Anyone in?

Im doing dry jan which will help, better meal planning, and upping the water intake. No official "plan" in mind yet but will look to choosing one soon.

Im weighing in Jan1st, currently just shy of 14stone. I need to hit 9 1/2 to hit a healthy BMI.

Magnificentbeast with you on all accounts. Also menopause (post), and want to do c25k. I'm starting with daily walks to get used to daily exercise and will also tackle garden. Aiming for 30 mins a day. I'm more overweight though. Need to lose 4 stone. I look ghastly not a bit plump but fat and feel very unhealthy. So sad. Starting in earnest nw when teens back at skl.

Pennina · 31/12/2018 08:59

OP - shall we all do a weekly weigh in? Or shall we all just chat/share/support as posters feel comfortable?

HJWT · 31/12/2018 09:02

CAN I JOIN? Grin

Iv put 8 pounds on this month WTFFFFFFFFBlush

AFridgeTooFar · 31/12/2018 10:53

Anyone having a last binge today? 🤣

AFridgeTooFar · 31/12/2018 11:03

I've batch cooked five portions of my curry base.

I've filled out my meals until Thursday on MFP. It's all a little higher carb than I would have liked- but what did I really expect, as a vegan?

And I've yet to discover whether carbs are an actual issue for me, or whether it's just the carbs in a potato waffle shoved between two slices of bread, repeated several times, which are the problem! 😀

And none of it really falls into "bad carbs" either! A fucktonof veg, two sweet potatoes (not at once) and very little sugar.

After cutting out (in advance) all the junk, I'm actually struggling to get my calorie amount to over 1200...I've had to figure in a few spoonfuls of peanut butter, just to get them up.

SO excited!

HermioneWeasley · 31/12/2018 11:20

Aargh, shit just got real. Medication review with my GP NEXT WEEK. Am 12st 7lbs, which is higher than last time when she told me she’d have to take me off if I gained any more weight.

Aaaargh.

HJWT · 31/12/2018 11:22

@AFridgeTooFar yes chinese for Tea 🙄🙄🙄

mrbob · 31/12/2018 11:23

Only 2 hours to go here. Feel like I have wasted my last day of being able to eat crap as have been weirdly virtuous! Bet I will regret that in the morning Wink

AFridgeTooFar · 31/12/2018 11:25

Hermione but you're doing something about it now, right?

Don't beat yourself up!

AFridgeTooFar · 31/12/2018 11:35

Ok, so slight dilemma (and extremely TMI- sorry!)

So DH accidentally mixed up the pancakes this morning. I ate an eggful one (allergic to eggs and dairy) and (SORRY) I've been puking and shitting since.

This is going to give me a false reading tomorrow, isn't it? As a recovering bulimic, ex laxative addict, I know I can drop about 6lb of water weight iyswim?

I don't want to skip weigh in.

Do I down a few pints of water before I weigh? Or just expect no "loss" in the first week?

Neoflex · 31/12/2018 11:49

Just catching up on the posts and it's motivating me.
This morning some trousers I arrived that I had ordered in Europe size 40 (14) but it turns out they were an Italian 40 which is actually a size 10. I'm keeping them as my motivation trousers.
Part of my weight loss problem is I am breastfeeding and I keep using it as an excuse why I can't lose weight so I have decided to stop breastfeeding as well. My daughter is 1 and she is eating food and takes the bottle but just wants boob at night. So it's time to stop. In an ideal world I would continue but being overweight is making me miserable and I want to be my confident old self. Right now I still look pregnant and wear my maternity clothes.
We got a the Bosch autocook for Christmas. Anybody doing slow cooker recipes to lose weight?

CarrotPuff · 31/12/2018 17:43

Fridge I don't think it matters wether or not you have a "false reading". You have to start somewhere, so just start from whatever it says.

I've got a new slow cooker too, haven't used it yet though, so will have to look into how it actually works!

Magnificentbeast · 31/12/2018 17:45

@Pennina I braved the scales this morning and it's 11lbs 😩 worse than I thought. I'm sure it's at least partly menopause related. I had a premature menopause and I'm still cross about it! It's just really shit - aches, pains, insomnia in the early days, anxiety, poor concentration and memory and effing weight gain that's so hard to shift.

I've decided I'm going to stick to losing 2 stones though for now and see how it goes. Small steps!

I did a week one C25K run this morning just to be sure it's still doable! It was so that's a good start.

I'm going to concentrate on healthy eating and portions sizes. The whole low carb thing is beyond me at the moment. Once I see some progress it'll be good motivation.

SusanWalker · 31/12/2018 17:53

I'm starting tomorrow now with everyone else. I have a rotten cold and DS is not sleeping at all at the moment. I am mainly drinking tea today and not eating much anyway. I might try a honey and lemon in a minute. Hopefully I'll feel a bit better tomorrow.

What non scale goals do people have? I want to:

Buy something in Primark that isn't leggings, t shirts or socks.

Feel fitter and have that feeling where you feel too energetic to sit down all the time.

Improve my asthma. It's not too bad, but it will surely get better as I lose weight.

Not feel ashamed going to the doctors.

Stop avoiding seeing myself in a mirror.

Be really fit as I have a dream of one day visiting Pompeii and would like to be fit enough to be able to walk around and enjoy it, rather than feeling uncomfortable.

AFridgeTooFar · 31/12/2018 17:58

Non Scale Goals

To buy a swimsuit, and be ok with wearing it!

To buy jeans in a size 14.

To be able to wear my favorite calf length boots again. They won't fit over my legs atm.

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 31/12/2018 18:04

Fridge - when was the last time you weighed? What did you weigh? Maybe just put that weight for this week? I totally get that it will be deflating a week tomorrow if the scales say you have gained weight, when in fact you have lost weight but your first week’s reading was inaccurate.

Those sound like good non-scale goals Smile. Personally I would like to:

  • get fitter (comfortably run 10k and definitely 5k);
  • get some photos of me with the kids while they are small. I avoid the camera at all costs and it makes me sad that they won’t have many photos of us to look back on;
  • buy some clothes I feel good in (not just slobbing in maternity clothes!!!).

Good luck for 2019 everyone!

AFridgeTooFar · 31/12/2018 18:31

I'm 224lb- 16 stone. (Well I was!)

I feel a fuckload better now, though
I'm drinking a lot of water.

I've decided I will weigh tomorrow. I need to learn not to be disheartened if the scales don't budge...if I experience this early on (ie, next week) it'll be another "first"...another mini achievement.

I'm sort of hoping it happens now! Does that sound stupid? 🤣

Another NSG...to build up to walking the six miles to work on a Thursday and Friday. I'm already plan to burn off 100-200 calories a day through exercise (that's a mile's walk for me...start small!)

Has anyone worked out their calorie allowance yet? My Excel spreadsheet tells me what my TDEE is when I update my weight in the first column. My aim for now is to land 800 under this number. So it's about 1400 this week.

HJWT · 31/12/2018 19:31

Well iv had my final meal 🙄 i couldn't even eat it that fat it just would not go in!! Cant wait to feel STARVING hungry tomorrow all day !! I got a chillys water bottle for christmas ! Best invention ever its £20 but i cant drink water unless its ice cold and this keeps it cold for 24 hours!!!

mrbob · 31/12/2018 19:38

NSG
Run 5k then 10K comfortably
Leave the house feeling proud of how I look rather than aiming for damage limitation
Get back in a size 14
Find a hot young man who will appreciate all of the above and who I don’t mind seeing me naked!

AFridgeTooFar · 31/12/2018 19:46

I'm buzzed that there are a load of people on this thread with more to lose than me!

Because I'll be able to see you reach your goals...and be motivated into not stopping until I reach mine!

My first Mini Goal is 15st 5. I have to lose ten lots of 8.4lb, so I'll be 10% of the way there!

If I can lose 1.6lb a week, I'll be at my goal by the beginning of December!

AFridgeTooFar · 31/12/2018 19:59

Can I add another NSG please?

I aim to update my blog at every opportunity.

When I first made the decision to fix up, I searched for things like "I lost 7st in a year" and "lost half of your body weight". Some of the stories I read were so inspirational! They've helped...a lot!

I want to be That Person. If I can help, inspire, whatever, one other person by documenting my progress, the last decade won't have been a waste of health.

TulipsInbloom1 · 31/12/2018 20:10

NSG1 - meal plan and shop accordingly.
NSG2 - walk to work twice a week minimum (4miles)
NSG3 - drink water every day, at least 1l. I drink nowhere near that.

Breakfast tomorrow will be one slice of 50/50 bread, mashed avo, poached egg. Tiny dollop of HP. Water.

I need a decent alternative to tea with milk.

Can anyone recommend any Youtube fitness vids?

AFridgeTooFar · 31/12/2018 20:23

Tulip it's not a YouTube video, but have you taken a look at some of the "Prison Workout" apps? They basically show you how to exercise using nothing but your own body weight as resistance?
