had DD in July and had lost 56lb as of 5th November - that's the last tome I recorded weight but I believe I was still at this loss at the beginning of December too.

I did this through a mixture of healthy eating but then I needed more structure so started WW in September.

Not weighed in post Xmas but will face up to it tomorrow. Plan for today is 3 healthy meals, no chocolate/treats (which are all gone bar some vegan ice cream), plenty of water and a walk. I'm not tracking points today but just instilling the healthy habits again.

I go back to work in April so I would love to be 2 stone down by then at least. This is my year.

I feel SO much better when in control so I'm not sure why I allow myself to go so far off course.

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 07:22

Oh, I intend to!

This year is not just about weight loss for me- it's about feeling better in me. Taking care of my hair/skin/nails etc?

Speaking of which...can anyone reccommend a brand of paint on nail strengthener? This will be my first reward for getting down to 15.5.

NewFitMe · 01/01/2019 07:29

So I was 81.1kg this morning. And a quick google shows it’s about 12 stone 7. Do we posts weigh in results here or in the other thread? I’m doing 16:8. I’ve been doing it for nearly a week and my sleep has improved drastically! I’m normally such a bad sleeper and now I sleep like a log. It’s amazing. And I’m not hungry constantly like I used to be. afridgetoofar I too skip breakfast :)

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 07:37

We're posting our weights on the other thread too- but I'll still be posting mine here as well, because I'm a PITA 🤣

NewFitMe does 16:8 mean that you eat all your calories in eight hours? Or sixteen? Because this actually REALLY appeals to me! I'm going to be messing around with food a little, to see what works for me.

Why it appeals the most is that, on Thursdays, I have a ten hour shift at work. I HATE eating in the office, so have usually grabbed a veggie sub at lunchtime! Of course this is out now.

I think I could cope with just one big meal on a Thursday! Hunger doesn't bother me at all.

What do you think?

mrbob · 01/01/2019 07:49

Can you eat somewhere out of the office? Or take a protein shake type thing? If not then I guess you can just have a REALLY long fast day!

I am at the end of day 1 here and surprisingly still excited! I am sure the novelty will wear off but I feel a lot more motivated about this than I have in a long time.

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 07:53

You got this!!!

Yeah, Day Four is always my downfall for some reason! So I'll need a kick up the butt on Friday!!!

WhenCanISleepAgain · 01/01/2019 08:07

Checking in at the start of the year at 14 stone 11 (207 lbs). I gained about 2lbs over Christmas. First goal is under 200lbs which is very close to my pre-pregnancy weight and would mean I’ve lost my first stone since starting in November. That’s also mean I’ve lost 5% of my total starting weight. I’d love to get to reach that by the beginning of February as that’s DS’ first birthday. I’ve got just under 3 stone to lose overall to a healthy BMI but I find it very helpful to break it down into lots of much more manageable chunks.

TulipsInbloom1 · 01/01/2019 08:09

Weighed in on the other thread. Cup of hot water with lemon for me this morning. Am a tad stuffy so may help with that too.

OP posts:
NewFitMe · 01/01/2019 08:16

I eat all my calories in the 8 hour window. Mine is 10-6. I normally eat at 10, 2 and 4.30 but I’ve noticed I’m not really that hungry at the last meal so I’m thinking of trying eating at 10-11 and then 4. People on the 16:8 thread are saying they are only eating two meals a day so I might try that and see how I feel. I defo say try the 16:8 diet. I’ve done 5:2 in the past and loved it but thought I’d try something different. (Eat normally 5 days a week and fast 2 days a week. Can eat 500cals in fast days). It does wonders to body. If you google intermittent fasting you’ll find plenty of benefits. ATM I’m eating whatever really in the eating window but I’m slowly making better choices and skipping sweets and stuff. Like yesterday my OH make kinder cheesecake and I didn’t want to even tasty it!! Normally I would’ve scoffed it all

NewFitMe · 01/01/2019 08:20

Also fridge ( don’t know how to do the bold letters) if you feel ok, having one meal a day on Thursday is fine. Especially if you do IF anyway you might not even really feel the hunger. I’m thinking when my weight loss stalls, incorporate one fast day on top the 16:8. We’ll see when I get to that stage. I’m sure this time I will reach my goal weight and I’m so motivated. Thanks everyone!!

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 08:24

If I were to do 16:8, I'd do 12pm-8pm. This would fit in with my usual routine anyway!

And I'll definitely be taking my lunch hour outside the office now. I'll find somewhere outside to eat lunch, and fit in a few steps while I'm at it!

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 08:26

I'd be scared of the 500cal thing, though. I used to restrict to that amount daily, and for me, it would be too "familliar" if that makes sense?

AandB201517 · 01/01/2019 08:57

Can I join? (A bit late , I know)

Weighed myself this morning. 15st 7lb Sad
3-4 stone to lose with a plan of less refined sugar, eating healthier and more exercise

Currently deciding on an exercise dvd

Only problem is that they say eating breakfast is vital to losing weight, but I can’t stomach it.

Lilybobtail13 · 01/01/2019 09:06

Just weighed in 12 stone, need to lose 2 but my plan is not to be too restrictive but to exercise, cut out crisps/chocolate and generally eat healthier. I've signed up to Redjanuary and kicking off with a family New Year's Day walk today. Good luck to everyone else making any positive changes, let's hope we can find the motivation to stick with it!

mrbob · 01/01/2019 09:08

AandB you don’t HAVE to eat breakfast. Why not do that 16:8 fast thing then you are totally allowed to skip! You have to do somethingthat you can sustain rather than something which will make you miserable

StealthNinjaMum · 01/01/2019 09:11

Hello, not been on for a while. I'm really inspired by all the motivated ladies on this thread.

I am weighing in at 150.6lbs. I have lost a stone since November and feel fantastic. I am measuring myself too but sadly didn't do it before I started as I find seeing my waist / bum shrink is as motivating as a weightloss. i have always been largeish and 6 years ago dieted down to a size 8. It was the happiest I've been so my target is 125lbs. In the next month I just want to get down to 145lbs so that my bmi is no longer overweight.

MutantDisco · 01/01/2019 09:12

@FATEdestiny You're totally inspirational!!! StarStarStar

NewFitMe · 01/01/2019 09:15

I know what you mean about the 500cal thing. When I did 5:2 I didn’t eat anything on the fast days. I just found it easier.

I think the whole eat breakfast thing is that if you have tendency to binge in the evening, then eating breakfast might help with that. If I eat breakfast, it just makes me so hungry for the whole day. I’d recommend googling the benefits of IF. On the 16:8 thread there’s loads of info
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/fasting_diet/2905869-16-8-diet
They really recommend listening to dr Jason fung on YouTube 😁

AandB201517 · 01/01/2019 09:23

mrbob and newfitme yeah, I was thinking of doing an OMAD/IF type thing again, still thinking though.

No, there’s no way I’m EVER eating breakfast! Grin
