The weather is definitely cooler, there's an air of autumn in the... well, air. Smile But we march on with our mission to lose weight. Stash those sandals, look out your best warming recipes and let's support each other to lose weight. Whatever your method, everyone is welcome!

Ah, congratulations, Hair - so pleased for you! After all the shit you had to deal with this is amazing!

I'm finally here, only 3 days late, to check in for September. I technically managed to lose 5lb in August, which is a record for me - if you gloss over the fact that I put on 6lb while I was on holiday at the start of the month so I was actually net up a Linda on JulyBlush

Last week wasn’t amazing for me. I suspect most of my issues (unusual hunger, emotional eating, fluid retention) were all driven by AF. But the good news is that my average for the week was the same as the week before, so while no progress, no damage done either, and my weight this morning was 0.5 of a Linda down on last Monday. So, now that I am AF free, I am ready to push on this week.

My diet wasn’t amazing at the weekend, but from a Paul McKenna standpoint, I did a pretty good job of not eating when I wasn’t hungry (only notable exception was a lemon meringue roulade-related incident when we had guests yesterday), and also fairly good for stopping when I was full. I find this aspect easier when I’m eating full/main meals as opposed to snacks. Hopefully as I practice more it will get better. I definitely remember this from last time. I remember how amazing it felt when it suddenly clicked in my head and I realised how different and much more positive my relationship with food had become. I am excited to get that back.

I'd love to get under 12st 6 this month. That would be 2 Lindas off. If it was more, that would be a bonus. But I don't really know where Paul is going to take me so we'll just have to see!

HappyGowerGirl · 03/09/2018 11:45

Congratulations hairspray that is so amazing and romantic!!!!!!!!!

TVHubbyClaire · 03/09/2018 13:11

Congratulations hairspray...that's lovely news, so pleased for you Smile

Another 11st 13 day for me and 20 seconds plank...i am seriously doubting I will get to 5mins

Had poached eggs, beans and toast for breakfast and a cup a soup and light choc mousse for lunch.

Not the healthiest but I was at the pub last night and didn't leave early enough. Minimal eating for rest of day now as I have badminton tonight. Hopefully no 12st on scales tomorrow

BitOutOfPractice · 03/09/2018 16:22

Thank you so much pony for the new thread. Sorry to be AWOLat the crucial time but I was moving house so a bit pre-occupied.

Will read back now

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 03/09/2018 17:28

OMG Hairspray that is amazing! Congratulations!
i'm sure you'll easily reach your target with such a great incentive.

Welcome to all the new faces too. It's great to see this thread so busy. It's really inspiring me to keep at it this month. Down to 11 1 this morning. As usual the first 2-3 lb are coming off easily. The key is to keep it up for more than a few days.

No sugar so far today. If I can keep it up all week I know I'll see a significant loss but I just need to get through the day 3 cravings.

I'm off out for a walk now to keep me busy until dinner time.

Hi all, can I join? I’ve always been a little bit bigger than i’ve Ideally liked but at Christmas I put on another half a stone and i’ve spent all of 2018 trying to lose it with v little success (few pounds shifted some weeks but it always goes back on).

I do quite a lot of exercise, cycle to work four times week plus a bit of (slow) running and some HIIT classes, and i’m not too bad with my food, no sweet tooth but I can stuff myself on savouries sometimes and I definitely drink too much!

Plan is to do 5:2 which i’ve Had some success with in the past and step up the exercises with longer runs supported by Pilates for strength/toning. And try to cut down on the booze. I work two early shifts and two super late shifts each week and the job’s quite stressy so After my lates I have a glass or four of wine to unwind then dive into the cheese and biscuits etc and then sleep in so miss my exercise the next day. Gah!.
Was 10 stone 3 this morning. Would love to be 9 stone 10 by the end of the month when I have a weekend away planned. Would be satisfied in the long run with about 9 stone 3.

Thanks, and good luck to everyone! How’s everyone got on today?

NewMeStartsHere · 03/09/2018 18:57

Congratulations @HairsprayBabe ! How lovely!

Well done everyone who has taken brutal photos. I think I need to make mine my screensaver on my phone to remind me!

Have had 4 good days - go me! Back to work today with the potential to go wrong but on track and managed a 1km swim.

Would really love to see 2/3lb off this week which I think is doable week one..... maybe?!

OublietteBravo · 03/09/2018 19:50

Hello! I was on holiday at the end of August and lost you all for a bit. I weighed in after my holiday this morning - I lost 4lb in total during August, which I’m pleased with. I’m hoping for a full 7lb in September.

GettinTrimmer · 03/09/2018 21:08

Hi all, work today with the normal temptations of colleagues bringing in sweeties from their holidays, chocolate brownies etc, I resisted it all! More or less stuck to Slimming World today and planning tomorrow now - challenge is to get a meal on the table for hungry teenagers with a lower fat version for me at the same time.

50Shades I did Lucy Wyndham Reed's 4 minute standing core exercises today - interesting that she doesn't advocate planks/sit ups. I agree the main challenge is getting into a habit and keeping it up. I am considering trying her 14 day apple shape diet and exercise plan, I like her and need a change as I start something and don't carry it on. But this is not too daunting.

Oubliette well done on 4lb loss in August

Newme the brutal photo...will be good to take another one in a month's time to see the difference after half a stone off.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 03/09/2018 21:57

That’s lovely Hairspray! Congratulations!

Hope the move went well Boop!

I’ve had a pretty golden day. I did my workout this morning, kept to 1200 calories, and because I was out this evening I had an early dinner and then no temptation to nibble afterwards. Pretty good so far!

poorpaws · 03/09/2018 23:13

Hairspray many congratulations, I am so pleased for you.

Boop hope the move went well and you’ll be happy in your new home.

I went to a cafe with my sister-in-law today, she had a cappuccino and a large piece of carrot cake (one of my favourites) and I had a diet Coke. Apparently the carrot cake was not nearly as nice as it looked and was quite dry. Result! (About time). I should add I don’t mean my sister-in-law having dry carrot cake was a result 🙄 I meant at last I have resisted something.

Welcome all newbies.

NoNameIdeas · 03/09/2018 23:27

Pleased may I join along too? Back to work tomorrow (in a school!) and have decided it's time to finally lose my baby weight...baby will be 2 soon! Oops...

QuimReaper · 04/09/2018 06:46

Hello all! I'm back from my holiday and glad to see so many new faces! I've just skimread the whole thread, afraid my brain isn't awake enough to welcome everyone individually, but WELCOME ALL OF YOU to the Best Thread on Mumsnet™!

I haven't dared step on the scales - I have a solid week of Mac & Cheese and wine behind me (literally on my behind). Lovely holiday but I got hardly any sleep all week. That combined with awful jet lag meant I had the most monstrous sleep yesterday, and literally hardly ate a bite all day, so am an unintentional 36hr almost-fast. I'm not sure it has much effect when you fast because you're hibernating, but hey ho, can't do any harm! I now have two days to try and lose as much America Belly as possible before I'm off for another three days of debauchery at my friend's wedding... September is not off to the most auspicious start. I think I'll weigh in on Thursday morning before setting off, just to see what the damage has been. I don't look too podgy, I think, but I may be deluded, I need to try on my wedding outfit to check it still zips up Blush

QuimReaper · 04/09/2018 06:53

Oh and Hairspray - WOW! Congratulations, amazing news! You've certainly had a whirlwind of a year, haven't you! You are living proof of that old closing-a-door-opening-a-window thing, I really couldn't be happier for you Flowers

Try not to stress too much about wedding weight motivation - I got a bit too wound up about it, and although it was the only thing that finally spurred me finally into losing weight, and I felt pretty good at the time, I ended up way too focused on it and obsessed over the wedding pictures. I had a bit of a wedding dress and hair-and-makeup fail, which didn't help, but I wish I hadn't made such a thing of it so that I could remember my wedding without automatically thinking about my weight. I've been known to have slightly tipsy arguments with my friends who are insisting I looked great on the day whilst I'm insisting I looked like a pig in a frock Confused Blush Not cool...!

QuimReaper · 04/09/2018 06:55

Oh, also-also,

BOOP hope the house move went / is going well! I think the stress of moving house is seriously under-recognised. I still shudder to remember ours. I do not envy you one bit.

And also-also-also

Mind you it's probably time to shed the pregnancy weight now she's going into sixth form

That really made me laugh Grin

HairsprayBabe · 04/09/2018 08:39

Thanks for all the well wishes all!

Yes this year has been somewhat of a whirl wind but I am beyond happy and so excited for the future!

Good advice Quim I think as long as I can lose what I have gained in the last six months I will be pleased, I think atm I am looking "normal" still just about squeezing into size 10 jeans so would like those to be a little more comfortable!

HairsprayBabe · 04/09/2018 09:00

oh and here is the ring!

Come and lose 7lbs in Slendertember - watch the weight fall off like autumn leaves from the trees!
Peridot1 · 04/09/2018 09:50

Welcome back Quim! Hope holiday was fab.

Happy new home BOOP!

Fab ring Hairspray. And fab lippy!

Sneaky weigh in for me this morning and I’m finally in the 14s! By .2 of a pound but I’ll take it! Grin. Weighed at 14 st 13.8 pounds. Won’t weigh again now until Friday. Hope to be properly in the 14s by then.

My next mini goal is 14st 9. Might seem a bit random but it is the lowest I got to abut four years ago so keen to get back to that.

Day 3 of Sober September went ok.

Day 3 of plank challenge didn’t go well as I totally forgot. So I’ll do one now and one tonight.

Hope everyone has a good day.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 04/09/2018 11:02

Ooh, Hair, it's so preeeeetty, and shiny and sparkly!

Welcome back, Quim, glad you had a good time and lovely to see you - you'll shift the mac and cheese in no time. I'm pretty sure it was you that kept telling me 'easy on, easy off'Smile

12st 8 this morning. Was hoping for better, but didn't deserve it. Need to focus! I can so this! Must keep the faith!

Excitingly, if all goes according to plan, I will complete my achilles rehab on Wednesday next week, so I have the start of C25K pencilled into my diary for Thursday. I'm oddly giddy at the thought of 20 minutes of run/walk, even though pre-DD/injury I could run a half marathon - just hope talking about it doesn't jinx it. I reckon upping my cardiovascular exercise will have a big impact on the scales, if I can keep my eating under control.

Therealjudgejudy · 04/09/2018 14:53

Hi everyone!

Congratulations @hairspray. Fab news.

Hope your move went well @BOOP. Moving can be a stress test.

Still on my game as far as the gym There early every morning burning the calories. Now if I could just work on my crisp cravings....

Terf2Terf · 04/09/2018 16:44

Hello all

Please may I join you? This thread is highly recommended by Kick and I do need some more encouragement not to eat!! Back to school and all that. Also I start a new job next week (first job in 14 years) and nothing fits me Grin I'm back on mfp and I do lots of stuff at the gym anyway so hopefully can shed that excess 3st....

50shadesofbeige · 04/09/2018 16:55

Congratulations @hairspray such a lovely proposal story!

@gettin well done on getting started with the videos. I've been thinking off investing in one of her guide ebooks as well. I like that they aren't really overpriced and as you say not very daunting either. I'm going ok holiday so maybe when I'm back (probably several Linda's heavier 😂)

Terf2Terf · 04/09/2018 16:58

I am panda101paws on mfp if you'd like to friend me Smile

Loving your proposal Hair! Top of the Rock is one of my fave places in NY. And your ring is gorgeous 👍
