Following on from the ‘half a stone off in July’ thread - everyone welcome - we're hoping to lose 7lb in August (but any loss is a win!).

Any and all diets, approaches etc welcome, a place to check in, keep focused and encouraged.

*its

jaxhwc · 06/08/2018 11:53

Right! First day of lchf, main challenge is no milk in my coffee! Bought myself a new electric spiraliser which is giving me some motivation.

Peach6789 · 06/08/2018 16:44

Busy weekend.
Quick update - oat bran is lower in carbs than a homemade smoothie, learned after drinking said smoothie.
Costa sucks for low carbs, and their water is bloody expensive.
BBQ is a good idea until the next day when you feel like you're sweating beef.
Too much sun for me = feeling crappy and sleeping for 15ish hours.

Overall I did pretty well. Ate and drank far too many calories and carbs on Saturday, but much less than I normally would so very pleased with myself. Not used to meat still, especially beef and especially in large quantities so struggled to want anything decent yesterday.

Not eaten much today either, oat bran for breakfast (more like dinner time though) but couldn't face any kefir.

I hit a wall on Saturday. Just started feeling really down, had a bump in my car, sprained my finger, can’t walk properly due to plantar fasciitis, DH is away on work,( he went away for 10 days on the 20th and is still away) then I smashed my phone screen as a bottle of vinegar fell out the cupboard onto it.

Anyway I phoned my mum and then packed the DC up, stuck the cat feeder out and drove 2 hrs to mum and dads house for a break.

While I am feeling much better it hasn’t helped weight loss (mum made a really nice pavlova) will post an update with the verdict when I get back home to my scales!

RunningOverTheSameOldGround · 06/08/2018 20:02

Ah eltsih, I get days like that. Just need a break from everything and some adult company. I don’t think I’d have said no to a pavlova either!

So that’s day one for me done.

Not great on the food front tbh. Simply because I hadn’t planned to start dieting today (until someone sent me a photo from the weekend of me in a swimsuit Envy (not envy). So I didn’t have much diet friendly food in the house.

I’ve been shopping today though and I also went for a jog / walk / run. Mainly jogging, a fair amount of walking with just a few moments of actual running Grin! That’s the first one since I had dc2 6 months ago though, so I was just happy to get out and give it a go. I have to admit to one moment thinking about a post by redjellybean^^ talking about buying nice lingerie. I just thought as I was running how nice it would be to go lingerie shopping if I was a bit more toned and maybe a stone lighter!

Planning to start low carb tomorrow.

Feeling very motivated all of a sudden after my jog. Also rather sweaty and red Blush.

OublietteBravo · 06/08/2018 20:10

I'm struggling a bit. Particularly with controlling my food intake. Travelling & visiting friends/family isn't helping (I've had 4 meals out in the last week).

I've stepped up the exercise. Currently this seems easier to control than the food side of things.

theredjellybean · 06/08/2018 21:13

Ahhh... Runningoverthesamegroubd.. So glad my lingerie obsession has motivated someone :)

I have had a hungry day today, broke 17hr fast with very small portion of chicken and mushroom thing I cooked, it has creme fraiche and mustard in it, but portion is 340 and I ate half a portion I reckon.
Then had two small banana oat pancakes (these have maple syrup in them and oats and flour and egg)
For dinner had salad and half a thin crust spinach and goats cheese pizza.
But managed no alcohol.

Definitely big calories day for me but proud I didn't scarf down whole pizza and ate the salad to fill me up first.
Also did an hour of weights with my PT today so it might nit be too bad on the scales tomorrow

jaxhwc · 06/08/2018 21:21

I'm feeling very proud of myself even though it's day one. Tried out some bulletproof coffee for breakfast and 3 Rashers of bacon, zucchini noodles for lunch and dinner which are delicious with a bit of pesto and cream cheese. Avoided the left over cakes (one being pecan pie which is my favorite) went for a 5k walk this morning too!

RunningOverTheSameOldGround · 07/08/2018 09:52

redjellybean the prospect of new pants is a weirdly good motivator Grin! Who’d have thought?

Looks like everyone is doing really well. I weighed in this morning at 11 st 6 lbs. Marking it here so I know what I’ve lost at the end. That’s an ok weight for me, as I’m tall. But I really want that half a stone off, just so I can say I’m ten stone something Wink. My favourite weight is 10 and a half stone, which is my ultimate goal.

Starting low carb today, which is all great, except for me accidentally drinking tea with one sugar cube in it this morning. Just too bleary eyed this morning! Oh well. I’ve just had a large omelette with mushrooms, chorizo and a bit of cheese.

Planning on courgetti for lunch. Maybe with basil, tomato and cream cheese, a bit like jax^^. Sausage and swede mash this evening. I’m also working tonight, so hopefully that will prevent me from snacking before bed!

jaxhwc · 07/08/2018 11:31

Running mmmmmm, Swede mash and sausage sounds yum. I might go and get myself some swede today.

So I didn't blend my bulletproof coffee yesterday because I didn't have a blender but today I tried it and it's a revelation! It comes out frothy like a shop bought coffee. Delicious!

Half a stone off in August - we can do it!
RunningOverTheSameOldGround · 07/08/2018 11:53

jax that looks really nice! Did you use butter? The idea of butter and coffee freaks me out a bit, but that does look good.

I found some low carb sausages by Tesco Finest, so I’m looking forward to them.

WomanOfTime · 07/08/2018 11:53

Checking in!

@Lexilooo I have to thank you for the recommendation. Aldi Greek yogurt is the best. Exactly as you said - like Total, less pricey.

I weighed myself today and I'm at 136.5lbs - down 2.5 since the beginning of August, and 7.5 since I started. (I'm short, so this is a size 12/14 on me.) I find it relatively easy to avoid the foods I don't want to eat, but I haven't been doing so well with exercise - 4 20-minute sessions with weights and resistance bands. I know I should try to do some stretching but it's really uncomfortable, and jogging is not happening in this heat.

jaxhwc · 07/08/2018 14:18

Running yes 2 tbspn of butter and 1 tbspn of coconut oil. When it's blended the butter acts a bit like milk usually does and doesn't taste too buttery. I think I made it a bit strong though as I feel rather wired!

Smarshian · 07/08/2018 16:24

Checking back in. Weighed in this morning and down to 156lb, 2lb down from start of August and 10.5lb since beginning of July so feeling pleased although I'm starving today and wanting to maonling chocolate and wine!

theredjellybean · 07/08/2018 16:27

Weighed today at 154lbs..thats 9lbs since middle of June

Happinessisabook · 07/08/2018 16:35

Weighing in tomorrow as it will have been a week since I started
Hoping for 1kg down but think it is unlikely as I was away for a few days eating junk. I'll take any loss as a win and hope for more next week

Foreverlexicon · 08/08/2018 06:35

I’ve not been doing so well so far.

I’ve had terrible insomnia for the last couple of weeks which has led to me snacking so I’ve stayed the same so far.

Frustrating as really want to lose these 6 pounds before the end of the month!

I’m out with the horse at a competition today (it’s an important one!) and never manage to eat much on those days although tend to have a couple of cappuccinos!

I need to kick it up a gear tomorrow though. I need some ideas of low calorie lunches I can eat whilst driving? I tend to eat lunch on my way to work as Work days are crazy.

Usually have a sandwich/crisps/fruit but that would be around 600 calories so need to think of an alternative! I’m thinking of making egg muffins with egg, spinach, mushrooms and a little cheese for next week to have with ryvitta and then some veggie sticks? But could do with some other ideas, if anyone has any!

My headphones have arrived too so planning on fitting in a run a couple of times a week when I can. I already do aerial silks once a week and ride the horse 6 times a week but I don’t do anything for legs or cardio. I’ve bought some melatonin pills which I’m hoping will help me sleep!

Planning to go hardcore as I’ve got a family dinner out on the 24th and I’ve just had a look at the menu. It’s distinctly lacking healthy options and full of really yummy not healthy options so I need to shift a few pounds in the next couple of weeks if I want to be able to treat myself then!

I’m on afternoon/evening shifts thurs-sat so at least I ought to sleep okay which will help.

Happinessisabook · 08/08/2018 09:08

So I'm 78.1kg today, that's only 0.5kg/1.1lb down since the 1st but it's in the right direction.
And considering after my few days away I was 79.1kg on Sunday it isnt bad at all.

Hopefully I can kick it up a notch and lose another 6lb/3kg by the end of the month.

My ideal goal is to lose around 4kg a month, which will put me at 67kg/10.5stone by my wedding. Which is around the weight I was when I met my fiance (and I looked and felt much better about myself!)

theredjellybean · 08/08/2018 09:31

Happiness... If you have lost 1kg since Sunday.. You have lost 2.2lbs then since then.

Try to look on positive.. Your are down and not up or even stayed the same.

I was 152.2 lbs today.. Appetite vanished and weight dropping quickly.

Allycumpooster · 08/08/2018 09:58

I’m off visiting my family of feeders in a foreign country for 14days. This is going to be the biggest test of my diet so far. On the plus side I doubt there is a scales in a 10 mile radius. I’ll be doing well if I stay the same as I am now and since I have hit a bit of a stale mate for the last week or so it’ll be fine. Part of the point of the first 6kg weight loss was this visit so at least I have achieved something Grin.

Lexilooo · 08/08/2018 10:12

Ooh @foreverlexicon I have a horse too! What was your competition? I find it hard to fit much other exercise in alongside riding so you are doing well.

@Happiness why so down? You have a decent loss in a week. A kilo a week is really good going.

I have hit a stall this month and my heavy weekend away at a wedding means I am up from the beginning of the month at 87kg. Had a decent day yesterday with a deficit of over 400 calories against my MFP target which is set at 1lb a week.

Pilates class today and hopefully a few strict days will get things moving again.

pliable · 08/08/2018 11:08

Same here, loving LCHF - it also agrees with me as I love cheese and fat yoghurts and cream, and couldn't live without it. The only thing I miss is fruit (mostly apples and cherries and peaches), but once I get down to my weight target (~61-62kg hopefully) then I will slowly re-introduce fruit.

pliable · 08/08/2018 11:24

Also forgot to say I decided to tackle my weight loss like tennis players: ball by ball, game by game. Kg by kg.

So for instance last Saturday I was at 68.7kg. My next target is 67.x, hopefully by Saturday.

The x can be anything... even 67.9kg will do.

But, I'm not allowing myself to get back to 69.x no matter what...

I weigh in on Saturday mornings and that's how I set my targets. If for instance I will not reach 67.x this Saturday, then I will reset the target until I get there!

Slowly but surely.... well hopefully not that slowly, I'm aiming for a 0.5-1kg (very roughly 1-2lbs) weight loss per week at the moment.

OublietteBravo · 08/08/2018 19:36

I already knew that last week hadn’t gone well. Today the scales proved it. I weigh exactly the same as I did on 1 August. Hopefully next week will be better...

Happinessisabook · 08/08/2018 20:40

lexilooo I was just hoping for a bit more i guess. I'm feeling pretty down about my body at the minute, so i guess a part of me feels like the more/quicker i lose the sooner I'll feel better.

jellybean I just wish I hadn't ate so many chips and junk while I was away!

Tried lchf today properly, and after my breakfast at 9am I wasn't the slightest bit hungry until after 4pm! I haven't logged the calories, but in terms of volume it hasn't been much because I've been very full.
