Following on from the ‘half a stone off in July’ thread - everyone welcome - we're hoping to lose 7lb in August (but any loss is a win!).

Any and all diets, approaches etc welcome, a place to check in, keep focused and encouraged.

Hello everyone.. I am in again.
Today my magic scales weighed me at 137.3lbs, so I appear to have lost 50.5 lbs overnight. Clearly I don't need to diet Grin

So while I wait for new scales (yez I remember from May thread I said I'd buy new ones) I shall log last weight as 157.8

I want to be 155lb by holiday in three weeks.. Easy!

The other thing is I eat when I’m hungry - as in I eat properly, when I am actually hungry. I was terrible for snacking in the past, ate rubbish snacks, and the grazing made me bloated.

So for instance this morning I’m not feeling too well (I have an autoimmune condition and feels like I’m just rundown, like my batteries need charging!) so I’m staying at home today. I felt hungry this morning, so waited to have a fuller breakfast with DH - eggs and bacon. I take my time and by the end I was still hungry, so I had some berries and full fat yoghurt and I’m now feeling sated (not stuffed).

In the past I might have drawn the line at eggs and bacon thinking it should be enough, then start grazing an hour later or getting really hungry at lunch and overeating. Whereas now I’m full and I’m unlikely to want anything more until much later (4/5pm).

Can I join?? I'm disgusted with myself atm

beforeihit30 · 31/07/2018 10:40

Great to see returners and new joiners!

I’ll restate my goal actually. I started at 168.4lb in early June, I am now 157.2lb. My initial goal is tonight each 140lb, so that I am a healthy weight for my height, and would like to settle anywhere between 130-140lb (which I haven’t been in 10 years Shock) as this is a good weight for me.

@Threeminis cross posted with you, welcome and Flowers I know the feeling but more positive now.

Hello!! Count me in, though I'm on holiday until Friday so won't be too good until then GrinWineWineWine This means I can't weigh myself until Saturday - I will probably need to have a stiff drink afterwards as I'm pretty sure I've put on weight whilst I'm away Blush

Hi All,
I would love to join in too. I have lost 7 stone previously with slimming world, but the last 5 months I gained 21lbs. I started last month and have been doing a kind of low carb diet and calorie counting and lost 10 pounds so far. I have a holiday at the end of September and would like to lose the other 11 by then. So 7lb in August would be great :) I am also listening to a hypnosis app that seems to be helping too. I do slow jogging for 20 mins each morning and walk a bit too. Hopefully this thread will be another aid in losing the weight

AStatelyPleasureDome · 31/07/2018 11:01

Thanks for the tips 30! :)

Peachydream · 31/07/2018 11:10

Hi, Can I join in with you all please?

I keep yoyoing the same 7lbs, but I have 2 Stones to shift in total to goal weight. I am tracking with MFP & calorie counting. I want to focus and get to goal.

I run, but need to push myself more with it, gym is closed for refurbishment at the moment, but starting back at the end of the week.

Iamtheresurrection · 31/07/2018 11:24

Can I join? Been stuck at 170lbs for ages and starting to lose heart.

Using MFP but my biggest problem is I don’t eat meat so I have too many calories left that I eat junk with.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 31/07/2018 11:34

I am horrified at my weight. I am now 13stone 10lbs I've managed to put on 2 stone since just before xmas. I have never been slim, but I.could manage my weight ok. Now, post hysterectomy, approaching menopause and 2 years away from 50, I cannot be complacent...

Smarshian · 31/07/2018 15:12

Just checking in. Started July at 166.5lb. Lost 8.5lb so down to 158lb now. Aiming for another 7lb this month. Overall initial aim 142lb. Will assess if that is the right target when I get there.

Peach6789 · 31/07/2018 15:34

I'd like to join too.

I'm 190lb, I've a lot coming up so need to be more dedicated. I've lost about 2 1/2 stone but that's taken some yoyoing and 2 years! I need to lose as much as I can in the next month or two then try to maintain for my wedding dress in early December. Yikes, nothing like leaving it until the last minute.

Plan is to move more, eat less carbs, sugar and dairy and more leafy stuff.
Prep today is to write a shopping list, clean the fridge and dig out my fit bit and make sure MFP is updated and ready to go.
Fresh start tomorrow (I say after eating a packet of crisps, sweets and biscuits).

Ethiopianflower · 31/07/2018 15:35

I’m in again. Managed to lose 7lb in July. Stuck to about 1500 calories and ran 6km six days a week. Would love to lose another stone by the end of October. Half a stone in August would be great. Find my appetite is huge at the moment which is not helping. Good luck everyone!!!!

theredjellybean · 31/07/2018 16:12

@Iamtheresurrection if you have left over calories why not drop your daily allowance and speed up weight loss?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 31/07/2018 16:15

@Ethiopianflower

I was thinking about dusting off my running shoes and found this article today.

Based on what they’re saying you may be doing too much cardio, hence the appetite increase. You may be better off dialling down the running to fat burning pace (65% of max heart rate) and do two weight training sessions a week.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 31/07/2018 16:16

Can someone talk me through how mfp works for weight loss please? I have a fit bit and apparently they sync but I have never done it.

Iamtheresurrection · 31/07/2018 16:27

Tried dropping the calories but I was constantly hungry and ended up eating ridiculous amounts when I finally gave in. I really need to eat proper food rather than chocolate for the extra calories. And get my protein sorted rather than just salad, soup etc.

Blerg · 31/07/2018 16:33

Hello, I’d like to join please. I eat ‘keto’ which is strict low carb, high fat. I had 5 stone 2lbs to lose, and now have 4st to go. I can’t eat dairy annoyingly so it’s tricky sometimes but the weight is coming off slowly but surely.

WhenDoISleep · 31/07/2018 17:31

Curly I use MFP, at a most basic level it is a calorie tracker. You log each thing you eat including butter/spread on sandwiches, oil used in cooking etc. and MFP logs the calories. you do this either manually by searching the MFP database or it has a barcode scanner. It might sound time-consuming, but it quickly builds a list of frequently used foods. When you set it up, you input a goal weight plus various statistics and it will work out a daily calorie level to reach that weight. You can track weight and various measurements as well. I used to have a Fitbit and MFP will sync up with the Fitbit to log steps, sleep and body fat (if the one you have does that).

It is pretty easy to use, I have it on my phone and ipad as an app and it syncs across them. You can access your account via the website as well, but I find that a little more clunky to use that way.

Peach6789 · 31/07/2018 17:32

Curly you just need an account for each then log into Fitbit within the MFP app. It's quite easy to do but if you're struggling hopefully this link will help

Shedders · 31/07/2018 17:35

Anyone have any suggestions for low carb breakfast u can take to work? I was having banana and yogurt previously but guessing this is a no no on low carb

rabbitmat · 31/07/2018 17:40

Can I join? I've been trying to lose weight since the beginning of June and managed to get down to 11: 8 from 13 : 2. I really want to get rid of that 8lbs as I am going on holiday at the end of August. I'm struggling a bit at the moment because I'm in holiday mode - drinking more and exercising less. I need some extra motivation.

OublietteBravo · 31/07/2018 17:43

Can I join? I’ve put on a good half a stone in the last year - I’d love to lose it again!

Lexilooo · 31/07/2018 18:20

@shedders total full fat greek yoghurt with some berries?

Combinations of Avocado Egg Bacon mushroom cheese. Omlette

To be honest you will probably find you can manage without pretty soon providing you get some fat in your evening meal
