Anyone in?

Im doing dry jan which will help, better meal planning, and upping the water intake. No official "plan" in mind yet but will look to choosing one soon.

Im weighing in Jan1st, currently just shy of 14stone. I need to hit 9 1/2 to hit a healthy BMI.

Weigh in 12:6 this morning. Probably just normal fluctuations, but after a few days of being seriously disciplined and dragging myself to the gym I feel rewarded!

If I carry on like this I could be 12:4 for my medication reviewnext week, which is about what I was last time, so they should let me continue. That’s the first goal! Next is to get under 12 stone. Then I’d like to be 11:7 because my clothes(and watch) will fit.

Happy New Year!
Aand There's quite a lot of new research now and the 'you must eat breakfast if you want to lose weight' line seems to be a total myth.
I had some success with 5:2 last year and found it very family friendly. The only problem I found was that, if I didn't count calories on non-fast days, it was very easy to eat back any deficit. And I really don't want to count calories as I don't think that it does me any long-term good at all. I also found it quite difficult to fit around times that I wanted to go for a run or do a longer exercise class... I really liked the fasting element, though, so would like to find some way of fitting it back in....

CarrotPuff · 01/01/2019 09:47

NewFitMe I used to do 5:2 too, and it really worked, but then got PND and couldn't really cope mentally with fast days anymore. I'm better now, and I still have a fast day occasionally, when I don't feel that hungry at lunch time (I don't eat breakfast).

Fridge IF isn't really recommended if you have history of EDs, but 16:8 should be ok for you. Personally, I love it!

AandB, it's never too late, hop aboard!

Weighed in at 11.2 this morning. First mini target to get into 10st bracket by mid-Jan.

TheHoundsofLove · 01/01/2019 09:49

Fridge I like your method of splitting your overall target into tenths - makes it sound much more achievable! In an ideal world, I want to lose 10 lots of 5lbs! Grin

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 09:52

Well I've just spent a very entertaining hour blocking Juice Plus reps from my Twitter feed! Fuck that shite RIGHT off! No fads...no Shit Shake, or Maketh-Me-Unfat, or Piss Off...HARD FUCKING GRAFT!!! Me being me, I couldn't just quietly block...um...I may have been a little rude. .

Being short is actually going to cause me a few issues. Nothing I can't handle...but, the closer I get to my GW, the lower my TDEE is going to be (1300 to MAINTAIN at some point!)

Far, far from panicking, I'm actually seeing this as a good thing!! Upthread I mentioned that I want to burn off 100 calories a day? Well when my calorie allowance goes below that healthy 1200, I've got two choices. 1. Starve. 2. Remain at around 200, and up my exercise intake by just 50 calories a day! That seems like buggar all! It's like a half mile walk! I can fit that in!

I was going to up my exercises only when I felt "comfortable". But the fact that it's just become mandatory actually appeals to Mr as an Aspie...it's regimented, and it's numbers, and it's routine!

Mini NSG for today. Make room on my bedroom floor (look at my "Before" photos...it's a pigsty!🤣) so I have room to use my Wondercore in front of the TV. It's been used like three times since I bought it last year...what a waste of money!

Plus, if I clean like he'll, it'll count toward my 100cal goal today! Christ, I may even get the polish out!

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 09:53

Loving how many breakfast rebels there are on here! 🤣

poloves · 01/01/2019 09:53

I'm starting 16:8 today 🤞🏻

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 09:59

Would anyone be up for a secret Facebook group?

Whatevszz · 01/01/2019 09:59

Sorry I'm late to the thread, just checking in. Bought some scales at argos yesterday, too scared to use them but no point putting it off. Have piled on the weight cos of stressful house move.

Oblomov18 · 01/01/2019 09:59

I'm in. Need to lose 2 stone. Did, but then put it back on. Will try again. Plus Dry January.

Whatevszz · 01/01/2019 10:02

Motivation is that I turn 40 next year (2020) so want to look/feel good for that. And I had gestational diabetes so am at a higher risk of type 2 diabetes so need to sort my weight out for that reason as well.

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 10:07

Whatevz just bite the bullet and do it...you'll get no judgement here.

My photos are doing the rounds on Instagram atm, so I do know how you feel. It's sobering! 🤣

NewFitMe · 01/01/2019 10:09

Fridge can I follow you on Instagram? I’ve just done an account for weight loss purpose

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 10:11

Sure! I only created my account two days ago too, so I'm kinda new to it! My name is "blimptoboss".

robynadair · 01/01/2019 10:17

Late to this but I'm up for change! Have about 4 stone to lose. Aim to do it by calorie counting ( using nutracheck app) low carb, high protein and plant based diet for 80% of the time. That will give me some slack for bad days although I don't want to slip into the good and bad food scenario so will need to think about what to call the days or meals when I indulge. Increase exercise. I've started C25K ( on week 4) and dusted off my bike yesterday for a 11 mile ride. Would love mutual support from here, Facebook or instagram Smile

makingithappen · 01/01/2019 10:19

@AFridgeTooFar I'm up for fb group.x

Selfishjeans · 01/01/2019 10:30

Can I join?
I finally braved the scales yesterday and I’m 11st 5, I would love to lose 2 stone but even getting a stone off would be so good. I’m 5’6 so I think that makes my BMI around 26. I would love to lose my huge flabby belly once and for all.
I am doing dry January and cutting out sugar. I am not the most athletic of people so for exercise I’m planning to walk a lot more and maybe even try jogging but I look like a proper clown when i run so I might do that under the cover of darkness. I already attend a few yoga classes each week and I’m going to add some home practice too.

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 10:30

robyn I'll be watching your posts with interest, if you don't mind...I'm plant based, and I need some inspiration!

I made a lush "chicken" curry the other day...tip: the Iceland brand of fake chicken has far less shite in it than quorn, or the Tesco brand! And it's on offer for (I think) £1.50 atm.

On that note, can I ask for advice re: the sausage stew I'm having for dinner? I'm happy to eat it as is- I'm one of those disgusting people who's happy to make a huge, floppy mess in a pan, and eat it as is!

But I want to write out the recipe too, to add to my site. How would I make it more appealing? Would half a can of mixed beans up the carbs by a fuckload? I eat smallish meals (shaddap you lot...Oreos are small too few!🤣). Would the amounts actually fill someone who eats normal, or large, sized meals?

Basically it's...

Three vegan sausages
Two shallots
One can of tomatoes
200g of mushrooms.
Garlic puree and herbs.

Served with cauli rice.

Would I need to add the beans for the "public" recipe?

Escolar · 01/01/2019 10:31

I'm another non breakfast eater. The thing is that eating breakfast is supposed to stop you getting hungrier later in the day but I don't find it works like that for me. So I just end up eating more (in total) if I've had breakfast!

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 10:36

It's American, not British (Not that that matters...I grew up in Maryland🤣. Just that you're not going to see Nineteen Stone Stella From Wigan) but "Cook Your Ass Off" is on Netflix atm. Watching while MNing cleaning.

mrbob · 01/01/2019 10:37

Ooh fridge I am vegan too and am going to steal that recipe! You could always say that is the low carb option but for more bulk add beans

AwdBovril · 01/01/2019 10:41

I am joining. I am already doing the NHS weight loss programme, & have started listening to my Paul McKenna track again. I need to lose about 2 stone, ideally. 1 stone loss would make me quite happy though.

Alongwaytogo · 01/01/2019 10:41

Hello everyone. Ive decided that this is the year I lose weight too. I'm 15 stone 5 atm and the heaviest I've ever been. And I hadn't noticed it happening. Or maybe I was in denial. But not anymore! I've created a weight loss Instagram and I'm looking to follow like minded individuals rather than the weight loss bits on there. I'm ayearto_go if anyone wants to have a nosey. Here's to 2019!

AwdBovril · 01/01/2019 10:42

Oh and I'm up for a FB group.

certainlymerry · 01/01/2019 10:42

I have rejoined MFP this morning. i didn't get to sleep till 5am , so that's not a good start, as I had toast at 5am and then cereal at 10 am. Half the day's calories already, so that's a bit depressing. In the past, I've found that I need to find a specific approach that works - i.e. calorie counted ready meals, no carbs or old fashioned calorie counting generally.
I am wondering whether to start off with Waitrose calorie counted ready meals, as I need to make it easy to begin with or I will fall off the wagon. The first few weeks are crucial for me . Once I've lost about half a stone I can keep going easily.
I would love to know what is working for others.
